Laurence Fishborne's Mother and Statement Analysis

Laurence Fishburne’s mother says she’s facing eviction
Which is more news worthy, a wealthy actor who buys his mother lots of stuff, or one who doesn't?

There is more here than meets the eye. The following is an article along with quotes.  I have added emphasis to the quotes and Statement Analysis to the article in bold type.

Yet, is there missing information here?  Some statement analysis of the author of the article might help.

Laurence Fishburne’s mother says she’s facing eviction

Laurence Fishburne, call your mother.
I hate to be the one to break the news. But the woman who gave life to the talented actor, who said she emptied her retirement savings account so her only child would grow into a star, director, producer and playwright, claims she’s down on her luck.

Note the author wrote "said" as not as definitive as the biological fact that began her writing.

Hattie Crawford Fishburne, 80, told me that, unable to pay the rent for several months, she’s received written notice informing her she’ll be evicted from her Los Angeles apartment Tuesday.

And she said she can’t reach her wealthy son, with whom she last spoke more than a year ago when his father died.

“He’s gone Hollywood!” Hattie Fishburne told me.

"He's gone" is not "he went."
Please note that Laurence Fishborne has been a Hollywood star for many years.

“For 20 years, I funded my son’s career,’’ she said. “He promised me he would take care of me. He promised me a house, a golden retriever, a calico cat. To this day, I have not got a Christmas present or a ‘Thank you, Mama’ present. He hasn’t given me a penny.
“I’m so hurt and disappointed.”

Please note the context of the article:  Eviction.
Now, note the order that the mother says she has not received:
1.   "house" and not a "home", nor rent paid.
b.   Golden Retriever
c.  Calico Cat.
d.  Christmas present
e.  "Thank you, Mama"

Absent is any concern for her current home's rent.

Laurence Fishburne, 53, is riding high, playing Earl “Pops” Johnson and executive producing the hit ABC-TV sitcom “Black-ish,” and appears as Jack Crawford, an FBI special agent, in “Hannibal” on NBC. He plays Daily Planet editor Perry White in the upcoming movie “Superman v. Batman: Dawn of Justice,’’ reprising a role he played in the 2013 flick “Man of Steel.” He was Morpheus in “The Matrix” movie trilogy, and was nominated for an Oscar for his starring role as the wife-abusing musician Ike Turner in the 1993 flick “What’s Love Got to Do with It.’’
The man sometimes called “Fish” is estimated by the website Celebrity Net Worth to possess a personal fortune of $20 million.

Rather than report his wealth, the writer gave a lengthy list of recent successes.

Hattie Fishburne raised her son almost single-handedly in New York City. Mother and child settled in Park Slope, Brooklyn, moving there from Georgia after Hattie divorced her son’s dad, Laurence Fishburne Jr., when the kid was young. Now she insists that her only child, officially named Laurence Fishburne III, has forsaken her.

“I was a damn good teacher, honey,’’ said Hattie, who said she was fired as a New York City public school math and science junior high school teacher in the ’90s after getting beaten up by a little girl, then accused falsely of beating up her principal.

Note the need to boast "damn good teacher" should cause the analyst to learn if she had been legitimately terminated.

(A spokesman for the city’s Department of Education could not locate any records.)

She then moved to California, resumed teaching and retired in 2009.
Now, she said, she can’t pay her $1,500 monthly rent with her pension and Social Security benefits of $3,000 a month, and suffers from arthritis, an underactive thyroid and high cholesterol, and has difficulty walking after a “catastrophic” car accident.

I can’t buy food, clothing and shelter, go to the theater,” she said.

Note on her list of what she cannot buy:

1.  Food
2.  Clothing
3.  Shelter:  how does one "buy shelter" if she is living in her apartment?
Note the inclusion of "go to the theater" in her complaints.

“I haven’t bought a dress since I retired. I need to find a benefactor.’’

This should cause the writer to question the mother's statements.  Generally, people facing eviction have more on their mind than buying a new dress.

