Russel Lindstrom: Daughter Dies in Car

We continue to cover this case.  See prior analysis here.  We saw issues with priority and order, the artificial placement of emotions, and conflicting statement about knowledge of his daughter's death.   We also saw a reference to laundry.

"Laundry" as in "washing", "water" (etc) can sometimes enter the language of sexual abuse.  Putting the two girls to sleep to do laundry is not, however, in a direct quote.

We note in the article drug paraphernalia.

A search warrant, obtained by KLTV Friday, revealed the items police removed from the home and vehicle where a 4-year-old toddler died earlier this week. Bella-Rose and her younger sister Zoey were found Wednesday locked in their family's truck. Bella-Rose did not survive. Their father, Russel Lindstrom, was watching the girls when the tragedy happened.

They're treating me like I murdered my little girl,” said Lindstrom.

"I murdered my little girl":  is the subject quoting someone else, or does this come from his own free editing process?  Is it an embedded confession, or is he quoting police?

Smith County investigators collected a number of items from Lindstrom's home Wednesday. The search warrant shows that authorities seized, among other things, a green, leafy substance in a plastic bag, drug paraphernalia, a bottle of Percocet, miscellaneous medicine, three laptop computers and two tablet computers.

Lindstrom, who served two tours in Iraq, says the medicine was prescribed to him for his post traumatic stress disorder.

I've been in terrible situations all my life, especially in the military and nothing like that can compare to losing your daughter, to losing one of your own children, especially at an age so young,” he said.

Note that he avoids the personal, "losing my daughter" and "losing one of my own children", instead opting for the second person, "you", which is distancing language.

The warrant called for the search of any property, including vehicles, belonging to or controlled by Russel Lindstrom, his fiancé Michelle Moist, and his fiancé’s brother Jeremiah Moist.

Investigators say right now, Lindstrom hasn't been charged with anything, but they're looking at the possibility of criminal negligence.

“I don't know what they are doing, but with the way they were treating me, all I can assume is the worst and hope for the best,” said Lindstrom.

The investigation in the case is still ongoing. The Smith County sheriff says Bella Rose's death is likely heat-related, but there won’t be any official confirmation until her autopsy is complete.

Peter, RL says in the vt below.

"They started playing in their room quietly and they both wrapped up in their BLANKETS and layed down. I thought the went to sleep so i figured i had time to go do some chores in the house, i was in the back of the house doing LAUNDRY and STRAIGHTENING THINGS UP"

Not only does "laundry" enters his language, in the Free Editing Process (FEP), but we know have coverings (Blankets) entering his language too.

Thanks, John.

Also note that coverings (blankets) enter the language of Vets with PTSD.

"straightening things up..."

I would like to learn what this means, and the affidavit might just help.

Inconsistent statements from the father. Did he put the girls down for a nap (previous article) or did the girls lay down with blankets themselves?
My guess based on what dad has said with what was found in the initial search (marijuana, pills) : the girls were playing, dad was sitting around getting high and lost track of time either watching TV or playing a video game, not doing housework or laundry (probably what his fiance wanted him to do because she cleaned out the truck). Id also like to point out that laundry doesn't take much time all at once to do, five minutes to put a load in or change loads, probably 15 to fold and put away, an hour in.between loads. Anyways the kids were playing quietly when he checked on them, he was stoned doing his thing, the girls went out to play, the car was unlocked and the girls got in to play 'driving' or just explore the car (when I was in the first grade I got into my moms car and burned my finger on the car lighter. She had told me to stay out and don't touch the lighter but in my defense the lighter didn't look like it would hurt anything). Dad realizes he hasn't heard the kids and starts looking. Finds them in the car unconscious from the heat. By pointing out his fiance is the one who left the truck unlocked he's placing the blame on her. His distancing language is probably a lifelong habit of denying responsibility. He points the blame on his fiance because he feels guilty that he was getting high while his kids were in mortal danger. He didn't murder his daughter on purpose but he was neglectful.

The home address is below. Google maps does not take you right there but if you drag it down to the street view, he has the stone house. That was in the photo shows with him out front online so you can see it. But looks really rural and more spread out. So it’s very possible the car was not close to the home to hear anything. I know someone was asking about the layout of the house and the yard. You can see it here.

But I still would think the girls would have started to scream as it started to get really uncomfortable. So I would want to know where the car was parked at the time.

