Rob Ford Video

TORONTO – A new video that surfaced Thursday shows Toronto Mayor Rob Ford in a rambling rage, using threatening words including "kill" and "murder," as the saga that has gripped Canadians for months took yet another twist. The mayor told reporters moments after the video was posted online that he was "extremely, extremely inebriated" in it and "embarrassed" by it. The context of the video, which appeared Thursday on the Toronto Star's website, is unknown and it's unclear who the target of Ford's wrath is.

It prompted another round of calls for Ford to step down. It's been a whirlwind of a week for Ford, who on Tuesday admitted to smoking crack in a "drunken stupor" about a year ago. Police said last week they had obtained a different, long-sought video that shows Ford smoking a crack pipe. Police obtained that video in the course of a massive drug investigation into the mayor's friend and occasional driver.

Despite immense pressure from allies and critics, the mayor of North America's fourth largest city has refused to resign or take a leave of absence. Ford said Thursday he made mistakes and "all I can do is reassure the people. I don't know what to say." "When you are in that state ... I hope none of you have ever or will ever be in that state," Ford said. "It's extremely embarrassing. The whole world is going to see it."

At one point in the new video, Ford says he'll "make sure" the unknown person is dead. A visibly agitated Ford tells another person in the room, possibly the man filming the video, that he wants to "kill" someone in an expletive-laced rant. "Cause I'm going to kill that (expletive) guy," Ford says. "No holds barred brother. He dies or I die." At one point he says "My brothers are, don't tell me we're liars, thieves, birds?" and then later refers to "80-year-old birds." City Councilor James Pasternak urged Ford to make a "dignified exit." "The video is very disturbing," he said. "It's very upsetting, it's very sad." Ford lawyer Dennis Morris told The Associated Press the context of the video "is skeletal."

"What we have to do is find out when it was taken," he said. "Was it taken eight, 10 months ago or a short time ago? I'm going to try to find that out too. Maybe the Toronto Star knows better." Asked if Ford told him about the tape, Morris said: "I can't comment, but I don't think we really know." Deputy Mayor Norm Kelly said Ford's remarks are not that unusual. "All of us know that there are family moments or moments with our friends privately where we've seen behavior like that. We may even have had moments like that ourselves," Kelly said. "The language is the language of the gutter.

He's speaking obviously in an emotionally agitated state, but I don't know the context." Earlier Thursday, Morris said he was in talks with the police for Ford to view the video that appears to show the mayor smoking crack, as city councilors stepped up their efforts to force him from office. The mayor's travails were taking their toll on his supporters. Canada's finance minister became emotional when asked about Ford, a longtime friend who acknowledged this week for the first time that he smoked crack "probably a year ago" when he was in a "drunken stupor." Police are seeking to question Ford, whose attorney Dennis Morris declined further comment because he "didn't want to jeopardize anything." Morris previously said Ford would be willing to go view the tape but would not answer questions. Police have not charged Ford, saying the video didn't provide enough evidence against him. A police spokesman declined to comment. Municipal law makes no provision for the mayor's forced removal from office unless he's convicted and jailed for a criminal offence. City Councilor Denzil Minnan-Wong, a member of Ford's executive committee, said Thursday he plans to amend a motion he has filed that would ask Ford to take a leave of absence. The amendment takes the unprecedented step of asking the province of Ontario to pass legislation to remove the mayor should he not agree to take a leave of absence. The province has said it has no plans to amend the law, but the councilor was undeterred. "Quite frankly extraordinary measures are needed in extraordinary times," Minnan-Wong said.

The measure could be voted on next Wednesday. Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne has said she's concerned that Ford's personal issues were making it difficult for the city to carry on normally. But she said it was up to police, the courts or the mayor to take action. Ford acknowledged a drinking problem for the first time Sunday, saying on his radio show that he was "hammered" in public at a street festival in August and "out of control" drunk, carrying a half empty bottle of brandy around city hall after St. Patrick's Day last year.