Laurence Fishburne started acting professionally on stage, at his mother’s urging, at age 10, was cast in the TV soap opera “One Life to Live’’ by 12, and broke into the movies at 14. As legend has it, at age 14, he conned his way into winning the role of Tyrone “Clean” Miller in the 1979 flick “Apocalypse Now” by telling director Francis Ford Coppola that he was 18. Billed as “Larry Fishburne,” the vertically gifted lad — he now stands 6 feet and a half-inch tall — traveled to the Philippines for filming with his mom in tow.

We now have a bit more insight:

Modal Trigger
body language analysts should recognize this posturing
But in 1994, Hattie made news when she said she was being evicted from her Brooklyn home — she told me she was forced to live with a female friend for two years. Laurence has not spoken publicly about this. But in 1999, he accompanied his mom to Washington, DC, for the Kennedy Center Honors awards gala. A picture of the pair posing with President Bill Clinton is one of Hattie’s most treasured possessions.

Laurence praised his mother in a 2000 interview with Cigar Aficionado magazine.

“I’ve got to tell you, my mother is very bright.  I mean she’s got a really, really amazing mind. Now I’m a really smart guy. I’m bright. I know s- -t from shinola. And all that I get from her.”

Note the sensitivity about his mother being "bright" and having an "amazing mind" being connected with discernment from "s to shinola", an expression often used to show that one can discern a liar, or a scammer, or trouble.

There is, perhaps, a cleverness to Laurence Fiscborne's mother that Mr. Fiscborne may qualify as...

manipulation?

So what happened?
The manager of Hattie’s apartment building told me only that “things have changed.” But Hattie believes she’ll still be evicted. Laurence’s rep told me the actor is shooting “Hannibal” in Toronto and could not be reached for comment.

"Things have changed" is passive, which seeks to conceal identity or responsibility.
This may lead us to wonder:

Did Mr. Fishborne pay the back rent and not want it revealed?

One may also wonder:

Is his mother deliberately attempting to persuade media in order to get more money from him?

Laurence Fishburne has a daughter with his current wife and a son and daughter from a previous union. That daughter, Montana, has said her dad stopped speaking to her after she started acting in porn films in 2010 at age 18, a career she’s given up. She was spotted last year working as a stripper in Texas.
Can this family be saved?
I am not equipped to act as a counselor for the Fishburne clan. But somebody’s got to do it.

"Laurence Fishborne, 53..."

"As legend has it, at age 14, he conned his way into winning the role of Tyrone “Clean” Miller in the 1979 flick “Apocalypse Now” by telling director Francis Ford Coppola that he was 18."

There are some discrepancies here. If he was 14 when Apocalypse now was being filmed in 1979 (granted it could have been filming for years prior, but still no clarification), that means he would have been born in 1965 which would make him now 50. Why is he being reported as being 53?

You should note that what only he was able to say about his mother is that she is very bright. Wouldn't that qualify as "unexpected". I find that most actors talk about how instrumental and supportive their mother was, throw athletes into the mix too. On a personal level, I have often described a certain relative that I have as being "really smart", often as a subtle way to warn the unsuspecting individual of what to expect. So the best complement he had was that she was really bright is interesting.

A simple google search confirms it was filmed in 1976.

Gun went off, Mason caller tells 911

Mason police are investigating after a 56-year-old woman was found dead at a home on Mackenzie Court.

Police originally responded to reports of a shooting around 6:45 a.m. in the 4200 block of Mackenzie Court, officials said.

The death is considered "questionable" and an investigation is underway, Sgt. Craig Kline of the Mason Police Department said. An unidentified man was taken to the police station and is being questioned.

The woman's husband called 911 around 6:45 a.m. Monday and told emergency dispatchers that he needed an ambulance because his wife had been shot.

"I was getting ready for work and I came in and she was standing there with the gun," the man, who identified himself as Tim Sparks, told dispatchers.

"I said, 'what are you doing?' " he told dispatchers.

The man then told dispatchers that he tried to take the shotgun away from her and the gun went off. He didn't know who pulled the trigger, he says in the 911 call.

Although this is not a direct quote i have highlighted it anyway.

"She had the gun," Sparks said. "I tried to take it away from her. I have no idea."

Sparks told dispatchers that the woman was shot in the chest and was bleeding a lot.

