Violent Crime Report During Anti-Police Sentiment

Language is key to understanding motive, yet it is even with media's language that we are able to understand bias.

What do you make of the news report itself?  What do you think the consequences will be, nationwide, as police are, more and more, portrayed in the negative light?

What about the flaming of race and the "hate crime" status attached to some, but not to others?

Is this a "hate crime" due to race?  Or, is it accurately reported?

Much for you to comment upon.

Is this part of the repercussion of the flaming of racial differences in Baltimore? Even though 3 of the 6 officers charged are black, the chants continued "No justice, no peace, no racist police" in the ongoing protests. As police continue to be vilified by politicians, locally and federally, will this use of "words" cause some officers to hesitate in intervening? What of the inevitable "backlash" that occurs every time in life and history when an "us versus them" is artificially elevated? Note even former politicians who once presented as "tough on crime" have 'recanted' or used distancing language since the Baltimore riot. Politicians are denigrating law enforcement. Is this something lost upon the youth in America? What about criminals, particularly organized criminals (gangs)? Are they empowered as police are unjustly condemned, en masse?

Off topic

Boston University had a weekend change of heart about a new professor's angry tweets about white people, after FoxNews.com and others reported on the racially-charged comments -- and Terrier alumni threatened to stop writing checks.

Saida Grundy, an incoming assistant professor of sociology and African-American studies at the school, tweeted in recent weeks that "white masculinity is THE problem for america’s (sic) colleges," white men are a "problem population,” and that she tries to avoid shopping at white-owned businesses. On Friday, her new employer's spokesman, Colin Riley, told FoxNews.com that the tweets came from Grundy's personal Twitter account and that she was "exercising her right to free speech and we respect her right to do so.”

Then, amid a deluge of angry emails from former students, the school sought to amend the comment.

“The University does not condone racism or bigotry in any form and we are deeply saddened when anyone makes such offensive statements,” Riley told FoxNews.com Saturday.

The tweets were first noticed by a student at University of Massachusetts Amherst, Nick Pappas, who posted them on his website “SoCawlege.com” and questioned how Grundy could teach a diverse classroom given the racial hostility in her tweets.

“You have to teach college-aged white males eventually, no?... this seems like you are unqualified to grade their work as you clearly demonstrate some kind of special bias against them,” he wrote.

After the news broke, some alumni and donors wrote the school to complain.

“It is truly a sad day to be a BU alum,” one Boston University graduate from the class of 2008 told FoxNews.com, and shared a letter he had sent to University President Robert Brown and the dean of students.

“In light of the university’s willingness to invite vile rhetoric onto a campus that I spent four wonderful years at, I commit to never donate to Boston University,” he wrote in his letter.

Another wrote, “As a Boston University alumnus and a father of a son who will graduate from BU next week, I am deeply saddened by this revelation. It has become apparent that BU no longer supports a value system in line with human decency.”

Although Riley's condemnation of the racist tweets was new, he reiterated that Grundy had a right to sound off against white males.

“ ... the opinions expressed by Dr. Grundy, in what were seemingly private electronic messages, constitutes her opinion and we must recognize her right to have that opinion whether or not we agree,” Riley said.

Grundy did not respond to requests for comment from FoxNews.com, and has made her twitter account private. She will start working at the university in June.

Those who follow campus politics say they are not shocked.

"I'm not surprised that Boston University is hiring a racist to teach African-American Studies," David Horowitz, author of “Reforming our Univerisities,” told FoxNews.com. "Anti-white racism is rampant in Black Studies programs."

Horowitz added that the university’s reaction betrays double-standards on race.

“If she were a white racist rather than an anti-white racist, she would never be hired. Professors are supposed to be experts in some scholarly field, and professionals in their classroom discourse. They don't have a license to indoctrinate students in their prejudices -- whether those prejudices are right or left,” he said.

Grundy posted a number of other controversial tweets, for instance incorrectly claiming that only whites enslaved entire generations of people. “Deal with your white sh*t, white people. slavery is a *YALL* thing,” she said.

Free speech advocates say that Grundy should have a right to her speech, but say the university speech policy is hypocritical because it allows the university to censor offensive or bigoted speech if it wanted to.

“Professor Grundy should and must have the freedom to publicly express her opinions on controversial topics. Unfortunately, though, [she] could be punished if she were to send such tweets through the BU computer network, as the university bans ‘transmitting...offensive’ material,” Robert Shibley of Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) told FoxNews.com.

“In addition, if she were a student, she could also potentially be punished for violating policies banning ‘bigotry, hatred, and intolerance,’ and for not expressing her opinion ‘in good taste and decency.’ … [BU] should eliminate these policies so that it can defend every student and faculty member's right to free speech – not just Professor Grundy's.”

I will be interested to see if they hire her or if they say hell no and drop her.

If they do, i hope they have good lawyers as she will play the race card, the gender card, and, i suspect, the sexuality card.

If they would fire a white teacher or student for saying the exact same comments ( amended to say black instead of white) then they have to do the same for a black teacher or student or a teacher or pupil of any other ethnicity.

I am sure parents will be wondering about her ability to stay unbiased teaching her classes, their chidren.

I wonder what would happen if white students, especially males, showed up to her class.
I wonder if she would demand they leave, claim they were a threat as per her alleged claims of them being a college problem.

Would their test and coursework be marked down?

I do wonder what would happen if there was a course of White-American studies?

