Statement Analysis: Mother of Hailey Dunn Memorial: "In My Footsteps"

                                                                 "In My Footsteps"

Do the words of a killer feigning to be a grieving mother indicate anything about the death, or about her mind set?

Or, are these the words of an innocent mother, falsely accused by police and the public?

Statement Analysis is in bold type following the speech.

http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/33066263

(Billie Dunn’s speech starts at about 37:07 and ends at about 39:00. She read from a script.)

"It all started when two kids fell in love. From that our most precious Hailey was created. And on August 28, 1997, at approximately 4:03 am with Connie peaking under and around the curtain we welcomed Hailey Darlene Dunn into our world. Six pounds and nine ounces of perfect beauty.

The first thing Clint and I did was look at each other and say thank you. Every day thereafter Hailey brought joy and laugh ... joy and laughter into our lives. Very early on she kept us entertained. So full of love, life and a little mischief. Desperate to make people laugh.

For 29 months we’ve been forced to make due with our fond memories.

One of her first shocking moments happened at around age two when I was cooking and Clint found her in our bedroom, scissors in hand. “Look what your daughter has done,” he said. She cut the entire top part of her hair so short it looked like a buzz cut.

She loved to pretend she was talking to Britney Spears and would often tell us of their play dates. As she grew a little older we began to see just how smart she was. As at six years old she would read my nursing books [Billie turned the page over to read from the back] to me and help me study with ease.

In elementary school, Hailey took two sets of real human lungs to school, a healthy pair and a diseased pair. She thoroughly explained the respiratory system and complications. It seemed to me she was following in my footsteps.

Within her last year, Hailey and her friends walked inside with an old shoe box. What could she be up to? Oh, it’s a dead bat. We’re gonna dissect it, Momma. I said, “Honey, I am so proud but go bury that bat.”

I miss the many times I was doing dishes and looked out the window to see Hailey pretending to put on a rock show, unaware that anyone was watching.

I could go on all day ... she’s more than a pretty face, more than a jokester, more than intelligent, more than a saxophone player, more than an athlete, more than just a little determined. She's now a blissful angel.

I won’t ruin Hailey’s day by speculation so I will close by saying the same thing I said when her life began. Thank you, Clint, for giving me such a beautiful daughter. Thank you to my son for being a great brother and friend to my sweet Hailey.

Thank you, Hailey, for being my baby and I will love you for ever and a day and I’ll see you in my dreams."

(end of speech)

In Statement Analysis, specifically, the SCAN technique developed by Avinoam Sapir, we say:

The subject is dead; the statement is alive.

This has specific meaning.  We are not analyzing Billie Jean Dunn, but the words on a paper which she read at a memorial service.  We are not analyzing reality, but verbalized reality. If the words are improperly transcribed, it will impact the analysis. It is the words, themselves, that we analyze.

Objection:  Isn't it almost impossible to analyze this given how much is known by the case?

Answer:  True enough:  we cannot analyze it 'cold', due to several things:

1.  Time

2.  Knowledge of the case

1.  Time

When someone is initially interviewed by police on a homicide, the innocent person will be bring herself to say "I didn't kill Hailey" in an open sentence.  If accusations continue, the subject will continue to say this sentence, specifically using:

a.  The pronoun "I"
b.  The past tense verb "didn't" or "did not" (Note that Reid sometimes classifies "did not" as not as strong as "didn't" (casual) but no such distinction exists in the SCAN technique from which Reid draws its principles).
c.  Specific allegation:  "kill", "steal", "take", and so on.

If any of these three are absent, or if anything is added to the statement, it is deemed "unreliable" for purposes of analysis.  Therefore, "I would never have harmed Hailey" uses the unreliable "would never" (future/conditional tense verb) and "harm" which minimizes or reduces "kill"; since Hailey wasn't "harmed" but "killed."  If this sentence follows a reliable denial (above) it is appropriate, but by itself, the subject avoids making a strong commitment to not killing Hailey.  (See analysis on Shawn Adkins).

During the initial interview, the subject who is innocent, will bring herself to say these words, of her own accord (the 'free editing process' in which someone chooses their own words rather than repeating the words of the interviewer) readily, and without qualifiers such as "I believe I did not kill Hailey" or "I think I did not kill Hailey..." and so on.

Once a subject has been interviewed, it becomes increasingly easier to lie, including one who has read analysis.  John Ramsey demonstrated this in a prepared statement.  It is not reliable because the initial interview has already taken place.

However, it is still of interest in analysis because many subjects who give broadcasted interviews will still avoid saying "I didn't do it", years later.  In the case of Shawn Adkins and Billie Dunn, neither has ever made a reliable denial.  If either issued a reliable denial today, it would not be deemed reliable, as this should have come more than 2 years ago.

2.  Knowledge of the case.

At this point in time, many facts are well known about the case, including pornography, drugs, and sexuality and violence linked together.  We know that police accused her of murder and cover up, and that she abruptly left the interrogation.  We know that she failed a polygraph.  We must view this speech from the contextual perspective of all that we know.

From her many appearances on the Nancy Grace Show, Statement Analysis has concluded:

1.  She was deceptive about what happened to Hailey

2.  She had guilty knowledge of Hailey's death
3.  She, not Shawn Adkins, was the author of the 'sleep over' story, which she lifted from the True crime library regarding another young girl who was murdered.
4.  That she saw Hailey at, or near the point of death, in her bedroom, and described this scene, adding that she did "not touch her."

In two plus years of appearances she did not, once, ever deny involvement in the death and disposal of Hailey.  In statement analysis, we follow a rule:

If the subject is unable or unwilling to say she did not do it, we are not permitted to say it for her.

Expectation

In Statement Analysis, we deal with the "unexpected" by setting up what is to be expected.

A powerful example of this comes from Analyst Kaaryn Gough when working the case of missing 7 year old Isabel Celis.  Her parents had reported her kidnapped and went on television.

Kaaryn made a list of the expected words:

kidnap, kidnapping, ransom, and so on.  These are words that, when taken in context, are "expected" to be heard.

When someone is accused of stealing and wishes to proclaim innocence, for example, we have an expectation of the person saying, "I didn't take it..." but when they do not, we are confronted by the "unexpected."

In this case, the mother of a murdered 13 year old is about to speak.

Billie Dunn is no longer with Clint Dunn; as she moved on to live in boy-friend, Shawn Adkins.  Billie Dunn is no longer with Shawn Adkins.

We expect her to speak of her memories of her child, therefore, we look for the use of the pronoun "I" to dominate.  Since she is not with Clint Dunn (who suspects Billie Dunn in the murder, along with Shawn Adkins), we do not expect her to use the plural pronoun "our", "us", etc, often.  She is alone as a parent.

Also, we expect the pronoun "I" to come from her because she is the deceased child's mother.  For a mother, the death of a child is the single most personal issue that comes to mind.  Nothing is more close to a mother's heart than the death of a child.  Therefore, we hold the expectation to be with the pronoun "I."

We also hold expectation of a mother's "deification" of her deceased child.  This is common among parents of dead children:  they speak of the child in almost God-like terms, only remembering the good times, as the pain of death wipes away all the difficult times.  (See Solomon on Proverbs on how much is forgotten with death). It is, therefore, unexpected to hear anything, even subtly, negative, about the victim.

Expectation Conclusion:

We expect to hear:

1.  The pronoun "I" to dominate the speech.

2.  Only the most positive things said about the deceased.
3.  The order of names or people mentioned often indicates priority.  We expect to hear Hailey named first.

Where someone begins a statement is often the reason for the speech.  Here, the speech begins, not with "Hailey" but the pronoun "it" instead.  This is not expected.

