PETA Letter to The President

The most insulting letter ever penned?  Do you dare analyze?

In a letter, the animal rights group argues the annual White House ceremony "makes light of the mass slaughter of some 46 million gentle, intelligent birds." It also says the annual event "portrays the United States president as being in some sort of business partnership with the turkey-killing industry."
"You understand so well that African-Americans, women, and members of the LGBT community have been poorly served throughout history, and now I am asking you to consider other living beings who are ridiculed, belittled, and treated as if their sentience, feelings, and very natures count for nothing," wrote PETA President Ingrid Newkirk in the letter.

Why doesn't PETA just come out with the truth and rename themselves. PWHP-people who hate people.

First, does anyone have a link to the whole letter? I can find parts and pieces in news articles but not the whole document.
Second,really???
Third, how sad and transparent that PETA feels they need to bring race and sexual orientation into the discussion. That shows how desperate they are. I appreciate folks that have decided to make a life choice not to eat meat AND don't make it a point to forece their opinions on others.

I don't know if it's the most insulting letter ever written, but it is one of the funniest. Good grief.

When the vice president of Peta stops using insulin for her diabetes I will consider looking at their point of view on something. Until then, :-p

Frannie,
interestingly enough:

I searched for the entire letter and did not find it, but what I did find was interesting:

media that gave portions of the letter excluding the political correct baiting section!

If I am a member of those compared to turkeys, I am a very...well, I don't know how I would feel.

I don't think "insulted" cuts it because it is too far gone to hurt.

As to being a member of "tasty" animals...I baste my turkey like someone with OCD, but is it always moiste!

Heather may be a baker and a wonderful cook, but when it comes to Thanksgiving turkey, it's man's land!

I couldn't resist.

Please help find Ayla
Ingrid Newkirk was born in England on June 11, 1949. She was raised mostly in India, where her fatherâ??s job as a navigational engineer had taken the family. Her mother worked with lepers, while Newkirk attended convent boarding schools. ‘It was the done thing for a British girl in India,’ she said. ‘But I was the only British girl in this school. I was hit constantly by nuns, starved by nuns. “The whole God thing was shoved right down my throat.” When she was 18, with the Vietnam War raging, she moved with her father to the United States, who was seconded to the United States Air Force in Florida, where he helped design bombing systems for airplanes and ships.
In 1972, Ingrid Newkirk was 22 years old, living in Poolesville, Maryland, and studying to become a stockbroker. She admits that her favourite food around this time was liver.
At 19, Newkirk married an American, Steven Newirk, who she later divorced in 1980. By the age of 22 she had herself sterilized, a decision she says came from the conviction that the world was full of unwanted babies. At one point, she considered adopting, but she “just got too busy with the animals.

Turkeys are intelligent birds. Our founding fathers almost made the turkey our national bird. I am glad the bald eagle won out. We have bred the bird to be big breasted for our dinner plates. This big waddling bird is very different than his wild range kin.

I read a few years back about a couple of PETA volunteers that tried to stop a bunch of hogs from being slaughtered and opened the gate to release the animals causing the animals to stampede and trample the two yoyos to death.

two thumbs up on skepticals PETA!!

Ah, yes: African Americans, women, the LGBT community, and turkeys.

I have to disagree with PETA that the turkey has been "poorly served"- I have personal experience of many turkeys that have been excellently served, and I expect another to join their ranks tomorrow!

Everyone to Peter and Heather's for dinner.

My own christmas turkey rawks. Bro and i lock ourselves in the kitchen with a couple bottles of really good wine and do the cooking whilst his wifey entertains their kids and rellies (no rellies this year secially bro's miserable mom in law yaay)
Piers and i are getting real good at sharing the bacon used to cover the bird (several lbs worth) which we remove about 30 mins or so before it's done so the bird can brown, the smoked bacon keeps it moist and adds a delicious smokiness to the bird. I makes the besterest gravy using the meat juices and a big slosh of red wine.
It is served with roast taters, creamed taters with added horseradish to lift the flavor as well as butter and cream) honey roast parsnips, carrots, peas, brussel sprouts, snorkers wrapped in bacon, several types of stuffings and the obligatory bread sauce and cranberry sauce.

Boxing day we do the same again with the cold turkey :)
New years day same again with a smaller turkey.

As you can see, we love roast turkey.

If everyone did as peta etc wanted and became vegan, what would happen to all the millions, nay billions of farm animals?

Would we continue to feed them and allow them to live out their natural lives?
A big waste of food there then.

Would they all be slaughtered and the meat tossed away?
Again another big waste of food.

Would we slaughter them all, eat the meat and stop breeding and keeping said animals?

Congratulations we just made all the domesticated animals extinct.
Will they then demand we keep said animals to stop them becoming extinct since we can't use them for anything?

What about pets? especially cats who need a meat diet to produce vitamin D since they cannot produce it naturally?
Will we kill off every moggy? will this also include all the wild animals that need meat to live?

What about 3rd world countries where animals such as goats and camels provide w them will necessary proteins from their meat and milk, clothing from their wool and skins and tools from their bones?
There lands cannot support crowing crops, they instead grow grasses which feed the animals which then feed the people?

Veganism, great idea, lousy in practice.

Heck what about petv people for the ethical treatment of vegetables?
Wvery year millions of tons of living veg is torn up from the ground brutally or beheaded, or torn from the trees and vine, with no pain relief to feed us humans ( and various animals) will we have to anesthetize fileds of crops or orchards or vineyards before harvest so they feel no pain?

Fruitarians live only on fruit which has falled from the tree and is thus dead, is this next on the agenda?

What about bacteria? they are living organisms, will we have to use filters and stuff so we don't accidentally inhale a bacteria and kill it?
No walking as you are killing organisms etc.

Let's just erase the human population from the planet and mother earth can live in peace until a whacking big asteroid hits her or the sun finally expands and gobbles us up well done, extra crispy :)

I did, and now i feel super guilty cos billions of bacteria and microbes have died to give me life. I am a murderer of bacteria and this makes you an accessory cos you told me to do it.

I throw myself on the mercy of the court and promise i will apologise personally and individually to every family member of every bacterium i have murdered, not only by breathing but also beating the keys of my keyboard.

~Grabs back the bib i lent you~

I'm sorry mrs bacteria,
I'm sorry mrs bacteria,
I'm sorry mrs bacteria,
I'm sorry miss bacteria,
I'm sorry mr bacteria,

Has the president of PETA ever seen a live turkey?
Gentle and Intelligent.
They will walk into the side of their pen repeatedly until they get lucky enough to find the door.
The fly out from the side of the road at the precise moment I drive by. They eat their own young. They kill the weak and the lame.
Yep gentle and intelligent all right.

Wild turkeys don't resemble the domestic version at all. The former is adept at staying alive in the woods and fields, and are a joy to observe as they ramble through. Yhe latter, however, will drown in the rain as they stare upwards, wondering why water is falling. seriously. Or they stampede to death when a car horn honks.

Mine tasted great..all brined and roasted, and fresh. Even better as leftovers.
