Baby Delano Wilson: Search Warrant Executed At Home

We saw deception from the father Willie Wilson, and some issues with the mother's short message.  Now we learn that a search warrant has been executed on the home:

by Megan Trent
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (September 1, 2014) – Police served a search warrant at the home of missing 6-week-old infant Delano Wilson Monday evening.
Rafael Diaz with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says this is standard procedure when a child is missing and does not necessarily indicate a new development in the case.
Police could be seen walking around the property with flashlights in the 500 block of Chase Street. More than a dozen officers were on the scene and a mobile crime lab was set up outside the home. As officers went in and out of the house, neighbors gathered outside to see what was happening.
Delano Wilson’s parents, Willie Wilson and Taniasha Perkins, could be seen on the front porch of the home along with other family members. Police took Perkins around to the side of the home, where she was questioned individually. Afterwards, Perkins was taken away in a police car, but she was not handcuffed.
Police continue to ask people with information about the disappearance of 6-week-old Delano Wilson to step forward.
The baby has been missing since just after noon Wednesday. The little boy’s father, Willie Wilson, says he was walking in an alley in the 1400 block of Henry Street when a man and woman attempted to rob him, then hit him and took his son out of his arms. He says they took off in a blue Taurus.
An Amber Alert was issued Wednesday and cancelled Friday evening after days of widespread searching.
Our main focus right now is to find this child,” says Diaz. “Unfortunately, the reason for the cancellation of the Amber Alert is because tips just weren’t coming in as much as we had hoped.”
This indicates another focus which is not "main."
Diaz says there have been a lot of resources dedicated to the case from the beginning.
“Obviously we want to make sure that we bring this child home, so we allocated a lot of resources to do that for a few days. I believe right now we’ve had about 200 plus manpower hours, boots on the ground, searching the area for that child.”
He says IMPD missing persons detectives are still searching the area and talking with people who live nearby. The FBI is continuing to offer their assistance when needed.
“Our focus right now is to still search the area in smaller patterns; not the full-out scale that we did last week, but detectives continue to be hopeful that tips will still continue to come in.”
While police are not giving up on their goal of bringing Delano home safely, Diaz says they need people to come forward with information.
“If there was ever a time when we need the public’s help, it’s in a case just like this,” says Diaz.
Anyone with information about Delano Wilson’s disappearance is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 262-STOP or IMPD’s missing persons hotline at 317-327-6915.

I wonder why it took 6 days to search the home. Is that standard procedure, or were the parents not cooperative of an initial search (without a warrant)? I would think initially even if it was a true abduction, the home would still be searched asap, even if just to gather, say, forensic evidence or whatnot (scent) for dog searches, and also again, if it was a true abduction, to rule out the parents, so focus could be placed elsewhere. Anyway, why the wait? Any theories or ideas?

Why isn't it a standard procedure to search the home of the missing child right away? It should be. Even if parents are not involved, searching the home could lead to clues.

This is the second child that Willie Wilson "lost."

I read that the first baby died in Ohio and the mother is in jail.

An interesting comment made by a neighbor: Christina Richey said she'd seen Delano's mother with the baby plenty, but had never noticed Wilson until that day.

-- It appears that little Delano isn't coming back. From this article neighbors stated that "The few fliers with information about Delano posted on light poles have been taken down. A purple stuffed animal against a fence in front of the family’s home has been removed. A “Baby on Board” yellow triangle in the rear window of the family car is missing. A minimal family and friends search Sunday has not been replicated and there is no search command post on Chase Street."

I guess Willie Wilson didn't need the "Baby on Board" sticker on his car any more.

That the police are searching in local creeks indicates they know they aren't looking for an abducted live baby, they are looking for a non abducted dead baby.

I still haven't found any mention of the parents being polygraphed.

Are the police giving them rope to hang themselves and monitoring them in the hope they will slip up and reveal the truth?

if they ask them to take a poly it places pressure on the parents who will likely clam up and hire a lawyer, whio will advise them no polys and say nothing if he is any good.

If they take a poly is it because they think they will pass a la dunn and adkins?
if they fail will they confess?
Will police say if they failed or it was inconclusive?
will the parents say if they passed, failed or it was inconclusive or that the police didn't give them the result?

Gentz said he grew concerned when he discovered she had left her keys and purse behind.
She didn’t leave me. The night before we’d talked and she said she had to go to her mother’s and she would take the bus,” Gentz said. “My phone was broken and it got shut off, because my truck got stolen and I didn’t get that sorted out ’til the Monday after. I called her mother’s house to see if she was there…She wasn’t there.”