The "two kids" is without title (names), and where the subject has chosen to start her account.  The first sentence is often important and will sometimes tell the reason for the statement. The statement does not begin with Hailey, but with the subject's relationship with Hailey's father, describing it with the pronoun "it."

The "two kids" is the first people in the statement mentioned:

Billie Dunn and Clint Dunn.

Order often indicates priority.

Since the subject has chosen to being with the relationship that produced Hailey rather than Hailey, herself, we now look for the statement to be more focused upon her and Clint Dunn (Hailey's father) than upon Hailey.

This is not expected.

Question:  Why does the subject do this?

Answer:  The subject may feel 'vulnerable' due to the possible upcoming arrest, and may seek to 'share' the 'responsibilty', not with Adkins, who is not present, but with Clint, who is innocent.  Seeking to portray herself with Clint may indicate a need to associate herself with someone who is not involved in the murder of Hailey Dunn.

It is not expected.  Speaking of Hailey, only in positive terms, from a very personal, maternal matter, for herself (the pronoun "I" to dominate) is expected.

"It all started" is a time period:

Here it is just prior to when Hailey was born; the "two kids fell in love."

The word "that" indicates distance.  In this case, it was more than 15 years ago, making the distance appropriate.

Hailey is then mentioned, and the pronoun "our" is used, common when:

1.  One is speaking for two parents

2.  There is a divorce, step parenting, foster parenting, or adoption in the picture.

We do expect to hear a mother say "my" rather than "our", especially at a memorial, even when speaking for two.  Fathers more often will say "our" when speaking for both, whereas mothers will sometimes begin with "our" but move to "my" quickly.

Note that "Connie" is introduced without any title. This is often the case when everyone knows the person referenced, but in a setting where not everyone knows the person, it can indicate a poor relationship.

Since the release of the affidavit, there has been a split as Hailey's grandmother not only suspected Dunn's live in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, but came to believe that Dunn, herself, was covering for him, and then that Dunn was involved.  This may be reflected in the language.

Did Hailey's grandmother sit with Dunn at the memorial?  Or, was there distance between them, as the language suggests?

The first thing Clint and I did was look at each other and say thank you. Every day thereafter Hailey brought joy and laugh ... joy and laughter into our lives. Very early on she kept us entertained. So full of love, life and a little mischief. Desperate to make people laugh.

The sharing of "Clint and I" is not expected, especially when a mother has lost a child.  The theme of associating herself with a non-suspect in the case continues.

When someone says "the first thing", there is often a second or third, and where it is not present, we often ask, "What was next?" to the subject.  Here, it is followed with "thereafter", which might be the second thing.

A new born child brings joy.  Hailey brought "joy and laugh...", which is repeated, making the topic of "joy" and the topic of "laughter" sensitive to the subject, herself. What would cause something as basic as "joy" to be sensitive?

What would cause a baby, or newborn child, to make others "laugh"?  The joy is a quiet excitement or contentment, often tempered by the lack of sleep, worries over newborn care (especially to young and inexperienced parents) and the financial concerns that a providing father may have.

Note the emphasis is not upon caring for Hailey, but Hailey "entertaining" she and Clint.  In this short statement, we see the word "laugh" repeated. What makes "laughing" sensitive?

Hailey is here described as being a "little mischief", which may be considered cute, though it also may be a subtle negative comment.  It is strange that a child is described as not only entertaining young parents, but that the child is described as being "desperate" to make "people" laugh.  What environment would cause a child to feel the burden, enough to be "desperate" to make "people" (not "me", and not "us", not even "Clint and me") laugh?  Was it something mischievous that caused them to laugh?

We are being given insight into a home which eventually degraded into sexual perversion, drugs, and violence.  At this time in the statement, according to Clint, Dunn was very averse to drug abuse.  Is there something within placing a child in the role of "desperate" to entertain a family that telegraphed, or predicted, the trouble to come?

Clownish behavior is often cute in children yet in context, we are remembering a 13 year old murdered child.  It is not expected in a memorial service to hear anything even slightly negative.

This entertaining of being kept laughing is limited to "very early on" in the statement.  Since the context was the birth and early childhood of Hailey, it would appear unnecessary to add the words "very early on"; with their addition leading the reader to ask,

"After that period of time, did Hailey fail to entertain?  Did the laughter cease?  Was she no longer entertaining them after this period?  This is what is inferred by the additional and seemingly needless words.

Remember:  Unnecessary words are to be deemed double important.

For 29 months we’ve been forced to make due with our fond memories.

The time period "29 months" may be included here because recently Billie Dunn was quoted as giving the wrong time table, with the thinking being this:

An innocent mother of a missing child would know the days, hours and minutes since the child disappeared.  She was off by "months"which was likely a criticism that stung her and brought her to mention the months.

Yet, she continues to avoid the personal "I", and only associates with Clint Dunn.

Clint Dunn eventually moved away from her.  This need for unity, itself, should not be overlooked by the analyst.

Note that "we've" been "forced"; not "I've been..."

Note that they have been "forced" to make due with "fond" memories, indicating that there are memories that are not fond.

"I have lived off the memories of Hailey..." is something more expected because, to a mother of a dead child, there are no 'bad' or 'not fond' memories; everything was good, and considered a learning experience.  To the subject, there are memories and there are "fond" memories.

There may be some memories Dunn does not wish to "make due" with, as not only suggested in the affidavit, but from what we may learn from the forensic testing on the remains.

One of her first shocking moments happened at around age two when I was cooking and Clint found her in our bedroom, scissors in hand. “Look what your daughter has done,” he said. She cut the entire top part of her hair so short it looked like a buzz cut.

Note that "one" of her "first" shocking moments indicates that she had other shocking moments after that.

Note that while cutting her hair, she was "your" daughter, and is not "our" or "my" daughter, in attributing the quote to Clint.

She loved to pretend she was talking to Britney Spears

It is interesting to note the name "Brittany Spears" enter the speech at a memorial for a dead child, as Brittany Spears was seen shaving off her hair, as well, in a mental health breakdown, or a publicity stunt.  Brittany Spears cut her "hair" off in such a manner as to give herself a "buzz cut" and was reportedly hospitalized after.

According to the subject, Hailey was about 2 years of age at this time:

and would often tell us of their play dates.

Two year old having "play dates" and "talking" to "Brittany Spears" is not expected.

What was the household like?  Is this a credible description of a two year old?

As she grew a little older we began to see just how smart she was.

The avoidance of personal experience ("I") continues.

As at six years old she would read my nursing books to me and help me study with ease.

A six year old child reading medical college texts, helping "me" study was done with "ease."

Is this a credible description of a six year old helping her study "with ease" complex college medical books?

There appears to be a disconnect in reality which is often found in abusive mothers.

Mothers of new-borns are asked, "How do you discipline your baby?" knowing that the only appropriate answer is, "She is too young for discipline!"

The answers given would frighten you.

Some will say, of the new born, "She is crying just to get on my nerves" or "She is just being a spoiled brat!" (of new borns!).

Mothers who have been accused of abuse or neglect often exaggerate their parenting skills in order to appear better than they are.  We saw this with Carnel Chamberlain's mother who's boyfriend beat him to death.  She said they were teaching him to be a "man" and had higher expectations for him than his age allowed.

It is difficult to consider a two year old having conversations with an imaginary pop star (role model?) or any six year old reading college medical books, helping study with "ease."

These may be indicators that the subject is deliberately seeking to portray herself as having been a "wonderful" mother, and passing on superior genes.  When asked to describe herself, she called herself a "wonderful " mother at a time when Clint had accused of her buying and selling cocaine, and burning a tattoo into her son's back.