He then made his stunning confession to reporters Tuesday that he had smoked crack while drunk. The mayor has called on police to release the tape, but police said they are prohibited from doing so because it is evidence before the courts. Police said the video will come out when Ford associate Alexander Lisi goes to trial on drug and extortion charges. Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair has also said police have a second tape, but he has declined to discuss what's on it. Police spokesman Mark Pugash said the video released Thursday is not the tape Blair talked about

Who gives a crap about Rob Ford or a bully sports figure, when there are helpless, starving, neglected and abused children being murdered at the hands of their own parents and their 'lovers' all over this country!

Here we have the word "PLAN" said in the negative, and as we know anything said in the negative is noted as sensitive.

The thing is, the word "PLAN" has always intrigued me, as we all make plans, whether we follow through with them is a different matter. It will be interesting to see who goes through with their "PLANS" and who will succeed ?.

Well, I am waiting for the string of prostitutes to come forward. You know, if you can accidentally smoke crack while in a drunken stupor, your *ick might accidental fall in someone!

Who cares. Write 'em off. This bloated up crack head will 'accidentally' kill himself anyhow. Don't they usually?

just looking at his picture, the man is physically out of control in that he's puffy and bloated, color of his face and fingers says "too much alcohol", appears his neck is way too swollen to fit inside his collar, more medical issues there.
This man's lifestyle is doing him in.

The mayor told reporters moments after the video was posted online that he was "EXTREMELY, EXTREMELY inebriated" in it and "embarrassed" by it.

"EXTREMELY, EXTREMELY" here he qualifies his statement with the word EXTREMELY X 2 weakening it. A qualifier is a word or words when removed doesn't affect the meaning of the sentence, the more qualifiers the weaker the sentence. They are also used to try and convince. I would doubt if he was as inebriated as he says he was..

"When YOU are in that state ... I hope none of you have ever or will ever be in that state," Ford said.

Here Ford uses distancing language by using the word "YOU". He is avoiding taking responsibility for his actions.

Asked if Ford told him about the tape, Morris said: "I CAN'T comment, but I don't think we REALLY know."

Morris says " I can't comment" then comments by saying "I don't REALLY know.

Again the word REALLY is unnecessary and again qualifies his answer therefore weakening it.

I don't know would be a stronger answer. By using the word "REALLY" there is a very good chance he does know.

The man is built like one of those lottery mascots - a ping pong ball with arms and legs. If he can't or won't take care of himself, why should anyone trust him to take care of his city?

He seems EXTREMELY coked up to me, not drunk. Could be both.

As I am sure Ford knows, 'you' don't take one hit of crack, just saying, lol!

He is clearly in crisis and needs a leave of absence (at the least) to gain some control over his life. It looks like he is going to end up forcing charges to be filed against him, just to get him out of office. His family and supporters should to advise him to step down before it comes to that.

I finally got it to play, and he is certainly tuned up about something!

I do wonder about the context of this rant, because he mentions 'the ring', like they are maybe discussing a no-holds-barred match of some kind? The other guy also says something about 'they are professionals', and he repeatedly brings up how much time he needs, like he is talking about a boxing or wrestling type of show down.

My question is why is this person surreptitiously recording this? It makes me question the motives of the person doing the recording, (did they also provide him with the info that led to the rant?) and therefore makes me wonder if they were setting Ford up for blackmail, or something. (Regardless, by Ford's own admission he has gotten way out of line, and needs to step down).

Peter -

Will you do an statement analysis of Gypsy Willis' alibi in the Martin MacNeill trial?

When she describes what she was doing the day Michelle MacNeill died, she stops using pronouns and then she says something to the effect of "it was the first time I knew of anything unusual" when talking about when she found out Michelle died.

Rob Ford's mother says mayor needs to ‘smarten up’ — but not go to rehab

Snipped-
“He did what he did, he made a mistake, he admitted to his mistake,” she said, praising her son for showing such “strong character.” ...

She said if her son was “really, really in dire straits,” she would be the first to put him in her car and take him to get help, but she didn’t elaborate on how bad things would have to be to prompt such action from the family.
___________

One wonders at her internal dictionary of "really, really in dire straits."

From his sister, Kathy Ford (snips):

"Robbie’s not a drug addict,” sister Kathy Ford told CP24. “I know because I’m a former addict — or an addict if you’d want to say."

