Was Shia Labouf Raped?

Actor Shia Lebouf claimed to have been raped.

Is it true?

Here is his statement. Some say it is a publicity stunt.  Is he truthful?

"One woman who came with her boyfriend, who was outside the door when this happened, whipped my legs for ten minutes and then stripped my clothing and proceeded to rape me. ...There were hundreds of people in line when she walked out with disheveled hair and smudged lipstick. It was no good, not just for me but her man as well. On top of that my girl (actress Mia Goth) was in line to see me, because it was Valentine's Day and I was living in the gallery for the duration of the event -- we were separated for five days, no communication. So it really hurt her as well, as I guess the news of it traveled through the line. When she came in she asked for an explanation, and I couldn't speak, so we both sat with this unexplained trauma silently. It was painful."

Here is the statement again, with emphasis added:

"One woman who came with her boyfriend, who was outside the door when this happened, whipped my legs for ten minutes and then stripped my clothing and proceeded to rape me.

Note "one woman" and not "a" woman, or even "the" woman is stated by number.  This is expected when more than "one" is present, as it is numerical. What is the purpose of using a number?

"Proceeded" indicates a passing of time and unfolding of events.  Proceeded means that other things happened during this time, that are not mentioned.

Note "with" between people shows distance.  He brings the boyfriend into the rape statement, yet puts distance between her and her boyfriend.

1.  whipped my legs
2.  stripped my clothing (and not "me")
3.  "proceeded" to rape me

note the inclusion of "door" (being "outside") "when this happened", which is also passive.

Passivity is used to conceal identity or responsibility.  It is often used by deceptive people.

...There were hundreds of people in line when she walked out with disheveled hair and smudged lipstick.

Note the inclusion of an unnecessary element. What do the "hundreds of people" have to do with "rape"?  Note he does not say that they witnessed her, nor witnessed anything.  He does not say they saw her, but she "walked out";
if something took place, it may be that "one woman" "walked out" on him.

It was no good, not just for me but her man as well.

Note that "it was no good" is passive language.
Note the inclusion of the boyfriend, who is now "her man."

Is there anything within the statement that justifies the change of "boyfriend" to "her man"?

"It was no good", being passive language, is the connected also to "her man."

On top of that my girl (actress Mia Goth) was in line to see me, because it was Valentine's Day

The name of "my girl" is not part of his statement.  This is an incomplete social introduction and indicative of a problematic relationship.
Note the need to explain why his "girl" came to see him as very sensitive.

this is critical in understanding his statement.

What is the difference, in his own language, between "my girl" and "my girlfriend"?

and I was living in the gallery for the duration of the event

The location of his living is given and is sensitive to him.  She was not living there with him.

-- we were separated for five days, no communication. So it really hurt her as well, as I guess the news of it traveled through the line.

For him and her boyfriend it was "no good" but for his "girl" it "really hurt" which also suggests that he cheated on her.

He only "guesses" the "news" traveled through the line.

When she came in she asked for an explanation, and I couldn't speak, so we both sat with this unexplained trauma silently.

She "asked" for an explanation of "rape", which requires no explanation.
Note the tension from body posture "sat" in his statement.

It was painful.

This is not only passive language, but it comes last in his statement.

The passivity does not tell us for whom it was painful.  This suggests that he was caught cheating on his girlfriend.

I do not think this is a publicity stunt, as stated by some in media, but a deceptive response to being caught cheating.

He was not raped and the sensitivity about his "girl" indicates why he is deceptive.

One woman who came with her boyfriend, who was outside the door when this happened, whipped my legs for ten minutes and then stripped my clothing and proceeded to rape me. --------------1. "came" sounds like she was invited... why does he need to say she "came?" 2. with her boyfriend... again, this sounds like he's introducing them... like they were invited. 3. "when this happened"... Where was he before this happened? 4. Whipped my legs for 10 minutes... ten minutes? Did he time it? 5. Proceeded to rape me... Why doesn't he mention trying to stop her or even saying no?

"whipped my legs for ten minutes and then stripped my clothing and proceeded to rape me.

Missing pronoun before "whipped my legs" who "whipped" his "legs" ?

"for ten minutes"

This is a very precise time. Was he watching the clock. It is for me, highly unlikely ?

"and then stripped my clothing"

"and then"

Temporal lacunae, a skip in time.
What happened between him being "whipped" and his clothes being "stripped" ?