If she didn't leave him, what did she do?

“My phone was broken and it got shut off, because my truck got stolen and I didn’t get that sorted out ’til the Monday after.
Because is used to explain why something happened.
was he asked this question and this was his freely edited reply or was he anticiparting being asked the question?
What relation is the broken phone to his truck being stolen?
His phone was broken and it got shut off.
Why?
Was it shut off because his truck was stolen?
What is the THAT he didn't get sorted out till the monday after?

The monday after what?

I called her mother’s house to see if she was there…She wasn’t there.”
Why did he call the mother's house to see if she was there?
She had told him she was going there.
When did he call the mother's house?

I wonder if he has been polygraphed?

Gentz said there has been a neighborhood drug lord terrorizing them and he thinks that man either snatched his wife or murdered her.
Why would the drug lord snatch his wife or murder her?
It is interesting he introduced the word murder when the obvious and positve hope would be she had been kidnapped.
It allows for her to be still alive.

If she was murdered then i would think it would have been done to send a message and her body would likely have been left where it could be found.
if you are sending out a message to your customers and dealers then concealing a body isn't going to get the message heard.

Something is off. I would like to see the full transcript of his words.

Snipped from news article:

'Perkins and another relative were removed to IMPD headquarters for another round of questioning, as Wilson sat on the curb and buried his head in his hands, refusing to speak to detectives without a lawyer present'.

Needless to say, not the usual behavior of a father who's baby has been "kidnapped".

Presser 9/3/2014
Search crews have gone house-to-house, searching woods, rivers and even the parents' west Indianapolis home.

But the baby's whereabouts are no clearer today than when he was reportedly kidnapped a week ago.

Wilson says was pistol whipped and robbed while taking a walk last Wednesday morning. The attack happened a few hundred feet from the couple's South Chase St. home.

However, a source tells Eyewitness News nearby security cameras recorded Wilson walking without his baby prior to his 911 call.

Wilson and the baby's mother, Taniasha Perkins, have canvassed the neighborhood, posting flyers for his safe return.

"Everyday I feel like I am living a nightmare. I hear my baby crying. Before I go to sleep, I can't sleep. I cry. Words can't explain how I feel," Perkins said.

Is the baby inside the house or the garage? was he moved? As we remember, baby Elaina Steinfurth, Toledo, Ohio.

Parents of Delano Wilson say they have nothing to hide

INDIANAPOLIS - 6-week-old Delano Wilson's parents have not been named as suspects or even persons of interests in this case.

Police have been very open about saying, though, that the couple's story about what happened to the baby has left them with some questions.

The couple told Eyewitness News they're very aware fingers are starting to point at them.

“We're not trying to hide from nothing,” Taniasha Perkins said from the Chase Street home she shares with her mother, boyfriend and two siblings.

That's the way Perkins and Willie Wilson, the baby's father, said it's been since last week when Wilson told police a couple kidnapped his 6-week-old son in broad daylight as he was walking with him around the block.

“I remember exactly what they look like. It was a white man. He had to be no younger than 30. He was bloodshot red eyes, aggressive. It looked like he was on drugs,” said Wilson.

“He was just looking like if he didn't get what he wanted he was going to kill,” he explained. “He was outta his mind. I mean, he hit me with my son in my arms."

Wilson told police he was knocked out, but came to - only to see the man and woman taking off with his son in a Blue Ford Taurus.

Sources told Eyewitness News a nearby security camera recorded Wilson walking without his baby before he called 911 to report the alleged kidnapping.

“The camera doesn't see towards the alley, but there's witnesses out there saying that they seen this blue car and that they seen a young lady. That's more than enough proof right there,” Wilson explained.

Whatever investigators have been looking for beyond the missing infant, their search brought them back to the couple's home this week.

“Delano's not here. Delano's just not here and he's out there somewhere and for you guys to be here, it just made me think like my son is out there somewhere and you guys are here, but why, we don't understand. You're supposed to be out there finding our son,” Perkins cried.

“They took carpet,” explained Perkins of what investigators removed from the home. “They took some of our items, the baby bassinet or the baby rocker. All that stuff. They took it."

Both parents said they've given police DNA and been questioned separately for hours.

