Woman Suing NYPD Alleges Assault

Woman claims NYPD cops beat her in subway while her kids watched, files lawsuit

from NY Daily News
A woman on her way home from the hospital after giving birth was slammed to the ground in front of her newborn son and two other kids by cops suspecting her of turnstile jumping, a new lawsuit charges.
Natisha Sessoms, 38, says the traumatic fiasco began after she swiped through the turnstile and opened the gate to let her 1-day-old baby in a stroller onto the 135th St. station platform after leaving Harlem Hospital on Jan. 14, 2014.

That’s when Officer Endora Shropshire accused her of turnstile jumping, papers filed in Manhattan Federal Court say.

The confrontation escalated, and cops took Sessoms down by a “leg whip,” pressed her face against the ground and kicked her in the ribs, the suit claims.

“I felt like I was being raped in front of my children,” said Sessoms, who added she moved to Newark to escape the NYPD.

“Like we were helpless.”

Her older children, Naimah, 14, and Tauretjalia, 7, witnessed the beating, according to the suit. Sessoms said she and her kids recently stopped going to therapy.

“She is afraid of police. She no longer feels they are there to protect her,” said her attorney, Royce Russell.

Charges against Sessoms were eventually dismissed. She seeks damages to be determined at trial.
The NYPD referred questions to the Law Department, which said the allegations were being reviewed.

OT Update:

Dylan Redwine’s Mom: ‘He Murdered His Son’ About Ex

DENVER (CBS4) – What happened to Dylan Redwine? That question was the focus of the Dr. Phil Show Wednesday as he interviewed the deceased teen’s parents, Elaine and Mark Redwine, and Dylan’s brother Cory. Neither Elaine nor Cory have talked to Mark since they received the devastating news about Dylan.

“He murdered his son,” said Elaine when referring to Mark.
The 14-year-old boy disappeared in November 2012 from his father’s home near Durango.

Dylan, 14, had been missing since Nov. 19, 2012, a day after arriving at his father’s Vallecito home for a court-ordered visit during Thanksgiving break.
The boy was living with his mother and brother, Cory, in the Colorado Springs area.
His father, Mark Redwine, says he last saw Dylan asleep when he left home early to do some errands. He reported the boy missing that afternoon. His partial remains were discovered in June 2013 during a search of Middle Mountain Road.

Elaine and Cory responded to Dr. Phil’s questions about why they believe only partial remains were found.
“I believe that he was moved,” said Elaine.
“I think he went up and recollected and tried to get rid of as much evidence as he could,” said Cory.
Middle Mountain is located north and within sight of Vallecito Lake, near Dylan’s father’s house. The search area ranged from 8,000 to 11,000 feet altitude and consists of deep canyons and dense forest.
Mark joined the Dr. Phil Show on the phone where he once again denied having anything to do with the disappearance and/or death of his son.
Dr. Phil asked Mark how he felt when he learned how close Dylan’s remains were found so close to home.

“It was a shock to me. I certainly didn’t anticipate that his remains were even going to be found anywhere. I know that there was a long time that the search that was being conducted was being conducted around the area of the lake,” said Mark.
When asked why he thought only partial remains were found, Mark replied, “That’s a good question. That’s a question that’s been nagging me since I was sat down and was told my son was now deceased.”

Elaine asked Mark if he would be willing to go with La Plata County Sheriff’s investigators with her to walk through his house to recreate the scene that occurred the night that Dylan disappeared, “That would be very helpful in the investigation.”

Mark replied, “We’ve had every opportunity to get those things done before now and at this point I just don’t see the value in doing it. To be honest with you, I refuse to do that.
“I don’t owe the nation an explanation as to what I’m doing. Dylan is my son!”
“You owe Dylan that explanation!” said Cory.
“I’ve done everything that I know how to do as a parent to try to be there for him and try to do the right thing. To tell me that I’ve done absolutely nothing is ludicrous,” said Mark.
“Where were you Nov. 18? When he went missing? Where were you? Where have you been this whole time?” asked Elaine.

The La Plata County Sheriff’s Office released a statement regarding the investigation into Dylan Redwine’s death: “This is an active investigation and we will not make any further comments, except that we will continue our investigation efforts until there is a resolution for Dylan.”

Elaine, Cory and Mark appeared on Dr. Phil before Dylan’s remains were found, in a desperate attempt to try to find the boy. The show became less about Dylan and more about a venue for his parents to express their disdain for one another.

