Madeleine McCann: Live Chat Q & A Friday, December 2, 2016

On Friday, December 2, at 12PM Eastern Time (NY Time), we will host a Q & A Discussion on the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

**Space may be limited so please reply in the comments section if you plan to attend.  If you use "Anonymous", please add a nickname to your post.

This will be by invitation to "Go To Meeting" and will allow for  both Question and Answers about:

Analysis of the case;

Statement Analysis principles and training opportunities.

Also see:

"Wise As a Serpent; Gentle As a Dove"  for more learning about Statement Analysis and how it is used in cases.

New Meeting
Fri, Dec 2, 2016 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM EST
Please join our meeting from your computer, tablet or smartphone.

https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/302877197
You can also dial in using your phone.
United States +1 (872) 240-3412

Access Code: 302-877-197

Submission of questions and comments is done in writing, and using a headset for the audio is quite helpful for quiet listening.

A display screen will be up of various statements made by the family including transcripts of interviews.

This is also an opportunity for those who disagree with the analysis to question or counter any point made, while also allowing for reasoning of what went into the analysis.

When the McCanns spoke publicly, it is presupposed that the audience will either believe them, or not, with some undecided.

With Statement Analysis, we are able to give an opinion and state the reasons why we believe or disbelieve them.

Because this form of analysis is a scientific exercise, if an error is made, the error is able to be traced and corrected; as the same data inputed should produce the same results.  Whether the work is done here in the United States, or on the other side of the world, the even application of principle should produce the same results anywhere in the world.

Statement Analysis should always be subjected to healthy scientific scrutiny and stand upon its own merit.

The principles applied to cases remain the same:  Where one intends communication, analysis can and should be done.

Where one intends to deceive, analysis can highlight this.

The live discussion will be approximately 2 hours in length and should allow for the various view points and challenges to be made.

Peter, Thank you for working for justice on this case.
Also, if what the Scottish guy who you did analysis for on the videos said is true about that lady overhearing Jerry and his friend talking about molesting Madeleine is true (and also I observed Jerry smirking when an interviewer asks whether they think Madeleine could still be alive) I hope he someday is executed by firing squad. He deserves a bullet to the head if he molested her nevermind that severely. She was a toddler.

Hi Anon.
He is not Scottish , his accent is what is known as Geordie. It is spoken in Newcastle and tends to be very glottal and for the stronger accents almost impossible to understand.

I worked with a Geordie grad and i had to get his girlfriend to translate what he said his accent was so strong.

Also Madeleine's left iris seems to have darker pigmentation that the right iris with the line through it as well as her left pupil is more dilated than her right pupil. So we're looking at a situation where the left eye pupil is probably underdilating combined with a black line through that same eye's retina. Madeleine also appears very pale. Im wondering if she had some kind of eye or brain cancer. Her eyes do not appear normal.
Mom and Dad are both doctors....did the know Madeleine was sick and want nothing to do with the hospital visits and treatments she would need or not want other doctors seeing her and observing abuse signs?

Anonymous said...

I also noticed she tripped when walking up the walkway to the plane. Did she have a vision problem also?

John Mc Gowan said...

The mccanns were insistent that the photo of Madeleine released to the press, was one that highlighted the stigma in Madeleine's eye. This was against LE's recommendation not to, be it may, put her in danger of being disfigured (eye) so noone would recognise her. Yet, the mccanns being whom they are (insert expletive) completely disregarded their advise. They (mccanns) knew she wouldn't be, because she wasn't with anyone for that to happen.

I think it's pretty plain and simple... when you help a man kill his wife, there's gotta be a lot of guilt that goes a long with that. He helped Davey and now he lives with the guilt that he tries to drink away every day. Simple.

John McGowan that is very interesting information about the advice the McCAnn's were given about not making the stigma in her eye visible on missing person flyers in case her "kidnapper" tried to disfigure her eye. I did not know that and I did not realize the McCann's had (obviously) ignored the advice.

On a somewhat related note, Madeleine does look very unhealthy. Her skin tone has undertones of yellow and gray that you don't normally ever see with a child. Her skin looks waxy or something?? The mother to me has a weird unhealthy look too so maybe it is genetic, however, it is odd she has yellow undertones in her skin almost like cirrhosis of liver?

Anonymous said...

Her nose looks quite yellow (?)

She certainly has a very fearful, haunted look on her face.

Peter, I am presently watching the Madeleine McCann documentary done by Richard Hall. You and others may want to have a look at the language Dr. David Payne uses while being "interrogated" by police a year after the disappearance about what he did the day Madeleine disappeared as well as his claim that he had seen Maddie alive early that evening.