We continue to see the avoidance of personal memories.  Next, as we consider what was found in the home, may be particularly disturbing.

"Slice and dice" videos were found, "gutting deers", Michael Myers mask and "coveralls" that catch blood as the killer murders his victims.  Note what enters her language:

In elementary school, Hailey took two sets of real human lungs to school, a healthy pair and a diseased pair. She thoroughly explained the respiratory system and complications. It seemed to me she was following in my footsteps.

This was spoken at a memorial service for a dead child in which "slice and dice" "blood lust" videos were found in the home.  This is her own words.

Note the horrific prophetic-sounding words:  "she was following in my footsteps."

Here, with human organs being carried to school, the pronoun "my" (singular) is produced.

There is nothing "expected" here in this speech, but it is particularly disturbing that human organs, removed from a person, was considered following in the subject's footsteps.

In the memorial service of a murdered child in which "coveralls" may have played a role, the mother mentions human dissection.

What was this home like?  The mother continues to reveal:

Within her last year, Hailey and her friends walked inside with an old shoe box. What could she be up to? Oh, it’s a dead bat. We’re gonna dissect it, Momma. I said, “Honey, I am so proud but go bury that bat.”

Here we have Hailey (and her friends) carrying a "dead bat" to be "dissected."

If you were suspected in murdering your child with your boyfriend, who has coveralls and you had slice and dice videos, would you recall this memory for the public?

There were videos and pictures of all forms of pornography, including child pornography and bestiality.

Beastliest is the physical abuse (and death) of animals for some one's sexual gratification.  This was found in the home to which Dunn replied in a casual manner, asking who had not received such things, as if everyone had.

Here, we learn that there was a casual attitude in the home towards dead animals, even with the child, which also sounds frightening with the words "in my footsteps."

Note the word "proud" from the subject.

I miss the many times I was doing dishes and looked out the window to see Hailey pretending to put on a rock show, unaware that anyone was watching.

Note that the pronoun "I" enters while doing chores.  This might lead one to ask why the mother felt the need to portray herself as dutiful.

I could go on all day ... she’s more than a pretty face, more than a jokester, more than intelligent, more than a saxophone player, more than an athlete, more than just a little determined. She's now a blissful angel.

The order is important:

1.  Pretty face
2.  jokester
3. intelligent
4.  saxophone player
5.  athlete
6.  determined
7.  blissful angel

Here is the expected "deification" that takes place at so many funerals of young people.  She is not just an "angel" but a "blissful" angel, indicating that she is now happy, or full of "bliss."

I won’t ruin Hailey’s day by speculation so I will close by saying the same thing I said when her life began.

Note that the pronoun "I" is here, with "speculation" as to her murdered child.
Note that "so" gives us the reason why she is doing something, yet here, it is in the negative:  she is not going to speculate.

Please note that this is from the person suspected, along with Shawn Adkins, of her murder.

Thank you, Clint, for giving me such a beautiful daughter. Thank you to my son for being a great brother and friend to my sweet Hailey.

Note the strong seeking of approval or favor from Clint Dunn.  Clint Dunn had revealed much of the abuse in the home, and suspected both Dunn and Adkins, but also feared them both.

Note the strong association in the short speech with someone she has had very little contact with since Hailey's death.  Note that this person, Clint, did not kill Hailey, nor has he been ever been suspected in her death.

Thank you, Hailey, for being my baby and I will love you for ever and a day and I’ll see you in my dreams.

Hailey to be seen not in heaven, as she is a "blissful angel" but in the subject's own dreams.

There is a lack of personal connection in the speech until the very end, and readers may be disturbed by the facts of this case as seen in the affidavit, and the mother's choice of wording, including human organs and a dead bat.

These are most unexpected but give insight into what the home was like, further giving credibility to the sworn police affidavit.

The statement began with association with an innocent person (Clint Dunn) which often suggests importance.  It closed in the same manner, firming the stance of unity with someone not suspected in the death of Hailey Dunn.  This is a transparent attempt to influence future jurors as was expected.

This speech likely left many of those hoping for justice for Hailey shocked at the references used, yet is consistent with what we have learned about the home life that Hailey was brought up in.  The very words of Clint Dunn in describing said home now appear truthful, just as the police affidavit does.  This is the "leakage" so well described by Statement Analyst and Investigator, Kaaryn Gough.

As the subject reached into memory, the language she chose came from, not a vacuum, but from somewhere.

Who would have thought that human organs and a dead animal would be part of the speech of a  murdered child?

I thought the story of the dead bat was odd considering all the memories there were to share.

Peter Hyatt said...

It is shocking.

I recently experienced my own niece's death (a teen) and listened to her mother speak (and continue to speak), so expectation was balanced.

The references to a dead human's organs and a dead bat are both shocking, given the context, but not shocking, given the author.

NO WAY John Young wrote that!

How did people sit through the "dead bat" without walking out??

I am disgusted that she was even allowed to attend the Memorial. She should be behind bars!

The woman who 'read' that was NOT a grieving Mother!

If my child had been murdered I would struggled through raw emotion and tears, from my heart NOT from a piece of paper. She was as cold as ice!

@ Peter

The audio was so bad no one could understand what was being said.

I'm surprised people didn't get up and walk out, or make a huge fuss. So many people attended that memorial to get a look at Billie Dunn rather than to honor Hailey. They are obsessed with Billie.

Aside from SA, how does a mother even speak at this time. I would not be able to. Was this taped? Did she cry, did she struggle to say the words?

Peter,my husband and I have often said when our children did something they shouldn't, "Look what your daughter/son did". I don't know how to explain why we've used that phrase other than that type of behavior came from your genes not mine. It's also only said by the person that finds out what they did first. It may be a southern slang because I've heard it said from different people in different southern states all my life.
I'm sure some of us have already read the piece on Hope For Hailey regarding the breakdown of why the song was what it was and how people are nit picking the words of the "last minute" song, Billie's words and the words of Hailey's friend. This memorial was planned weeks in advance; no need for "last minute" song choices. They are attempting to cover their insensitive choices. I will bet the words didn't sit well with members of BACA, in fact, more of a slap in their face.
I was not surprised by the thoughtless acts or words as the Billie supporters have been thoughtless and degrading since day 1.

I also think its interesting that in the photo above Billie is looking right at the camera and appears fine. Does not look like she's been crying. Which is what a real mother would be doing!

Is David in the blue shirt by Billie?

While I watched her pre-recorded speech I was very uncomfortable. I was thinking "these are her memories of her beautiful child?" Reading your analysis of her speech, I now realize why it creeped me out so much. She was and is so disconnected from Hailey's life. I actually gasped when she brought up the lungs.

Your so very right about the way we tend to "deify" the dead. My nephew died young in an accident. He was a bit of a hellion and had gotten in some trouble in the past. Those of us who spoke at his memorial spoke only of the good times, his love of family, friends and sports, the special memories, the fun we had with him, . Any "trouble" we may have had with him was forgotten.

She said what she thought a "grieving mother" would say. She has no idea.

Billie mentions that "Connie" was peaking around the curtain...both grandmother's names are Connie. Yet it comes across to me that she is referring to Clint's mom. She is trying really hard to attach herself to Clint. So why wasn't better plans made to include Clint's mom? Clint's mom was made to look like an after thought.

Yes David is in the blue shirt by Billie.

Shelley,
Yes, it was taped and played at the memorial. No, she did not cry nor struggle to speak. She read in a monotone, quickly, and with run-on sentences, never once looking up from the page. Just the WAY she read was very disturbing, never mind WHAT she said!