Dispatchers remained on the line with Sparks for around 7 minutes. Dispatchers walked him through how to place a towel on the gunshot wound, how to check if his wife was breathing and how to perform CPR.

At the beginning of the call, Sparks said his wife was still breathing, but later he couldn't see her chest moving.

"Can you feel a pulse?" the dispatcher asked.

"I don't feel anything," the man said.

Minutes later, he's heard saying, "Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god. Come on baby. Look at me baby."

The call ends just after police are heard arriving.

The home is owned by Timothy and Susan Sparks, according to the Warren County Auditor's Office. They purchased the home in 2000 for $642,249, according to property records.

Mackenzie Court is right of Butler Warren Road. A sign outside the community read "Pinehurst at the Heritage Club."

Police remained at the home until 11 a.m. or later Monday morning investigating.

I found an article in the New Yorker from 1995 that claims his mother was in the tabloids then for claiming she was about to get evicted from her NYC apartment. It said Laurence didn't speak to or about his mother.

"He's gone" is not "he went."
Please note that Laurence Fishborne has been a Hollywood star for many years.

IMO, there is a difference between “He’s ‘gone’ hollywood” and “He went to Hollywood to be a ’star'”.

Generally speaking, he’s “gone” Hollywood means, “hollyweird”. As in self-absorbed, selfish, egocentric, indulgent, paid friends, posse, bought “into” the brand, calls paparazzi ahead of time for photo ops to stay media relevant.

I agree that immediate concern for her rent to be paid is absent. However, I think she’s going back to the beginning. As in, she cashes everything out and he’s suppose to repay her in kind “some day". i.e.,

security = a house (paid for)
companionship (cat and dog)
a thought (Christmas present/Mother’s Day)

Shelter = a roof over her head/rent (public housing vernacular)
theatre = a ticket to show up for her son

Re dress… If you’ve ever been to a Pentecostal church, the women and young ladies/little girls are dressed in their finest for the Lord. It’s culturally important they show up in their “Sunday best”.

I have no idea what is what between these two. But given “hollyweird” boundaries do get blurred and loyalties do falter (what people do for money). He may be acknowledging shinola as not doubt he is a cottage industry now and she is just “another” hangeron. And she may just as easily be shaming him. Either way, IMO, it’s an industry to be avoided.

Fishburne's mother, Hattie, a math and science teacher, raised him in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn, then a working-class neighborhood. She and her husband, Laurence Fishburne Jr., a juvenile corrections officier in Georgia, had separated before the birth of their son. Young Laurence Fishburne III went to public and private schools and, when his career dictated it, his mother provided home tutoring.

His mother also took him to auditions. "My mom was really astute in observing that I was very happy and at home when I was performing. I feel fortunate that she was paying attention."

"Acting was a real escape from what was going on," added Fishburne, who never had any formal training. "I'm still working through some of that stuff. I really felt the absence of my father. But he would visit once or twice a month and take me to the movies. I'd go home and act out the parts. That's partially how I learned to act. It took me six years to realize I wanted it to be my vocation."

He came to that decision when he was 17, after working with the director Francis Ford Coppola for three years on the Vietnam war film Apocalypse Now. At the audition, the 14-year-old Fishburne had lied about his age, easily passing for 16. He ended up in the Philippines, working with Marlon Brando, Martin Sheen, Dennis Hopper and Frederic Forrest.

"It changed me in so many ways," Fishburne said. "I learned everything I could about acting. It was so exciting. I was completely free and fearless."

Anonymous said...

His mother, however, was also there, tutoring him. She wasn't happy with his new attitude and called his father to join them in the Philippines. "My dad was the disciplinarian - he was a corrections officer," Fishburne said. "But by then I was 16, almost my full height [6 feet 1], and thought I was somebody. So I wasn't quite as afraid of him as I used to be. I think he was impressed and just wanted to be there."

When he returned to the U.S. in 1978, Fishburne had little in common with his classmates at Lincoln Square Academy. Instead, he hung out with a different sort: "Some of them were ex-dope fiends, one guy had been a bag man," he said. "They were much older than I was. They carried so much stuff with them. I was fascinated. There were the guys who never got off the street corner. My movie [Once in the Life] is about them."

