Another large search Saturday for missing 13-year-old Dylan Redwine failed to find the boy or any new clues.
More than 260 volunteers joined law enforcement in the search on Saturday in La Plata County, working in small groups.
Saturday's search focused on several miles on either side of La Plata County Road 240, also known as Florida Road. The road is a common route between Durango and Vallecito, where Dylan was last seen.
Dylan had been staying with his father, Mark Redwine, in Vallecito near Bayfield as part of a court-ordered Thanksgiving holiday visit. Mark Redwine, who lives about 22 miles north of Durango, told investigators that he left the home to run some errands andwhen he returned four hours later, he said, Dylan was gone.
Investigators said in a news release from La Plata County Sheriff's office, that it wasn't a tip that led them to the search area, just an urgency to cover more ground before snow fell.
Dozens of items were flagged by searchers. Of those, 10 were collected by investigators "for future reference," according to the news release.
The release also conveyed thanks from the Redwine family to all who helped in the search.
Anyone who may have information on Dylan's whereabouts are asked to contact La Plata County Sheriff's Office Investigator Dan Patterson at 970-382-7015 or Tom Cowing at 970-382-7045.
A local tipline has also been set up at 970-382-7511.
Crime stoppers and the National Center for Missing Children are also taking calls on any available related information.

So, Peter,
What are the chances that he will be found alive now?
I am praying for a live Dylan!
After this time and the weather it is unlikely he is alive if he tried to hitchike.
It is possible he was picked up by a driver with neferious deeds in mind, however like so many cases the truth lies closer to home.
Given he was a teen and a prolific texter the fact he hasn't contacted anyone is telling.
if he were alive he would have tried to contact a friend if not his mom to say come get me ( unless there was abuse at both homes)
We know he arrived at the airport as he would show up on cctv and records.
He may also show up on cctv at mcdonalds and the mall.
What happened after that and before his dad reported him missing is the $64,000 question.
There may be cctv showing the dad's vehicle indicating time and direction, if he tried to hike there may be cctv on the street or stores he passed showing him walking past.
Since the house is out the way this is less likely than in a town or city.
Do cell pings show where he last was before he stopped texting?
Do pings show movement even if he didn't text or call?
Has the dad taken a poly and what were the results?
Great post Hobnob. This case is just driving my nuts. I have been following it from the beginning and was hoping something would turn up quickly but it's like he vanished into thin air. I have to believe that LE has at least some evidence but who knows. I really think that if he had set out on his own, he'd be found by now but I know people have gotten themselves into tragic situations like falling and not being seen etc. It's the whole sitation with the cell phone not being on or charged. Plus the fact that when his dad came home allegedly and Dylan was gone he tried texting him for a long time but he said reception was spotty. So if he knew that why did it take him so long to contact the friends and his ex and police? I don't want to suspect Mark, his dad, but there isn't a great deal of effort on his part to make me admire him either. Mark's alibi has been proven but for all we know, if he harmed Dylan in some way, he could have had him in his car while he ran his errands. I don't know what to think, I do know I hate waiting for something to turn up. Time is so precious.
His mother Elaine speaks of him in the past tense. I wish Peter would analyze her Dec 3 appearance on Nancy Grace. His mother completely changed her tune and the way she talks in the past tense about him nearly the entire time is shocking.
Hobnob, Your words ring true, but I wish it wasn't.
"Do cell pings show where he last was before he stopped texting?
Do pings show movement even if he didn't text or call?"
These are great questions, unfortunately, I don't know the answers. I wonder if there is a reader here who works for a cell company that can enlighten us?
In the meantime, I'll keep praying for a live Dylan, even if a stranger took him, he could still escape.
Pinging a cell phone is finding out what cell tower their phone is in. This can be used to locate a person that you know has the cell phone. This is used by law enforcement on a regular basis.
Usually the information is provided by the cellular provider and you have to have an account with them. In 911 systems the location is broadcast with the call.
If a bad guy is carrying a cell phone the phone is constantly sending signals to the closest cell tower, even if the phone isn't in use. The location of the cell tower will tell you that the person is within a certain range. When the person moves they can be tracked by which cell towers the signal is bouncing to.
Now cell phones come with GPS so your exact location can be traced. Even when your phone is turned off!! Also, the phones can be used as a listening device. It can be activated via a cell phone tower and law enforcement can listen to everything said within range of the cell phone. The phone doesn't even have to be turned on. It's like you are carrying around a microphone. Many ways of listening to people are being developed and put to use right under our noses. ONstar has been used to listen in on criminals by law enforcement. the microphone for ONSTAR in your car can be activated remotely so your conversation in the car can be listened to. If you want to remain anonymous with a cell phone use a prepaid phone and don't send in your information for a mail in rebate. Because the phone will then be registered to your name. If nobody knows your phone number or ESN number then they can't trace your phone by cell towers.

Given that Dylans father/Mother/family and friends continuously talks in the present and past tense and SA always says that if this occurs the person who says it has guilty knowledge of said case, then again according to SA they ALL have??
Were is the line drawn and surely there must be exceptions to the rule regarding these statements?
Confused?

I'm confused. Dylan's mom was quoted as saying she was going to get Dylan a "smart" phone for Christmas.

Do you have samples of all these people? Links to anything written or interviews of them speaking in the past tense? Hopefully, Peter will analyze these people.

I have a friend that made a report hopefully this technology was implimented immediately. It was a long time ago; maybe she didn't have the right kind of phone.
Peter I appreciate your work and your teaching of SA . Thank you.
Dylan's mother may speak of Dylan in past tense because she knows the soul of Mark Redwine. This is a man who a child abuse and neglect charge, restraining orders against him and DUIs (which equals a history of abusing alcohol).

It is Dylan's m who has the DUI
On Oct. 7, 2005, Dylan's dad Mark Redwine requested protection against him mom Elaine saying she was "drinking and driving with kids." A judge temporarily ordered her not to drive the kids around or even be with them while under the influence.