Billie looks just like her mother, rode hard and put up wet. In their case, thrown out wet.
It was sickening watching Billie try to align herself with Clint. Hopefully he will return to California again and leave Billie in Austin AGAIN.
I love how the news continued to give Billies age of 36. Shawn liked "young girls" therefore Billie's need to look young in order to hold his interest. Everyone BUT Billie knew Shawn would move on to someone younger and prettier( doesn't take much to be prettier than Billie).

The mention of Hailey reading her medical books to her "with ease" at a young age as well as handling body parts of deceased humans as well as dissecting a rat and the odd comments about using scissors to nearly buzz cut her own hair at age two is setting the stage. I can't imagine anyone speaking of their "baby" like BD has.

Previous statement: “Monday morning, I looked in her room and it was dark and it looked like she was laying in bed. But I didn`t go touch her, make sure that was her. I just peeked in to make sure she was in bed to ease my mind and..."

Recent statement: “As at six years old she would read my nursing books to me and help me study with ease.”

Is there something of leakage with the word “ease” It was previously used in a very sensitive statement. “Ease” – maybe a life of “ease” would have been something she desired. Maybe when she was killed it was done with so much “ease” it shocked her.

"first shocking moments" second, brings two sets of human lungs to school, third, dissects a bat.

the bat, the lungs, hailey being mischeivous, trying to be "entertaining", it alls leaks consciousness of guilt. I can't quite put words to it but its also a subtle disparaging.. recalling memories that involve organs, dead animals, etc.

she also starts off her list of saying what hailey is "more than" she gets to "blissful angel" last.

i think in this case, with "more than" being at the beginning of the sentence, special consideration should be at the end of the list, she's a blissful angel. its very eerie how "proud" billie is that her daughter is a blissful angel considering someone "stole and murdered her"

I wrote a statement for my dad's funearl a couple months ago. (not sure what the proper term would be) My sister got upt o read it because I do not do well in front of crowds.

anyways it talked about my dad's favorite activities, how hard we worked, his morals and ethics that were so special and uncommon.. I tried to add some humor by sharing how the stars must have played a trick on him by giving him, me, as his daughter, becasue my dad was a car guy who was very meticulous about cars and repairs. and in my life time i hit several deer, had cars break down, and lots of trouble. nothing that would "embarass" my dad.

we even cremated him because when i went to see him at the funeral home he didn't look well enough to have an open casket. i wanted to protect him at all costs and wouldn't have shared any story that might have embarassed him.

For 29 months we’ve been forced to make due with our fond memories.

"Memories" implies they already knew she was dead for 29 months. We focused on the good times or happy times we Hailey but not memories prior to knowing she was gone.

How does one get their hands on a human set of lungs? Hospitals are very careful to destroy all bio items. Was Billie taking human parts out of the hospital? I have never heard of anyone having access to human organs much less allowing an elementary student to carry them around.

how many of you have written a speech at your childs memorial? so incredibly quick to judge and make assumptions. if it is SO obvious and the evidence is SO voluminous billie dunn is guilty or knows who is and should be thrown in jail for murder, why then are there no arrests? are the police investigators involved not qualified to conduct them? not qualified to follow through with investigations? you are the ones without qualifications. are they oblivious to the mounds of legitimate evidence you have? please. if half the effort was put into becoming an criminal investigator yourselves to take action in the future or to make headway in this particular case as is put into smearing bullshit across a forum, you might be of some help. until then, you're simply judgemental talking heads gossiping about a childs murder.

I want to speak to the comment about why people did not walk out.

I was at the memorial, and could hear it just fine.
1.her pre-recorded speech was very short.
2. Standing up and walking out would have been very rude. I could not care about Billie, but I would not want to disrespect Connie or other family that are innocent in all of this.

3. I caught myself not listening to Billie’s rant, but watching the crowd and family during it. As a matter of fact, after reading it above I noticed that I ignored a lot of it.
4. I was there for Hailey!
5. Being there and watching BD, was very telling. I did not want to miss anything she did.

Yes I was pissed at the pre-recorded crap from Billie.
I hated the fact that a large number of photos had her in them.
I despise the fact that they made miss Connie move down with the family.
But I was there to honor Hailey so I sat through the bad to get to the good.

Justice for Hailey!!!!

she also keeps inferrnig about how she was waiting for the day she would have to tell her family hailey was gone and how they would handle it. she has mentioned this a couple times now so the "ticking time" was on her mind

How does one get their hands on a human set of lungs? Hospitals are very careful to destroy all bio items. Was Billie taking human parts out of the hospital? I have never heard of anyone having access to human organs much less allowing an elementary student to carry them around.

Anyone who thinks LE is not reading every statement made on this blog is foolish.

They are looking at the analysis that PH writes, and taking notes.

If you take the personal stuff out, and the speculations are omitted. And look specifically at the science of statement analysis, you can pick out good viable points.

Most of our comments are ignored, including my own. So what PH is doing is part of a greater good.

Please re-read #5. That's the sole reason you were there. It had nothing to do with Hailey. You wanted to see DRAMA!!! (P.S. Hailey's not here anymore and therefore can't create drama... it's ALL about Billie with you people.)

I think Billie is guilty of something, although I don't know what and neither do you, and you sure won't find out what happened to Hailey here on this blog. But I don't think Billie will be arrested UNLESS Shawn is arrested first and the house of cards comes crumbling down.

When I began this article, I was wondering how a eulogy could be analyzed, since they tend to be so idealized and not about factual reality. When I read the statement analysis, it shocked me how much was revealed. These were the best memories, the ones BD wanted to highlight to represent her relationship with Hailey.

The aligning of herself with Clint Dunn is the main message of this eulogy.

Peter,

I agree it was not young who wrote it. Billie and SCC worked on it together.

Young sat in the audiance, and watched BD like a hawk. Everytime she stood or walked Youngs head would pop out of the crowd.

If BD is not found guilty, I will need a lot of catsup on the hat I will have to eat.

As matter of interest, where did Billie get 2 sets of human lungs to give to Hailey?

It is disturbing that in her eulogy about Hailey she introduces blood, Lungs, cutting, dead bat, dissection.

Why does she introduce these gory memories rather than her ability to play sax, her cheerleading or any other number of things she succeeded in at school.

Is it because the manner of death, the motive for The murder, the subsequent cover up, the child porn, bestiality and true crime are Leaking out?

When she thinks of Hailey it is not the way we saw and see her, instead it is through the lens of sexual abuse, sexual homicide and perhaps even dismemberment?

She does not see Hailey through rose tinted glasses, instead she sees hailey through Blood stained glasses.

Everything she says and does can and will be used against her.

If you can buy real human lungs somewhere, I cant find them for sale.

They might have been from a deer?

There has been some speculation that Hailey was suffocated, so this might have been some lost marbles?

Hobnob said...

Remember casey anthony, all the evidence proved she murdered Caylee, even jurors said they knew she did it but the state hadn't proven it's case.

The case could be as watertight as is possible, no one however can rely on a jury to do the right thing.

The jury will decide what it wants regarding the verdict.

They can find the verdict based on the facts of the case.

They can find a verdict based on the gender, attractiveness, intelligence, fame of the defendant.

They can find a verdict which is made to prove some perceived point of contention such as race, gender, nationality, sexual orientation.

They can find a verdict based on the fact they can't be bothered to actually think.

They can find a verdict based on what they think they will receive for their books, interviews and the like.

They can find a verdict because they like the prosecuter or defence attorney or because they disliked them.

They can find a verdict based on all, some or none of the evidence.

There is a multitude of reasons as to why a jury reached the verdict they did.