At 58:30, (the words are printed on the screen) he describes "popping" in on Kate and describes seeing the kids in their pyjamas and uses terms often used by pedophiles to describe children such as "immaculate" and saying "they looked like angels". These idealistic terms are common ways that pedophiles describe children. I find it extremely alarming considering the info that Richard Hall shared about what a woman claims she hear Payne say to Jerry regarding molesting Madeleine and which revealed both he and Jerry are pedophiles. Pedophiles often seek each other out. I have a disturbing suspicion that Payne and Jerry both killed her and I do not think it was accidental.

Katrina said...

Yeah that guy is guilty as hell and so is Jerry.

P.J. Police Files: Kate McCann's statement 4 May 2007
http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/KATE-MCCANN.htm

The routines

The day after their arrival, they went for breakfast at around 7.30/8.30 at the Ocean Club, in a bar situated some distance from the apartment. On the following days, because the bar was quite far away, they started buying supplies from the "BAPTISTE" supermarket, located on the same road as the apartment and they had their first meal of the day in the apartment.

After breakfast, at around 9/9.30am, the children went to the club called the "KIDS CLUB" where they did various activities such as painting, collage etc. They stayed there until around 12.30pm, constantly supervised by several Ocean Club employees in a ratio of three children to one employee. Within the "Kids Club" because of the difference in ages, the twins were in one group and Madeleine in another, with separate activities.

At 12.30pm, the parents would collect their children and have lunch in their apartment since they have provisions. After lunch, at around 1.30pm, the children spend time close to the club's swimming pool, supervised by the parents, for about 45 minutes, where they play and have sun cream applied. After this time, they take the children to the "Kids Club" until around 5/5.30pm, the time when the children eat in a bar under the watchful gaze of the parents. After the 5pm dinner, they give the children a bath, prepare them for the night and let them play for a while in a playground next to the tennis courts, still and always under parental supervision. At around 8pm, the children are put to bed until the following morning when the described routines start all over again. While the children are at the "Kids Club," the interviewee played tennis with her husband, went for walks, read or went "Jogging."

_____________

I know I sound judgemental when I say this, but playing in the playground is out of order. What parent takes their kids to the playground *after* their bath/before the are put to bed? Who gets the kids all fired up, playing in the sand, swinging, sliding, running, after their bath when they are in relax mode before bedtime?

I wonder if these kids had a nanny. It sounds like, outside of the Kids Club, the kids weren't structured while in the company of their parents. This is just my impression, but it sounds like they had a hard time hitting the pin for breakfast. Could it be between the consumption of alcohol and the kids being possibly medicated, they all had a hard time getting going so the kids were allowed to 'graze' on fruit, etc., while the parents slowly rousted? It could answer the parents' account of Madeleine asking why nobody came when they were crying/Peter's reference to "parentification":

She reports only one episode where, on the morning of Thursday May 3rd, Madeleine asked the interviewee why she had not come to look in the bedroom when the twins were crying. The interviewee states that she had heard nothing and had therefore not gone into the bedroom. She thought her daughter's comment strange because it was the first time she had talked about it.

Reference Peter's analysis about Madeline falling, if it is true, that the kids were allowed to play in the playground before bedtime, I wonder about the proximity of it to their room and if indeed there were closely supervised, hence a fall from, i.e., the ladder of a slide or monkey bars?

delightful quotes about Maddie.

on the find Madeleine website on the page About Madeleine

What the original FindMadeleine site told us about Madeleine McCann
About Madeleine McCann

Madeleine McCann was born 4 years ago. She has one brother Sean and a sister Amelie. She lives with her family in Rothley, Leicestershire.

Her father comes from Glasgow and has 3 sisters, Patricia, Jacqueline and Phil, and a brother John. Madeleine's Grandmother, Eileen lives in Glasgow. Her other grandparents, Sue and Brian live in Liverpool.

Both sides of the family are very close and all are working in different ways to try and help in the search for Madeleine.

Phil, who resides in Ullapool and is a teacher, has asked that the heartfelt thanks of the whole family be passed to everyone who has helped in the search so far. She said: "There have been so many messages of support and prayers from people all over the world. We (the family) are overwhelmed with your assistance. The media people have been wonderful and so helpful in making everyone aware of our plight. Madeleine's family are so grateful to you all. Please keep Madeleine in your thoughts and prayers. We pray that she will be returned to us safe and well."

You will note that although the page is titled about Madeleine she warranted only 7 words out of 181.

This disparity was noticed and unfavorably commented on by the public.
This prompted an update

What the new Find Madeleine site tells us about Madeleine McCann, 01/02/08
About Madeleine

Madeleine was born in May 2003 – a long-awaited and very much longed for little girl. She lives in the village of Rothley in Leicester, with her mummy and daddy and little brother and sister, Sean and Amelie.

Madeleine is a very happy little girl with an outgoing personality. She has always been a very popular little person, appealing to both children and adults alike with her funny and engaging chatter. She has many friends who obviously miss her dearly. Despite her young age, it often felt like Madeleine had been on this earth before!