Missing pronoun between "then" and "stripped". Who was it that allegedly done this ? Here, he assumes the reader to fill in the gaps for him, and assume it was ""One woman who came with her boyfriend," If he doesn't tell us we cant say it for him..This and the dropped pronouns, have my suspicions heightened, whether this occurred ?

Amanda Knox has been hired as a correspondent for a Seattle online paper. Her first topic? Why it's about herself of course. Or supposedly. What It Feels Like to Be Wrongly Accused

She switches awkwardly between first and third person, first person when discussing facts not in question and then back to third when disclosing the somatic and emotional symptoms of false accusation.

Strangely, her physiological descriptions, including the twitching, aching and avoidance of eye contact sound identical to what someone suffering from guilt would experience, and less like the rage and indignation I would experience under false accusation.

Most interesting though are these physical descriptions: "You wake up drained, your whole body weighed down by a lethargy you can’t shake off." - Meredith Kercher died from blood loss, her death was not quick.

"You’ll be tense from your ears to your lower abdomen, struggling to swallow, struggling to breathe." - Meredith Kercher died lying on her back, drowning in her own blood as it filled her lungs.

She ends with: " It is very lonely, and yet, there are so many more of us out there than you know, holding our breath." - Meredith Kercher will be holding her breath for a very long time indeed.

What can you make of this writing Peter?

I find this apt.

Knox: "making you self-conscious about looking people in the face" - why would the falsely accused feel ashamed to look other's in the face?

"tension above your right eyebrow and below your right nostril that sometimes triggers both to twitch uncontrollably," - what she describes here is called "flinching."

"There’s pressure that squeezes your temples and tingles on the edges of your eyeballs, making it hard to concentrate." - knowing you must lie to everyone, everyday, for the rest of your life could certainly give you migraines.

"All of it, even years later, can transform into a full-blown panic attack—triggered by a ghost of a memory" - who's ghost?

"That anxiety arrives even in the most casual and safe of circumstances, like at family barbecues. You’re hypersensitive to what people say, don’t say, and how they say it." - knowing that everyone you speak to for the rest of your life is trying to either catch you in a lie or protect themselves from your lies, yes, that would be stressful.

The glaring irony of this is she served one year in prison, she is a convicted felon, and her crime was for the false accusation of Dia Lumumba. She falsely accused another man of Meredith's murder and was tried, convicted and served her time for it. The hypocricy of her writing is invisible to her. Guilty or innocent of the murder, asking us to feel sorry for her sad emotions, while still never having made amends, nor paid her judgement against her own victim to remedy the very malice she claims to have been made to suffer from. It makes my head spin.

Peter - How ironic that Shia's art installation where this occurred had the title "I am sorry". I don't think you got the full quote on what he said:

“One woman who came with her boyfriend, who was out side the door when this happened, whipped my legs for 10 minutes and then striped my clothing and proceeded to rape me… then walked out with her lipstick smudged to her awaiting boyfriend who i image was quite hurt by it,” Shia said. “All this happened in front of hundreds of people… Yea it was no good. Not just for me but her man as well.
“On top of that my girl [Mia Goth] was in line to come see me because it was Valentines Day & I was living in the gallery sleeping in a sleeping bag for the duration of the event – we were separated for 5 days,” Shia added. “No communication. So it really hurt her as well as I guess the news of it traveled through the line. She was only about 25 people back when she came in she asked for an explanation and i couldn’t speak so we both sat with this unexplained trauma silently. It was painful. The hardest part of the show.”

one woman-because then he only has to describe one. easier to keep the story straight?

Anonymous said...

He does not express any effort to get the one woman to stop. how could he see how she looked walking out? The dynamic of do to me what you want - is his making. if he chooses not to establish boundaries he does it deliberately.

Peter i think you are more or less right on this one. his girlfriend seeing was the problem hes trying to fix. otherwise it would have been fine.

Why was his girlfriend in line to see him? She is a girlfriend Why does she have to wait in line?

Also, I noticed and on top of that statement. It has always got on my nerves whenever I hear it, even before I heard Billie Jean Dunn and Casey Anthony say it.

I should have posted this with my previous statement.

I avoid hearing news about celebrities. I think Shia Labouf is an actor? Why were people in line to see him? I don't understand why his girlfriend had to wait in the line to see him?

