Carolyn Dukeshire, AKA "the sea hag"
The Florida Keys woman known as "the sea hag" who shot and killed her neighbor after he refused to give her a beer has been sentenced to 30 years behind bars.
Carolyn Dukeshire, 62, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Thursday in the July 2012 shooting of 64-year-old Martin Mazur, according to KeysNet.com.
Dukeshire, who was facing a first-degree murder charge and made a deal with prosecutors, submitted a statement to the judge saying she was remorseful and would pay the rest of her life for losing her composure.

Police say Dukeshire had approached Mazur outside his Conch Key home and asked him for a can of Busch Light.
"Do you have a cold beer for me?" she asked, according to a Monroe County Sheriff's Office report.
"I have absolutely nothing for you," he replied.
That's when Dukeshire, who had no previous arrest history in Monroe County, shot Mazur five times. He later died at a nearby hospital.

Since i started learning SA im amazed at the amount of times i can call it.

Some people say that its scripted its look you can call it,be it the number three or they language they use.

Mark McClish explains like this.

"When a guilty person is interviewed by the police, the writer has him respond in the same manner that a deceptive person would answer the question"

John, your posts show your clear growth in understanding.

During the 'live' interviews (any interview without a transcript), if you focus on anything, make it the pronouns and articles.

Errant articles indicate likely deception within the statement, but the pronouns can literally give away a confession.

Practice, practice and more practice.

The new breed of investigatory TV shows give lots of sample.

Keep up the good work.

"I have absolutely nothing for you," he replied.

- The victim's reply was unreliable and may have been deceptive.
You cannot have "nothing", he weakened the statement by inserting "absolutely". And he added "for you". He had something, but it wasn't for her.
I believe he probably was tired of giving her free beer.

yes, John, Crime Wire tonight.

A reminder to all:

do not quote trolls in your response.

Something as vile as what I just saw has to be removed and when someone quotes it, it gets repeated, so your post, even though it was only a response, gets deleted as well.

I was watching a documentary on the woman serial killer - Aileen Wuornos. The guy who did the documentatory seemed to think Aileen gave up and wanted to die so gave up on her self-defense plea. (8 guys - all in self defense) At one point he asked her if the first guy was self defense and she said "yes, and some of the others were too" I caught the "some" right away. I agree with the author of the documentary that she had lost her marbles by the time she was executed but I believe she knew what she was doing when she murdered those men and when she initially told her story of self defense.
I too find that watching Dateline or similiar shows, I notice the language early on.

Was there an ulterior motive behind this crime? Did the "sea hag" get tired of the life she was living and decide that a life behind bars might be easier than the one she had. 3 hots and a cot for the rest of her life.