Then, the house itself if 1700 sq feet. I find it hard to imagine 2 kids getting up from a “nap” and getting out of the house with out a sound.
The home sits on almost 3 acres. So while I can see no noise maybe from the car depending on where it was parked, them getting out of the house with out noise I don’t buy.
I think the laundry is the excuse he may use to say why he didn’t hear them get out of the home.

Also still stand by the fact that a 4 year old can open a door. If she can open it to get in, she can open it to get out.

I just do get how they got trapped inside. I think a 4 yr old would just open the door and get out.

I'm leaning more towards murder.

Peter, I found a long video. Transcribed below. This reporter lets him talk and asks very few questions. Interesting to me that he has a dead child and another in the hospital and hes standing here talking about this for so long. But see below.

Video starts with Russell talking. Not sure what the first question the reporter asked.

RUSSELL “I’m 33 years old. Im a 2 time combat vet. I was medically retired outta the army as a srgt E5 after I got blown up on my last deployment…

**I stopped transcribing the talk about his job...Continued when he started about the day.

Yesterday started out pretty much like any other day. There was a little bit of excitement because the vehicle that my daughter died in, we were supposed to be trading in for another vehicle yesterday. A 2008 Chevy Avalanche. And my kids were really excited cause they (hard to understand this part) were gonna get to go and leave the house. Or as they would put it, they were gonna get to go “bye bye”. And… but they got up in the morning and then ate breakfast and came outside and played because a couple of days ago it rained and they’ve been cooped up in the house and there real outdoors kids. And so, they came outside and I was outside with them. They were running around the yard playing Dora the Explorer and even tried to run off in the woods a couple times like she does on the cartoon. Yah know I had to yell at them to stay in the yard a couple of times because of it. And (long pause) lunch time came around, they came in the house, I fed them something to eat and then we came back outside after they were done eating. Maybe an hour later err later. I can’t be yah know, accurate on times. What happened was my kids generally put themselves down for a nap especially when they’ve been outside playing a lot and ah especially on a warm day. And they came into the house and started playing in their room quietly and then they both wrapped up in their blankets and laid down. And I thought they went to sleep so I figured I had time to do go do some chores in the house. I was in the back of the house doing laundry and straightening things up. And in between load of laundry I’d go sit on my bed which is in the next room over from them and cause from my room I can always hear them when they get up and start moving around. And so I thought they were asleep and I thought I had time to do some chores and didn’t have to worry about them. And I came outside to have a cigarette and fiancés little brother came out and asked me when the last time id actually seem my kids was and I told him it was about an hour and both of us immediately got up and started looking for em just because anytime you’re a parent and somebody brings up the fact that you haven’t seen or heard from your kids for a little while, you go look for them. And so we checked the house, they weren’t in their room, they weren’t anywhere in the house. We checked all the rooms in the house. All the places they like to hide and get into things.

There is a change in language from truck to vehicle. What i heard next got my attention.

He is explaining what he said to the 911 operator.

@ 5:02 he says.

"All i was able to was give them my address and tell them, that you know, i found my kids in the tr--you know the vehicle unresponsive."

i found my kids in the tr--you know the vehicle unresponsive."

Notice the self editing. Now, if is he going to say Truck, why does he self edit. He has already used the word "Truck" in his statement, so why does he check himself.

Now here is my thinking of what he was about to say.

i found my kids in the TRUNK you know the vehicle unresponsive."

This to me makes more sense. We have all been wondering why didn't his kids just open the door and let themselves out. So, maybe they climbed into the trunk and shut it down on themselves. This then would be very difficult for them to free themselves, and suffocated. was there any signs of vomit in the truck?.I'm sure LE have checked (hopefully)if not, have they checked the trunk.

When you look at the vt, watch his reaction when he self edits.

And we couldn’t find em so my first thought was because they tried to go in the woods behind the house playing earlier so that’s what they might have done. And theres a trail that runs out behind the house that we’d taken them on a few times. And so he took off down one direction of the trail and I took off down the other direction screaming and yelling for them and we couldn’t find them. I made it back up to the yard pretty quickly and I saw the truck and I immediately thought yah know the worst, I had a bad feeling so I ran over to the truck and I saw my kids laying apparently unconscious in the back of the truck and I tried to open the doors and they were locked so I had to run into the house, grab the car keys. Come out unlock the doors. I grabbed my eldest first cause she was laying on the back seat with her eyes open in a puddle of vomit and so I grabbed her, she was burning hot and I ran her over next to the pool right here trying you know to cool her off a little bit without throwing her into shock and then I ran back over to the vehicle and I grabbed my youngest girl and she kinda moaned and fought against me as I was trying to pull her out of the vehicle. So I brung her up here to the porch and layed her on the cool concrete in the shade and then came over and I checked ah my oldest daughters ah responses see if she was in shock or breathing or had a pulse and I couldn’t find anything. Her eyes were wide open, her pupils wouldn’t dilate ah her capilary(?) response was negative and like I said, I couldn’t find a pulse, heart beat or breathing.

