that's such a heartbreaking story :(

Damien sounds like he was a great kid

I hope the officers of the Warren city police department who delayed and mishandled the investigation of Damien's case, and the "friends" who would not share the information they knew (no matter WHAT their or their parents' excuses were!) are JUST as haunted by their inaction as those ultimately responsible for his disappearance!!

Disgraceful.

Present tense language concerning her son Damien creeps into her speech at 4:15 "He's not the type of kid to just leave, go out of town without telling his mother and his father. 22 years old he's still telling us where he's going, how long he's gonna be, when he's gonna be back.

When he gets back, he's calling us. 'We're back.'"

Details of Disappearance
Damien had friends at his apartment for Memorial Day Weekend. He left on crutches saying he would be back in a bit. He was driven to a home in Warren and dropped off. No one ever saw him again. Two days passed before one of his friends called Damien’s mom to say something wasn’t right.

Is the intermittent use of present tense language due to a lack of closure for a mom traumatized by her loss? It's clear she's aware he will be found deceased.

IMHO this warrants watching twice, the last 40 seconds are very important and change everything. Mom knows/ believes more than she says. A second watch yields a different perspective although I believe the intuitive viewer will see some of it during the first viewing.

They may have lacked the resources.

It added the search has included specialist ground and air teams and used up "significant resources." According to a report by NBC station WLBT, the FBI is also getting out information to its offices in Tennessee, Alabama and Louisiana.http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/fbi-offers-20-000-reward-hunt-missing-myra-lewis-n49601

The TBI said the Holly Bobo investigation has historically been one of the most exhaustive in terms of time, resources and cost.http://www.newschannel5.com/story/24892554/zachary-adams-charged-with-kidnapping-murder-of-holly-bobo

Awful. Talk about being inside a black box. Is there no recourse for Damian's family? What the presiding LE did to them was deplorable!

Why couldn't the inmate who wrote the letter tell her everything? Instead he taunts her saying he "knows the whole story"? What has he got to lose unless he is also guilty? He could have just as easily written an anonymous letter to her so that she could have closure.

The cruelty, from every direction/office, is astonishing.

I will be saying a prayer for Damian's mom tonight.

Myra Lewis' Grandmother told us she believes Myra was abducted.

Antoinette Lewis told our reporter, "Whoever got her, just send her back home. I love her."

Lewis says she lives next door to Myra's parents, and that her granddaughter would often walk next door to visit, despite only being 2 years old.

"Myra was a good child. She was very obedient. She was smart. She's 2 but she has the mind of a 3 or 4 year old."

For now, Ericka Lewis is being held behind bars and without bond.

Steven Powell released from prison after serving 2 years for voyeurism amid claims he has information about his missing daughter-in-law

Steven Powell, the father-in-law of missing Utah woman Susan Powell, has been released from prison after serving more than two years for voyeurism charges.

Powell, 63, left the Tacoma, Washington prison on Sunday after serving 30 months for taking photographs of two girls, aged 8 and 10, from his house while they were in their bathroom in a neighboring home.

His release comes amid claims that he has information about his missing daughter-in-law, who vanished in 2009 and whom relatives believe was killed by her husband, Josh Powell.

But Josh Powell never faced charges in the case and in 2012, he tried to murder his sons, Charles, 7, and Braden, 5, with a hatchet before setting alight to the home, killing them and himself.

Steven Powell's estranged daughter, Jennifer Graves, said she believes her father has information about Susan's disappearance. She told KSL she was not happy about his release.

'I knew it was coming and that it was going to be today,' Graves said.

'It had to come, so I’m not particularly pleased about it, but it had to come,' Graves said. 'He shows no remorse, no intention of changing his ways and improving himself.

She added: 'I don’t really want him back in my life at this point because I think he was responsible, or at least knows about Susan’s disappearance.'

Powell will be on probation for 30 months, required to wear a GPS locator and attend a sex-offender treatment program, KSL reported. He plans to live in Tacoma, according to the corrections facility.

