Disarming the Police in America

Today is May 31st, 2015, and as this is posted, it is 12Noon EST.  Sadly, these statistics may change in the next 12 hours.

Should America's police be disarmed as some are calling for?

I argue that, in effect, they have been, to a degree, disarmed.

With the unity revealed between the White House and Baltimore city officials, as revealed in the analysis of the district attorney's speech in which she announced charges against the 6 Baltimore police officers, including murder,  we ask the questions:

Will the White House admit that the "stand down" and "give space" and demonization of police has led to the deaths of black American citizens in Baltimore?

Will Obama admit the error, and instruct Baltimore officials to "get tough" on crime?

Hillary Clinton blamed her husband's "tough" policies against crime for the riots. Bill Clinton, via the tougher drug laws, saw that black children were the targets of drug gangs, and saw that the drugs were imported through lax security at the borders.  It may have sounded cliche at the time, but Ronald Reagan wanted to get the venom of drugs away from our youth.

Today?

Few people argue that our young people need any more incentive to be less willing to work, so that when they want to "mellow out" with "medical marijuana" because they were able to convince someone that they have "ADHD", and their parents thought that tearing them away from video games was tough before, what will it be now?  Few people wish to tell a cancer patient suffering under chemo-therapy that they should not use pot, but the industry for "medical" marijuana has become far dirtier than most Americans would believe.  The young voters, however, love it.

Will she admit she was wrong, a few weeks ago, and now call for "get tough policing" and tough sentences for violent crime to save black lives?

Will any of the Republican candidates step forward to protect black lives with any sense of realism?

Or will the demonization of police continue, including Al Sharpton's call for "federalizing" all police, and the protestors' call to "disarm police"?

The message from the White House was echoed throughout American politicians across the country:

"Young black males are being killed by police all the time."

This is the lie that is being repeated in order to deliberately increase anger and solidify a strong voting block for the politicians propagating this deception.

The "disarming of police" has already begun.

I. The denial of military weaponry to local police

Within reasonable standards, the police need to be as armed as society's enemies are.  They must be able to meet and overcome threats, yet Obama sent a very strong signal to law enforcement around the country with his recent denial of such equipment.  As the mob mentality as grown, instead of entrusting local police (remember, we still have the freedom to move to a State where we feel most comfortable with its laws and practices), he is training military troops in urban tactics in American cities, and are not giving reasonable explanations of the actions.  It goes on while the call for "federalizing" police is made, and demonization of local police continues.

Even if one argues that such weapons are not needed by police, this was not in the framing of explanation, but should have been.  Instead, it was used to, in many media outlets, portray the police as out of control tyrants looking for tanks to run down citizens.

II.  The verbal disarming of police

This has been the deliberate verbal assaults against police from the beginning and is behind the Ferguson and Baltimore riots.  This is the revolutionary rhetoric that was seemingly limited to unrealistic 60's radical talk.

Not so fast.

The revolutionary ideas that have long been dismissed as "60's radicalism" or "conspiracy theory" or "left over hippie nonsense" appear to have new life.

Recall singers, Joan Baez and Bob Dylan  singing and protesting , "Raze the prison walls!  Raze all the prison walls!" This was the song's answer to injustice to one man.

This common theme is repeated, in various forms, by those who often live in safe, gated communities often with private security.

Would they sing to tear down the prison walls if they lived in Baltimore?

It isn't the song of the law abiding citizens in Baltimore who fear for their lives each and every day are singing.

Can you imagine living in fear, day in and day out, the way they do?

  I cannot.

Now we have the after-effects as we watch the pendulum swing as human nature reacts to injustice with often more injustice and 'counter-reaciton' seeking to appease whichever mob is the loudest (and has the most votes) at any given time.

The police now fear:

Mob justice. This is where they answer a criminal call and are met with a large, angry mob, ready to take them on.  If you were an officer, or even a pair, in a squad car and pulled up to see such a sight, would you not get back into your car and drive away?

What about a call for back up?

Who would want to respond?

Police will have to be ordered off of calls in order to respond, as they will, in self-preservation, claim to be too occupied to answer the call for assistance or back up.  They are in "survival mode" in the cities where they are attacked.

Being arrested for making procedural mistakes.

Imagine trying to determine if a knife is "spring loaded" versus "switch blade" knowing that if you are wrong, you, the officer, could face arrest??

This is insanity on steroids.

Retribution

Police have families, including children.  Would you, as an officer, be in fear that you will be arrested, and perhaps, antagonistic media will publish your home address, only to issue an 'apology' and retraction after its too late?