The court has no say in how they reach their verdict, nor can it ignore the verdict no matter how right or wrong it is, if they could we wouldn't have juries.

It is entirely possible that a jury could find billie innocent despite all the evidence, she could then say yes i helped murder my daughter and she could not be retried due to double jeopardy.

In the UK we abolished this so if new evidence crops up such as forensic, witness or even a confession, they can be retried.

I would hope that given the crime both billie and shawn are found guilty and sentenced to death, sadly though it is not for us to force a jury to agree, as we saw in the anthony case.

I agree. It is incredibly disturbing. Noted is the memory of not wanting to touch a dead thing (bat).

Also noted is that the actions are of Hailey to Billie, as in Hailey helping Billie, Hailey bringing to Billie etc. Hailey is the object to reflect back on Billie. This is incredibly telling and incredibly sad.

Human lungs would be available in the hospital especially if it was a teaching hospital.

I can't see a hospital saying sure take these lungs for your daughter's presentation.

The lungs would have to come from people who donated their bodies and at the end of dissection (all doctors do this) the remains are either handed back to the family for burial/cremation of the hospital pays for it.

I am not aware of any companies that sell human organs for science classes again since it is from a person.
Animal organs are available aplenty they can be bought from abbatoirs or companies selling science equipment or depending what you need even a butcher.

Billie's comment was real human lungs. Snyder hospital is not a teaching hospital. Billie also stated it was when Hailey was in elementary school, which is through 5th grade in my area of Texas. I have no idea how to acquire human lungs except if one of the doctors Billie was having an affair with, had lungs in jars in his office.

As for the post regarding any of us preparing a eulogy for our child. Thank God no I have not but one of my friends buried her son May 11. She talked about his love of his family, his FFA chapter, activities he did with the FFA, his love for his fiance and their future. There was nothing negative in anything that she or anyone else said. Of course the situation was different, her son died in a motorcycle accident instead of being murdered and left in the "ugly fields" that Billie insinuated Hailey was in and proved to be in.

Shawn has been honest when he stated who to look at and where to look. He said it so we can say it for him. He became deceptive when asked specifics regarding Hailey's demise. He is not strong enough to to stand up to questions. He is a weak child in an adult body holding onto his mama's apron strings doing as he is told, just like he did when he was with Billie. She told him what to do, when to do it, and who to do it to. She wasn't woman enough for his fantasies so he brought in a 3rd female. Billie couldn't control all his fantasies or he wouldn't have had multiple partners she didn't approve. She would pout about his relations with others because he eventually returned to her bed. Hailey told of him outside her bedroom door which tells us Hailey was part of his fantasies. He just had to wait until Billie gave him the okay to act on them. Hailey's best friend said Hailey could be mean when she was mad. Billie and Shawn knew Hailey wouldn't be silent after Shawn was done with her so they silenced her permanently, or so they thought. Hailey continues to speak and will until she gets justice!

Wow. I feel there is quite a bit of jealousy and victim blaming going on in BJD´s speech.

Hailey is described as mischievous, interested in "gory stuff" (medicine books, the lungs, the bat), pretty and "more than just a little determined".
"It seemed to me she was following in my footsteps.".

The scene BJD describes of Hailey playing pretend "unaware that anyone was watching" in this context has a ring of "doing her own thing, regardless of anyone else".

So Hailey shared Shaws interest in gory stuff. Shawn liked young girls. Hailey was mischievous, determined and pretty. And BJD felt that she was "following in (her) footsteps" - possibly regardless whether BJD noticed or not.

So did BJD feel that Hailey was coming on to Shawn?
That she provoked him, not in the usual manner of a rebellious teenager with a mind of her own, but in a sexual way? Perhaps to get back at her mother? Which would mean, she is blaming Hailey for her own death.

And, of course: No regrets.
She does not say that she misses Hailey, no regrets that she could not be there for her/protect/save her... from the beginning "when two kids fell in love" to the end "my son, my sweet Hailey, my baby, my dreams" - it´s once again all about BJD.

The death of the eight-month-old son of a faith-healing couple has been ruled a homicide by a medical examiner.

Brandon Schaible died on April 18 at his home in Rhawnhurst, Philadelphia, from bacterial pneumonia, severe dehydration and an infection after his parents withheld medical care, according to a report by Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Gary Collins.

It read: "By the parents' own admission, they did not seek or provide medical care for their child."

Herbert and Catherine Schaible attend the First Century Gospel Church in Juniata Park. As fundamentalist Christians they shun medical care because of their faith in the power of prayer to heal.

The couple were sentenced to 10 years' probation in 2010 after their two-year-old son, Kent, died in 2009 from pneumonia.

At the time, prosecutors said the boy could have been saved with basic medical care, possibly even over-the-counter medication.

Defence lawyers argued their clients did not know how sick the child really was and that their beliefs had no impact on their care.

Last month, a judge ruled the couple - who have seven other children - violated a condition of their probation requiring them to seek medical care for their children.

They acknowledged that Brandon had been crying, experiencing diarrhoea and having trouble sleeping and breathing before his death.

The Schaibles now face criminal charges.

I have an analysis question:
Background Info:
When I was a senior in high school (year 2000), a family that has been best friends with my family since I was 4, experienced horrific tragedy. While driving to visit family on a Sunday after church, a drunk driver struck their car (all 4 family members - dad, mom, C - who is my age, and LA - who was 9, were in the car). The mom's right side of her body was crushed and she went into a coma at the scene. LA was sitting just behind their mom, and C was sitting behind their dad. LA was thrown into her sister's lap, where she died immediately. Their mom was in a coma for a long time, not knowing that LA had been killed, and, obviously, the funeral service for LA had to go forward with Mom still in a coma.

At the funeral, our preacher recounted humorous stories of LA, as are involved in many funerals. One such story, that was my favorite, and that I've heard her parents tell many times since, went like this:

For all of LA's sweet, quiet spirit, she had a strong-headed streak in her...[our preacher proceeded to tell of a time that LA had disobeyed her mom. Her dad tried to use the moment to teach her the importance of obeying her parents, and said, "LA, do you know what they did to children who disobeyed their parents in the Old Testament?" LA replied, "No." Her dad said, "They stoned them!" He anticipated a shocked and convicted reaction from LA, but instead, LA put her hands on her hips, looked him squarely in the eye, and said, "So? What did they do to them in the New Testament?!"]

I know that was long, but my question is this: We did not find the story at my friend's memorial service to be inappropriate at all. Since statement analysis concludes BJD to have been making disparaging and inappropriate comments about Hailey at her memorial, in the telling of times that she displayed humorous mischievousness, is this solely because she is suspected in her daughter's death? I certainly believe she was involved in, if not the ring-leader in, Hailey's death. In my experience, though, telling endearing stories of mischief at a child's memorial, is a very common and effective way to lighten the mood in a small way.

Does the fact that our preacher was telling LA's story, make a difference in the appropriateness of the comments? That same year, a classmate and close friend of mine died, also in a car accident, and her friends and teachers told similar stories at her funeral. In neither of these examples, though, did the PARENTS tell them. Is that the difference?

I would like to understand the principle used to declare BJD's story to be inappropriate.

dadgum said...

I don't understand why they are referred to as "Fundamentalist Christians".

Luke was a physician. He was pretty fundamental.

rkg said...

Oh, also, I did cringe when reading the stories about the bat and the lungs. Those may be interesting memories for BJD, but to tell those kinds of stories at Hailey's memorial service, seems too gruesome, considering the way she died (it doesn't matter whether the person telling them was complicit in her death or not - just simply the fact that strewn remains of the memorialized child were found laying in the dirt, makes those types of stories too sensitive to tell at an event to honor her life and mourn for her).

