Robbery at an ATM

Saturday night I walked over to the ATM near my job around 10 PM, after I got out of work. I work at a bar. I entered the building using my debit card since it was after business hours. As I was opening the door there was a man behind me, so I held the door open for him. Nothing really seemed off about him. He was tall, white, brown hair, but I couldn't tell much else because it was dark. I didn't think much of him entering after me. I was just there to quickly deposit some cash and check my balances. There's only one ATM in there, so I wanted to get my transactions done as fast as I could to not make the guy wait a long time. I had just put my card into the machine and entered my PIN when the guy came up next to me and started shouting. I don't remember exactly what he said, but it was along the lines of "Give me all your money right now." I was freaked out. I had no idea this man would be harmful, it came out of nowhere. I've never had anything like this happen to me before, but I knew I was supposed to give in, in case he was going to kill me or hurt me. I opened my wallet and took out all the cash I had and the money I was there to deposit. I think I had about 90 dollars in cash. I thought it would be enough, but when I handed it to him, he yelled "The money in your accounts, too and your phone!" He was standing right next to me so I couldn't act like I didn't have much in there. I withdrew 500 dollars. I told him I couldn't get any more because the bank limits me. I was terrified that he'd not be okay with that and take it out on me. He seemed really jittery, shaking and everything. I gave him the cash from the ATM and my cell phone, and he just ran off really fast. I waited until he was out of my view. Then I ran back to my job and called 911.

Here is the same statement, with analysis added, so that you might review your work.  Recall that the color coding used by SCAN (www.lsiscan.com) uses blue as the highest level of sensitivity.  We use it for the departing of a place ("left") and the reason "why" something has taken place. The reason why shows that the subject is actually anticipating a question of "Why did you..?" in his statement, making "so, since, therefore, to, because, etc" very sensitive to him.  It may indicate a need to explain.

Of course, if you copy/paste and print, circle all your pronouns, and note the articles.

Also note any change in language.  A change in language can signal a change in reality.  Put any name in a box and draw a line connecting the same noun that has experienced a change, and seek to learn what it is that has happened in between (in context) to cause the change.

Note, in an open statement, anything in the 'negative'; that is, what did not happen, was not said, and so on.

Emotions:  note the location of emotions.  If they are in the perfect, or logical part of the story, it may be that they have been placed there artificially.

"I thought it would be enough,"

This statement really stands out. Why would the person being robbed think that the robber would be satisfied with only a little, when they could get a lot?

This statement is unexpected. When you are being robbed, do you hold back? Maybe if the robber is a person you know!

Sorry, did not follow directions!

Please do analysis on the Parsons. Is there a reason why you have not posted anything in the case?

Casey Parsons: "This is so crazy" that cadaver dogs alerted possible human remains in Parsons case
By Brigida Mack

Updated: 12/25/2013 2:54 am PST

The adoptive mother of missing teen Erica Parsons is reacting to news that a cadaver dog alerted to the possible presence of human remains while searching for clues in the case of missing Rowan County teen.

In an email to WBTV, Casey Parsons said "This is so crazy. This is why no one has found Erica, because no one is searching for an "alive" Erica."

Erica Parsons is the teenager who was first reported missing in late July by her adoptive brother, although her adoptive family hadn't seen her since 20-11.

Her adoptive parents insist she went to live with her biological grandmother, although investigators say that woman does not exist.

The cadaver dogs made the discovery in October and November at a property owned by Erica's adoptive grandfather.

Erica's birth mother Carolyn Parsons reacted to the news by telephone.

"All they had to do was give my little girl back to me January the 5th, 2011 like the original plan that we discussed," she said.

The warrant was served November 14 but was turned in to court late Monday afternoon.

Casey and Sandy Parsons stored items inside a shed on that property. Investigators seized those items - including human teeth - in October.

In the affidavit supporting the search warrant, an investigator stated probable cause for searching the shed.

He wrote "during the course of the investigation no credible leads as to the location of Erica Parsons has been discovered. The case received national attention in the media and with this attention no credible information has been received indicating Erica Parsons is living elsewhere."

Detectives say "the investigation began to explore the possibilities that Erica Parsons may be deceased and her remains concealed at a yet unknown location."

Search warrants in the case show evidence to be seized included "knives, edge weapons, sticks, blunt force objects, other tools or weapons; tape, rope, or other restraint and binding material."

Investigators seized a board and a jacket.

They say a K-9 trained to detect human remains "alerted on the red building twice, which indicates the presence of human remains."