And while Ford admitted to being in "drunken stupors," his older sister said he doesn't "drink every night."

“If you want to consider binge drinking once every three months and you get totally plastered, which he just makes a fool out of himself…fine,” Kathy Ford said.

The use of the word "birds" is interesting. Here he is using it to mean stupid, but in the drug world "birds" are bricks of cocaine. It's in his vocabulary. I think hes been around cocaine dealers quite a bit.

To bad Chris Farley passed away, he could've played Ford in a movie lol my phone won't play the video here but I saw a clip of Ford 'extremely inebriated' and it reminded me of Chris Farley on Saturday Night Live doing the van down by the river skit.
I'm not a tee-totaler but alcohol is a drug and alcoholism is an addiction. Mayor Ford is an addict and gives classic denials as far as being an addict that is out of control. (I.E.- 'I'm not an addict' 'it was only once when I was under the influence ' 'I don't drink everyday ' etc)
Mayor rob better get help before he ends up in a van down by the river...

I live in Ontario, Canada. I'll tell you that the media (Toronto Star, specifically,) has been hounding this guy for years. They *hate* him and have been smearing him since dot. The Toronto Star is left-leaning and he is a conservative (right-wing politician). Funny thing (not ha, ha), he's the best thing that's happened to Toronto, financially so you think he'd be "lauded". No, a plane was dispatched to follow him. They've been hanging in his tree and camping out on his lawn and scaring his kids by their actions.

Now this. The person who was his sometimes driver was arrested and one of the charges was extortion (in regards to the supposedly non-existent video showing Ford smoking crack cocaine... so draw you own conclusions about that.)

This new video some say is about a wrestling-type challenge for fundraising. Something like the boxing fundraising challenge the federal/liberal party did a couple of years ago. He's obviously drunk and the TO Star admit it is out of context but if you don't like the guy you can draw from it what you will. It's unfair and totally in step with what they've been doing in regards to this Mayor since the beginning.

This is real-time tragedy. The man has addiction problems. He needs help and is in denial. Worse his family is enabling him. (His mother has been quoted and it's sad to hear her denial.)

IMO, not only have the media run him over like a speed bump with their "investigative reporting", they've backed up over him and are throwing it into drive to run him over again for sport.

It's just gross. If I was a Torontonian and a subscriber to the Toronto Star, I'd cancel my subscription. This is not news, it's "reality programing in print" generated by *them* for $$.

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford admitted to buying illegal drugs in the last two years amid a heated and raucous city council meeting Wednesday in which nearly every legislator stood up and called on him to step down.

The embattled mayor, who last week told reporters that he smoked crack cocaine — probably "in one of my drunken stupors" — made the confession under direct questioning by members of the Toronto City Council.

Councilor Denzil Minnan-Wong, who introduced one of two motions in the council designed to minimize Ford's authority and shunt the mayor out of the limelight, asked Ford if he has bought illegal drugs within the last two years.

After taking a long pause, Ford said: "Yes. I have." It marked the first time the mayor, for months dogged by unseemly allegations, acknowledged having purchased narcotics.

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford warned Wednesday in his first city council grilling since admitting he smoked crack that there may be more revelations to come in the scandal.

Asked if he had any more skeletons in the closet, the mayor replied: "I don't know. I don't know, there might be like a coat hangar left in my closet. I don't know. I don't know what is left."

@Nic The Star has been hounding Ford? Really?

Have you stopped to think about why? Ford has been drunk (FYI crack & alcohol often go hand in hand as a crack user has a very high tolerance for alcohol.) and asked to leave functions due to his 'drunken state' (coked up also).

The media has been aware of Ford's issues but had no concrete evidence. Until the tape.

Do you know what became of the three men in the picture with Ford that circulated? Two were shot. One is dead, another survived. They were shot in the same incident. The third is incarcerated & refusing to talk to the media. Don't quote me on this but I am almost positive that he was stabbed while incarcerated also.

Coincidence? Well.....Police Detectives always say there is no such thing.

Again, there is so much more to the Ford situation. As a resident of Toronto, with acquaintances from all walks of life, I know of what I speak (well....type LOL).
