Former Rep. Anthony Wiener Back on Twitter

When this story first broke, we noted that Anthony Wiener's denials were passive, indicating that he sought to conceal responsibility for his texts.

We received a "cease and desist" warning, and agreed to, when former Rep. Anthony Wiener told the truth.

His denials were indicated for deception.

Eventually, with the media pounding him with tough questions, he broke.

Now he's back:

From NY Daily News:

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner returns to Twitter after sexting scandal bruised his political career

The @anthonyweiner account may be another sign that the disgraced politician will run for mayor of New York.

Anthony Weiner’s account, which popped up Monday afternoon, drew nearly 2,600 followers by 3:30 p.m.

TWITTER

Anthony Weiner’s account, which popped up Monday afternoon, drew nearly 2,800 followers by 3:30 p.m.

Former Congressman Anthony Weiner is back on the social network that helped end his career in public service.
Weiner, who infamously sent lewd pictures of himself over Twitter in 2011, officially rejoined the social network Monday, the Daily News has confirmed. It’s possibly another indication that he will jump into the 2013 mayoral race.
@anthonyweiner, Weiner’s verified Twitter account, popped up online Monday afternoon. By 3:30 p.m., the account had attracted nearly 2,800 followers. The handle had also tweeted out two messages, both links to a policy booklet by the potential candidate titled “Keys to the City: 64 Ideas to Keep New York the Capital of the Middle Class.”
Weiner, 48, had never officially abandoned his old Twitter account, @repweiner, but had rarely tweeted from it in the years after the sexting scandal that was thought to have ended his career in public service.
The ex-congressman would enter the race with a formidable $4.5 million war chest if he were to run.

WARGA, CRAIG/NY DAILY NEWS

The ex-congressman would enter the race with a formidable $4.5 million war chest if he were to run.

In a May 2011 goof, Weiner publicly tweeted a lewd picture of his crotch that was intended for a woman he was flirting with online. The shot went to all his 67,000-plus followers. After a series of vehement denials, the married lawmaker finally admitted that he had, in fact, exchanged racy online messages with several women and resigned from Congress.
His re-emergence on social media, however, appears to be the latest sign that the former official, who has largely stayed out of the public eye since the scandal, is gearing up for a run for the mayor’s office.
Last week, Weiner relaunched his official website, www.anthonyweiner.com, which had also been dormant since his resignation. Earlier this month, the potential candidate granted a lengthy interview to the New York Times Magazine in which he acknowledged that he was thinking about jumping into the race.
Former Rep. Anthony Weiner acknowledged to the New York Times Magazine recently that he is considering a run for mayor. In a recent poll, he came in second among Democratic candidates, behind City Council Speaker Christine Quinn.

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner acknowledged to the New York Times Magazine recently that he is considering a run for mayor. In a recent poll, he came in second among Democratic candidates, behind City Council Speaker Christine Quinn.

Weiner is expected to make a decision soon.
If Weiner does run, he will enter the race as a formidable candidate. He has $4.5 million left over in his campaign war chest and would qualify for an additional $1.5 million in public matching funds.
In addition, recent polls have shown that the scandal-scarred politician would still come in second in the Democratic primary, behind City Council Speaker Christine Quinn.
In a poll taken last week, Quinn got 26% of the vote and Weiner 15%.
But a victory would be far from certain for Weiner. Another poll showed that he still had a negative favorability rating of 33%.

"We" as in you personally were asked to stop reviewing his statements for deception, Peter?

If so, that is very interesting.

I posted the above question, regarding whether or not you personally were asked to stop analyzing his statements; I've only posted once before (I believe) under this account; I wanted to put a name with my post and future post instead of posting anonymously. :-)

TY, Peter.

South Carolina's disgraced governor Mark Sannford is running for Congress. Will people reelect the Gov who couldn't tell the Appalachian Trial from Argentinian Tail?

Oh.My.God. Not this stoopid creep again. Also with a STOOPID stoopid wife. Eeeeks! Perish the thought.

And plug-ugly besides. Even worse, he actually has a chance at winning.

No longer in shock and with senses dulled; more proof of the dumbing down of America. Anon 1

He's already proven himself to be lacking in good judgement, so I can't imagine why anyone would vote for him. I don't think a grown man who has no more self control than he has shown by tweeting pics of his 'privates', could successfully run a home business...much less one of the worlds largest cities.

Plus he looks like a sneaky little weasel, lol!

He certainly does, Jen! he he...

But there really are those in this country who will vote for him, the low-life freak of a b'stard with a STUPID wife. Anon 1

OT Jodi Arias trial

"Defense Attorney Kirk Nurmi filed a request on Sunday to add "Manslaughter by Sudden Quarrel" or "Heat of Passion" charges to the jury instructions.

The manslaughter charge typically carries a seven year sentence for defendants with no prior record such as Arias."

-The defense is also requesting to present a surrebutal, claiming that the prosecutions expert Dr. D introduced new evidence into the trial. It's a BS move because nothing she presented is new, the defense expert Samuels also referenced an 'axis II personality disorder', weeks ago when he was on the stand, but didn't specify it as borderline.

Also the defense opened the door to allow in the other stalking behavior issues by insisting on asking Dr D questions about the aggression scales on the personality test that were not even considered in making the diagnosis. Demarte told the clueless female defense attorney repeatedly that the scales of the test which Jodi DID NOT elevate on, were not clinically significant and that attempting to interpret low scores (the way Wilmott was) invalidates the whole point of the testing. Wilmott kept pressing it and opened the door for Martinez to bring up examples of Jodi's 'aggressive' behavior. I would think that the defense would have known better than to highlight the personality test, since Jodi elevated on nearly every section of the test defined as a tool for assessing PSYCHOPATHOLOGY!

People will vote for him. Come on, years ago DC re-elected Marion Barry, a man with such a sterling reputation and high moral fiber {{cough, cough}}. If he can be elected, anyone can.

Removed from the 'scandal' is the part of the narrative where he was deceptive about what he had done. The "scandal" has been repackaged to exclude deception.

People can possibly believe he cannot be so reckless as to text pictures to women again. Can they trust him to not be deceptive? Can they trust him to be truthful? Can they trust him to put their interests above his own to serve them, his constituents?

OT-Peter, I was wondering what you thought about this sentence.

"She had come by to see me."

Is "had come" past tense? Is this perhaps a "southern" way of speaking?

I would say "She came by to see me."

Thank you!

I can just picture him watching politics and thinking how so many others are just as slimy as he is and it isn't stopping them from getting elected- he isn't going to sit out unless he is forced to.

OT It's disappointing about Holly Bobo's purse, I was hoping this was the lead that would solve the crime.

I still wonder about the mother's wording in the other article and why police were not showing her the purse.