In her email to WBTV, Casey Parsons wrote, "The search on that property was awhile ago. Don't you think if they had found something I wouldn't be sitting here answering emails."

For the last five months investigators have been searching for evidence in the teen's disappearance.

According to the attorney representing Casey and Sandy Parsons, federal agents wanted to question Casey Parsons on December 13th when she was in hospital.

Attorney Carlyle Sherrill said Casey Parsons was about to have surgery when two agents arrived.

"And when the FBI showed up, the doctor sort of changed plans and did examine her but canceled the procedure and by the time Casey was released, the FBI agents were gone" said Attorney Sherrill

Attorney Sherrill said the Parsons still don't know what specifically the agents wanted to discuss.

I don't think there is much more to add to this article other than arrest them both.

Hi Peter, I haven't posted in a while, although I have been reading most everything you write and appreciating it very much. I hope your holidays with family were joyful.

One of the things I look for in statements is "story-telling language" It seems to appear as extra and unnecessary words that add drama to a narrative, and I think they are likely used to persuade.

"As I was", "Just then", "I don't remember exactly", "supposed to", "along the lines of" and "couldn't act like" are all example within this statement that are story-telling embellishments.

Combined with her extensive use of explaining words like "so", "since", "because", which appear in almost every sentence, there is to me a very clear attempt to tell a story, rather than relate the facts of an event.

I would guess this was written by a woman as there is no mention of a weapon shown or implied by the thief and a man would be less likely to respond to a demand such as this without at least having the impression a weapon was a part of the threat. She shows no resistance whatsoever, which seems odd to me for someone who claims to work in a bar.

In her narrative she has time to "think" that her $90 should be enough, she is "freaked out" when the demand is made. She relates not one word of resistance to the theft. And finally she is "terrified" that the $500 would not be enough - as you mentioned, emotions at exactly the right point in the story instead of afterwards.

She mentions the man "standing" next to her, which seems oddly unthreatening, and that she "gave him" the money instead of that he "took" the money. "He just ran off really fast." instead of "He bolted from the bank with my money" or such like. The word "just" used here is so mild and surrendering. This all gives a very passive tone to the situation she relates.

I don't have any idea what really happened, but I don't think this narrative is true.

Equinox,

Its nice to hear from you, and enjoyable to read your analysis. You have an intuitiveness to analysis which is impressive.

Note that the emotions are artificially placed in the "perfect" or "logical" place. This is the 'story telling' that you feel!

best,

Peter

Anonymous asking about the Parsons.

You ask if there is a reason I have not posted anything on the case...

I'm not up on the case. I appreciate you posting the info and will take a look. It is time consuming to do analysis, so I count on others to get the statements and/or links for me.

Hence, the point of you coming to a conclusion!

Is he deceptive or not?

The answer is in the statement itself. What thinkest thou??

why do so many now days seem to be able to get away with murder?

Peter keep doing what you do. Hopefully those in LE will catch up.

But I am losing faith. I cant tell a white lie with out it coming back to haunt me. Yet these monsters lie about abuse and murder and get by......

Why?

Why is is that Peter and us folowers see it but LE cant?

This is a sad state.....

Peter...I will say this...your site is one I visit daily.

it gives me hope that some do see past the bull shit.

That I am not alone that tere is more than just what a speaker wants us to hear. I have never bought the "salesman bullshit" but for years felt alone in that till I stumbled across your blog.

And you, Hobs and some of the regulars that see SA as reality have allowed me to feel like im not alone in this and see reality.

So thank you all. It gives me hope in humanity.

And LE please wake up!

The Parsens said they they sent their child off to live with a stranger (depite their sons statements they killed her) and can not account for her at all.

Casey Anthony can go out and party while she claims her babysitter ran off with her child.

Justin DiPietro can claim his child was kidnapped right after he took out a life insurance policy... excessive blood is found in his home, he waited to report her missing...

the McCanns can leave babies alone a 1.5 min walk away and claim one child was abducted (while the others didnt wake or move) during the following chaos and mom and dad laugh at balloons a fewdays later

Child porn and beastility found in a couples bedrooms of the mom and boyfriend who just claimed a child didn't return after a sleep over that was never planned.. followed by a boyfriend lying about being at a job that he left promptly aft we clocking in and had cell phone pings close to where the body was.

all just poor luck? Nope. I dont buy that.

WTF LE? Are u this blind? Do u not see the obvious???

I think these parents know who murdered their child and niece. Its been 2 years, and they are not interested in locating the killer. They have left it up to God.
