SALINAS, Calif. – A 12-year-old California boy says he killed his dog because he wanted to see the terrier mix die.
The Salinas Californian says police officers found the 12-pound dog hanging by its collar on a bedroom door handle.
Investigators say the boy told officers he was mad at the dog and he wanted to see it die.
Dispatchers got a 911 emergency call Friday afternoon from a female caller saying the boy was hurting the dog. People in the boy's apartment refused to open the door when Salinas officers arrived, so they obtained a pass key.
The boy was arrested and taken to Monterey County Juvenile Hall for investigation of felony animal cruelty.

Who made the 911 call?
If it was someone in the apartment such as his mom, why then did they refuse admittance to LE?
Were they perhaps planning on hiding the dog's body and claiming it was a misunderstanding?
Refusing admittance to LE is asking for trouble, it gives the implication they were trying to hide something which leads me along the well trodden path of illegal drugs.
I would be interested to know if this family are known to LE and CPS.
The torture and murder of this dog was an escalation crime not a one off.
My betting is he has abused animals before, small ones such as rodents maybe cats.
Being mad at a dog and wanting to see it die is not normal behavior, it can't even be pased off as a spur of the moment lashing out in anger crime.
Rage crimes such as being mad at a pet for some perveived crime usually results in a violent death by beating, kicking etc.
This dog's death was slow an agonising.
The boy wanted to inflict the maximum amount of pain and suffering on his pet.
This is not a rage crime, he was not mad at the dog, this was pre meditated.
At any point he could have saved the dog, instead he watches it slowly strangle to death, a death which would last minutes.
He enjoyed his crime, he even tells us why he did it, he wanted to watch it die.
He wanted to watch it suffer.
This child is a psychopath.
Today a dog, tommorow a person.
A serial killer in the making perhaps.(remember casey anthony and all those dead pets?)
For his own safety and the safety of others he needs a stiff sentence where he will get the help he clearly needs.
If he gets off with a slap on the wrist he will kill again.
I would also be taking a real close look at the family, his behavior is a result of what happens behind closed doors to some extent.
He is a danger to himself and others, this isn't his first crime nor will it be his last.
The warning signs are there, take note and act for to ignore it will lead to consequences no one wants.
This kid needs his ass kicked.
Beat his ass...then start over...everday when he wakes up, beat the punks ass !!

On Sunday, October 28 when many across the country were praying for Susan to find peace and to let God bring her home, she passed through the doorway of the mansion in heaven that was prepared for her.
Is she gone from us? No way.
Susan's work lives on in each and every victim of violence that she figured out how to save, it goes on through each case she offered her expertise that got the attention it needed to make progress, she lives on through each friend who touched her life and to whom she gave so freely.
Although her shoes can never be filled, her work will continue.
All of us have a favorite memory, picture and story about Susan. Please feel free to leave your words here in the comment section.
Memorial announcements will be made for a time in the future.

I'm always amazed how quickly my selfish gene kicks in. After thinking what a horrible thing to do to a dog, my next thought was thank goodness he's not my neighbor.
All I could think of is Anthony Bennett.
Yes, Anthony Bennett, and Shawn Adkins and Billie Jean Dunn. This kid is only going to get worse. Let's hope this kid is kept away from any vulnerable person or animal.
@ Hobnob OT: Who's Susan?

@ Jazzie & CEC:
What's Anthony Bennett to do with Shawn Adkins and Billy Jean Dunn?

Susan Murphy Milano was heroine, a warrior, a valiant fighter for others, and a friend of ours here on the SA blog. Peter has many times shared airtime with her on radio shows in the search for justice for those without a voice. A few months ago she was diagnosed with cancer, while we all prayed with her and for her, her time seems to have now come. Thanks HobNob for letting me know. I wanted to share much more time with Susan, sometimes it seems like those who do the most for this world burn the brightest and the fastest. Goodbye Susan.
..and AB, SA and BJD are all twisted, perverted, child murdering filth.
Hi Châtelaine
Susan Murphy Milano.
Susan Murphy Milano was a specialist and expert in intimate partner violence and worked nationally with corporations, faith based organizations, domestic violence programs, law enforcement and prosecutors providing technical and consulting services in “high risk” domestic violence and stalking related cases. Her principal objective was to intervene before a victim is seriously injured or killed. Utilizing a procedure which she devised, The Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit,© Murphy Milano’s clients are all still alive--a statistic that is remarkable considering the distinct increase in intimate partner homicides.
She was also host on the CrimeWire blog and radio show with Dennis Griffin.
She was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer back in june