Deseret News reported that the two girls victimized by Powell were awarded a $1.8million settlement as part of a civil suit.

After that December ruling, the judge ordered the Pierce County Sheriff's Office to sell off the home since it is Powell's largest non-exempt asset - a ruling he has been fighting.

Steven Powell's exploits gained national attention after his son Josh killed his own two sons in 2012. Until then, Josh Powell had been the focus of the investigation into his missing wife, Susan.

Susan Powell disappeared from her home in December 2009 and her body has never been found.

He had a sexual obsession with Susan Powell that was thoroughly documented in journals seized by police.

In passages from 17 spiral notebooks written over more than ten years, he wrote of his sexual fantasies about Susan, how he believed she loved him too and hopes they would be together.

He wrote: 'She is an amazing woman. I hope I am right, that she is in love with me, but of course there is the problem of her being married to my son. The fact is, I can hardly control myself when it comes to her.'

He admitted 'looking at her naked body under the bathroom door (using a mirror)' though recognized this was a 'sick' thing to do.

But there is no hint that he or his son Josh had anything to do with her disappearance and he made mention of the possibility she ran off with another man - which is what Josh Powell told police.

Following her disappearance, authorities found blood in the family home and a hand-written note in which Susan Powell expressed fear about her husband hurting her

The words of Myra Lewis' grandmother,"Lewis says she lives next door to Myra's parents, and that her granddaughter would often walk next door to visit, despite only being 2 years old.

"Myra was a good child. She was very obedient. She was smart. She's 2 but she has the mind of a 3 or 4 year old."
Children of neglect are often praised for being ahead of "normal" children their same age. This happened with Caylee who supposedly could get her own breakfast etc. What 2 year old walks independently to visit next door? For that matter a 3 year old? Maybe a poorly supervised 4 year old. The houses in her neighborhood were further apart from what I could see too. I don't know...

RE: Damien Sharp, his mom has pushed so hard to find out what happened to her son. I agree Critical Thinker, the friends who would not tell what they knew were not much of friends. Their parents probably called lawyers before they went to talk because that whole "we don't have to let you talk to our minor child" is something an LE friend has shared is a pet peeve of his (when all they are trying to do is help someone else out). UNLESS something of a conspiratorial nature occurred and that makes sense from their POV.

Yes, even after all these years and knowing her son is dead, his mom still uses present tense! It amazes me to hear parents of missing kids (Isabel Celis, Hailey Dunn, etc ad nauseum) use past tense in the early days of their child's going missing. It says a lot.

Those are direct quotes? Myra WAS a good child? Myra WAS smart? Myra WAS obedient? Three references to Myra all in the past tense... that poor little baby :( grandma knows Myra is gone.

And does 'she has the mind of a 3 or 4 year old' mean that Myra's mind is still working?

I pray that Damien's mother will find her son so he can be buried. Let us all help spread the word.

Direct quote from Myra's Grandmother, who it seems while believing Myra has been abducted also refers to Myra in the past tense, repeatedly! Good catch Elf! Sad for Myra though, the implication is not good.

I watched the video and here is my transcript of the Grandmother. There is more than what was reported in the article and what was in the article was innacurate for SA purposes.

First talking about the weapons and the charge against Myra's Mother.
" She don't carry a gun. She scared of gun. She don't be around gun."
Later in the video the reporter says Myra's Father claims the guns in question are his hunting rifles.

Re Myra:"Whoever got her, send her back. Don't have no bruises, knots or (?) brains or nothing and uh, I love her."

She suspects, based on family pet behavior, that Myra was abducted from the end of her driveway "She'd come from her daddy house and walk from her daddy home to her granddaddy house and knock on the door. But we wasn't home that day! Myra is a, was a good child. She was very obedient. She was smart. She's 2 but she got a mind of a 4,3 or 4 year old."