Since "bloods and crips" are no longer ruthless killers making fantastic profits by selling drugs to children, and are now "the good guys" according to the cozy  relationship between the politicians in Baltimore and the media, for example, would you feel comfortable opposing them?

Would you volunteer for undercover work in the very gangs that have now received praise?

Forget risking your life by being discovered inadvertently by the gangs, would you now fear that the spineless ambitious politicians, or brass, might out you?

Can police believe that "someone has my back" and will be supportive, while they watched their colleagues charged with an abundance of over-reaching allegations?

Racism

Arresting someone who is black, with the accusation of "racism" has to be on the mind of all non-black officers while black officers now face,

"Who's side are you on?"

Remember:  the backlash is inevitable.

Will black police officers now be viewed as "them" by non-black officers?

Black officers now may face the same fears that non-black officers face but now may get charges of "Uncle Tom" by black residents, and possible over-reaction from non black officers within their own ranks.

Black police officers in Baltimore may have it even worse than non-black.

The ultimate racism is by the politicians, particularly the ambitious ones with deep connections to the White House. They have turned their backs upon the black citizens of Baltimore, in order to further their own agenda.  These black citizens, including the innocent black lives that were lost this past week, are being sacrifice by those who care only for their own political gains.

As black criminals shoot black criminals at a rate where more black males die in a weekend in just one city, than have died at the hands of police in the entire country, over the course of a 52 weeks, the ultimate victims are the mothers and children living in harm's way, cut down by bullets meant for someone else.

Do these black lives matter?

Will these be Obama's children?

Will these receive Al Sharpton protests, marches and boycotts?

Since the answers are known, better to ask, "Why don't these black lives matter?"

Why are black citizens in New York asking Di Blasio to reinstate "stop and frisk" as violent crime soars and arrests drop?

Why don't these black lives matter?

Why are these cities ignored while the flow of immigration from Muslim nations continue without interruption even though joblessness among blacks is so high?

It's racism to tell an entire race that survived slavery that they are incapable of gaining success via education and hard work, but need generational dependence upon a government that cannot do basic math.

Want an immigration compromise to satisfy all?

Here's a law:  you're welcome to immigrate to the United States, legally, but you will be ineligible for welfare benefits for the first 5 years here.  You will have to pay taxes for 5 years before being eligible.

Let businesses offer jobs to those here, already.

Let teachers teach.

Let the children of black parents work hard by telling them they can succeed.  Stop telling them they are inferior and need hand outs.  This is racism.  Stop shouting down black leaders who want to see blacks compete honorably with others.

This begins with respect of authority, starting with the family, and then on to teachers and law enforcement officials.

I agree that the reverse racism where lesser qualified candidates for employment and promotion has hurt police, overall, as oft-predicted it would, but so does the incessant tearing down of authority, over all, in black communities.  PBS having children sing songs based upon a a lie means that the learning of this lie is even stronger, since it has emotional elements to it.  "Hands Up!" is now being seen with "Disarm the Police" and "How to Survive Police" for black youth.  It has a common denominator:

Resent authority and victim status.  This is when they should be respecting authority and lawfully competing for jobs and success. The world is a tough place, and politicians are making it more difficult for blacks to succeed, while they successfully build a voter base for themselves.

Police demonization has only benefited criminals and the politicians in power.  It has hurt citizens and hurt black communities.

III. The emboldenment of the criminal element.  This includes the positive press that two violent murderous criminal organizations received in Baltimore when the two gangs were portrayed as "protectors."

What message was sent to the violent rioters when the language changed from "thugs" to "misunderstood youth"?  It was another excuse of behavior, in a long and devastatingly effect philosophy where we work overtime at finding ways to excuse immoral behavior.  The push for "GSA", or "genetic sexual attraction" so that it can be applied to pedophiles, will remove the last restraints of the criminal threat that protects our children beyond our own parental attention.

When illegal and immoral behavior is excused,  the pendulum's natural swing is to:

Blame the victim.

I wrote recently how, in domestic violence, telling the female victim she should not have done this, or said that, because it provoked the abuser,  was to embolden the abuser, yet the NY Times and other media blamed the free speech advocates for violence, excusing the Islamic vow to kill any of us who speak against Mohammad.

The Koran teaches violence against women, death to homosexuals and extortion from the rest of us, yet women carry signs saying "No hate" targeting the anti-Islam protestors??  If Islam has its way, it will first say "thank you, ladies" to the women, and then silence them by taking away their right to assemble without their husbands' presence.  Should they resist this, the Koran calls for their physical punishment.

