Missing: Crystal Rogers. Boyfriend, Brooks Houck Statement

Crystal Rogers is a mother of five and has been missing since the Fourth of July.

Her boyfriend was on the Nancy Grace Show to deny involvement.

“All of my efforts in searching for her have been done behind the scenes with the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office."

“I’ve been 100% completely honest with everyone. I’ve been 100% cooperative in everything that that has been asked of me. I’ve not asked for any kind of legal advice or assistance, an attorney of any nature. I’m 100% completely innocent in this and I have exhausted my efforts with the law enforcement agencies to gather all the facts necessary to allow me to have a clean name again,”

There are things to note here.

1.  The word "with" between people (departments are made up of people) indicate distance. What causes the distance, however, is not always known, nor nefarious.  It could be geographical, or strategic.

2.  "100% completely honest" is to take "honesty" and make it sensitive.

a.  His "honesty" is made sensitive by the word "completely";
b.  His "complete honesty" is then made sensitive, itself, by the addition of "100%"

What makes "honesty" so sensitive?

It could be because he is deceptive, but it also could be because he knows he is not being believed.  This could cause someone's sensitive reaction.  Have the police indicated to him that they do not believe him?

3.  His "cooperation" is also sensitive, with "100%" sensitivity.

4.  His "innocence" is sensitive, but not like his "cooperation" but like his "honesty."

Please note that he is:

"100% completely honest" and
"100% completely innocent" but only
"100% cooperative", which is different than honesty and innocence.

What caused the reduction?

In context, he answers the question:  "I am 100% cooperative in everything that has been asked of me."

This is to avoid his pattern of "100% completely cooperative" or to say:

His cooperation has been limited to what they have asked of him, yet he has things he knows they have not asked of him.

This is still not to say he "did it" but that there are things he may be waiting to be asked about.

5.  Note his goal is not to find her, but to "clean" his name:

I have exhausted my efforts with the law enforcement agencies to gather all the facts necessary to allow me to have a clean name again,”

Next: Statement Analysis of the transcripts of the show.  Will they explain why sensitivity is added to his "innocence", "honesty" and "cooperation"?

Or, will motive arise?

"Evidently they've maybe gotten a lead, maybe they have gone back to the farm with a warrant to search that farm and hopefully they will turn up something there," Houck said.

After the press conference, Rogers’ family members told the media they believed foul play was involved in her disappearance, and pointed to her common-law husband as being a possible suspect.
“I don’t agree that it wasn’t foul play,” Crystal’s mother, Sherry Ballard, told the media outside the police department. “She wouldn’t have just left and not called anybody, that’s not her. And she would not have left her baby at home.”
Family members said Rogers and Houck have a 2-year-old child together, and they called Rogers’ relationship with Houck “troubled” at times. Several family members said Rogers told them that if she ever turned up missing to look at Houck as a possible suspect.
Sherry Ballard said she reported Rogers missing Sunday after she spoke to Houck, who did not accompany her to file the report.
Houck did not attend the press conference, but told Mattingly he wanted to. “He was willing to come but I did not want to have any controversy in this office,” he said.
Rogers’ grandmother, Cil Bryan, and other family members said they feared the worst for her granddaughter.
“I love her more than anything,” Bryan said. “She was just a sweetheart.”

Though the grandmother references past tense, I believe she is convinced of the worst possible scenario and not involved with Crystal's disappearance.

Nelson County Sheriff Ed Mattingly said there were no obvious signs of foul play near the car. What makes this case even tougher is the fact Rogers is the niece of a Nelson County deputy and Bardstown Police Captain Tom Roby.

“I want everybody to know that he has been completely corporative with our investigation and has tried to assist us in any way that he can,” Mattingly said of Houck. (this tactic has become a common denominator with all missing person cases)

This one is telling...
"The sheriff said there is no reason to suspect foul play other than the circumstances surrounding her disappearance."

Rogers’ mother, Sherry Ballard, said Monday Houck has “Eli” in his custody.

“He’s with his daddy, and his daddy won’t let me see him,” she said.

Little Eli is of an age where he can provide information as to what happened with mommy. He doesn't want her family members to question the child.

Crystal's FB cover photo folder shows the boyfriend recently ran for sheriff.  The transcript Peter's working on is interesting...

Crystal's mother knows that her daughter would not just take off and leave her children. She fears the worst.

I hope that this case isn't another domestic violence incident where the woman dies, so the boyfriend can have complete control.

NELSON COUNTY SHERIFF. A three-way primary race between Ed Mattingly, Brooks Houck and Kenny Downs will determine which candidate will go on to face Republican J.T. “Thomas” Fulkerson in the Nov. 4, 2014 election.

This is a great example of the way Houck normally speaks. It provides his detailed background and history.

Sorry for the serial posting.

OT Update.