The dead bat thing was worse than the lungs, I think. I'm not sure why I think that, but the one just strikes me as worse than the other. I wonder why.

To RKG:

Peter will probably answer you, but my 2-cents is that context is everything. One difference between your story and BJD's is that the preacher told the story, not LA's mother or father. Being a parent of a deceased child DOES make a difference in what you say vs. what others would choose to say in the same memorial service. I think Peter might say this relates to what is "expected" (behaviorally) vs. the "unexpected." Also, since the speaker was a preacher, you'd expect that he'd remember an incident relating to bible interpretation.

Additionally, there was humor to your story. The story ended in a punchline that reflected favorably on LA: it showed her intelligence level. Humor makes memories more sentimental. I am not sure how some of BJD's stories reflected well on Hailey: some were good, some were neutral, and some were downright weird. None were what I'd call "sentimental" or "humorous."

The judge sends the 12 men & women back into the deliberation room, telling them to try again. As Travis’ family leaves in tears, Arias is seen in court smiling and laughing while the jury decides if she will be executed for the brutal murder. Will the jurors reach a verdict?

Awwww, thanks for the info Anon 9:44.... as an RN, some of the best nurses I worked for/with have been LVNs... they taught---and continue to teach-- so much. Many times, LVNs are the true nurses "in the trenches." So, yeah, I'm bummed that BJD is "one of us."

Trixiebelle said...

ps... regarding BJD's comment "real human lungs......" WTF????? No way, no how did Hailey bring real human lungs to school as a science project. BJD was just bragging, making the story better. Along with her Bull$hit about "Clint this, and Clint that...." She just wants to make it seem like "oh, we were just a bunch of crazy young kids in love, making babies and working hard in this world." Hey, a$$hole, I'm glad you were dumb enough to let your nursing expire because clearly, you are not a true nurse.

You can click on disciplinary action to read what transpired for her to get her license back and what her stipulations are.

Baxtie,
Thanks for the answer. I thought that the fact that the preacher said it, and not the parents, was part of the difference. The story was meant to convey LA's "sassy" streak, but, you make a good point, that the ending pointed also to her intelligence at being able to process and respond in the way she did.

I took BJD's comments about the hair-cutting to be okay, and just that she didn't pull the story off in a comical or endearing way. Those are the kinds of things parents look back on and laugh at. (For those who asked, yes, plenty of little ones get to their parents' scissors at some point - or even their own safety scissors - and chop up their hair; my own daughter did that, the evening before kindergarten, too, at 8:15ish at night, when it was too late to go somewhere to fix, and I had to do my best to even it all out. I don't fault BJD for that. I fault her for a LOT of things, but let's call that one what it is: normal.)

The other references at the memorial, however: not so normal.

Thank you for your years of serving others as a nurse. We have had 2 shifts of LPN/RNs in our home, assisting in the care of our youngest son Sam, for some 7 years. (wow..every time I say that it's a shock!) Sam sustained a severe TBI in a MVA. You know what it takes to get nurses at home..

I have a great love and appreciation for folks who care for others. All of Sam's caregivers have been here daily for over 4 years..and that says a lot.

Thank you Trixiebelle, and God bless you..

Retrace this mother's footsteps. If she was stripping, involved in prostitution, drugs, deviant sex, and lies as implied by many including, the men in her life, Clint Dunn and Shawn Adkins, for her to insinuate that Hailey was following in her footsteps is absolutely damning with faint praise.

Billie was not a real nurse like an RN or LPN, Double check that info. At one time she was in the nursing field but she can no longer hold that position.

Maybe she is stripping again.

Billie left CC so she wouldn't under the watchful eye of the people of CC and LE. In Austin she blends in and can as she pleases and those people don't even blink an eye. They care what she is doing.

But we know the truth and we know her lifestyle. A leopard doesn't change her spots.

She is running her mouth to the media putting on that grieving, loving Mother act trying to convince them she wants to find Hailey's killer but we know who she is and what she is and we are not buying her lies and crap.

She knows who killed Hailey....all she has to do is look in the mirror and look at her Shawn Boy.

It's hard to find a family that doesn't have a story about someone cutting their own hair when they were little. Yes, kids do get into things sometimes. No, there is no parent alive that can always be hovering over their child every second of every day, and even if they could that's not exactly healthy, mentally, for either party involved. Sure, we should keep scissors put away, and meds locked up and sharp corners covered, and....what? bubble wrap the kids? but they might suffocate.....

A question: If the transcription is wrong in regards to homophones, does that sometimes affect the analysis?

For example:

[...] Connie peaking under and around the curtain [...]

For 29 months we’ve been forced to make due [...]

It might sound far-fetched, but it sounds like Connie was at her highest point when she was under and around the curtain; it sounds like they are getting money up since they owe something, since they are "making due".

All the more reason for people to pay attention when they are transcribing, since the proper phrases are "peeking" and "make do". I realize that those reading might not assume Connie is peaking at the highest point and others are making a payment that is due, but you never know.

I think that sometimes confusing one word for another could at times affect analysis, if the analyst doesn't realize there has been a mistake.

When I was in elementary school the public health nurse brought in a pair of lungs enclosed in a glass case to show us the effects of cigarette smoking on the lungs. It is interesting that readership have pointed out that her statement starts and ends with BJD.

There is something in Psychology called,The Primacy and Recency effect.

These are terms used in psychology to describe the effect of order of presentation on memory. The primacy effect results in information presented earlier being better remembered than information presented later on. The recency effect results in better recall of the most recent.

Given that BJD starts and ends with herself, could it be that she doesn't recall good times with Hailey, therefor she has to make up lie's.Ie,the human lungs, and recall the negative times of Hailey's life,as apposed to recalling all the good times.

Also, was this an unconscious and or conscious act on behalf of BJD, to place herself at the begining and at the end of her statement. In other word's,in her mind it is all about her and not Hailey.

Unfortunately for BJD this is a Statement Analysis site, and every word be it at the beginning of a statement in the middle or at the end, will be analized

Just a thought...

I wonder how Pointhunter is doing these days, is he okay, or still having to lay low because of the threats he was getting? I read that he did attend Haileys' memorial and would be interested to know his reaction to Billies' prerecorded scripted statement and her handling of the memorial; but more so, wishing him well.

I was a little surprised that Haileys' close grandmother, Clints' mother Connie, was not seated with the family members or allowed to pay homage to Hailey with some kind words for Hailey or memories of her, since they were reputed to be close and Hailey loved her; also that the minister of her church that Hailey also attended, was not present to speak a message from the scriptures on Haileys' behalf. IMO, these slights were terribly dishonorable to Haileys' memory, both to those two who were shunned and also to God whose name I do not recall being mentioned.

2/23/2011

Host: Tell us about when Hailey was born?

Connie: Oh, She was so beautiful. When, when she was born. There was only two people allowed in there besides Billie and I wasn't one of them. So I was trying to peek underneath the curtain and the nurse closed the door on us, on my daughter and I. But she was a beautiful baby. She was, she was funny person. She just, when she crawled, the way she crawled, it was just so special. We really miss..

Host: What day was Hailey born?

Connie: August 27, 1997 , I mean August 28, 1997. I'm sorry.

Host : Were there a lot of people in the hospital?

Connie: You know, I really don't know. I was just so

Host: The two grandmothers were there at the hospital?

Connie: No the other grandmother, she wasn't there but my daughter Mary was there and her great-aunt Teresa was there and Clint and of course Billie.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find the "human lungs" anecdote as ridiculous as it is disturbing??