But now Fishburne was having difficulty finding work. His lack of maturity finally was catching up to him. "I had a 1000-yard stare that said, 'If you don't give me that part, I'll kill you,'" he recalled. "It didn't go over big. I'd just spent three years on Apocalypse Now and thought I was he greatest actor. Plus, I was 17 and looked 27."

His harsh attitude and adult looks effectively limited his choices, and Hollywood dictated that he play heavies. He appeared in Death Wish II and A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 and three more Coppola-directed films: Rumble Fish, The Cotton Club and Gardens of Stone. "It made me a little resentful that I couldn't play parts my own age or the boy next door," he said.

When Fishburne was 23, he married Hajna Moss, a casting director: "She told me, 'You know, you've got a really bad attitude. You go into auditions like people owe you a job. Nobody owes you anything. If you get a job, it's because you were right for the part or you put your best foot forward.'"

"I was like, 'Really, I'm like that?' That gave me the awareness. But the change was gradual. It took me about nine months to figure out what I was doing. I became more reasonable and more at ease with myself. I got rid of the chip on my shoulder."

In 1988, Fishburne landed his biggest, most positive role, playing a college activist in Spike Lee's School Daze. Three years later, he moved into the ranks of leading men with his performance as Furious Styles, a young father determined to turn his son into a responsible man, in John Singleton's Boyz N the Hood. Throughout the late 1980s, he worked nonstop - but it came at a price.

In 1991, his six-year marriage ended. By then he had a son, Langston, and a daughter, Montana. Fishburne aggressively protects the privacy of hi ex-wife and even refused to give the ages of their children. He did, however, discuss some of his problems with relationships.

"I think in relationships with women I'm chicken," he said. "It's the hardest dynamic for me. I know that goes back to the primary relationship - the relationship to Mom." He added warily: "It's just mom stuff." Fishburne's relationship with his mother reportedly has been acrimonious for years. I asked if they were talking. He would only say, "No."

I'd like to add that this is why parents elect to be their kids' managers and therefore are written into their kids' contracts so as to earn a % of their earnings *up front*. Otherwise, if you're cashing everything out of your life savings to pay for hotels/gas/travel, etc. in order to get them into the business, with the expectation of a return "someday", I'd say, "don't count on it."

Why does he misspell the names of so many people he dislikes? McCollum (McCollom), Barak (Barack), Witlach (Whitlatch), sometimes Bill Cosby was "Crosby", Shia LaBouf/LaBeouef/LaBouef (LaBeouf). Fishborne (Fishburne). It's so cute :-)

Teachers usually retire with great benefits and if they manage their money well, can live comfortably without needing help from others.

She said she was fired after "getting beaten up by a little girl"... This is an outrageous statement. Teachers do not get fired for being "beaten up" and the term "little girl" is unexpected and begs for an explanation. Was this a student of hers? There is a lot of missing information here.

And then she was accused falsely of beating up her principal? Unusual circumstances to say the least!

“I haven’t bought a dress since I retired. I need to find a benefactor." Finding a "benefactor" seems like an odd conclusion to come to. How likely is that?

“He’s gone Hollywood!” could mean one thing to one person and another thing to another- what does she mean by it, exactly?

I think it is extremely manipulative to go to the media instead of to her son. We assume she must be very desperate to have done such a thing but there can be other motivations to do something like this.

She says that her son hasn't given her a list of particular things, including "a penny." Does that mean he has not given her any support in any way at all? She didn't say he didn't give her a 'thank you' - she said he didn't give her 'a thank you present.' Does the present mean more than the thank you?

There could be volumes of information under these sentences. Very sad however you look at it.

Mr. Hyatt, I have relatives I have just plain given up on. My uncle, in particular, is a user and bottomless, needy manipulator.

I don't care to have my acrimonious relationship with him "counseled" because I've determined that until he helps himself, any contact with him is flat out unhealthy for me.

If I suddenly found myself with boundless resources, I might be compelled to anonymously save his house but that's about it.

It definitely sounds like someone from Mrs. Fishbourne's camp put this out there. The bragging on his behalf could be a sign of familial pride by association or it could be a manipulative attempt to gain his attention by deliberately putting terms in there that would draw him to look while googling himself.