“Seeing them throw my baby's picture in my face, calling me a killer saying that his, his own father would do that to him. It just. It hurts,” Perkins cried.

“They threw my son's picture in my face and they kept calling me a horrible dad,” Wilson cried.

“I understand you're doing your job. But we don't have anything to hide. We don't have anything to hide,” said Perkins.

That's why the couple said they'll continue to search for their son and do whatever they can to bring him home.

“As parents we owe him,” said Wilson. “He deserve everything we got to go out there and find him."

This case drew statewide attention when police issued an amber alert. It's also a hot topic on Amos Brown's local radio talk show on 1310AM The Light.

"I think there's a lot of confusion. There is compassion and a feeling that here's another tragedy, a tragedy involving a youngster in the city and wanting to see justice done, wanting hopefully the safe return of that young baby."

A family member told Eyewitness News FBI investigators visited the home Wednesday night and questioned Taniasha Perkins.

Why does he refer to the woman who allegedly abducted his son as a young lady?

why the politeness towards a criminal?
Why not say young femals or young female?

in his statements he refered to the man as male or man but the female was an hispanic lady in his 011 call and a young lady in his last statement.
This is unexpected.
I would expect to see anger towards the alleged abductors, rudeness, instead i see politeness towards the lady.

Why?

What is the "nothing they are "not" hiding.?

Follow the pronouns.

Parents speaking again. This time dad produced some real tears. Did seem like he kept trying to hide his face. Both avoid eye contact as well. Which if you see innocent parents its like they are pleading to that person to bring home their kid. They look in the camera usually.

As far as the tears…. I wonder if it’s more fear of being caught at this point since police have made it clear they don’t buy the story. I know I don’t.

The one area that I found interesting was his response to claims they had a security camera with him seen walking WITH OUT his baby before he called 911.

This was his response to that. Notice he doesn’t acknowledge the actual issue. HE WAS NOT WITH THE CHILD and was WALKING.

HE said he was still sitting in the street and had JUST came too when he called 911. So that clearly contradicts that statement without any doubt. Not to mention that he is also now fixing the other issue of saying they took the baby when he was unconscious… but yet saw which direction they went by saying that he came to as they were taking off with his kid. You would not change your story about these facts. Since you would either wake up as they were taking your kid in which time you would jump up and run after them… or be unable to get up. Yet he had not stated either as fact.

But as far as that camera. I think that could be enough for police to take action. Because… IF was walking in that area without the baby…. Either he never had the baby (which I think) or he lied about being knocked unconscious and being stuck sitting in the street since he was WALKING.
Either way, that camera I think should be enough to get the ball rolling on charges. But that’s just my thought.

So look as his response. It doesn’t matter if the camera didn’t show you in the Alley. You claim you had your kid. That video shows you with out the kid. So if it was before, you clearly lied and didn’t have your son with you. If it was after you lied… since you called 911 stating you were unconscious and could not even get up. So you were not walking then either. So you have lied. Now they need to probe the reason why.

RESPONSE TO CAMERAS:

“The camera doesn't see towards the alley, but there's witnesses out there saying that they seen this blue car and that they seen a young lady. That's more than enough proof right there,” Wilson explained.

And his description of the guy and well, lack of anything about the female….. He “remembers exactly” but describes his eyes? What about he had brown hair, etc etc etc. Nothing about his clothes. Just his eyes.

“I remember exactly what they look like. It was a white man. He had to be no younger than 30. He was bloodshot red eyes, aggressive. It looked like he was on drugs,” said Wilson.

"young lady" isn't so much politeness but just a way of describing a female age ~16-26 . terminology for females usually falls under extremes there's not much middle grond.

you got to allow for a few double negatives when that's normal speach patterns in a given community.

otherwise they may very well be guilty.

If I had been told that some surveillance camera showed me walking without my baby into someplace where I had really taken my baby (into Target, for example, which has the most comprehensive surveillance camera network that I can think of offhand, to the point of helping us to figure out what had happened to an item I paid for which the clerk mistakenly didn't put into my shopping bag), I would have said, "That's impossible." Because if the camera shows me at all, it's going to show me carrying my baby.

Anon.

While using the term “young lady” may be a normal way to describe a “young lady” by some, I think there are 2 things here you are not considering.

First is the context…...

