Mother Arrested: 3 Kids and Dog in Trunk of Car

Another distressing parental story.  What will these three kids be like after being raised by this druggie mother?

A mother is behind bars after she was caught speeding down a Washington State highway with her three kids and a family dog in her car's trunk.
Anna Boyle of Woodinville, Wash., "appeared very nervous" when officers approached the car Sunday morning for what they thought would be a routine traffic stop, Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said in a statement.
Troopers found evidence of methamphetamine, traces of heroin, several types of prescription pills and drug paraphernalia in the 2007 Nissan Sentra.
They also smelled marijuana in the car and asked the 28-year-old and her fiancé, Aaron Johnson, who was riding in the passenger seat of the car, about the odor.
Boyle responded, "I took a few hits earlier."
It was when officers were searching the vehicle that they heard a "thumping sound" coming from the trunk of the car.
"At no time did the driver or passenger tell either trooper there were kids in the car," Leary said. "The car was black, the sun was out."

Troopers said they were unsure how they kids were ever in the backseat since it was covered in bags, a guitar and a snowboard.

Troopers opened the trunk to find Boyle's 8-year-old daughter, her two sons ages 7 and 5 and a small dog.
The children had not eaten since the night before, Leary said, prompting a sergeant to get the kids food at McDonalds before Child Protective Service took them into custody.
Boyle and Johnson, 27, claimed that the kids had crawled into the trunk through an opening in the backseat, though a photo attached to Leary's statement shows the back seat covered with bags, a guitar and a snowboard.
"The trooper does not know how it could be possible they were ever in the front, as there were so many items and no car seats for one, let alone three, kids," the statement said.
Boyle and Johnson were arrested on drug charges. Charges related to the kids being found in the trunk have not be filed as of yet.

Makes sense, things that belong in a trunk are in the seat, and the kids who belong buckled in a seat are in the trunk.

One thing that did confuse me is the statement said their were no car seats for one, let alone 3 kids. Do laws require 8 and 7 year olds to have car seats now? I thought it was 5 and below for some reason.

Where I come from the age is 8. I'm sure it's some kind of weight/height and/or age, but I know the age stated is 8. That's not for an actual "car seat" though. A booster seat is used after a car seat.

In the State of Washington, children under age 8 must be in a car seat until they are 4'9". Children who are at least 8 years old and/or taller than 4'9" can wear a regular car seatbelt if they are big enough for it to fit properly so that they can use it correctly; otherwise they must be in a carseat or booster seat. Children under age 13 must ride in the back seat whenever possible.

God Bless that officer for getting those babies some food! No words for the "parents" in the front. No words.

Until they are a certain height and weight. Mine are 7 and 8 and still in a booster.