Sharia Crime:  She is uncovered in public and fails English Grammar 101

This is what happens when we suspend critical thinking and buy short-sighted politically motivated lies.  Obama had "Islam" taken from "Islamic Terror" in federal guidelines.  It is like removing "Mein Kamp" from anti-Nazi tactics, or racism from anti-KKK instructional manuals.

This week alone we have the contributions of the "religion of peace" to the world:

51 Jihad Attacks
773 Dead
331 Critical injuries
*unknown the number of rapes or millions of dollars in damage due to destruction.  The "love" is best kept from us, whenever possible.  There are no records of "jizya" to date, but we saw that one family did pay the ransom, which was received, but the family member killed, just the same.

We now have emboldened young black males, in schools, with "restorative justice", to bad behavior instead of rigorous academic standards which would have helped them compete for jobs.

How is this not racism?

How is empowering black youth to rebel against authority, specifically, teachers and police officers, setting them up for a life time of being unable to follow orders, helping them?  Will bosses want to hire someone who refuses to follow directives and answers with taunting obscenities and demands to be "understood" based upon skin pigmentation?

Drug Dealers will feel more freedom in their retail and wholesale sales within neighborhoods where they know police are reluctant to respond.  This means:

Shake downs of local business owners just became easier;

Access to children to sell drugs will be protected by a wall of "protestors" blocking police access;

Police will, themselves, fear being accused of racism for arrested drug dealers who are black;

Police will fear being having "probable cause" when "probable cause" is staring them in the face:  how do I explain it when a known drug dealer looks at me and goes into a panic run, and not get falsely accused? This higher level of standard removes intuition because, in Baltimore, if we listen to their politicians, is, itself, racist, even if from a black officer.

Police will be terrified of pulling their weapon and know that the criminal who is selling drugs is not only armed but he knows that the police are reluctant to use their weapons.

Even if the officer feels his life is being threatened, how can any officer forget Ferguson?  There, the officer could have been beaten to death had he not used deadly force.  When his injuries were viewed, they were minimized in media.

What should now be the accepted injury to a police officer before he uses his weapon?

Should he first be concussed?  Bruised?  Broken bone?

The absurdity is seen in seeking any injury standard, yet this was the implication in the ridiculing or even measuring of an officer's condition after an assault by a criminal.

No assault upon police is acceptable, just as no suspect in passive surrender should be subject to assault by police.

The videos that have arisen of police assaults or excessive force help eliminate the rotten that must be expunged fro the ranks of the honorable.

IV.  The increase of smuggling of arms into America by illegal immigration and the Obama doctrine of "stand down" to border patrol conspire to leave police not only vulnerable, but in an emotionally vulnerable position.

The pay is just not worth the risk now.  Seriously, how much, per week, is worth answering a call, knowing that:

a.  I could be physically attacked
b.  I could be arrested
c.  I could lose my life, my career, or even my freedom ?

What does this do the body's stress levels after a single call or two?  What does it then do to the body's immune system when this goes on every day, week after week?

As I wrote of the long term ill effects of racial profiling upon the law abiding citizens, so too we must acknowledge the stress, at any pay, is unsustainable.

We will have more and more law enforcement leaving and rather than "dropping test scores" of majorities, or inflating test scores of minorities, we will have to, in one grand swoop,

lower the threshold of entrance into law enforcement just to fill positions that no one in his or her right mind, would take.

We will also have to come to grips with the sheer number in law enforcement who will need after-care, physically and psychologically, from the damage inflicted upon them in this "revolution" by politicians.

V.  The inherent racism in failing to protect black lives.

Remember how quickly politicians went from "anger" at rioters, to raging against police.  It was an overnight change.

Yes, criminals shoot criminals and rival gangs, emboldened by the political climate, are doing so all over the country, but what of the unarmed, innocent citizens of whom no march, no picket line, and no voices are raised over?

Where is the memorial to the dead mother and child by the same government that facilitated the atmosphere that led to their deaths?

How many more black children must die at the hands of "misguided youth" before a wholesale change in attitude takes place, specifically towards:

Police,
Teachers,
and personal responsibility?

Something must change, but it is not the "change" most voted for 6 years ago.

Disarm the police?

If the prevailing atmosphere does not change, disarming the police will not be necessary:

                                                It has already been done.

Disarming America is not the answer.

Impossible.
