Quiz: Speeding Ticket Statement

A subject complained about speeding tickets in the state of Georgia.

Quiz for analysis:

1.  How many speeding tickets does he have?

2.  What else do you know about the subject?

3. Is he telling the truth?

All questions warrant explanation as Statement Analysis is not guess work.

"This is ridiculous.  I was raised and grew up in LA my whole life and went 19 straight years without a speeding ticket.  I moved to Georgia and you know what?  I got 3 tickets in the first 2 years I lived here.  You tell me it is not a speed trap state?  Get real.  I am not a dangerous driver and this is about revenue and not about safety. "

I would say he has gotten between 4-6 tickets.

He states that he went '19 years straight' without a speeding ticket, so it's possible speeding tickets began & ended that streak...after all he doesn't say he NEVER received a ticket while driving in LA.

He states he got 3 tickets in 2 years, and is presumably getting another...so that's how I came up with my number, lol

"... I was raised and grew up in LA my whole life and went 19 straight years without a speeding ticket....."

I find this a strange statement. ...raised, ...grew up ...my whole life. He is prioritizing the location. if he spent his whole life in LA whose life was the last two years in Georgia?

"...and went 19 straight years without a speeding ticket...." missing pronoun "I" so here he doesn't want to place himself in this sentence. the word "straight" is unnecessary to the sentence so there may be deception in this sentence. possibly stopped for speeding and not ticketed.

".... I moved to Georgia and you know what? ...." a question in a statement shows sensitivity. he does this twice in a very short statement. here it appears to be story telling, narrative building.

"...I got 3 tickets in the first 2 years I lived here...." the subject is putting himself into the statement and it is probably the truth here.

"... Get real..." the subject feels a need to insult the recipient of the statement, like a bully who needs to persuade by force or intimidation.

"....I am not a dangerous driver and this is about revenue and not about safety. " he brings up the subject of dangerous driving, a need to persuade. the subject has the perception that others consider him to be a dangerous driver (he may well be)

I think he has more than the tickets he is telling us about. so he is being deceptive.

I think he wants to be back in LA and has anger issues

Quiz for analysis:

1. How many speeding tickets does he have?
At least 3. Since we do not know the age of the complainer, we cannot assume that he is 19 years old. We assume he has gone 19 years without a ticket because we believe what the subject tells us. He admits to 3 tickets. He likely received more than 3.

2. What else do you know about the subject?
"This is ridiculous" indicates closeness to the subject, which is unsafe driving. The subject is at least 19 years old. I consider myself going X number of years without a ticket since age 16 when I got my license, not since birth. The subject is probably in his mid to late 30s in age, at least. That which is stated in the negative is sensitive. "I am not an dangerous driver" indicates he has been accused of dangerous driving or driving during unsafe conditions in the past. He was "raised and grew up in LA", making his childhood sensitive, and also the city of his childhood sensitive. LA is known for heavy traffic and unsafe roadways. He is being arrogant that not even on the most unsafe and congested roads in the largest city in America is he considered an unsafe driver, so he cannot possibly be considered unsafe in Georgia. Therefore, it must be about revenue rather than his driving capabilities.

3. Is he telling the truth?
Deception indicated.

I will post the results of the interview as well as the results from the Motor Vehicle print out in one conclusion.

Yes. He got 3 tickets in Georgia. As always, everything is soooooooo much better in California when a native is released into the world.

Perhaps he has no speeding tickets in LA, but what about other moving violations?
It's hard to speed when traffic is at a crawl.Passing people by use of ditch?

"I am NOT a dangerous driver."

Speeding isn't the only danger available. Failure to hit the brakes when needed; weaving in and out of traffic;phone use; intimidating other drivers (making shooting motion with fingers); and my favorite-turning right from the far left lane.

All the above can be accomplished in speeds under 20.

- He was not born in LA. He did not say he was, and I'm not going to say it for him ;-)

- When he says he is not a dangerous driver, he is not saying he is a speeder, and I'm not going to say it for him, so I'll take it as an admission he is a speeder, and that his ticket was well-deserved. Which in turn contradicts his allegation that his speeding ticket was really about revenue.