Would it even be *possible* for the likes of BJD to procure such an item in a legitimate (ie.LEGAL) manner? Doubtful.

And, IF an elementary student happened to arrive at school with an ACTUAL set of human organs, I think it would create quite a stir---to the point of confiscation of the items and notification of the proper authorities.

I mean, seriously, would any of YOU trust the likes of BJD to explain how the family came to be in possession of human body parts?
It's not like she's a medical researcher or something...
She's a marginally educated druggie stripper, with *extremely* suspect lifestyle/parenting skills... even BEFORE she had a child "missing" under hinky circumstances!

Please! That "anecdote" was either an out and out fabrication of Billie's twisted mind or some educators have some serious 'splainin to do.

Licensed vocational nurses work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, nursing care facilities and doctor's offices.

My take 1138
Hailey was everything Billie wished she could be. Beautiful, popular, athletic, artistic, with the brains and dreams to make a better life for herself than what she lived in. Billie knew Hailey would achieve the goals she set for herself and couldn't stand it. She wanted her to follow in her own footsteps, pregnant in high school, ugly, sadistic, unpopular, desperate to hold onto a man in a run down shack which she couldn't pay the utilities for due to drug addiction. To prevent Hailey from achieving her goals and desperate to keep "her man", she gave Hailey to "her man" for Christmas while she watched the breath/life/dreams/goals slip out of her daughter. Yes that's a grim picture to paint but reality is grim at times. Now for LE to figure out where Hailey's last breath occurred, Mitchell or Scurry county. They know the who and how, just need to figure out what county and have the new grand jury convene to complete things.

Worse, IMO, is that she was not allowed to sit with the family members or participate in the memorial ceremonies, yet she was clearly a vital part of Haileys' life. Very sad. Poor thing, I wish her well. Observer

Shelley,
Yes, it was taped and played at the memorial. No, she did not cry nor struggle to speak. She read in a monotone, quickly, and with run-on sentences, never once looking up from the page. Just the WAY she read was very disturbing, never mind WHAT she said!

Thank you dahbou. I will see if I can find the video

I figured she would not cry. But this takes any doubt anyone could have that she was guilty.

My husband lost his sister over 5 years ago in an accident. He is very strong mentally and physically. Yet, to this day, a photo, a song she loved, or a memory still brings him to tears. The funeral he was totally broke down on his knees. A child is a deeper bond. Or should be.

The fact taht she stood up there with out breaking down should have remvoed any doubt of her guilt from all of her supporters.

And if they are reading this, I dont want to hear how everyone deals with greif different. We know this already. A parent that loves their child would have been totally devestated. Tears, emotion, lost. Parents who do not care can walk through it like they are just sharing someone elses bad news.

Billie didnt cry as she spoke of her daughter at her funeral. That proves she didnt love that child.

And by the way, my husband had a cold mother, an absent father and was abused as a child. Yet he is very attached to our children. He had an arguement with the older one and that even brought tears to his eyes.

So lose the excuses about why someone has no emotion. Billie is not innocent and its time for all the supporters to face it. You have nothing to back her up. Nothing at all.

And now that she stood at her daughters funeral and spoke about her with out a tear should be the final thing for you to see she does not have a heart.

While all this was transpiring, Billie had claimed the seat to clints left left but when Billie got up to bully miss Connie, Clint had David move to the seat Billie had vacated which resulted in Billie stomping her foot after saying something to David and Clint.
This is why the service didn't start at 3pm as scheduled.
Billie attempted to show the grieving mother when the pictures began by throwing herself on the woman to her left but zoom lenses showed her dry eyes closed, not watching.

Thank you to those who clarified that Connie Jones was in attendance at Haileys' memorial. I appreciate the correction being made; also that Miss Connie was eventually seated with the family, even if it apparently was the result of Billie Jean creating some sort of rucus in the bleachers, or wherever.

Still, I don't understand why she was not allowed to speak some words of kindness for Hailey, or why her minister wasn't there to read some scriptures for Hailey since Hailey did attend her church.

Miss Connie might not be educated or socially astute, but I feel quite certain she has 'billies' number' down pat. God bless her heart, I'd be surprised if Billie has her fooled for one second.

Billie Dunn is well aware of the majority see through her and know she killed Hailey. She dumbs things down, but she knows.

This is why she put up a fuss when Connie chose not sit with her. She felt she had the right to control/direct and dictate who should sit where. But why do you think she did this? Cause she knows the public (potential jury) is watching, and she can't have them seeing that Hailey's own grandmother has ill feelings toward BJD. This would show that even Grandma suspects her daughter in law of murder.
She is trying to form an alliance with Clint, at least for the cameras. She had control of the memorial and if they didn't do what she said, they would have missed out on being there. One more time she had control over Hailey and everyone close to her.
This crazy scum of a woman will never let Hailey rest as long as she is in control.

I agree with some of the other commenters. There is not one story of personal warmth in what BD recalls. She never recalls a hug or a "Mom, I love you." She doesn't recall any words being exchanged, just scenarios where she objectified Hailey, was observing her or distancing from her. As to BD's previous quote that she saw Hailey in her bed, but did not go touch her, to see if it was her, that is chilling. Seems a mother who is also a nurse would naturally be more empathetic and compassionate. Instinct would tell her to move closer and check for sure. However, I have known of dispassionate nurses (male and female) who like any other profession are in it for the paycheck and the drugs.

Anon @3:34, just like your contemporay Billie Jean, you obviously are just another cold hearted POS. Miss Connie posting something on Haileys' face book page or on her memorial page could never replace the kind words she could have spoken at Haileys' Memorial had she been given the opportunity.

Wow. Villie isn't showing a disconnect, IMO. She is just lying again. She couldn't think of positive things to say about her daughter, so she created more lies. Since she is certain that she is smarter than everyone else, she was certain everyone would believe anything she said.

Her 6-year-old daughter did not help her with her LVN homework. I CAN envision Villie showing a six-year-old child medical diagrams of naked men and grotesque photos of various disorders.

A two-year-old uses sentences with 2 to 4 words and repeats words overheard in conversation. They don't have pretend conversations with Brittany Spears. Villie mentioned the name Brittany because someone on FB said Villie looked like Brittany with her new hair style. Villie used the Brittany statement in her daughter's memorial to draw attention to HERSELF.

For those who are interested in abnormal behavior, some questions are:
-Was Villie always stoned? Is this is why she couldn't remember anything from Hailey's childhood to present at the memorial?
-Was Villie always an absent parent? Is this is why she couldn't remember any real events from Hailey's childhood?
My vote is 'all of the above'.

Billie certainly IS lying OldPsychNurse, if she thinks she's recalling from age two that Brittany Spears was Haileys' dream idol. AIN'T No Way.

If Brittany Spears was ever Haileys' idol at all it would have been more like when she was ten to twelve years old, certainly not TWO or anywhere even close to that age. Besides, Mily Cyrus the favorite of most little girls until they turn closer to eleven, or so.

I doubt this idot even knew her little toddler was watching cartoons all day, and probably still liked watching some of the cartoons even at age thirteen.

Here's ANOTHER example of Villie's unconcern for Hailey (as if there weren't enough):

Every sober adult with an IQ over 70 knows that all bats should be considered carriers of rabies. Dead bats are always considered to be positive for rabies. Many parents would have taken their child to the ER for rabies vaccination after seeing that they had been exposed to a dead bat. Responsible parents would have at least demanded that the child step away from the bat, get into the shower, and then buried the rabies carrier (always consider them positive) where the child couldn't touch it again.

I was thinking the same thing! Telling Hailey to go bury it was ridiculous. And what kind of "equipment" did Hailey have to do an autopsy? A butter knife?