"Is his mother deliberately attempting to persuade media in order to get more money from him?"

Yes, it seems like.
The mother going to the media to complain and trying to embarass her son publicly, tells it all.

His mother sounds like a idiot and I wouldn't give her a dime. His daughter sounds like she's on drugs; porn and stripping and drugs---trifecta. I bet he'd pay for rehab happily.

I think it's quite easy to see that his mother will use any means to control her son. Reading what the commenter posted, she also lied about his age, she was along on auditions and sets. She called in his father when he "felt free." Now she's using media to shame him. It also looks like she was more than happy to push him into acting, but expected to be along for the ride. She needs to get her claws out of her son, and understand children are not raised for her benefit.

The case of the 'Gone Girl' physiotherapist and her boyfriend who were accused of staging her kidnapping has taken another strange twist – a group who are claiming to be the kidnappers have demanded an apology from the police.

Densie Huskins, 29, was allegedly snatched from her home by kidnappers who tied her boyfriend up on March 23, then released one day later 400 miles away beside her parents' home.

After her ‘release’ police accused them of staging the kidnapping – a claim they both strongly denied.

Now the San Francisco Chronicle has received a string of anonymous emails from the apparent kidnappers.

In an email the kidnappers write; 'I/we may be the direct agent of harm. But it will be made crystal clear that the Vallejo Police Department, and you, Mr. [Kenny] Park, had every opportunity to stop it.'

Last week Lt. Park, the spokesman for the Vallejo Police Department, said that the kidnapping of Huskins, which triggered a statewide search that involved 100 volunteers, 40 detectives and numerous FBI agents, was an 'orchestrated event.'

The letter to the Chronicle says authorities have until noon on Tuesday to apologize.

It also demands that the police make clear that neither Huskins or her boyfriend Aaron Quinn - who was with her at the time she was allegedly kidnapped but waited 12 hours to call police - will face any criminal charges.

As for the main reason behind the kidnapping, they write; 'The Mare Island kidnapping was a training mission to test means and methods that would be used on higher net worth targets.'

It is not the first email the allegedkidnappers have sent the paper either, also reaching out to them on March 24 with an audio file of Huskins to prove she was still alive one day after being taken from her home in Mare Island.

She eventually turned up in Huntington Beach, where both of her parents live, just a few hours later.

This latest email, sent on Saturday from a dummy account, was 9,000 words long, and detailed why the group kidnapped Huskins, and how they went about taking her from her home.

The group consists of three members, two with college educations, and they claim they are also behind a recent string of burglaries and car thefts in the area.

Tania Cadogan said...

They claim they drilled holes in the window of Huskins and Quinn's home to gain entry, and then used squirt guns with 'strobe flashlights and laser pointers' attached to them to make it appear as if they were firearms.

They say they played 'calming music' as they went about the abduction, and put monitors on Quinn, 30, so they could make sure he did not go to police.

They then say they put Huskins in the trunk of Quinn's car and drove off with her.

In the end however, they claim it was a case of mistaken identity, and they did not mean to take Huskins, thinking that someone else would be in the house.

They say that is why they decided to drop her off in Huntington Beach and that they were 'horrified at what we had done.'

As for the ransom they requested, what police believe to be a rather paltry $8,500, the group said; 'We chose $8,500 because it was below the $10,000 reporting threshold, and far enough below that it likely would not be flagged as part of a structured transaction under that prong of the reporting law.'

Attorneys for both Quinn and Huskins claim that their clients have confirmed aspects of this email, and that they have sent photos of the holes drilled in the window that the kidnappers used to gain access to prove that whoever sent this note is telling the truth.

Huskins' attorney, Doug Rappaport, said that the reason police called the incident a hoax is because the kidnappers used 'sophisticated computer skills' that neither they or the FBI could 'comprehend.'

Lt. Park, the Vallejo Police Department and the FBI all have yet to comment on the emails

Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3019644/Gone-Girl-kidnappers-threaten-police-claiming-direct-agent-harm-authorities-not-apologize-calling-incident-hoax.html

This gets better and better, now the alleged kidnappers , who could have gotten away with a serious crime are now miffed because the police don't believe it happned and want the police to investigate the crime and pursue them.