This “young lady” just helped kidnap his kid…….If someone kidnapped my kid, I would have to be bleeped nonstop. I would be freaking out and I would not use a normal term to describe the kidnappers. Period. And I am a very respectful soft spoken polite person in my normal day to day life. BUT…. if someone kidnapped MY son…I would turn into a crazy psycho!!!! If a “young lady” helped take my son away, I would be calling her the worst names out there. Even on this blog, I struggle to use normal terms for the guilty. I often use the word monster instead of man for example and these crimes are not personal to me. I don’t think if he was telling the truth he would use that to describe her.

Second is the person saying it…..

Peter always talks about how an interviewer needs to learn the persons language.

Well… This is a poorer neighborhood. I am just being honest….. As a child I lived in a poor neighborhood. Men in general did not call women “young ladies”. They often used words like “chick”, “bi#$T“, who#$ etc. They were TYPCIALLY disrespectful. Not polite. Now, I don’t know this guy, I am only talking about what was “normal” for poorer neighborhoods.

Yes, there are always good and bad no matter where you live, but I think we would need to know his normal language and if that is how he would normally even describe a young female.

I for some reason do not see this guy using a term like that normally to describe a “young lady”. So in that case, then we have him using language he would not normally use, to describe the person that helped kidnap his son. Sorry but I don’t think so.

I have looked for mom and dads facebook page as you can often get a better feel for their language. There are just too many people by that name. But I will keep looking.

I have this vision in my head about the people WIllie has accused, more so if he has made them up.

I see a white man smoking a cigarette laughing and having a good time, driving, in his blue car, talking and enjoying time with his hispanic girlfriend, then all the sudden the radio says "a white man and a hispanic woman took my son in a blue car"

They look at each other with eyes wide open and jaw dropped.

-------------------------------------------

Something that bothers me is related to the description of the getaway car.

How would a 20 something black male know what a Ford Taurus is? unless he has owned one (family, or friend) even then, after the butt of a gun knocks you out, you probably would have no idea what kind of car it was.... were they so close and he could read it? Just saying that it is not a common car or that he would have any clue.

It is really hard to analyze any kind of "broken english" that the victims speak. They refer to "my son", "he be stolen", etc.

It is like using a map drawn with crayons and cardboard as GPS.

I saw the video of Delano's parents.

They cried and said that they were accused of killing their son. The mother kept her eyes shut most of the time, so did the father, covering his face like he was trying to force tears.

I have yet to hear the mother cry out her baby's name.

They seem more interested in their alibi.

Video, is the parents walking, with Ten Point Coalition, aside them families, neighbors. Willie Wilson, shown, he is being held up to walk, they to go back to the alley. When is the charade going to stop.

Sgt Sgt. Kendale Adams his statement, that WE Impd know with this case people on those streets know what happened. The Ten Point Coalition offering themselves to speak to the persons in the neighborhood, attempting to gain confidence. IMPD they know, No Snitches is why they have no credible leads, to lead them to Delano. Willie is shown in the video, as the victim. He shown as if he can't walk, then he is smiling receiving hugs. He eating up the attention last night. He is the key holder, he the last person said with Delano.

Press: On Friday evening, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) and Ten Point Coalition were visible again in the neighborhood. IMPD’s Southwest District even held a roving roll call there.

“We just want to let everybody in that neighborhood know, we haven’t forgotten about them. This is still a very important case to the police department. The detectives are working around the clock on that and tracking down every possible lead,” said Commander David Hofmann of the Southwest District.

“We just want to let people in that area know we are looking after them. We care about them,” he said.

The Ten Point Coalition was also out in the neighborhood for their faith walk on Friday.

The group, along with baby Delano’s father and mother, walked to the alley where the father says he was pistol-whipped before a couple ran away with his baby. The couple didn’t want to speak on camera Friday evening.

“Our presence is still to make a plea,” said Pastor Horacio Luster.

Luster said they’re hoping people will come forward with information they haven’t yet told police.

Also helping Ten Point on Friday was a family who says they know what it’s like to lose a child to violence.

“My baby sister passed away,” said 11-year-old Juanito Ewers. “I know how it feels for their family. I know how it feels for them to miss their baby.”

Over the past week and two days, IMPD has searched the neighborhood, nearby woods and a portion of the White River for baby Delano. They canceled the Amber Alert last Friday.

This Monday, they served a search warrant at the parent’s home and then Tuesday, another search.

Officers say they’ll work until they find baby Delano.

“I can tell you there are detectives and uniform officers, that’s their number one priority right now to solve that case,” said Commander Hofmann.