REPORTER ”So you called 911”

RUSSELL “I called 911. My phone got wet and died or overheated and died during the 911 call so all I was able to do was give them my address and them that you know I’d found my kids in the Tr.. (he started to say truck and change to vehicle) vehicle unresponsive and I started doing rescue breathing on my daughter trying to you know, keep her alive. Or at least give her a chance to come back.

Talks about being a vet for a minute….

Then continues about his kids… It’s a little hard to understand him as he is starting to cry and his voice muffled.

“When I looked at my daughter, I knew. In my mind I knew. But my heart and soul made me hope that they can revive her. I was just trying to keep her going. Keep oxygen in her tell she could get help.

Normally we would have had the vehicle locked because it wasn’t the first time they ever tried to get into the vehicles and play, especially if they thought we were going somewhere. Because they would always get excited when they thought they were gonna get to go somewhere. And so normally we kept the vehicles locked because if it, cause a while back they’d done the same thing but it was late fall early winter. They definitely took after me and their mother cause they were very outdoorsy. They liked to climb trees, they liked to go explore things. Especially places they knew they werent supposed to be. Theres nothing worse than losing your young child.

REPORTER: Have you had a chance to talk to your fiance”

I got to see her a little bit at the hospital and a little bit last night around midnight when she came to get some of my… some of my youngest daughters stuff.

REPORTER: I imagine she’s as devastated as well?

RUSSELL: Yeah (he does shake his head no here). We didn’t really talk much. I told her that I was under investigation and probably gonna be charged with anything from neglect to involuntary manslaughter. And so there’s a good change that I’m going to jail and won’t be able to see my daughter for a long time.

My thoughts on the long video:

Why does she start with his age and his job. The reporter may have asked.

Says “Yesterday started out pretty much like any other day. “ I Know peter usually talks about this comment. Can’t recall what he says.

Then, who says “when was the last time you ACTUALLY saw the kids”. This is alarming to me and I believe there was way more said. I don’t think he just walked in and said that. Especially since this was not even the parent. It would be more normal to just ask “where are the kids”. And then the fact that he jumped into action vs just saying “they are napping”. If you think they are napping, you are not in panic mode like this.

Also again he distances himself. “anytime you are a parent” vs “as a parent”.

Then, “all the places they like to hide”. Not sure if that’s just innocent or possibly concerning that they hide often. I have only one kid but babysat for years. While kids play hide and seek, I don’t recall those kids ever having places they “like to hide”. Maybe that’s innocent. Just not anything I have experienced or would ever say.

He then says “I made it back up to the yard pretty quickly”. I don’t know why but this is odd to me. Anyone else have thoughts?

Then says “I saw the truck and I immediately thought yah know the worst, I had a bad feeling”. Why did you think the worst immediately? You don’t know if they are in it or even if it’s just been minutes.

Then “I saw my kids laying apparently unconscious”. Again, odd choice of words. Apparently?

“…grab the car keys. Come out unlock the doors… Interesting, he uses the pronoun I constantly yet does not do that here.

Truck changes to vehicle. It seems that finding his kids unconscious in the back would cause a change in language? Accurate?

Then he does not say their names. Just oldest and youngest.

His oldest daughters eyes were open but she was not alive. Does anyone know…….. I would think the heat would eventually make you pass out before you died and your eyes would close? So then her eyes being open would be concerning. But I don’t know.

“I’d found my kids in the Tr.. (he started to say truck and change to vehicle) vehicle unresponsive. Odd that he would start to say truck then change it to vehicle. Peter – what do you make of this?

Thanks for the transcript trustmeigetit,

SO many things jump out as red flags, but the fact that his fiancee's brother asked 'when was the last time he actually laid eyes on his kids' is a definite indication that there ia more to this story.

