McCollum said Moorer and her husband were trying to get pregnant before they were arrested in February.

McCollum asked for John to set a bond for Moorer because she has had miscarriages in the past and the stress of being jailed could jeopardize this pregnancy.

Donna Elder, a senior solicitor, said on March 13 Tammy Moorer took a pregnancy test at the Georgetown County Detention Center and it was negative. On March 18, Moorer told officials she believed she was pregnant and requested to be examined by an obstetrics and gynecology doctor because the last time she had one was in 2005, Elder said.

On March 26, Elder said Moorer was taken to Loris Hospital for a human chorionic gonadotropin, also known as hCG, test, which is a hormone produced during pregnancy. That urine test showed hCG levels had increased and indicated she was pregnant, but an ultrasound showed it was questionable, Elder said.

On March 28, Moorer was taken to Conway Medical Center for another hCG test to confirm, but it showed her levels had not risen much from the first test two days prior.

“The doctor said if it was a viable pregnancy it would have doubled,” Elder said.

Officials have asked Moorer to take another pregnancy test and be examined by an OBGYN, but Elder said she has since refused those tests and refused to take any prenatal vitamins offered to her by jail staffers.

“They have many inmates who are pregnant that they take care of every day,” Elder said of the jail staff’s ability to address any needs Moorer has regarding the possible pregnancy.

http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/2014/05/23/4244392/woman-charged-in-heather-elvis.html?sp=/99/134/#storylink=cpyJohn Mc Gowanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00430624388902099338noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7164794708270892518.post-48201614415559818002014-05-23T16:08:23.225-04:002014-05-23T16:08:23.225-04:00IF she was pregnant -- and that's big if -- s...IF she was pregnant -- and that's big if -- she knows she has already miscarried. So when we hear this mother using the word "just" in reference to wanting them home I think that she could be meaning that she wants other peoples focus to be on "just" that one thing, that specific thing. I do think it indicates knowledge of other things that she doesn't want others to pay attention to - she "just" or "only" wants the focus on her wanting her children home and that is all she wants other people to be focusing on so that they're not focusing on her or what happened.
Maybe Peter can elaborate on that use of the word "just" also since I think it is common whether there is deception or not. When we want one thing focused on and others put aside we sometimes use the word just to mean "just this one thing to the exclusion of the others" - not as a means of minimizing but of specifying and prioritizing. Why the difference in language? I don't know about y'all but I believe the mom is telling the truth- Myra is gone. She's not with somebody else. Our baby is gone (sharing responsibility) my kids (isn't Myra one of her kids? Why the possessive pronoun here and not MY BABY or BABIES?) arewith somebody else. And since there is that early distinction (our baby/ my kids) in the second part where she says she wants her children back, does she mean Myra too? Or just her kids? Maybe its just my personal dictionary, but kids is short for children, but in hers does children include the baby? Or is she using the word children because the other kids were removed from the home by protective services?
and not once in in 125 1/2 words did she say Myra's name, there was no plea for Myra to be brought home or found, nothing that expected from a parent of a missing 2 year old baby. Its all about how hard it is for the mom. No concern for what their baby or her children are going through. I always make note of the use of ...A few thoughts:

I always make note of the use of the word ‘just’. It is a form of the lie of minimization. People feel better that they express that they ‘just’ want this one thing. For example, they didn’t want to take all the pants from the store, they ‘just’ wanted that one pair of pants. They minimize the fact that they stole that pair of pants by asserting that they exercised restraint and only took one pair rather than all of them. It is a logical fallacy but commonly used. In 5 lines she uses the word ‘just’ 9 times. Lot and lots or repetition in her statement about what she wants.

“so i can continue to raise them. And have them be the, what they want to be in life.” Strange sentences. I take the second sentence as being a continuation of the first thought and would highlight both sentences in blue – highly sensitive. It is also a broken sentence. The speaker originally had one thought, stopped herself, and changed the sentence in mid-phrase. What did she want? ”have them be the…” What?

“in life” is extra words. It is included so it is important to the speaker. Why would she feel the need to clarify “what they want to be” by adding, “in life”. Is it because she wants her remaining children, who she knows are still alive, to be what they want to be in life, as opposed to Myra, who she may know is dead and cannot be what she wants to be, “in life”. It is a distinction the speaker makes and is worth exploring.

-AkulaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