I hardly know what to say about the statement about the bruises, knots, or ?brains. Her accent was a little difficult to get at that point and there may be some expressions I'm not familiar with? I got the impression she was saying it didn't matter if Myra was a bit banged up, just bring her back, but if I let the subject be dead and the statement live it leaks a lot of ...brains. There is so much more here, but I have to go so have at it:)

Red Ryder, I too heard "brains", the closed captioning is available to be turned on through a toggle at the bottom, and is interesting. Partly because there's more of Myra's grandmother's speech after "she don't be around gun", which is only visible in the closed captioning. In the video as-aired it is sucked out and replaced aurally by the news anchor. The closed captioner did not attempt to deal with "or brains" at all and just skipped over it like grandma never spoke, but I suppose it's possible she said [no] "braids" and not "brains". I realize "I don't care if she doesn't have hair" is a bit of a stretch, and braids or brains it's the skull area which is also a consistent thought process with "knots" (a knot on the head after being coshed), so maybe it doesn't matter and is all negative. :(

The lack of closure is unbearable, incessant torture and the present tense language is expected.

The family is a remarkable, unique and strong unit working for their loved one, as well as supporting others.

Regarding the OT post by Hobs about the Powell family:

The journalist that write these articles are just not paying attention to anything it seems these days.

This comment……..

SO NOT TRUE. Not only was there a hint, there was pretty clear information that Josh did have something to do with it. So much so, his kids ever stated it. This was another comment from another article…………………….

This makes me angry. Just like when the article says “dad denies involvement” or “parents beg for the childs return” when they did no such thing.

Journalist really need to have better training and write the truth and not put words into peoples mouths.

It’s frustrating and it part of why Gerry and Kate McCann still have people that think they are innocent victims and that Madeleine McCann was abducted.

Posted in prior post about Myra Lewis……..

“Lewis says she lives next door to Myra's parents, and that her granddaughter would often walk next door to visit, despite only being 2 years old.

*********************************************************************************************************

I do not like this at all. Obedient especially to me almost makes me wonder if there was abuse/fear. 2 year olds are at the stage where they still see the world in terms of them. They are 2. This is normal. To be “obedient” seems harsh to me.

My son has always been a wise child if you can call it that. Still at the age of 2, my son did not leave my home alone. And while he was not an out of control kid that threw tantrums, he was a good baby, I would not use the word “obedient”. Something about that to me is a red flag. At 2 I described my son as a good baby, happy, silly, curious about everything.. Obedient was never something I would have used.

And I saw the street of that home on google maps. Does anyone know if the grandmother lives on the same property as the parents and is just in another home like a trailer or something? If not, walking next door is a huge stretch for that small of a kid since he homes are really far apart.

So, that statement proves a level of neglect. No 2 year old should be walking next door alone. Even if she had the mind of a 4 year old, I didn’t leave my son alone at 4 either. Hes 6 and I still would never leave him alone. I won’t let him walk outside alone. Even if he goes to his friends a few house down, I walk with him. If he plays with the neighbor kids outside, either I am sitting out side with them or the other parents do. We take turns. The kids do not play alone.

It takes seconds for someone to grab a kid. Look at the case with the little girl that was kidnapped right off the street by the school coach. There were even people around, just not with her.

I have been bothered by the families lack of panic and fear from day one and the few times they have spoken only added to my fears that they were responsible for her demise.

And for those that keep wanting to denfind why they don’t speak out…. There are a million excuse we have heard…….

But it is not about you when your child is missing.

I don’t care if you are shy, don’t like being on camera…. It’s not about you when your child is missing….. that fear will take over everything else and make you move, make you talk.

When you are a loving innocent parent its just what you do. Your fear or shyness no longer matters. Your child does.

Yes, it is true. Thank you for understanding.

As to present tense language:

This is indicative of the pain that the family suffers.

We find present tense language, not only in denial of death, but in PTSD, where the pain is so bad, but still so present, that the language shows the ongoing suffering.

Look up Christopher Chimenti Warren PA. He killed his wife then himself in 2009. He's related to investligator in the Sharp case. Did Chris and wife Amy know Damien ? Interesting. Was Amy ready to spill the beans ?