I can't imagine a situation where that question would be appropriate, other than finding someone who I know is SUPPOSED to be watching young children asleep, unconscious, or otherwise engaged in an activity where he os obviously NOT watching the kids

Anonymous said...

OK - I thiink he did it on purpose.not even sure it was the heat that killed her. I think "I had to yell at her a couple times" was when he did it,and it was a voilence kind of abuse- death. I don't think he fed them lunch that day or he would have said what he fed them. I think that long pause is when he came up with his plan to put the girls in the truck and claim accident. I notice wheh he describes the girls getting settled for a nap he does not say that they did it then, only that they often do that.

PTSD can make you crave recreating your trauma. you have a deep need to face it again and react differently to it, to come to terms with it instead of feel destroyed by it. but meanwhile -- you can do a LOT of damage recreating thise circumstances.

I say he did it out of psychological issues, I say he stuck them in that car intentionally. in a base way I bet he was jealous of them being more mentally stable than him. war messed him up. & he commited murder and attenpted murder.

John Mc Gowan said...

Thanks for the transcript trustmeigetit,

I have just noticed in your transcript the word "Car"

So we have Truck, Vehicle and now Car.

trustmeigetit said...

Its been a while since we had a lot of statements from the accused with out the reporter dominating the interview.

I think there is a lot here to work with.

I am curious about Peters views on the truck to vehicle. Since to me, it makes sense that its just a truck in the yard. But after his children are found dead in it, it changes to vehicle.

But what I did notice as I was going back again reviewing it (Like Peter says you find more over time) he started with it as a vehicle when he first mentions it. BUT, then he does immediately connect it to the death so it seems at least with this the change in language is justified.

Hoping Peter will do a post on this with the full transcript. I am really curious.

I have heard that those with PTSD from war can become very violent. Even those that were not before. That is always scary.

Then he does not say their names. Just oldest and youngest.

And what I find also interesting is that he says he didn’t really get a chance to talk to the mom. I kinda get it, with one child still in the hospital. But I personally can imagine she is blaming him.

But the fact hes not at the hospital with her and the other child is odd to me. I would not leave my kid. Seems like he is just hanging out at the house. I wonder if she told him to leave.

Will be interesting to see if we get any statements from the mom.

Also, he seems to be crying but no tears that I could see. Again, after what hes been through, I have heard it changes you.

John - I caught the vehicle to truck and felt that change in language was justified but had missed the car. Now I'm sure there's an issue.

Jen OW– I had a comment about the brothers question.

I think there was a lot of conversation that occurred before he said “actually saw them”.

They had to have looked for the girls I think before this point. To me, he would not just ask that. So I wonder if he came over and asked where they were, he maybe said they were sleeping and brother noticed they were not in their rooms.

Even if he is not good about taking care of them, to just start with that comment does not make sense.

I think he left out a big part of the story that lead to that comment. And the fact he left that out is where I think we have the real story of what happened.

I really hope Peter does the analysis on this one.

trustmeigetit said...

Will also be interesting to see if there's a statement from the brother in law. Does that match his story of what happened.

Also the more I look at the comment about the 911 call being cut short because the phone got hot or wet... The more that too worries me.

Not just that he bothered to even tell us he got disconnected but WHY. Did he need more time for some reason?

Mark Mcclish also has a theory that often when a phone is mentioned during telling what happened it connects the person to the crime. I'll have to read his exact comment again.

Unknown said...

Agreed! A person doesn't just bust out with a question like that.

It actually sounds like something that would be said after a period of fruitless searching...the person asking, possibly trying to get a gauge on just how far/long they could have gone?

He uses the word 'and' to start many of his statements, which Peter says usually indicates missing information.

Hi, SA teaches us that we all have an "Internal Subjective Dictionary" and that there are no synonyms unless the is justification for the change in language. Surelyy though could you get mixed up between a "truck" and a "car".?

Does he have other vehicles, and when he said he went in to get his cars keys, does he have a car, and his truck keys were on the same key ring?

Something is up. I am concluding deception.

When he describes his daughter Bella, the one who died, he includes the younger one, Zoey, which I find odd. Here is the statement he describes her in:

'Normally we would have had the vehicle locked because it wasn’t the first time they ever tried to get into the vehicles and play, especially if they thought we were going somewhere. Because they would always get excited when they thought they were gonna get to go somewhere. And so normally we kept the vehicles locked because if it, cause a while back they’d done the same thing but it was late fall early winter. ima.grandma said...