Like most girls her age, she likes dolls and dresses (and anything pink and sparkly) but with a definite taste for action-adventure too! She has an incredible amount of energy and even as a little baby, didn’t seem to need much rest. She enjoys running and swimming and is an Everton fan like her mum and granddad.

Madeleine has always been a wonderfully loving and caring big sister to Sean and Amelie. It was certainly not the quietest house on the planet with lots of giggling, singing and the inevitable odd bit of mischief! For Sean and Amelie, there is without doubt, a very important person missing in their life.

Madeleine is a warm, life-enriching little person and will never fail we’re sure, to bring joy into the life of anyone she may encounter.

The post was extended to 228 words, all about Maddie however, a bit of leakage?

She has always been a very popular little person
Is she no longer popular?

Madeleine has always been a wonderfully loving and caring big sister to Sean and Amelie.
Is she no longer their wonderful and caring big sister?

Madeleine is a warm, life-enriching little person and will never fail we’re sure, to bring joy into the life of anyone she may encounter.
Does this include the alleged paedophile who has her?

Madeleine is a warm, life-enriching little person

Little person
This is their daughter they are talking about and they refer to her as a person which conceals not only gender but identity as well.
Why the distancing language?

David Payne
describing Maddie

"Mmm..., errr... Madeleine's, errr... a very striking, errr... beautiful child, I'd almost - if I want a better phrase - call her doll-like, you know. She was very, you know, I think, you know, very unique looking child, errr... she'd got very pretty, you know blonde hair, errr... in a bob, she was quite a petite, errr... child and you know she was very bubbly, very, errr... you know, she was a very good child to, to interact with. She was very bright, you could have a lot of fun with Madeleine, errr... and you know she, she was, you know, Kate and Gerry's, you know, pride and joy. They'd had a lot of trouble conceiving, you know, with IVF and everything and, you know, Madeleine was their miracle. She was obviously very unique with the fact that she'd got the, you know, the iris defect, errr... but, you know, she was certainly a happy go lucky child, you know, she was, she would interact with the other children very well, as I said on the other, earlier recording, you know, she played very happily with L*** and you know indeed the other children. She was, you know, very... she is a very beautiful child and good fun."

(..)"You know, I, you know, a fact I've come across already you know she was a... she's a very bright child. you know, she wouldn't be the kind of mischievous child who, you know, and just try and get out of the flat and you know get up to mischief and that, you know, there's fun in all children but she certainly wasn't that kind of child. She was very bright."

Katrina said...

While being "interrogated" 1 year after the disappearance, David Payne says (during one of his rambling, stuttering answers to police)

"It was great when they (McCann's)would leave their door open at night."

This was in response to police trying to nail down whether the sliding door was open or shut and how long Payne had stayed in the McCann's hotel room when he "popped" in on Kate and allegedly saw Maddie alive.

It is a reasonable assumption to make that Payne was molesting Maddie at night, perhaps during the "checks" on the kids.

Katrina said...

Within Payne's statements, the tennis courts are extremely sensitive, as well as Payne is unable to say who Jerry was playing tennis with while Payne himself was present at the tennis courts at certain pivotal points in the narrative.

I believe there is some possibility that Maddie was molested by both Jerry and Payne at the tennis courts, and that she was critically injured at that location and then brought back to the apartment.

It is also important to note that Payne describes seeing the 3 children "dressed in white" "looking immaculate" "looking like angels" (at the McCann's apartment with supposedly only Kate present) during this very pivotal time frame of early evening the night Maddie disappeared.

My hunch is that Payne brought a dying unconscious Maddie back to the apartment after she had been critically injured at the tennis courts.

Katrina said...

Tania, I just read the comment from DAvid Payne that you posted. Wow, so disturbing on so many levels.

It would be very useful to analyze it.

This section of his statement is absolutely bizarre to me:

They'd had a lot of trouble conceiving, you know, with IVF and everything and, you know, Madeleine was their miracle. She was obviously very unique with the fact that she'd got the, you know, the iris defect, errr... but, you know, she was certainly a happy go lucky child, you know, she was, she would interact with the other children very well

"trouble conceiving"

"you know, with IVF and everything"

what is "everything"?

Madeleine was "obviously" unique
She'd got the iris defect

"but she would interact with the other children very well"

Here are my thoughts: Most men would not even notice Maddie's iris "defect" nevermind remember it and have decided that it makes her "obviously unique". This is something a woman would notice. Men do not normally notice nevermind remember small details like a line in a child's iris.

Why does he even know about it? Why is it so important to him?
Is this part of his predatorial view of her that she was a "beautiful" child but that she was "defective" and therefore considered disposable??? Why does he call it "the" iris defect as oppossed to "an" iris defect?

Is there any genetic element to her iris "defect"?

