Statement Analysis: Victoria Beckham

Does Victoria Beckham trust her husband?

Celebrities often provide us with excellent examples for learning Statement Analysis.

Trusting one's spouse is a fundamental emotion common to all humans, whether or not they are wealthy and famous, or little known.  Being "special" to one's spouse, is everyone's expectation and when that is broken, the damage can be acute.  Debasing one's own self to maintain a family, an image or an social or economic lifestyle can still be humiliating to the subject.  Often, we view celebrities as above such emotions, particularly since so much of what is said in public is orchestrated for the purpose of publicity, yet even when questions are asked, the words chosen do not come from a vacuum, but from the brain.

The following is a short sample of sensitivity indicators:

"I really do believe deep down that I have the most faithful husband I could hope for."
- Victoria Beckham

The shortest sentence is considered best.

"I have a faithful husband" would be a short way of saying this.  Each additional word shows weakness in the assertion.  This is similar to Ryan Braun's 'denial' statement of using drugs  to enhance his home run performance last year.

Note how many sensitivity indicators weaken her assertion:

1.  "really" qualifies
2.  "believe", which allows for herself or someone else to believe otherwise
3.  "deep down" is where this belief is.  This indicates other beliefs which may be on the surface, or not so deep down
4.  the most" is a comparison
5.  "I could hope for":  this qualifies what kind of husband she could "hope" for, and not the kind she actually has.

This is more of an admission than an assertion.

Peter,

Will you please analyze Oprah Winfrey's claim a shop girl in Switzerland refused to show her an expensive purse for racist reasons? The shop girl has given a statement now too.

Peter or someone,

If you can, would you please analyze Oprah's statement. It's available on youtube.

Racist Shop Clerk Tells Oprah Handbag is 'Too Expensive' for Her!!

Oprah's statement in interview on television.

I’m out by myself and I go into a store…shall remain unnamed and I say to the woman, uh excuse me, may I, may I see that that uh bag right above your head… and she says to me no, it’s too expensive. And I said, no no no, no see you see the black one the one that’s folded over the la and she said no no no , you don’t want to see that one. You want to see this one because that one costs too much you won’t be able to afford that. And I said, well no, I really did want to see that one. And she she refused to get it. She refused to get it. And she started to show me these other little bags and um, I said uh one more time, I tried, I said, but I really do just really want to see that one. And she said uh I don’t, I don’t want to hurt your feelings and I said okay, thank you so much, you’re probably right, I can’t afford it and I walked out of the store.

It would obviously be of interest to readers.

RE Oprah..

Personal'y i don't think it was about race.

In the past i have been to shops/stores etc,and looked at items i can afford. The shop assistant, when iv'e asked to look at something expensive has said:Do you realise how expensive this item is.Now i know, there and then im being profiled whether i can afford said item,be it mt attire,my accent and so on..I dont blame the assistant for asking me whether i can afford the item..Its common sense unfortunately, given theft and so on..

If Oprah did not look as if she could afford the Bag/Purse,and if the assistant did not recognise her,i dont see the problem. Now i know we should not judge a book by its cover, but hey, this is the way the world is..

Because your the highest paid, and most reccnised black female person in the world/westernised.You can NOT expect everyone to recognise you..

This has been blown out of all proportion. The poor shop assistant has had hate mail and threats to her life..It is NOT on..

Turn the tables..George Clooney or any White superstar actor/presenter etc got treated the same,Would there be such an outrage..I don'y think so..And all this on the back of the Zimmerman case..My opinion only..

Peter,
Thank you! I did this transcription myself and re-listened to make sure it is accurate. There may be 1 or 2 words off, but I think it's accurate. I posted the link to youtube where you can see & hear her talking.

She called the police and told them Billie was eating ice cream and you know what they did about it? NOTHING, that's what, except ask her to please not call them anymore. Lazy cops!!!!

I personally do feel that celebrities are ever faithful. Well, let me say this, I am sure there are a few out there that may stay that way. But only a few.

But the facts are, especially with men... they have women throwing themselves at them all the time.