Thanks trustme. The statements are powerful for SA.

His words are so problematic I don't know where to start but my initial radar goes to the long pause...

Now, why does he say they are in their room and laying down wrapped in blankets yet he says "to go do some chores in the house" ? Why does he bother to use the extra words "in the house" unless he was still outside when the girls laid down. Maybe dad was cleaning out the trunk or something to prepare the car for sale. Maybe the girls were playing in the back seat of the car and they laid down and fell asleep. He thought he "had time to go and do some chores in the house."

Anonymous said...

From the Dad's free edited description of events, he describes how when fiance's little brother asked where the kids were, he began looking for them
"All the places they like to hide"

My gut told me yesterday that the kids had gone to the car to hide from him.
Reading through the free editing, there are other indicators this may have occurred including his description he sat on the bed listening after supposedly seeing them wrap themselves in blankets to go to sleep.
It actually sounds to me like he was playing some kind of sick game with them, tormenting them. He may have been attempting to make them experience the terror he felt in combat (which is extremely sick but there are all kinds of linguistic indicators he may have done this). He may have been playing some kind of sick game where he was scaring them, causing them to hide in fear and sitting on his bed giving them a certain amount of time before he would come find them. Why else was he sitting on his bed LISTENING?!?
Follow what he is saying.
He was tormenting the kids.
They hid from him.
That is my theory.

Anonymous said...

Anon 3:11,

I just read your comment.
I too believe he was recreating a combat situation or a situation of terror.
Very sick and I am not sure I am willing to blame it entirely on his PTSD. I believe even with illnesses like PTSD a person would only do such a thing if they were a very bad person.
I believe the girls ended up in the truck because they were hiding from him.

trustmeigetit said...

Just dawned on me...

No guilt. Only that the kids usually get into things they are not supposed to all the time.

But thn he expects us to believe that a 3 and 4 yr old put usually put themselves down for a nap.

NEGLECT is likely.

It bothers me he would say this. It's rare any kid that age takes a nap on their own. Even if one kid does, I struggle with both. Reminds me of Gery and Kate McCann and how all 3 kids just layed down and went to sleep.

Not!

Then they went from asleep to dead in an hour and he heard nothing.

Sure. Cause 3 and 4 yr olds are able to sneak out quietly.

"in the house" - good point. likely shows the girls were not in the house at this point.

agreed it's PTSD and/ but foremost-- HIM. Yes, he's wholely responsible.

I could see them hiding from him in the car cause he's being a terror to them. but I don't know how they would lock the car from inside, all that car locking talk/stuff makes me think he locked them in there.

Combat PTSD is a serious and beastly demon and we are only scratching the service in mental health as far how to deal with it. There are a lot of people that use drugs for a variety of issues but many combat vets smoke pot to take the edge off the worst of the symptoms. Imagine being in a restaurant where there is a birthday party and a balloon is accidentally popped and suddenly the guy beside you tackles you and takes you under the table. You wonder wtf? but he thinks he saved your life. My best friend's husband has combat PTSD and he rents a cabin in the woods that is very secluded for the 4th of July to avoid the fireworks. He could have hurt her in a flashback and then when he came to, placed her in the car with her sister to make it look like it was heat.

To me whats most significanr is that he takes so long to descrive his cimbat experience before getting to topic at hand. tho likely the interviewer sirectly asked him about his military service. but i think how he goes on and on and the detsils he chooses to share - hes explaining to himself as well as to us why hw dis this. the need to feel on the edge of death again was in him.

Anon 6:54, Right, exactly.
Factor narcissism in with PTSD and sprinkle in a big dose of evil you get someone who is making his kids "feel what he felt" and feeling superior while he is doing it.
Anon 5:56, BIG difference between "saving" someone from a popping balloon and the type of PTSD mixed with narcissism sadism it seems the Dad in the story was acting out.

I fed them something to eat and then we came back outside after they were done eating. Maybe an hour later err later. I can’t be yah know, accurate on times.

This is strange language.

He fed them something to eat, why the unecessary qualifiers something to eat
Would he feed them something not to eat?
Why not say i fed them or we had lunch etc?

Maybe an hour later err later.
Oh dear, the dreaded temporal lacuna, he tells us they went back outside after eating but doesn't say what they were doing or did.
He fed them something to eat, then they went outside for an hour, then they come back in.