It is bizarre for him to call it a "defect" unless it interfered with her vision (which I don't believe it did). Otherwise, it is just a difference.

Regardless, he is absolutely subtly disparaging her and Peter has pointed out repeatedly that killers will subtly disparage their victims.

In my opinion, it is likely both Jerry and Payne killed Madeleine.

McCann Case: David Payne Statement Analyzed

Was Madeline McCann moved in a bag? David Payne was asked about this.

Taken from David Paynes rogatory statement, answering a question about the 'bag'. He insists Gerry didn't have one.

http://statement-analysis.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/mccann-case-david-payne-statement.html

Katrina said...

Thank you John...I will be interested to read that.

From Payne (tania's post)

"she wouldn't be the kind of mischievous child who, you know, and just try and get out of the flat"

Did Madeleine "try" to get out of the flat and get away from him when he entered the "open door" to molest her during the nightly checks?

Did this make him very angry with her? Murderously angry?

OFF TOPIC:

Keith Papini, husband of the California mom Sherri Papini who went missing for three weeks after allegedly being kidnapped while out for a jog, has issued a statement http://abcnews.go.com/US/gma-exclusive-husband-sherri-papini-speaks-familys-ordeal/story?id=43840659 :

"The first thing I would like to address is the overwhelming amount of gratitude our entire family has for the thousands of people that have been on this torturous journey with us. I cannot possibly name each and every person, although their names are eternally etched in our hearts. Thank you to our strong family, devoted friends, the entire Redding community, and countless communities around the world. Specific thanks to the Shasta County Sheriff”s department, FBI, NorCal Alliance for the Missing, The Lost Coast Trackers, Shasta Support Services, The Guardian Angels, my own personal A-Team, Cameron Gamble, Cody Salfen, Jim Linnan, Sean Ditty, Don Armstrong, Yolo County Sheriff's department and hospital, the medical personnel that helped our dear Sherri, social media, and many news outlets. Thank you to LRT Graphics and Signarama. Thank you to the extremely generous, anonymous as well as named donors all over the world whom selflessly gave to our family. Thank you to the many incredible humans that have never known Sherri that facilitated in sharing our heart break across the globe. Sherri has always captured my heart and it is no surprise that she has captured the hearts not only through the country, but throughout the world. Thank you, truly, immensely, sincerely, and with my entire heart.

Secondly, we live in a nation of free speech, accompanied with an era of technology that provides immediate gratification. This is a double edged sword. I am grateful for this system as it is what spread my wife's face quickly throughout the world, gaining the attention of thousands. The unfortunate side is that some people have been sitting in angering, expectant, positions waiting for the gory details.

Rumors, assumptions, lies, and hate have been both exhausting and disgusting. Those people should be ashamed of their malicious, sub human behavior. We are not going to allow those people to take away our spirit, love, or rejoice in our girl found alive and home where she belongs. I understand people want the story, pictures, proof that this was not some sort of hoax, plan to gain money, or some fabricated race war. I do not see a purpose in addressing each preposterous lie. Instead, may I give you a glimpse of the mixture of horror and elation that was my experience of reuniting with the love of my life and mother of our children.

OFF TOPIC: Keith Papini statement PART TWO

Nothing could have prepared me for what I was about to see upon my arrival at the hospital, nor the details of the true hell I was about to hear. The mental prison I was in over the past three weeks was shattered when my questions of my wife's reality became known.

The officers warned me to brace myself. My first sight was my wife in a hospital bed, her face covered in bruises ranging from yellow to black because of repeated beatings, the bridge of her nose broken.

Her now emaciated body of 87 pounds was covered in multi colored bruises, severe burns, red rashes, and chain markings. Her signature long, blonde hair had been chopped off. She has been branded and I could feel the rise of her scabs under my fingers. She was thrown from a vehicle with a chain around her waist, attached to her wrists and a bag over her head. The same bag she used to flag someone down once she was able to free one of her hands. Sherri was taken from us for 22 days, and suffered incredibly through both intense physical agony and severe mental torture. My reaction was one of extreme happiness and overwhelming nausea as my eyes and hands scanned her body. I was filled with so much relief and revulsion at once. My Sherri suffered tremendously and all the visions swirling in your heads of her appearance, I assure you, are not as graphic and gruesome as the reality.

We are a very private family whom do not use social media outlets prior to this grotesque tragedy. My love for my wife took precedents and it was clear we had to be exposed in ways we never would have been comfortable with. So please have a heart and understand why we have asked for our privacy. This will be along road of healing for everyone. Ultimately, it was Sherri's will to survive that brought her home. Thank you."

Gerry McCann 2/3:
http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/GERRY-MCCANN-10MAY.htm

After they passed through the secondary reception they went to the TAPAS restaurant, next to one of the swimming pools, the adults being seated in a covered area outside while the children stayed next to the small pool playing on the [playground]apparatus that was there. That during this time all the adults stood and went to watch the children near where they were. The deponent and his wife alternated in that vigil.