- Furthermore he does not say he is a safe driver, etc., which would be expected from context, if safety were the issue. He tries to make safety the issue, but speeding is the issue.

- "This is ridiculous." He takes ownership of the incident. He's guilty as sin.

- I do believe him when he says he is not a dangerous driver, because the wording of that statement is reliable. But I'll bet his internal definition of "dangerous" is different from mine ;-) Probably along the lines of "safe = not getting caught".

Just a couple side questions here:

- How do you get raised and grow up your whole life? I thought the raising and growing up part ends when you are done rising and growing.

- Is it possible to get a ticket while you are being raised? Does he mean he never got caught speeding on his tricycle?

This person has had tickets before, it's speeding tickets that he/she has not gotten. Dont be surprised if they have tons of parking violations, or a DUI or any other ticket, even a failure to stop or yield.

This person is condescending towards persons from Georgia. LA is a city yet they accuse the entire state of being a speed trap. This means that their speeding tickets aren't limited to just Atlanta for example (and equally sprawling urban landscape) their speedng is state-wide. This person has a need to boast where they are from. This person spoke in the negative about what they are not, a dangerous driver, this makes it doubly important. One of these tickets must have been way way past the speed limit.

If this person says that for 19 years they didn't get a "speeding" ticket, then their age can be approximated perhaps. Let's say they were 18 when they got their driver license. If we add 19 then they were 37 when they moved to Georgia. They were 39 by the time they got 3 speeding tickets in Georgia. This person has gotten more after that - I've gotten 3 tickets in the first TWO years I've lived here. So there are the second two years after. That would make him/her over 41. This also meant that there are less than 3 more tickets for speeding after that. He/she is certainly upset since he racked up those points quickly. License is probably close to if not already suspended.

1. We can't say how many tickets he's got since we don't know how many he got in California

2. Older than forty. Angry. Self righteous. Speeding is no problem for him - he can have been speeding his whole life for that matter. He knows best how to drive safely and therefore he doesn't have to obay "ridiculous" rules, indicating that he holds the law in comtempt (which other laws doesn't he need to obay?

3. Yes

"Note whenever the number 3 enters a statement as it is known as the "liar's number" It should not be considered deceptive on its own, only noted in context. When someone wishes to be deceptive and chooses a number, it is often "3" unless the subject is asked how many drinks he or she had, and then the number is "two". The number 3 enters such as: "I was approached by 3 men" or "At 3 oclock on the third floor..." etc. It is not an indicator of deception on its own, for it is possible to be approached by 3 men on the third floor; only that it should be noted and later factored into the full analysis. It doesn't mean he holds the law in contempt therefore death threats are not needed Lars Bak. (Some states and/or cities and counties set up speed traps for revenue)His perception of Ga. compared to Cal is indication of his warm memories of the later.

Why guess age? Who knows, but here goes: mid to late 30s.
Some Americans begin driving at typical 16, others 14 or younger. In non-California southern states the age 14 isn't at all unusual if they have to work.
areas and their deemed speed zones. It may not be unusual to travel a four-lane highway at 60mh and suddenly the limit may drop to 25 mph due to one store and a couple of homes in small town nowhere.

He isn't well traveled.Just from California and when you live there why see any where else?

Why is this a subject? Did he make a statement against the state on radio or Internet and it is now illegal?
"Raised" "grew up" and "whole life" is telling of where he is going with this.
Mid-30s and rarely out of LA, he doesn't know it takes time to get to know other

Okay, I'll go with Kadydid

Under 30, not well traveled, inability to adapt into Ga surroundings and out to change the system to be more like he remembered in Cali...as a teen which he will never out grow.(raised, grew up, and my WHOLE LIFE) my whole life is an indicator of a lie about to happen for me.