He tells us they started playing in their room quietly, before wrapping themselves in their blankets.
We have the additional qualifiers of quietly and wrapped in their blankets.
Why does he need to tell us this especially when he says this is what they do generally in these circumstances.

Almost every sentence during the sensitive period starts with AND indicating missing information.
he tells us this is what they generally do.
He doesn't say this is what they did.

I notice he says they were playing in their room quietly so where was he?
He doesn't tell us he looked in and saw them wrapped in their blankets and sleeping, he tells us he thought they were sleeping so he did the laundry and chores.
Since he doesn't tell us he saw them sleeping, how does he know they had wrapped themselves in their blankets and slept before getting out the house and into the truck?

I notice he says wrapped in their blankets as opposed to the expected covered themselves with a blanket.

I wonder if he wrapped them in blankets at some point.
wrapped in my mind makes me think enclosed, surrounded, coveredwould mean placed over.

Yhis is strange and concerning.
First the sentence starts with AND which indicates missing information.

Secondly he tells us his fiancee's little brother ( incomplete social introduction nor does he say his age, are we talking child, teen or adult though younger then the fiancees?)
came out (came out from where?) and asks when he last saw his kids?
This question is unexpected, it is something you ask when you have lost someone or something, not when you are doing chores and having a quick smoke.
It would be asked when you are looking for the person or object.

What would case the boy to ask this question?

The response should have been they are in their room napping for the last hour or so, Why would you jump up and start looking for them when you have no reason for concern since they were napping, unless, you know otherwise and have to do the scared parent act.

I would suggest they polygraph him, or better yet have a statement analyst interview him.

Considering he claims it to be an accident, a horrific event, he seems remarkably resigned to facing charges and jail time.
Will or did they find anything at the autopsies that would indicate it was not as he claimed?

A 2008 Chevy Avalanche. *And my kids were really excited *cause they (hard to understand this part) were gonna get to go and *leave the *house. Or as they would put it, they were gonna get to go “bye bye”. *And… *but they got up in the morning and then ate breakfast and *came outside and played *because a couple of days ago it rained *and they’ve been cooped up in the house *and there real outdoors kids. *And *so, they *came outside *and I was outside with them. They were running around the yard playing Dora the Explorer and *even tried to run off in the woods a couple times like she does on the cartoon. Yah know I had to yell at them to stay in the yard a couple of times *because of it. *And (long pause) lunch time came around, they came in the *house, I fed them something to eat *and then we came back outside *after they were done eating. Maybe an hour later *err *later. I can’t be *yah know, accurate on times. *What happened was* my kids generally put themselves down for a nap especially when they’ve been outside playing a lot *and ah *especially on a warm day. *And they came into the *house *and started playing in their room quietly *and *then they both wrapped up in their blankets *and laid down. *And I *thought they went to sleep *so I *figured I had time to do *go do some chores in the *house. I was in the back of the *house doing *laundry and straightening things up. *And in between load of *laundry I’d go sit on my bed *which is in the next room over from them *and *cause from my room I can always hear them when they get up and start moving around. *And *so I *thought they were asleep *and I *thought I had time to do some chores *and didn’t have to worry about them. *And I
*came outside *to have a cigarette and fiancés little brother *came out* and asked me when the last time id *actually seem my kids was and I told him it was about an hour and both of us immediately *got up and started looking for em *just *because *anytime you’re a parent and somebody brings up the fact that you haven’t seen or heard from your kids for a little while, you go look for them. *And *so we checked the *house, they weren’t in their room, they weren’t anywhere in the *house. We checked all the rooms in the *house. All the places they like to *hide and *get into things.

No guilt, no emotion, all he has to say to the girls' MOTHER is about himself!!! WTF. I don;t hear any remorse over what his daughters suffered, nothing except sefjustification, lies and baming others.

In Atlanta yesterday a man was charged with murder for leaving his 22 month old son in the backseat of his car for 7 hrs while he worked. He was to drop the baby off at daycare, but forgot. Justin Ross Harris has been charged with murder and cruelty to a child. According to Kids and Cars.org this is the 14th case this year. Some of the children were forgoten in the backseat by parents, other times the children climbed in the cars themselves. One child was as old as five. Unfortunatley, this is a common thing now.

Hobnob, good catch on "feeding them something to eat".
Does this indicate fabrication? Or could it suggest he was depriving them of food or punishing them if they ate?
It just seems there is sensitivity regarding nourishment. Perhaps he even fed them something that was not food.