On Wednesday night, 2 May 2007, ... Still on this night, KATE slept in the children's bedroom, in the bed next to the window, because he was snoring. ...----- He cannot say exactly, but he thinks that on Monday or Tuesday MADELEINE had slept for some time in his bedroom with KATE as she [K] had told him that one or both twins had cried making much noise.

The day MADELEINE disappeared, Thursday, 3 May 2007, they all woke up at the same time between 07H30 and 08H00. While they were taking breakfast MADELEINE addressed the mother and asked her ?why didn't you come last night when S*** and I were crying??. That he thought this comment very strange given that MADELEINE had never had this kind of talk [had never spoken like this] and, the night before, they had maintained the same system of checking on the children, not having detected anything abnormal. When he questioned her about the comment, she left [withdrew herself] without any explanation.
...
During the afternoon of that day the rest of the group members, including the children, were at the beach, [they] having returned at 18H30, the time at which he saw DP next to the tennis court. DAVID went to visit KATE and the children and returned close to 19H00, trying to convince the deponent to continue to play tennis, to which [entreaty] he did not accede as he had already been plying for about an hour and had to go back to to his wife. Nevertheless, RUSSELL, DAVID and MATHEW stayed to play.
----- At 19H00, he made his way to the apartment, finding KATE and the children playing on the sofa. About 10 to 15 minutes later, they took the children to the bedroom and they all sat on MADELEINE'S bed to read a story. At 19H30, the twins were already in their respective cots and MADELEINE in the bed next to the bedroom door. He does not know if they were asleep but from the silence he presumed that they were. As it was still early he took a bath, he thinks that KATE had already had one, they talked a little and drank wine or beer.

Asked, he stated that besides her own apartment MADELEINE only went to the apartment of DP and FP, since it was common that they frequented each others' apartments.

Nic said...

MADELEINE addressed the mother and asked her ?why didn't you come last night when S*** and I were crying??. That he thought this comment very strange given that MADELEINE had never had this kind of talk [had never spoken like this] and, the night before, they had maintained the same system of checking on the children, not having detected anything abnormal. When he questioned her about the comment, she left [withdrew herself] without any explanation.

Speculation: Does anyone else think Kate was having an affair? Not necessarily with DP (maybe?) but I'm wondering if it's possible if Kate had a visitor while GM was playing tennis, and she sent "eyes and ears" to watch dad play tennis (courts in close proximity to their room,) and she diverted herself to the playground, instead, and had a fall off of the "apparatus".

Gerry McCann 3/3:

-- When questioned, he states that none of his children takes any kind of medication regularly in England.
--- When they travelled on holiday to Portugal they brought several medicines, namely Calpol, Nurofen, for fevers and pains, both for adults and children, Losec forgastric problems that he occasionally suffers from, and an anti-histamine called Terfenadine for hay fever. He did not give any of these medicines or any others to the children while on holiday in Portugal.

When questioned if the twins woke while the apartment was being searched, he replies negatively. When they were taken to another apartment he does not know if they woke as he did not take them. When asked, he says that this was not normal, and can find no reason for it happening. He still thought at this moment that the twins might have been drugged by the possible abductor, even if he only mentioned this to the Police several days later.

Kate McCann, 06/09/07 :

During the meal Kate asked Madeleine if she was sad because the other children in the group had gone to the beach without her: she replied that she wasn't, but was rather tired. She asked Kate to carry her back to the apartment. Kate agreed, and Gerry led the twins back to the apartment. Tiredness was due to the intense daily activities, not to any sickness.

They arrived at the apartment around 5:40PM, earlier than usual, because Madeleine was tired, their other friends were at the beach and Gerry had an all-male tennis game at 6:00PM. At the flat they both bathed the children, and close to 6:00PM Gerry went to the tennis courts, soon after the children had finished their bath

After the children's bath, already alone, she put pyjamas and nappies on the twins, gave them each a glass of milk and biscuits. Before bathing the children and because it was early, they had thought of taking them to the recreation area, but then decided against this because of tiredness.

While the children were eating and looking at some books, Kate had a shower which lasted around 5 minutes. After showering, at around 6:30/6:40PM and while she was getting dry, she heard somebody knocking at the veranda door. She wrapped herself in a towel and went to see who it was. This door was closed but not locked as Gerry had left by this door. She confirmed it was David Payne, because he called out and had opened the door slightly. David's visit was to help her to take the children to the recreation area. When David returned from the beach he was with Gerry at the tennis courts, and it was Gerry who asked him to help Kate with taking the children to the recreation area, which had been arranged but did not take place. David was at the apartment for around 30 seconds, he didn't actually enter the flat, he remained at the veranda door. According to her he then left for the tennis courts where Gerry was. The time was around 6:30-6:40PM.
_____________

So Madeleine was the one who was tired? Uh-huh. She had to be carried back to the apartment because she was "tired"; this when she was always made to walk while the twins were carried. Thirty second visit? Right. Gerry asked David to help Kate take the kids to the recreation area? That's not what Gerry said. The recreation area is a sensitive place. Would Miss Madeleine have taken the initiative to go there on her own if Kate had taken her eyes off of Madeleine for "30 seconds"?