This site charts her journey with cancer.
Susan was and is an amazing woman.
Her legacy will live on, not just fighting to get justice for victims and advising on how not to become a victim, also her journey with cancer which will help and offer comfort to those who may fall victim to a horrible disease.
Even as she fought cancer her humor still shone through.
My thoughts go out to all her family and friends an to all thoe whose lives she touched.
I wish I hadn't visited the site. I am sick about this baby dog being murdered by this horrible evil bastard. I don't care if he is 12. What was wrong with the other people in the apartment? I want him hung from a dog collar. Evil f*****.
anonymous 7:12, do you get this angry when kids are killed?
you want to hang a child?
A sociopath in the making.
@Boston-
Or worse.
I'm so sorry about Susan. RIP. :-(
Hobnob,
Do you really think there is anything that can help this 12 year old? I don't think so. Can you cure a psychopath? Can you make a person develope empathy?
What kind of help would actually help? I am of the opinion that he is forever a psychopath. He needs to be locked away for ever. Also, sterilized!
Hobs,
I agree with everything you said, and you said it well. Just wondering if there is a cure for his problem.
Given his age and the nature of his crime, this has been going on for a while.
His family may have noticed and ignored it, perhaps thinking he would grow out of it.
his family may not have been aware since this is something usually doing in isolation, where there is no chance of discovery or interruption.
I would be interested to know if small animals or pets have gone missing recently or animal remains found and perhaps blamed on predation.
I would also be interested to know what he was like at school.
Was he a loner, quiet, shy, bullied for being 'different', did he have many friends?
Has he had any form of counselling, if so when and why?
What is the family environment like.
This didn't come out of nowhere, the signs were there to be seen, were they ignored or not understood?
I don't feel that he can be cured, he is what he is, a psychopath, he is broken, perhaps beyond repair.
Society has a problem in what can or should be done with such people.
With adults we can lock them up for life so socviety outside is protected, they can be monitored and medicate as needed.
With children, the problem is, is it right and proper they should be locked away for the protection of society and themselves.
At this tender age the brain is still forming and growing, is it possible that faulty connectons can be repaired given treatment and time?
If so would it be safe to release them back into society, perhaps with limited or no supervision?
Who would be prepared to take the risk and thus the responsibility?
What happes if they kill again since we know they have done so already. the 2nd time is always easier since the taboo, the boundry has been crossed.
Most, if not all psychopathic killers follow a similar pattern, small animls, pets, people.
In each case torture is important, they want to see the suffering.
They don't see the creature as a living being with feelings, there is no mental connection, no empathy between the killer and the victim. (dahmer, anthony) rather it is curiosity as o what happens when they do this or that, how long can they prolong the agony?
I know i would not be a happy bunny if they released him back into society with a slapped wrist.
I could never trust him, i wonder also if his family could ever trust him if they were the normal happy family.
Imagine waking up each day wondering if your child has done the same again or worse.
There will be no winners in this case, rather a trail of lost childhood, lost nurturing, guilt and fear.
Hobs,
Thank you for answering. I have had a pschopath in the family for a short time. He was not a killer, but a user and deciever. He wanted to tarnish every family member. He filed false police reports. He was hurtful and vengeful and caused a lot of pain.
The police were wise to his ways.
I don't know what he is doing now, but my guess he is plotting some way to live off of disability, as this was his m.o. before he married into the family. I am sure he has left a trail of destruction with every one he comes into contact with.
Oh, he is/was a teacher! A morally bankrupt human being who has no business being around kids. To report him, would make me a target. He would make ME out to be the crazy person because he is charming and smart and believable at first. It has been years ago, but his behavior has effected me and my family for a long time.
His Mom was just as bad. In this case, apple didn't fall far from the tree.

He will be tried as an adult.
This boy is evil. He should have the best treatment available. He needs to be monitored when he is released. I hope he is kept in custody until he is 18, longer if the law allows.
If something is not done, he will kill kids next.
Also, whoever did not allow the police in should be charged with obstruction of justice.
Do any of you recall the inordinate number of pets that George Anthony burried in his back yard? I think the evil one had plenty of practice.
Whats your point, anon 7:51? Its not ok to be angry at dog killers and sociopaths in the making? He is not simply a kid, he is a predator.
