I empathise with her, because I also have strong belief in a specific moral cause. People without these strong moral feelings don't understand the drive to do the right thing, no matter what the circumstances. Remember that the media, such as movies, is always portraying the protagonist as going against the law to do the right thing - such as the hero committing violence and murder in order to defeat the bad guys. While the hero is initially on his own with everyone against him, eventually people realise he is correct, and the world is changed.

The message that we grow up with is that you should always do the right thing, no matter what. "Stand up for what's right, even if you're standing alone". If a person lacks emotional intelligence, like Gun Lady, they may struggle to adapt their beliefs to reality. In the real world, you simply cannot go against the rules for moral reasons. You won't change anything.

Also, with the media always promoting certain beliefs and vilifying others (is some cases making certain beliefs illegal), people have become unable to agree to disagree. They simply think the other side is evil.

What the Gun Lady did sounds equivalent to the types of things I would have wanted to do as an idealistic teenager.

I don't think she's an attention seeker, but as you said low emotional intelligence. She is idealistic, unrealistic, and wanted to prove that she's a good moral person, who will never screw you over. She probably incorrectly read you as a super-lib. Immature liberals think they are nice, and differing views come from ignorant callous people, so when they meet a person who seems nice, they think they've found a fellow SJW.

I also think she probably saw Walmart as an evil, big employee who will not be harmed by petty acts. She probably wouldn't have boasted about misbehaving if she'd worked in a small family newsagent.
Truth loverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01240032668571526624noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7164794708270892518.post-51745276838021188652015-10-04T13:55:03.720-04:002015-10-04T13:55:03.720-04:00

I've always been a sole proprietor and kept all the profit, not paid out wages, and not had personnel issues. Of course I have no life either with the hours I've kept, but I digress. lolKimberly Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00799677057297357892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7164794708270892518.post-16711655400676522622015-10-03T18:57:48.970-04:002015-10-03T18:57:48.970-04:00Shingles? I'm glad you wrote about the stress an owner feels to keep employees working. Must always have happy customers. A small business owner will eat mistakes an employee makes. Will worry about future business. Always trying to improve service and lower costs. Will sacrifice our own financial future, while taking all the risk. Taxed severely in our own town, where Walmarts and Lowes get tax breaks for 10 years. No HR department to screen for new hires. Heck, we can't find anyone who wants to work 9-5. Been looking for a long time.

It's stress, stress, stress. No lunch until after 3:00 if at all. Aging faster than our friends. Always unhealthy with no time to exercise. Quick take out meals, and you can't eat healthy with takeout, you just cant.

And then there's the frivolous lawsuit. You MUST hire a lawyer. You MUST settle, so you can go on living and working. Even if every fiber of your being says settling means you are guilty. You have to weigh the stress of a continued lawsuit, against getting stress related symptoms, like Shingles, cold sores, vision problems, trouble sleeping. And then there are the doctor bills from the frivolous lawsuit.

My unsolicited advice: Never own your own business!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7164794708270892518.post-39858551838308385782015-10-03T11:55:55.557-04:002015-10-03T11:55:55.557-04:00Doesn't seem to be a good time to be a 2 year ...Doesn't seem to be a good time to be a 2 year old these days.