He fails to observe the speed limits which could be because he is traveling in uncharted areas. He now isn't crowded on the roadway and can cruise with the pedal to the medal if you will.He isn't aware of foliage covering rural routes or missing signs all together. He is young or else he'd sense areas that normally drop limits like Interstates that reduce the limit when going through a city. Some states it is wide open in the wilderness; GA isn't one of them.

He is a dangerous driver, though speeding hasn't been one of those dangers in the past. If he has only had three speeding tickets (taking his word for it), he has forgotten the rest or they don't count since they weren't issued in GA. (in his mind) Perhaps he got few enroute to GA from LA? (in a hurry to leave?)

It's always better in California or England from their perspective. It's the American way. Akin to the day Gomer Pyle joined the Marine Corp. It is expected.

1. He has 19 tickets. The "19 straight years" seems odd, nineteen means something to him. Missing prounoun before "went". Connecting unrelated and unecessary info.
2. White male, middle aged. Will have other run ins with the law besides speeding. Who told him it's not a speed trap State? Who accused him of being dangerous driver? As a previous poster pointed out dangerous driving doesn't necessarily involve high speed. Speed tickets are about speeding. He brings up other issues that are not connected. He has history.
3. Is he truthful, partially. He lived in LA and moved to Georgia and got three tickets in two years there. The rest is unreliable.

I am convinced that this person is much older than 41. They drove for 19 years straight without a ticket, but that doesn't mean that those straight 19 years happened just after they got their driver's license. I suspect this driver's youth was probably riddled with speeding violations. Then came the quiet period of 19 years without a speeding ticket (but perhaps other tickets). Now this person is no longer living in LA where they compared to Georgia (city to state comparison). I am inclined to think that this person may have had a financial need to leave because they didn't themselves have the "revenue" needed to stay in LA and may be retired. Perhaps why "revenue" from the state of Georgia is what is foremost in their mind and their reasoning for being hammered with speeding tickets. Only an older person would take insult in being considered a "dangerous driver". A young guy would have laughed the insult off. I think this is what the police officer that gave this person the ticket said to him. The policeman called him a
dangerous driver and he took insult - enough for it to still be in his mind. He's an old man. Whiny too. I can't wait until your Friday analysis, maybe then I can clear my head.:)

1) At least 7. He bookended the 19 years with at least two, the “3” is likely four or more, and he may be responding to a new ticket.

2) He may have been in a straight relationship for 19 years (long enough for a minor child to be raised and released). He moved to Georgia after a “straight” stretch of 19 years. He likely has a history of doing dangerous and unsafe things in his car.

3) No. He says “my whole life”, yet moved to Georgia at least two years ago. Or, does he consider his time in Georgia to be part of a new life?

I went 35 straight years without a speeding ticket, because I received my first speeding ticket at the age of 35.

1. How many speeding tickets does he have?
I don't know how long he already lives in Georgia, but it's over 2 years. He doesn't tell us how much speeding tickets he got the second 2 years or third....so based on this statement I would say "this" is his fourth. But he does have had other tickets, only not speeding related.

2. What else do you know about the subject?
The statement is made by a male, around 40.
Iam not from there but knowing from TV and internet, I would think LA is a city where is so much traffic it's more difficult to drive fast, not impossible but more difficult. Georgia would be more outdoors so guess also more rural area where people often are triggered (trapped) to go over speeding limits, because there is less traffic.(speed trap state), and roads are long stretched and invite to drive faster then the speed limit.
He doesn't think he's a dangerous driver, still he does acknowledge that it has to be about safety, which he claims this was not, this was about revenue to him. He knows speeding is not safe...still he admits he got speeding tickets before but he doesn't say those were about revenue, "this" was about revenue,so he probably does drive to fast and thinks he's a great driver therefore he shouldnt be getting "this" speeding ticket (he was trapped by the state, because of speed limits)

3. Is he telling the truth?
He does tell truth in some parts (living in LA moving to Georia, getting speeding tickets, but there is missing information, he's not the "drive safe" type as he pretents to be.