The Dad said "There was a little bit of excitement because the vehicle that my daughter died in, we were supposed to be trading in for another vehicle yesterday"

Did the father premeditate the murder of these children thinking he could trade in the car (perhaps using false papers) and somehow be rid of any evidence left in the car?
Did fiance's little brother asking about where the children were ruin his plan?

They liked.. past tense twice..normally twice

Why, in the later portion of his statement, is he referring to BOTH daughters in the past tense? -Kitt

Did anyone else notice his shirt says "sarcasm" in red letters on the top? I couldn't out make the rest. It's probably irrelevant but I found it odd for some reason.

Yesterday started out pretty much like any other day.

Right of the bat my suspicions are hightened. This has hallmarks of story telling.

Eg. It was a normal day when---

And my kids were really excited cause they (hard to understand this part) were gonna get to go and leave the house,

We flag when the word "left" when it enters a statement, would this come under the same principle?.

they were gonna get to go “bye bye”.

Is this around the time when something happened?. Is he saying goodbye to his children.

And they came into the house and started playing in their room quietly and then they both wrapped up in their blankets and laid down.

playing in their room quietly

Again why the need to tell us they were playing "Quietly" Unless he tells them to be quiet all the time.

I grabbed my youngest girl and she kinda moaned and fought against me

If his daughter felt she was in danger, why would she fight against him. Is this also subtle disparagement.

John,

did you transcribe the entire thing? If so, could I have it?

I'll post analysis of it all.

thank you,

Peter

Hi Peter,

I am about a third of the way through it. I will send it to you when its complete.

Thanks, John.

I will readjust the math, but I don't think it is going to change dramatically.

Hobs, those details about the vehicle are tangents, moving the topic away from his daughter.

Interesting how he needed "CAR KEYS" to get into his "TRUCK/VEHICLE".

I remember playing 'going for a drive' in my mother's car, and my best friends mom's cars....we'd always get in trouble because invariable someone just had to beep that horn. You'd think if those kids were truly locked into the truck-vehicle that needs CAR keys that they'd have played with the horn, too, if it worked.

First all of you picks need to take into consideration that this man lost his child that day and that its possible he had no other means of reaching out...

Second the shirt says sarcasm is a bodies natural defense against stupidity!!!
Which you may run down and pick up at any Wal-Mart...

Third any miss stepped word may have possibly come from the fact that his daughter has just died police and firefighters and paramedics were all there looking at him and judging by this man....

I'd be a little freaked out too if not down right hostile...

Last since its clear from this site that all of you are of the opinion he's guilty...

Isnt your speculation just that all of you weren't there and you analysis doesn't matter to anybody

I think there is something vary wrong with you if you can take the leap of doing laundry to sexual abuse!

It was a pickup.

You get the facts first or at least know the person before making such a statement

Statement Analysis Blog said...

No one knows if sexual abuse is part of this equation, or if, for example, neglect via drugs is involved.

The point of "laundry" and "washings" is this:

In sexual abuse statements, sometimes references to water enter the language. It could mean:

a. sexual abuse was present
b. the subject, himself, was abused in childhood
c. no sexual abuse took place, only laundry

It is a linguistic indicator that CPS will follow up on, but if CPS is following the format that most states follow, they will check for sexual abuse regardless because most states will assess for sexual abuse on every report, every case, every call, no matter the allegation.

I think that you guys are all pathetic. I know the whole family and you could never have met someone who cared more for his daughters, in the proper fatherly way, than Russell does!!! Those girls were always wanting to play in vehicles at the house and they normally keep them locked because of it. There is no trunk on a truck so get that out of your mind, and there were child safety locks on the back doors. How many of you start screaming when it gets warm? I know that with heat I myself fall asleep, which is also known as heat stroke!!! Russell could never cause any harm to either of his daughters, and unless you have lost a child similarly then you HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS LIKE!!

They keep their vehicle keys hung up on a board designed for keys out of reach of the girls. Thus he had to go get the keys.

Finally! Someone with some sense! I know Russ and I know for a fact that he would never do the things these people are more than happy to accuse him of. I would suggest to all that read this to know what you're talking about before you put your 2 cents in.

Finally! Someone with some sense! Thank Darek and Margie for being the voice of reason in all this madness. I know Russ and I know, for a fact, he would never do any of the things these people are more than happy to accuse him of. Just a little advise to those reading this: know what you're talking about before posting.