He cheated on his girlfriend and in order to get by with it,he lies and pretends to be upset and gain sympathy. So he doesnt have to admit to g/f the truth.

"What is the purpose of using a number?"

He had some sort of "human encounter" with lots of women (and men) during the exhibition. It is possible he was summing it up. He had sex with (or was raped by) 1, probably hugged by 10... etc.
It sounds like a project that went too far. Even though he speaks about the alleged rape, the "beauty" of his project is the focal point of his interview.

During the exhibition he was in a room with a bag over his head. People would wait in line, then sit across a table from him in the room and the two were supposed to connect to each other.

"I felt cared for however it came"
"Im finding my self through these projects," he explained to Dazed. "im exploring."

Most likely it went too far, and he did not stop it.

Shia's account of the incident has been confirmed by two other people working there with him. I think the real issue is that men are traditionally not believed when they say they were raped. I can understand his reluctance to file a police report.
OT, I was watching Mysteries at the Museum and they had a recording of an interview that was done by someone (last name Derenberger I believe) who encountered the Mothman in West Virginia. This has always fascinated me. I was wondering if there could ever be an analysis of his statements? Audio reels at the Mothman Museum

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

This is the most telling statement of all, in my opinion. I've never heard a victim describe their rape as "no good." To me, saying "no good" or "not good" connotes being in trouble.

Also, and even more importantly, I've never heard of a rape victim who considered themselves someone the rapist "cheated with." Why would Shia even be thinking of the rapist's boyfriend's feelings if he was truly a victim of a sexual assault?

Artists working with Shia LaBeouf back up claims he was raped by a woman whose boyfriend was waiting outside and say they intervened 'and put a stop to it'

LaBeouf, 28, lived in an L.A. gallery for five days in February and invited the public to sit with him in silence for his #IAMSORRY art show
Last Thursday he revealed that one woman raped him during the show
British artist Luke Turner and Finnish artist Nastja Säde Rönkkö have now backed up the actor's claim and said they 'put a stop to it'
The 'rapist's' boyfriend was apparently outside the room while she 'whipped' and 'stripped' the Hollywood actor

So with people standing in line outside the door, he was raped by one woman?

Interesting no mention of a weapon, being confined, anything to explain how she was able to rape him.

How did one woman gain control over a man with hundreds of people right outside.

Makes no sense at all.

Oh, the irony.. Maybe she feels that way because many don't believe her?

I don't think she killed Meredith, and I don't think Amanda was in the appartement when Rudy killed her.

The Italian police and law are on par with Russia, i.e. corrupt.

Had I been wrongfully accused of murder, my thoughts and concern would have been myself.

The premise of the "Performance" was that the patrons could go into the room and do whatever they wanted with Shia Lebouf. It's a stupid premise and not at all new in performance art. One would assume that if a patron came in with a gun or knife and attempted murder, he'd immediately choose to drop the premise. He was not incapacitated by anything, tied up or drugged. There were hundreds of people there, waiting outside the door, some of them probably security personelle. Without even using SA I totally belive he chose to have sex with this woman. Anon J

What does he mea by ´rape´? Why are you even following the language without knowing what on earth he is talking about?

Anal penetration?

Or now it´s ´rape´ if a woman initiates sex with a man who´s apparently willing enough to physically penetrate her???

i´m outraged he´s getting away with this bs. It´s a complete affront to real victims of rape.

Anonymous said...

´´whe it happened´´ ´´all this happened ´´it´´ very passive language. Something certainly happened all right and it wasn´t rape. How could it have been?

Aother give away ' her boyfriend hurt, his girlfriend hurt as well.

But strangely he isnt hurt himself.´

Seemingly cares more about cuckolding the complete stranger in the queue than
having sex with another woman while his girlfriend stands in line to see him. What a prince.

I hope the woman comes forward and calls his absolute bullshit.

Anonymous said...

One woman etc etc´ means there were other women who did different things to him.

Native speakers of English only ever use this construction when they are emphasising the number one against another number or comparing the one with ánother woman´or more.

Otherwise they would say ´a woman´.

--Sounds like he is taking the opportunity to brag about this. One woman- may be that he is referring that there were several throwing themselves at him to rape him, and one even brought her boyfriend along and this one managed to whip his legs and no one noticed, then stripped his clothing (against his will). I don't see how he can explain how she stripped his clothing against his will, then he put his clothes back on in time to continue his whatever it was he was doing?