I have so many questions after having read just a handful of interviews.

Peter, responding to 2:48 comment about Sherri Papini case. His speech strikes me as very strange:

Sherri has always captured my heart ... rejoice in "our girl" found alive (emphasis added)

some people have been sitting in angering, expectant positions waiting for the gory details

The mental prison I was in over the past three weeks was shattered when my questions of my wife's reality became known.-- what does this even mean? This is told from his experience, not hers. Her suffering gets secondary treatment.

placement- addressing rumors before getting to what happened to his wife

I'm not entirely sure what/why I'm asking but some of the statement seems artificial- "her signature long blond hair..." is he writing a novel?

The passivity- Sherri was taken

He expresses anger about the rumors but not the kidnappers and no call for justice

There is something I can't quite put my finger on that makes it seem "off."

Katrina said...

@Nic,

If Madeleine had to be carried, it could have been due to an injury and not specifically due to tiredness.
I believe Payne leaks the manner of death in his words during one section of the interrogation.
I believe both he and Jerry were molesting her but I believe Payne killed her.
I think Jerry became murderously angry when Madeleine attempted to "try" to leave the flat to get away from him and killed her probably the next day/evening.

Also, I do think Kate was having an affair with Payne, but I believe he sought out this affair to get further access to Madeleine and have dirt to hold over Kate's head and keep her quiet.

Nic said...

Katrina,

I was thinking Madeleine had to be carried because she was having a temper tantrum and didn't want to go back to the room (very early) for the night, that she wanted to go to the playground where everyone congregated after the kids had dinner together/before they went to their respective rooms for the night.

I think Kate had a date, her energy level drove the agenda ("the" excuse being tired/tiredsome); Gerry had a tennis appointment to get to at 6:00.

After David left, Kate dressed and sat with the children, Madeleine on her lap. She was wearing a top, she doesn't remember what colour it was, a green long-sleeved t-shirt, blue denim pants. Trainers (tennis shoes) and white socks.

She read a story to the children in the living room, on the sofa in front of the door to the veranda, identified on the diagram with the letter D. At 7:00 PM Gerry arrived and entered via the veranda door. He sat on the sofa identified with letter E. Doesn't know if the story was finished, but thinks she was sitting on the sofa.

[...]

After Gerry arrived the children went to wash their teeth and she then read them another story, this time all four of them sitting on Madeleine's bed. She thinks that Gerry entered the room, but does not recall him sitting on the bed. During the story Madeleine was lying on the pillow, alert and paying attention to the story. After both twins kissed Madeleine, she thinks that Gerry was in the room, and each (Kate and Gerry) placed a twin in its crib at the same time, between Madeleine's bed and the bed next to the window. They also kissed Madeleine, who was lying down. She was under the covers, she thinks because she was a bit cold. She normally clutched the soft toy and if she wasn't holding it then it was next to her, on the left. She remained lying down on her left side, with the soft toy and a pink blanket, to cover her. The twins were laid down on their backs, covered with open weave blankets. She says that she doesn't know if the children were in the same positions when they left the apartment.

It was around 7:15PM when they put the children to bed and checked they were sleeping, she says she is sure of this.
____________

NTP -- Madeline was "alert" and "paying attention to the story.

Laying is repeated.

She was cold and under the covers.

Everyone kissed Madeline, but Madeline did not kiss her siblings goodnight *or* her parents.

Nic, Madeleine's bed was neatly made and there was no sign Madeleine had been in the bed or even on top of the bed or had had the covers over her. Look at the police photos from the crime scene. The appearance of the neatly made bed negates the story that Madeleine was ever in or even on that bed that evening. I believe she was already dead during that time frame, or at least dying.

Katrina said...

I believe Madeleine was attacked by Payne at the tennis courts will Jerry an approving onlooker/participant. I believe she was critically wounded and that she was given a very potent painkiller/sedative in order to disguise to others how much pain she was in (to hide the attack from other people).

I have only watched the first hour but it is very well done. I will post link in post below.

Peter, it's Anonymous again with more thought on Papini after thinking and rereading. Look at the juxtaposition of his words in this fragment !

Sherri was taken from us for 22 days, and suffered incredibly through both intense physical agony and severe mental torture. My reaction was one of extreme happiness ...

HUH? Yes we are to think he means happiness about her being found but that is not what he said.

Another point I wasn't clear on before about what was bugging me. Part of it is he objectifies her. Calling her "our girl." Focusing on how she looked.