George Zimmerman 'suffers gunshot wound during altercation with another man in Florida'

George Zimmerman has suffered a gunshot wound during an altercation with another man in Florida, according to reports.
The former neighborhood watch officer, who was acquitted in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin in 2013, was seen walking to an ambulance following the incident in Lake Mary on Monday.
Police said his wound was only minor.
'He walked normally into the ambulance, so he wasn't being helped or nothing,' witness Ricardo Berrare told WESH.
The shooting involved two men and happened on Lake Mary Boulevard, police told the channel.
The 31-year-old has repeatedly made headlines for altercations following his 2013 acquittal.
In that case, he was accused of murdering Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old unarmed black teenager, in Sanford, Florida in February 2012, but he claimed he had acted in self defense.
The Department of Justice cleared him of Civil Rights violations in connection with youngster's death earlier this year - and Zimmerman responded by saying he did not feel guilty for the killing.
'Only in a true life-and-death scenario can you have mental clearness to know that you cannot feel guilty for surviving,' he said in a video released by his law firm.
Since his acquittal, Zimmerman has been arrested several times by Lake Mary police.
In September 2013, his estranged wife, Shellie Zimmerman, called 911 and claimed he had attacked her father and threatened he with a gun. She decided to not press any charges.
Then in November 2013, Zimmerman was arrested for domestic violence against his new girlfriend, Samantha Scheibe. She later dropped the charges.
Nearly a year later, in September 2014, Zimmerman was arrested for a road rage incident.
After exchanging words with a truck driver, Zimmerman allegedly asked the him, 'Do you know who I am?', before allegedly saying, 'I'll (expletive) kill you.'
And in January, he was arrested for allegedly hurling a wine bottle at his girlfriend during a domestic dispute. No charges were filed in that case.

Update:

Wesley Hadsell charges sent to grand jury

Wesley Hadsell, stepfather of Anjelica “AJ” Hadsell, appeared Monday in General District Court on charges of obstructing justice, breaking and entering, maiming or killing an animal and possession of ammunition by a felon.

Two friends of AJ Hadsell testified that Wesley Hadsell told them he had broken into the house of Corey French and his mother Rita Spillsbury.

He told them he had found AJ Hadsell’s jacket under a couch cushion and draped it across the couch.

Later, after one of the friends had gone to the house and seen the jacket, Hadsell pulled a group of the friends together and told them that if anyone told the police what he’d done, they would be “dealt with.”

Hadsell also said he was a member of the Aryan Brotherhood, a white supremacist gang.

The obstruction of justice and possession of ammunition by a felon charges were sent to a grand jury. The breaking and entering and maiming or killing an animal charges were dropped.

AJ Hadsell went missing March 2. She was last seen at her parents’ home in the Tarrallton area of Norfolk.

Norfolk Police conducted a series of searches for her.

On March 6, Wesley Hadsell broke into Spillsubury’s home. His lawyer said in General District Court that he broke in because he believed AJ Hadsell might have been in the house.

Prosecutors said he was “seeking to impede” the investigation into his stepdaughter’s disappearance.

AJ Hadsell’s remains were found April 9.

No cause of death has been released.

I don't know, but time will tell. I can only hope people raise their children to have respect for law enforcement. My kids are only 11 and 12 and I forget what prompted the conversation, but we recently had to talk about the fact that there may be "bad police" but we need to remember they are mostly good. I hated to have that conversation, because I had always told them to trust and do everything they are told by the police. It was a sad conversation because I grew up being told to always trust LE and I always told my kids the same thing until recently. They have to know though...

This is my neighborhood (Dundalk, MD ZIP Code 21222) . About a year and a half ago, my daughter's then-fiance saw some teenagers fighting on HIS car and went out to ask them to stop... This could have been him, lying in a hospital bed. Wow. This is scary.

Why are they fighting ON people's cars? Is this a thing?

I watched "Selma" the other night, and it occurred to me that the professional protestors are using MLK's tactics. They are rushing into "hot spots" and then using the media to portray police as brutalizing one race.

The thing is that MLK did not have to manufacture racism and police brutality. It was there for all to see and the media to film. Today, much of it is being manufactured and downright made up.

The professional protestors seem to have an agenda that calls racism "You have more than me. How can that be fair." They call it cultural racism. The protestors of the city in question loot and destroy because they fall for that line. They feel unjustly treated...they are the have nots. TV has shown them repeatedly what they should have and how they should live. The media jumps in because they're all about ratings, and police killing a Black suspect sells right now. I mean, who's covering the two officers ( one black) shot to death in Mississippi?

As to your question about police...I've seen this coming for quite awile. It is a complicated situation. Police need be in control of every interaction for the public's safety. That might be with friendly conversation, or stern commands, or even physically. But they need to be in control to ensure our safety. Just as a teacher is in control of the classroom and a parent their home. I think the general population is just now seeing how police take control in crime ridden areas, not understanding that force is necessary. Not understanding that at any moment a suspect with a history of violence very likely will become violent again. Add in how lobbying from interest groups has legally put a gun in many people's hands and every arrest is a potentially dangerous situation.

I've gone on enough, but one last thing...what's happening to city police now happened to Federal LE years ago. Look at the history of the ATF. That agency deals with the most violent crime and criminals...gangs, cartels, weapons, explosives. The agency was purposely set apart from the DOJ and agents earn the highest security clearance. Congress (and the NRA) couldn't wait to get them under the DOJ and incapacitate their powers. By doing so, they were free to sell more weapons. If you think that's crazy look at the board members of the NRA.

how come we don't get protests when a white guy is shot and/or killed by a black cop?

how come we don't get protests when a hispanic is shot and/or killed by a a non hispanic cop?

How come we don't get protests when a hispanic cop is shot by a non hispanic person?

How come we don't get protests when a black cop is shot by a white person person?

How come we don't get protests when a white cop is shot by a black person?

where is all the rioting and looting and protesting then?

Where are the leaders when that happens demanding justice, claiming it was a race hate crime?

All i see is silence
