Mother's Letter from Jail

I know I didn't hurt my child

Letter from Jail

who does mother blame?
Does mother issue reliable denial?

1. The child's name is not mentioned in the letter. This suggests emotional distance.
2. The child is only referred to as 'child'. The use of the word 'child' is often related to 'child abuse'.
3. The letter only laments about how hard the situation was and is for the writer. Not one word of grief about the death of the child.
4. The statement 'would never hurt of murder my own child' is not a reliable denial. ' Would' refers to something that might happen in the future, while the event took place in the past.
5. 'I know I didn't hurt my child' is not a reliable denial. It leaves room for 'killing softly'.
6. The use of the term 'prove my innocence' is not reliable. Innocence can be used as a legal term; after all everyone is 'innocent', at least until proven guilty.

She blames the father of the child, the county (or country?). She does not issue a reliable denial.

These *denials* are getting disgustingly repetitive. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

1) Peter, is there any way to switch to making people register for an account in order to comment? There is a lot of meanness and trolliness happening in the comments lately and it's a bummer.

2) I've been reading about Columbine lately, and I found an account by a survivor (told after the fact--probably 10 years after.) I'm wondering if this would be interesting for analysis in terms of emotion placement, etc. That's something where "normal" is hard to identify for me. If it would be interesting, I found it here but I don't think that's where the original post was made: http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/archive/index.php/t-61128.html.

I'll try and copy/paste the statement into the next comment; I think it's too long for one.

(The whole thing is so long that I'd have to break it up into 3-4 comments and I don't want to hijack the whole comment thread!)

OT. No Body murder convictions

Despite Perry March’s 2006 murder conviction for the death of his wife, Janet March’s body has never been found. Here's a look at some other “no body” murder convictions.

"TRUE I'M YOUNG BUT WOULD NEVER HURT OR MURDER MY OWN CHILD"

"WOULD NEVER" - future tense is not possible as the child is deceased.

"BUT WOULD NEVER" - Not, I would never - missing the pronoun I.
Taking herself away from situation.

"HURT OR MURDER MY OWN CHILD" - Hurt = minimalizing
Own Child = would she murder another child, other than her "own"?

I would say she is guilty or has guilty knowledge of what did happen to the child.

Most Sincerely,
Meag

'My thoughts on this case is unbelievable I'm being accused of my child's death"- her thoughts are 'unbelievable'? She's being accused of her child's death, rather than accused of KILLING her child which is passive language along with minimizing.

'the father of my child was never around to support him'- second mention of my child, however she never says the child's name. She seems to be making an excuse for her behavior. The overall tone of the letter is anger, frustration and feeling sorry for HERSELF, not the lost life if the child

'I know I didn't hurt my child and God knows',- unreliable denial as someone else could know different, she invokes God's Divine knowledge in an attempt to prove veracity. The need to persuade is significant in itself.

'people don't know what I've been through and they hear one bad thing and run'-again her concern is for her treatment and what she has endured

'I took care of my children alone, no one helped me, the county barely gave any concern'- NEWSFLASH, a mother is supposed to be the only one caring for her children, and the fact that 'the county' was involved in any way shows that she DID NOT take care of them! (I digress) Again although she claims to have done nothing to harm her child she seems to be offering an excuse.

'so now they want to blame me all I can do is pray and wait'- she acknowledges that there is blame to be assigned in the death of her child and again references religion saying all she can do is pray and wait. Any mother who lost a child for any reason would feel guilt & blame themselves for any imagined thing that may have made a difference, but she is indignant and angry that blame is being assigned to her.

'hard for me to prove my innocence when so many lies are being told'- Yes, it is hard to prove ones innocence while telling lies. I would expect an innocent person to say something like, I've told the truth and that will prove my innocence

'I'm young but would never hurt or murder my own child'- dropped pronoun I, weakening statement 'would never hurt or murder my own child', future tense 'would never' = unreliable denial, 'hurt or murder' = minimizing, 'my own child'= child still remains nameless and focus of letter throughout is on the author and her own past/present/future woes

OT..Fox news
A Virginia man was arrested Wednesday after police say he brought a 2-by-4-foot board with the words 'High Powered Rifle' written on its side into Sandy Hook Elementary School in the town of Strasburg, MyFoxDC.com reported.

Christopher Johnson, 33, was apparently trying to bring attention to how easy it is to bring a weapon into a school, Scott Proctor, a major at the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s office, said. Johnson was reportedly detained by a school resource officer before he was taken into police custody.

The school has the same name as the Connecticut school where a gunman killed 20 students and six adults last week.

The sheriff's office said resource officers are assigned to all of the schools in the county and the department will re-evaluate safety measures that are in place.

Johnson lives in the same area as the school and used a black Sharpie to write on the wood, Proctor said.

The school, for its part, sent home a letter to parents explaining the incident.

Johnson is being held without bond and will undergo a mental evaluation.

Held without bond? For what? A 3-day psych hold, I can maybe understand, but arrested for why?

Hey this is kinda of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you
have to manually code with HTML. I'm starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!

^^ LOL @ the 2:20 am spammer. Trying to up his game like the 12:01 spammer and completely failing.

On-topic: was that letter written by Elizabeth Johnson? Sounds like her. Very strange woman, obviously has some mental issues going on. Her handwriting kinda broadcasts there's something off about her, too. i wonder what a handwriting analyst would say.

Another thing that stands out to me: "I know I didn't hurt my child." WTF? Such a strange thing to say. Does she think it somehow makes her sound more credible or genuine? Because it doesn't.

Dear Anonymous 4:37,

I would very much like to click on your web-site but I am unable to because I am bedridden with a horrible medical condition that could be cured for only $12,000. A long-lost relative has died and left me a large sum of money but I need an American bank account to access it. Since you know so much about making money online, maybe you can help me. If you let me use your bank account to transfer my very large inheritance into, I will give you half of it and also visit your website. I look forward to your answer.

Whats going on lately on this blog is driving people away,Peter,is there nothing you can do to stop all the ugly posts that keep popping up an have a more secure blog?

I really enjoy this blog and it has become part of my daily routine to log and read your analysis of cases along with other members and learn along the way.

This is a serious blog dealing with very upsetting cases at times and having what can only be known as idiots posting some horrible things even when there is a child involved, makes me sick. The vast majority of people here are kind, caring and a want to help even if its just for support of the families and loved ones.

It is an insult to the memory of baby Ayla not to mention the countless others that yourself Peter and heather are trying to help.
I do hope you can sort something out to clean your blog up.

Thanks

John,
Peter hits a lot of nerves and I think we are often reading posts of people directly involved in some of these cases.
I see that some posts get deleated but they are interesting to analyze in my opinion.

I agree with Apple. I think we get people who are involved in these cases here. So I am willing to put up with some spam and trolls.

Excuse.

Excuse.

Excuse.

Guilty as sin.

What on earth has being young got to do with it? Are young women more likely to murder their children? I don't think so.

6.18 Anonymous again -

Her handwriting slopes backwards and gets sloppier and more illegible when she speaks of her own guilt, and less extreme when she's blaming everyone else, for example inocence (sic) is barely legible.

The grammar is also wrong in this sentence. She says "hard for me to prove my inocence" not "It's hard", and this sentence runs straight on from the one before.

"No one helped me in the county (country?) and barely gave me any concern so now they want to blame me"

Blame her for what, exactly?
What act or event exactly does the writer feel the county/country's alleged neglect contributed to? This implies the county/country somehow shares the blame for something the writer claims never happened in the first place.