“I will risk my own life before I ever stop fighting for justice for Dylan,” said Elaine.

So much seems off with that statement but I don’t know where to start…

This comment…...

MARK “I certainly didn’t anticipate that his remains were even going to be found anywhere”

Sounds more like he was “shocked” they actually found the remains. As if he was sure that he put them someplace he didn’t expect them to be found or maybe figured animals would destroy the last bit of his body.

Then with regards to doing a walk through… “To be honest with you, I refuse to do that”. So the comment to be honest, Peter has said it means that he has likely not been honest in the past but now is. He refuses to do that.

Who would ever refuse to do something so simple. I would never refuse. In fact, I would be doing it myself. I would go over ever detail over and over. I would relive it hoping I would find a clue. Anything… To find who hurt my son.

And this comment…..

MARK “I don’t owe the nation an explanation as to what I’m doing. Dylan is my son!”

Um Mark… Doing a walk through with LE would not be explaining to the nation. And they are not talking about what you are doing, but what happened that night. So much about that bugs me.

Also, I noted the word “nagging”. I think Dylan nagging him to be with his friends….

A permanent plaque has been unveiled to honor Michael Brown, the black 18-year-old who was shot dead by a police officer in Ferguson last August.

The steel and gold plate will be drilled into the road on Canfield Drive where Brown was shot, replacing a makeshift memorial of flowers and toys, which had become a safety hazard.

It features an engraving of the teenager in his graduation mortar board, with a message that his family 'would like the memory of Michael Brown to be a happy one.'

The plaque was unveiled by Michael Brown Sr on Wednesday, which would have been his son's 19th birthday.

'There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about my son,' Brown said.

'We're just really trying to move forward,' he added. 'It just needs to be moved.'

Mayor James Knowles III addressed the small crowd gathered in the street, explaining that the tarmac around the plaque, and a gold dove, will be resurfaced.

Brown was killed by white officer Darren Wilson on August 9, touching off protests and a national 'Black Lives Matter' movement.

A St Louis County grand jury and the U.S. Department of Justice declined to prosecute Wilson, who resigned in November.

But a separate Justice Department report found racial profiling among Ferguson officers and a municipal court system driven by profit.

Release of the report in March led to the resignation of Ferguson's city manager, municipal court judge and police chief.

The comments are scathing.
No mention is made in the story about him having robbed a store and then attacked an officer.

A third man, John Dylan Adams, has been charged with murder in connection with the 2011 disappearance of a nursing student in Tennessee, prosecutors said on Wednesday.

John Dylan Adams, his brother Zachary Rye Adams, and Jason Wayne Autry have all been indicted on charges of premeditated first-degree murder, kidnapping and rape in the death of 20-year-old Holly Bobo, the Shelby County District Attorney's Office said.

Zachary Adams and Autry had been charged previously with murder and kidnapping in the case.

Special prosecutor Jennifer Nichols issued a statement to WKRN on the charges.

The statement said: 'Each have [sic] been indicted of the following charges in this investigation: First degree murder in the perpetration of a felony, especially aggravated kidnapping, first degree murder in the perpetration of a felony, to wit: aggravated rape and premeditated first degree murder.'

NBC News reported the three men pleaded not guilty.

John Adams is Zachary Adams' younger brother, WKRN reported.

According to WSMV, John Adams was previously charged with tampering with evidence and rape.

Bobo, a cousin of country music singer Whitney Duncan, was last seen in the driveway of her rural Tennessee home in April 2011.

Her brother told investigators he saw a man he mistook for her boyfriend lead her away from the family home in Darden, about 90 miles (145 km) southwest of Nashville.

Her partial remains were found last September, more than three years after she disappeared.

A human skull was discovered by two men searching for ginseng in woods nearby and she was identified through dental records, officials said.

Two Tennessee brothers, Mark and Jeffrey Pearcy, have also been charged with tampering with evidence and as accessories after the fact in connection to the case, officials said.

Bobo's memorial service took place in April 2015, according to WKRN.

The television station reported that after a recording of Bobo singing was played at the April 12 service, Pastor Don Franks said 'To hear Holly sing again at Corinth Baptist Church brought emotions of sadness, at the same time knowing that she is with the Lord, there is an ode of gladness in my heart because we have not lost our Holly.

'We know by faith where she has gone and we know one day we will see Holly again.'