I dont know too many men that finding themselves with an attractive woman all over them could just walk away.

I am sure not every woman could cause them to stray, but we all know there are many very attractive women and it just takes that one that does it for that man phsysically (be it body, hair color etc) to get them to lose control.

And that is why I would never wish to be married to anyone famous.

Even rich men.

They both find themselves in that role.

A CEO at a company I used to work for was probably the most unactractive man in the world.

He made garden knomes look good. He even has a georgous wife who at her age can be compaired to Bo Derek when she was older as she is still very attractive. He also has a daughter so even that has not altered his opinion on how he treats women.

This man was always sleeping with his female employees. ALWAYS. He didnt even hide it. Would be innapropraite at company parties even. Touching women in front of everyone. Making out with them. Seriously, no shame at all!

And the company attorney even one night after way too much to drink told us that he has to settle at least 10-20 sexual harrasment lawsuits out of court a year. Imagine the ones he didnt settle or those that didnt complain.

I think that says alot!

Victoria has many issues to worry about. Is she starving herself with amphetamines? She won't feel sexy with the inevitable Dowager's Hump.

"I really do believe deep down that I have the most faithful husband I could hope for."
~ Victoria Beckham

That's sad. Why does she not feel that she could never have a completely faithful husband?

Anonymous said...

Oprah met a sales clerk with a personality disorder and immediately assumed it must be a race issue. Do many people of color think "it's a race issue" every time they meet non-black people who are jerks?

"really do believe deep down that I have the most faithful"

Take these words from the sentence/statement.

We know that the shortest answer or reply is the best.

This quote is full of qualifiers. We dont need to be savy in S/A to see the insecurity..

Trial of woman accused of kidnapping, killing 12-year-old Houston boy begins Tuesday

HOUSTON -- The trial of a woman accused of kidnapping and killing a 12-year-old Houston boy on Christmas Eve in 2010 begins Tuesday.

Mona Yvette Nelson was charged with capital murder in the death of Jonathan Foster.

I don't think there are any statements to analyze. But thought Peter and some might appreciate knowing that finally there is a trial.

My personal guess is that Mona was interested in Sharon the woman Jonathan and his mother moved in with. She was jealous and threatened that they were there and maybe thought they were an interference in her developing more of a relationship with Sharon.

I don't even want to imagine what Mona did to Jonathan. I really hope this vile person Mona never gets out.

Peter I searched here for article on Jonathan and could not find one. So I made comment here.

Um, so it is racism if someone thinks someone (anyone) can't afford 34,000 dollars for a purse? Oh, I'm cryin you a river Oprah!!! My heart is heavy and my eyes are moist with tears thinking of this horrible treatment you endured! I'm sure the store clerk in Switzerland was a hideous racist carrying on the terrible oppression of racism in America Oprah! Make no mistake racism in America is alive and well, but Oprah's $34,000 purse experience in Switzerland was not an example of it. Try again Oprah!

Anonymous said...

Oh my God I can't stop crying about Oprah's experience. It must have been so painful. That's how it is still though sometimes in the deep South...I mean Switzerland. I despise Oprah.

Victoria Brckham...no, she does not trust her husband. Here is my advice to her: Eat! And then you will have energy to cheat on him, and then you can find someone who makes you smile!

Here is my advice to her: Eat!
You'd think her husband would take her out to dinner!

Sella35 said...

Okay, Victoria Beckham told us that she knows her husband cheats, but she is okay with it. I do not care...Let them both suffer.

Then we have Oprah, who is claiming the store clerk is racist, because she was not recognized...If I went in that store dressed, how she(The Great O) normally does....I would have been booted too.

Anonymous said...

You'd also think Beckham would keep the photographers and pesky nosey reporters away

Anonymous said...

I felt sorry for Victoria, she obviously hasn't enough money for clothes. She has to wear her peticoat out. Maybe she forgot to put her dress on. Drugs do make you forgetful.

Oprah who was Hillary's best bud threw her under the bus to endorse Obama. Now she is laying out the race card. I doubt race had anything to do with it, I have seen her once on the street shopping and she looked like she couldn't afford to buy a bag of chips.

veruca said...

