Stallone Had Tapes Destroyed in Agreement

Payments made in settlements speak volumes.  Recall the payoff by Michael Jackson.

Stallone sis had secret tapes

A cache of secretly taped recordings betweenSylvester Stallone and his half-sister Toni-Ann Filiti, who alleged he “abused” her, was destroyed as part of their multimilliondollar settlement, Page Six has exclusively learned.
We first revealed last week that Stallone reached an agreement to give his half-sister $2 million plus $16,666.66 per month for life, and $50,000 a year for psychiatric and medical bills. In the 1987 settlement, Filiti “asserted claims for personal injury, including physical injury” against Stallone, while he “vigorously denied and continues to deny and dispute all claims of wrongdoing.”

According to confidential settlement documents, the tapes allegedly contained conversations between Filiti, who died in August, and Stallone, identified in one document only as “S.”
“This is to acknowledge receipt from you of a total of six cassette tapes, four of which contain conversations between you and your older half-brother who we are referring to as S.,” reads a letter addressed to Filiti by her attorneys at the time.
The memo dated Aug. 3, 1987, continues, “You understand that in accordance with the terms of the settlement agreement between you and S., I and your father are required to destroy all tapes.”
There are believed to be other tapes in existence that could reveal more about Stallone’s bizarre family.
But sources close to Stallone, including his and Toni-Ann’s mother, Jackie, say the settlement came after a blackmail scheme by Filiti.
“Sylvester caved in,” Jackie told us. “It was a very serious thing: Toni-Ann blackmailed him. She threatened Sly, quite frankly. This was nothing more than a shakedown.”
She added that Filiti was “on 65 Oxycontin pills a day” and “a drug addict” desperate for cash.
A source added that the tapes only further show the settlement was part of a shakedown, and that Filiti’s dad, Anthony, later threatened to disown Toni-Ann over the incident, writing, “I will pay for you to legally change your name.”
Filiti’s son, Edd, 19, said he’s in the process of grieving, and had no further comment.

OT but on celebrity topic. Jason London, actor who was in "Dazed and Confused" 1990 movie was arrested for a bar brawl. Here is what he says...

Jason just tweeted about the story ... saying the police report is a "total f*cking lie."

Jason explains, "I got jumped by three 250 pound bouncers. They knocked me out and beat me for several minutes."

"I would never say or do the crap they are reporting. Have faith in me. The truth will come out and you will see."

He continues, "Some guy thought I was hitting on his girl and had me jumped. My wife was in the next room, had no idea what even happened. I hate Arizona."

Blackmail only works if there is something that when revealed would damage the blackmail target. Hence, the destroyed tapes. If Sly had done nothing wrong, there would have been nothing to destroy. So, Mom Jackie, you should probably stop talking now. You're not helping.

I myself am immune to blackmail. Not because I've never done anything... regrettable, but because I am pretty open with my wacky past. So whatever my potential blackmailer could pull out of my deep dark closet, I could probably trump because I'd tell the story better : )

LOL, Lucy, I feel the same way you do. If anyone wants to pull a skeleton out of my closet, I'm going to reveal it first and be done with it.

The problem with what true two above posters said is what one person may find a situation is forgivable or understands it...another may make it totally taboo or sick. Its sometimes better for people in the public eye to eliminate the whole thing. Sure it still looks like there is a dark hidden secret but i know I would rather somethings to never have to be judged by strangers eager to form a damaging opinionthat could risk my money and reputation.

Blackmail only wirks if you let them get away with it, once you admit the subject you take away their power over you.
If you pay them off they can and will still blackmail you since they still have the power and control over you. The threats remains even after payment and there is no incentive to stop blackmailing.

It is the same with criminal gangs abducting and pirates.
As long as the rasoms get paid they will continue abducting and again may keep demanding money for the victims who have already had a ransom paid, why hand over the golden goose?

The moment ransoms stop being paid the abductors no longer have the power. A few hostages may die, they may have died anyway since they could identify the abductors, w their location etc, they are a liability.
Once abductors realise there will be no money or negotiation they will stop abducting.
It is expensive to abduct someone and keep them, money going out and non coming in.
Take away any incentive to commit the crime and it will stop.
Any one tempted knows when caught they will do serious time for no financial gain. the same if they want a release of prisoners etc. don't release anyone and they soon learn it in't going to work. Threats don't work if you have nothing to support it.