"I was filled with so much relief and revulsion at once. My Sherri suffered tremendously and all the visions swirling in your heads of her appearance, I assure you, are not as graphic and gruesome as the reality. "

This is a woman who was beaten in the face and head, branded, chained, hair chopped off and nothing about the pain she feels or the fear or anything else about her as a person? Nope, looks and his feelings.

Also this:

"We are a very private family whom do not use social media outlets prior to this grotesque tragedy.

My love for my wife took precedents and it was clear we had to be exposed in ways we never would have been comfortable with. " What do you make of the language choice "it was clear we had to be exposed"?

One more issue for the Papini case.

"This will be a long road of healing for everyone."

Really? One person, Sherri, was harmed. No one else needs to heal. With the focus on making sure the public knows how gruesome she looked, that her "signature" hair was cut off, the objectifying language and the reference to "everyone" healing, does this look like an angry husband set this up to punish his wife?

Katrina said...

@Nic,

Thank you for posting the photo of Madeleine's bed. It is the same picture from the documentary but I was able to view it closer up. I think it is very debatable whether it looks like Madeleine was actually ever in the bed. The covers are neatly turned down just a bit and the rest of the bed looks completely undisturbed. It certainly does not look like someone got out of the bed...how could the covers not have been disturbed further down the length of the bed simply from her getting out of the bed? It does not have the appearance of what a usual bed would look like after a toddler had been under the covers, slept for a bit and then gotten out of the bed. I mean, if i climb under my covers for 5 min and then get out, my bed looks pretty messed up and I make it neatly every day.
Nic, I think it's unlikely she was ever in the bed that night. It looks like someone tried to stage it to look like she was by neatly turning down the covers a bit at the top.

Katrina said...

Nic,

I started reading through some of the statements you posted from Jerry where he is talking about Kate.

I also started reading through an interview with David Payne by police and apparently, he says he organized the trip to Portugal for everyone, and the only oddity (my word) during his organization of the trip was the fact that he had been told that Kate (out of all the guests) really did not like the idea of going on the vacation. He claims apparently that by the time they went that she was fine with the idea. I wonder if she was hesitant out of some kind of mother's instinct to keep Madeleine away from him (Payne).

Katrina said...

Also, Payne, while organizing the vacation, went to considerable lengths to make sure he went through a vacation organization and went to a specific location to make sure that all of the families would be roomed right next to each other. That was very important to him, and he made damn sure of it, it seemed to be the most important priority over everything including what country they went to etc.

I believe it was so he could easily molest Madeleine.

Hobnob, in your blog, you mention : (Kate McCann on Oprah)
"What/why was Madeleine afraid when she hid in the cupboard, her mother discovered her, she said, cowering in the cupboard, Madeleine's mother said Why, do you think, would Maddie be COWERING in the wardrobe?"

So what was Madeleine afraid of, what had she discovered, who had she 'secretly been watching'??

Why would Madeleine cower in the wardrobe ?

What followed after Kate McCann discovered Madeleine cowering in the wardrobe ??

"remember you shaking an imaginary Maddie"

Re: the bedroom photo and Maddie's alleged bed.

It has bugged me since the get go that they claimed Maddie slept in the bed by the door with the perfectly turned down corner of the covers and her pink blanket.
The bed does not look slept in.
However, when you look at the bed under the window, the covers are a mess and the bed looks slept in.
It looks how a bed would look after a toddler has slept in it.

What would cause the mccanns to lie about which bed Maddie slept in?

It concerned me that kate used the word cowering in relation to Maddie hiding in the wardrobe.
To cower means to shrink in fear
What would cause Maddie to shrink in fear given they were allegedly checking every 30 minutes?
If she were cowering in fear from someone, why would she not make her presence known once kate showed up?

Would she cower in fear from her parents, kate?
We know kate had trouble bonding with Maddie as per her book.
We know kate has anger issues given all terms of anger and rage in her interviews and book.
We know kate and gerry and to some extent the extended family all subtly demeaned Maddie.

Kate also spoke of Maddie's "fear of pain".
This is something concerning and unexpected.
No child like to feel pain, what was being done to Maddie that would cause pain?
Pain that was often enough that Maddie was known to have a fear of it.
Was she having some kind of medical treatment that perhaps required an injection?

Then my mind did a lateral leap and i wondered:

What if "fear of pain" was in fact "fear of payne"?