BREAKING: Matthew Graham on the loose, armed and dangerous

REDDING, Calif. -
Matthew Graham, the father of 6-month-old Ember Graham who was reported missing nine days ago is missing and described as armed and dangerous by the Shasta County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies believe Graham is somewhere in the downtown Redding area close to Caldwell Park and Benton Drive or by the river trail. Anyone living in the area is advised to lock their houses and cars.

Sheriff Tom Bosenko said in a press conference Saturday night, search and rescue teams found a pacifier on the side of the highway on Friday in the Ono area. The pacifier was similar to a pacifier that belonged to Ember Graham. Deputies alerted Graham's mother, Sheila, and Ember's mother, Jamie, to tell them about the new evidence.

According to deputies, Graham is supposed to report to a probation officer seven days a week. He at one point had an ankle monitor, but the court ordered it be removed. He did not report to his probation officer on Saturday.

Around 1:15 p.m., deputies received word from Sheila Graham that Matthew was missing. She also reported a semi-automatic missing and that money and a cell phone were stolen out of her purse.

"The court's decision to remove Graham's ankle monitor was a mistake," said Sheriff Tom Bosenko. "And now the public is in danger."

Boskeno said anyone who sees Graham should not approach him because he is armed but should instead call 9-1-1 immediately.

OT:

Peter,

Here is a snippet (the article is very long) from a sexual assault case involving Karen Ward who said she was assaulted by a now disgraced comedian in the uk, for which, was upheld in the high court.

Groper Starr and the truth at last: When she blew the lid on her abuse by Freddie Starr, the comedian called her a liar. Now, after a devastating libel case, Karin Ward's story has been emphatically proven by a judge - but at what appalling cost?

Groper Starr and the truth at last: When she blew the lid on her abuse by Freddie Starr, the comedian called her a liar. Now, after a devastating libel case, Karin Ward's story has been emphatically proven by a judge - but at what appalling cost?
High Court said Karin Ward wasn't guilty of libelling Freddie Starr on Friday
Claimed that he assaulted her behind the scenes of Jimmy Savile's show
Shoved his hand up her skirt to grope her then called her 'a titless wonder'
She is now considering legal action and he may face action from the CPS

The reason for this OT is the "sensory language" that Karin Ward uses, which you have pointed out in sexual assaults entering the language of the abused. I also noted the repetition of "Stepfather" making it very sensitive to her.

On the night in question, the teenager wanted Starr's signature. But she was repulsed by his odour when he came close to her. Starr, she recalls, stank horribly of alcohol, halitosis, cologne and sweat.

'It reminded me of my stepfather, who had sexually abused me from the age of four,' she says. 'He came up behind me and thrust his hand up my skirt. It wasn't a bottom pinch or a slap. It was known back then as a 'goose', when a man would put his hand under a girl's buttocks and give it a squeeze and usually say 'goose' and, at the same time, reach for her breasts and say 'honk honk'. It was supposed to be funny.
'He got as far as the 'goose' and I recoiled because, while I expected that kind of behaviour from all men and was used to it, the smell reminded me of what my stepfather used to force me to do when he crept into my bedroom at night.

Good grief.

Wonder what he was wearing an ankle bracelet for? It must have been something bad if he had to report to a parole officer every day

OT Update:

UPDATE: Graham spotted in Shasta Lake

REDDING, California - UPDATE: 4:55 P.M.

Sarah Robinson, 35, said she first noticed a man walking fast and fiddling with cigarettes. He almost ran into her, within an arm's reach.

He stepped back and then quickly walked in to the bushes

She thought he looked like Matthew Graham, 23, who is being sought in a manhunt after he allegedly stole his mother's gun and cash.

She almost asked him if he was Graham, but thought better of it. Instead, she went into her nearby home and looked up his photo. Then, she realized who he was, she said.

"That was him," she said.

Graham had just come from the Foot Mart store at the Shell Gas Station on the corner of Cascade and Shasta Dam boulevards.

There, he had used his ID, with his full name, to buy a pack of Camel Blue Crush and two Powerades, staff member Kayla said. As soon as he left, they called the authorities.

Robinson said he was wearing a camo hat, dark sun glasses that covered his eyes, an olive shirt, camo pants and a green and black backpack.

She believes he was staying at a homeless encampment near her home.

RE: CRYSTAL ROGERS
I have just found your blog and have been reading everything. I am amazed. It is fascinating to me how people want to be convincing but do not consummate what they need to say to do so. Mr. Houck said he is 100% completely innocent "in this". He never said what this was. I would expect him to say he has exhausted every effort to eliminate himself as a suspect so law enforcement can find his wife. He does want a clean name but doesn't say he wants to find his wife. Why is it seemingly impossible for a person to compel themselves to say what is expected?

What a marvelous way of putting it!