Sounds very ....jealous in here.
Really? She's thin.. stfw ? Come on, she's a tad dense but who cares about her weight and dress...I think she looks great.

Anonymous said...

Victoria Beckham looks like the boxer"Chris ewbank".She is a thin ugly selfish insect who stage with her"husband"whos cheated on her with a fat Spanish Escort,a nanny AND a male transvestite in 2001.

CanadianGirl said...

Statement analysis? Really? At what point in the re-telling of the incident did Oprah say it was Racism.
She never mentioned race, the media did!

John, Oprah was not dressed like a riff-raff. It doesn't matter whether or not a store sales person thinks you can or can not afford an item. It is the sales persons responsibility and duty to show the item to the customer. Security is not an issue, the bags have security tags on them that can only be removed by a machine at the sales counter.

It's not a race issue, it's a cultural issue. In North American retail stores sales associates are trained to serve and assist ALL customers who walk through their doors.

Victoria Beckham is insecure. It doesn't mean that her husband has cheated on her, but her statement reveals insecurity. "I really do believe" "Deep down", "could hope for". She is not sure he is faithful, she is only hoping and has to dig deep down inside herself to believe so.

Anonymous said...

Oprah(Not)the store assistant is the racist. It parades around shops with its dirty aged face, looking for items it doesnt need"showing OFF"its dollars(earned by pulling stupid faces, while interviewing real "stars").This woman should be sued by the store assistant whos life its tried to ruin.

JerseyJane said...

Oprah just had to say, at the beginning, really it's too expensive? May I ask, how much does it cost? BUT Oprah chose to keep baiting the saleswoman.. Baiting with the gimme, gimme,....

What salesperson would show that purse to her!!.. Listen to that conversation, there was no interest in that purse...Oprah's conversation alone sounded like a kid begging to see it and paw it....a rich person can look and destroy just as well as anyone else....

And item that expensive would have 2 employees showing it to a customer... If the salesperson thought Oprah was a potential buyer( by her actions and conversation) for sure she would have properly showed it..

Life is hard for Oprah. Forget starving kids in Africa. Oprah was UNRECOGNIZED by a shop clerk who sells obscenely priced handbags. If that isn't injustice I don't know what is.
Oprah deserves billion dollar handbags for the amazing work she did interviewing people on her show and teaching everyone in America her religion and starting O Magazine that tells everyone her "Favorite Things" like little gadgets that normally cost $10 but that Oprah prefers ones that cost $500. Thank you Oprah. Noone has ever served the world the way you have. Noone has ever inspired the way you have. I mean--you interviewed people on your talk show and gave little soundbits of advice from your good friend Maya Angelou. Noone deserves more recognition than you. Shame on that store clerk!!!

@ veruca. Jealousy is a wasted emotion. Health wise she is too thin. Oh, i couldn't care less if hubby cheats. A lot more worrying things in life, missing kids, murders, homelesness, unemployment, the fact that a lot of Amercians seem to get away with murder. 3rd world poverty, world unrest, violence, people suffereing mental illness. I was being humorous re: peticoat etc. Trying to look at the lighter side of life. Maybe you should be less concerned with how people look and whats actually inside of them. Thank you.

Anonymous said...

She has to wear her peticoat out. Maybe she forgot to put her dress on.
Maybe there's somewhere else she'd rather be

Anonymous said...

Yes she is too thin. I had anorexia when I was younger and can recognize anorexia when I see it. I don't know why my comment was deleted?
Maybe I should have phrased things in a nicer way. Whether she trusts her husband is secondary to the fact that she is not eating enough calories to be healthy physically or emotionally.
Anorexia causes nearly constant hunger pains. One cannot work on self-esteem, trust issues, etc when one is essentially in sarvation mode.
She is a very pretty woman but her underweight frame is not attractive. Atractive equals healthy. I have always thought she looks anorexic and figured I would express that on this thread.
Also when a person has anorexia they feel extremely undeserving, so it naturally follows that one would not have confidence they deserve the spouse's loyalty (whether the spouse is loyal or not).