I agree. She wasn't there after she had been injured/died, that's for sure. The cadaver dogs did not hit in the kids' room, but they did in the living room and parents' room. Am I wrong thinking that's a lot of decomposition for such a short period of time, i.e.,mere hours spread over two rooms, considering how much investigation ensued after 10pm Thursday night? "The shortest post-mortem interval for which we received a correct response was one hour and 25 minutes. However, the post-mortem interval for which we received a consistently correct response from all dogs involved is 2.5 - 3 hours." (Google: Cadaver Scent project for the .pdf)

Housecleaning came in twice a week. (Mondays and Wednesdays) and Kate said the schedule was not modified: http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/KATE-MCCANN_ARGUIDO.htm

Speculating: I wonder if housekeeping turned down and readied Madeleine's stuffie/pink blanket for her. I remember when my kids were really young how housekeeping always took care of their stuffies and staged them very sweetly for their return. If I am correct, that may mean that Madeline did not sleep in her bed Wednesday night?

Note, the other bed in the photo is disheveled which would be in keeping with Kate sleeping in the kids' room on the Wednesday night: Mrs McCann volunteered to the PJ that on the night of Wednesday 2nd May 2007, she had slept in the spare bed in her childrens room because her husband had not paid her enough attention over dinner. Or put another way, does she mean the amorous Scot was paying someone else (like Miss Chekeya) too much attention, causing her to stomp out of the Tapas Bar before him: ultimately leading to the spare bed in a strop' Gerald McCann said he thought the reason his wife had slept in the childrens bedroom was because of his snoring and that he did not even bother asking her the following morning what the problem was. http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/DELETED_CALLS.htm

There is a lot of questioning around Madeleine crying for 1.5 on Tuesday night for her dad and one friend (?) remarked that Madeleine was a "screamer". Kate denied that Madeleine cried for 1.5 hours.

http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/DELETED_CALLS.htm
Mrs Fenn, the McCanns neighbour, reported that Madeleine had cried for her father between 22.30 and 23.45. The evidence shows that Kate McCann was in Apartment 5A 14 minutes before Madeleine started crying. Tuesday 1st May 2007 is the only night (except, of course, for Thursday 3rd May 2007) that either of the McCanns or any of their friends made calls after dinner

....

On Monday 30th April 2007, neither of the McCanns telephones activated the Luz transmitters. This looks very odd, especially as they were around the Ocean Club to shuffle the kids to and from the creches. On this afternoon, Madeleine remained in the Creche for only 15 minutes and was picked up by her mother at 15.30. We do not know what Madeleine did for the rest of the day, but it is possible she was being fractious. Interestingly, a friend of Mrs and Mr McCann supposedly told the 'Dispatches' team that made a TV program on the tragedy, that 'Madeleine was a screamer'.

Nic said...

From what I read last night there was a lot of investigation around Tuesday night. There was also a remark/postulation (documented in one of the reports) whether Madeleine was actually at the Kids Club at one point/her sign-in/out was falsified. My observation reading the reports is that the last couple of days the McCann's did their own thing (tennis) but that Kate feigned being upset that everyone went to the beach parents/kids, but did not include Madeleine, who was supposedly left on her own at the creche, on Thursday.

Tania (or John) could probably elaborate. I am right thinking there was suspicion that Madeline was already dead, i.e., very late Tuesday night? Could Gerry have kept her with him in the master bedroom/separated Madeleine from Kate, as he watched over her, after his return Tuesday night, and then secret her in the living room for a period of time after she expired before moving her from their apartment/off the resort on ThursDAY while everyone was at the beach? Or sometime later on?

If it is true that Madeleine expired on Tuesday night, then it speaks to why Gerry would have "ignored" her so blatantly on Wednesday night.

All my opinion.

Nic said...

Tania,

I think I addressed some of your question about the bed/s. Conjecture to be sure, but plausible.

Given your interest in this case, you could definitely speak to any investigation to LE's attempt to investigate the Tuesday night. I would be very interested to read what you have to say about that.

Tania,

That is interesting what you wrote about Pain=Payne.

The bed by the window that looks slept in....it may be a stretch, but I wonder if she was made to sleep by the window so Payne could climb in the window and molest her? Or perhaps require her to stand up on the bed while he lifted her out through the window so he could molest her. If window was left open and he lifted her out this wouldnt leave forensic evidence.
I am convinced he was given access to her by the sicko father and prob also the mother...it is obvious due to the words Payne spoke to Jerry along with the obscene gesture in reference to Maddie.

The following paragraph from Mrs Fenn's August 20th statement contains a lot IMO:

'Upon leaning over the terrace, after having seen the mother, Mrs Fenn asked the father, Gerry, what was happening to which he replied that a small girl had been abducted. When asked, she replied that she did not leave her apartment, just spoke to Gerry from her balcony, which had a view over the terrace of the floor below. She found it strange that Gerry when said that a girl had been abducted, he did not mention that it was his daughter and that he did not mention any other scenarios. At that moment she offered Gerry help, saying that he could use her phone to contact the authorities, to which he replied that this had already been done. It was just after 22.30.'

1. The GNR weren't called until 22:40
2. Why is he using distancing language 30 minutes after he supposedly found out his daughter was gone?