Absolutely crazy!

Shawn, who dissects deer with a chainsaw, is far more likely to have wanted to dissect a bat than Hailey. IMO, Villie lied about this memory too because of the lack of memories she has with her own daughter.

My daughter is grown and lives in a different state. One of the things I miss the most... standing in the kitchen cooking and having her walk up behind me and put her arms around me, with her chin on my shoulder, leaning her head into mine.

When she was born she was so small, she slept in a dresser drawer on the floor, during the day.

My mother went to Florida and picked flats of strawberries. We had them on the kitchen floor getting them ready for canning. I have a picture of where she crawled under the table and is sitting there with strawberries in both hands and all over her face and clothes.

These are the type of memories a mother should have of their child, not the images Billie spoke of.

BTW my daughter will be 30 next month, she still comes up behind me when I'm cooking and puts her arms around me.

No, anon @1:55. You have no right to demand or request that any of us say anything we chose to say. This is a statement analysis blog site, we still have freedome of speech in this US of A, and we are at liberty to analyize any statemnts made here; also some of us are quite adept at analyzing eye and body movement as well as the actions of others. You don't like it, leave. Observer

Hey super genius, did you even read what I wrote? The ok back to it comment means go back to bashing! It was meant as a joke, to lighten the mood for one second!

Statement analysis requires you actually read before you attack.

And what the heck is freedome? Statemnts and analyize ?????? Did you mean Freedom statement and analyze?

I am not surprised that Billie bullied Connie Jones and stomped her feet in protest of Clint and David while attendees watched her crudeness.

This a woman who is emotionally void, execpt when she wants her way.

No tears for Hailey from Billie the bully, while other people cried and mourned for a child who was taken from their community at the hands of a murderer.

My heart goes out to grandma Connie, who knows that Billie put Hailey in harms way with reckless indifference to her life.

Kerplunk is a game where plastic sticks are inserted through holes in a clear vertical plastic tube.
Where they cross inside th tube a platform is made.

Marbles are then poured in the top of the tube to fallinto the platform.

Each player removes a stick hopig not to allow any marbles to fall through and into his tray.

The winner is the one with the least marbles.

Kerplunk came about as a reference to Kaaryn Gough's references to leaking marbles.
Kaaryn's reference to leaking marbles in SA made me think of the game of kerplunk where the aim is to not leak (allow marbles to drop)
Eventually, as in the game, marbles will fall.
The subject mat attempt to control what marbles fall by limiting their statements as to quantity, questions asked or information released, akin to deciding which straw to pull out to release the minimum of marbles when the player knows no matter what they pull marbles will fall.

The subject may have to admit to something in order to not admit to everything or to admitting the important stuff.

It isn't what they say that can tell us what happened, it is also what they don't say that can be just as revealing.

The subject admits to certain things hoping it will siffice whilst LE and statement analysts see that the information surrounds a gap, a gap which is sensitive to the subject and must be thus avoided.

Also in most cases when the subject is deceptive somewhee in their words is a nugget of truth,
the nugget of information is of something sensitive to the subject.
It can be in relation to an alleged check, a conversation, a sighting, an action.

Something was said or done, not at the time suggested, or the type of wods used, minimising one aspect and maximising another.

The words of the subject are the marbles, the words of the investigator are the straws.
Ask the right question is the same as pull the right straw.
In this case the game is not the one with the least marbles wins ( the subject) rather, the one with the most marbles wins (the investigator)

Washing dishes->water?
And this 'eulogy' to Hailey by her mother was only 2 minutes long? My kids are alive and I often am one of those parents that goes on and on about how cute my kids are, what they do or say, etc ad nauseum so I'm not really getting the "mom vibe" off of this eulogy. Poor Hailey:(

Billie stated Hailey handled a dead bat.
This places Hailey in category I, and does NOT automatically require the series of 4 vaccinations.
Since the animal was available, the animal should have been tested, or ruled out by a medical doctor. (Not a by 'LVN'.)
The following is from the CDC.
WHO's guidelines are similar.

"When should I seek medical attention? (Exposure)

The rabies virus is transmitted through saliva or brain/nervous system tissue. You can only get rabies by coming in contact with these specific bodily excretions and tissues.

It's important to remember that rabies is a medical urgency but not an emergency. Decisions should not be delayed."

How is rabies diagnosed?

In animals, rabies is diagnosed using the direct fluorescent antibody (DFA) test, which looks for the presence of rabies virus antigens in brain tissue. In humans, several tests are required.

Rapid and accurate laboratory diagnosis of rabies in humans and other animals is essential for timely administration of postexposure prophylaxis. Within a few hours, a diagnostic laboratory can determine whether or not an animal is rabid and inform the responsible medical personnel. The laboratory results may save a patient from unnecessary physical and psychological trauma, and financial burdens, if the animal is not rabid.

In addition, laboratory identification of positive rabies cases may aid in defining current epidemiologic patterns of disease and provide appropriate information for the development of rabies control programs.

The nature of rabies disease dictates that laboratory tests be standardized, rapid, sensitive, specific, economical, and reliable."

I just read this and omg, why didn't she get someone help her write this thing? just awful. I see her passive aggressively blaming Hailey, (subtle put-downs), associating Hailey's life with scissors, body organs, death, bury...wth? This is the best she could come up with? She listed a few things like athlete and sax player, so why didn't she talk about a band experience or relate the thrill of watching her daughter catch her first fly ball? Obviously, BJ didn't give a hoot about the things that made her daughter happy. Most of all though, I see this little speech as an opportunity for BJ to build herself up. She cooked, she cleaned, she studied to be a nurse. "See how respectable I am ya'll?" Another thing I noticed...she was sending out a clear-cut message to Clint. "This is OUR story, OUR love, OUR daughter, OUR bedroom...remember when I used to cook and clean in OUR house? Remember what I used to mean to you and you to me? Don't turn on me now Clint, my one true love, WE'RE still a team'. And sadly, it might just work. She's a manipulative little so & so and she'd know exactly what buttons to push.

BJ saying that Hailey was following in her footsteps is pure fantasy. She knew Hailey was a better person than she was and she couldn't stand it. And she proved it by making that statement! She should have said, 'Thank God, she wanted more than this'. It seems that BJ didn't like her own daughter and talks about her like a jealous woman would a rival. She always follows a compliment up with a back handed slam. And after all this time, I still detect a current of anger towards Hailey. Really though, since BJ didn't have maternal instincts for her daughter, I can see why she was jealous. Hailey was a natural beauty, that rare girl who is a mix of pretty and tomboy...the kind of girl, guys swarm to. On the other hand, BJ is a hag and looks like a skanky old rat. This is a woman so desperate for male attention, that she took off her clothes and danced for them. All Hailey had to do was smile.

BJ said she could go on and on, so why didn't she? People wanted to hear about Hailey, this is what a memorial service is for. She couldn't find the time to tell about an exciting softball game, but she did find the time to say that she wouldn't speculate, and she found the time to bring up Clint over and over. She didn't talk about Hailey's life, because she was jealous of her accomplishments. BJ reduced Hailey to a scissor toting, diseased lung toting, dead bat toting, I don't know what, but this is just wrong.

This reminds me of The Breakfast Club (1985) - Quotes -

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088847/quotes?qt=qt0475594

Brian Johnson: Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. What we did *was* wrong. But we think you're crazy to make an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us... In the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain...
Andrew Clark: ...and an athlete...
Allison Reynolds: ...and a basket case...
Claire Standish: ...a princess...
John Bender: ...and a criminal...
Brian Johnson: Does that answer your question?... Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club.