Someone is digging a very large hole for themselves and i supect it will be her and her boyfriend or friends of theirs.

Emails will reveal lots of info in the headers as to where they came from and which account.

DOH!

4-YEAR-OLD SEEKING SLUSHIE FOUND ALONE AT 3 A.M.

A 4-year-old girl was found all alone in the middle of the night, and it turns out she ventured out on her own in search of a frozen treat.

TACONY, Pa. -- A 4-year-old girl was found all alone in the middle of the night in Northeast Philadelphia, and it turns out she ventured out on her own in search of a frozen treat.

It all began around 3 a.m. Friday on Torresdale Avenue near Cottman in the Tacony neighborhood. That's where a man flagged down SEPTA's 56 bus, telling the driver about the little girl he found.

SEPTA surveillance video shows little Annabelle stepping onto the bus wearing a purple coat and snow boots.

"Got to be kidding me! At this time, at 3 o'clock on the morning," said driver Harlan Jenifer said. "She's a small little thing. It kind of just shocked me."

He called police while bus passengers comforted the child, who let them know what her early morning mission was.

"All I want is a slushie, that's all she said!" said Jenifer.

Within an hour, little Annabelle was back with her shocked parents - and they've since reconfigured their door locks.

Annabelle, however, seemed to be concerned that her slushie quest was interrupted.

"Mom, can you take me to Wawa and get me a slushie?" she later asked her mother, Jaclyn Mager.

"I will take you to Wawa and get you a slushie," Jaclyn responded. "But listen, promise me next time you'll wait for me, okay?"

"Yeah," Annabelle agreed, giving her mom a hug.

Her father, Timothy Ridgeway, says it's only too easy to imagine how differently this could have turned out.

"My mind is wanting to go places, it's hard not to," said Ridgeway. "Thank God for the bus driver."

Jaclyn said this will be Annabelle's first and last solo adventure. She repeatedly thanked all who helped bring her home safely.

"There are no words, he saved my daughter's life," she said of bus driver Harlan Jenifer.

"I'll be forever grateful."

Statement: San Bernardino Woman Addresses Her Disappearance After Being Found Safe

The following is a statement released Thursday by Sahray Barber, a 22-year-old woman who was found safe after a 10-day disappearance earlier this month.

I need to start by thanking everyone.

To my family and friends, the entire San Bernardino Police Department, any and all the government officials and organizations, and everyone that prayed and assisted in finding me. Thank you. Thank you so much for all the love and support, and all the time, effort and resources you put into brining me home. Most of all I need to thank God. I felt God’s protection and guidance the whole way, and I know I wouldn’t have made it unharmed through all I did without it. I ask for every ones forgiveness, most especially my wonderful family for all the worry and long nights I caused you, and all the amazing men, women, dogs and horses that searched for me through so many nights and days.

I was honestly shocked when I learned from S.B.P.D. personnel and my family all that had been done to locate me. I expected to be another missing person’s case and, having not planned to return, I’d chosen not to look back or pay any mind to any searches or investigations related to my disappearance. I never could have imagined any of this, just like I had no clue what the impact of my leaving would have on so many lives.

I have always striven to do my best in school. In High School, like a lot of people, I felt the all expectations and pressures that came with achieving and maintaining a high GPA. I graduated High School with Honors. Since I started my Associates in Graphic Design, I’ve had my share of easy and tough classes, and good and bad quarters, some of which I felt I barely made it through. I’d received some scary low grades in one quarter but I felt good going into my final quarter.

Really good actually, I felt I had a great recipe for a successful conclusion to my first leg of college. Unfortunately, I tried to keep myself standing tall as I was hit by the various stresses, pressures, class deadlines, and life challenges I was inexperienced in such as: losing my vehicle in a traffic accident and having to rely on friends and family for transportation, my computer equipment and software needed to complete my assignments becoming inoperable and having a hard time keeping up with my class work as a result, and through all of this the ever looming portfolio show and end of my job.

By not reaching out to family or even school officials, I created a recipe for disaster. I was supposed to be graduating, but instead of having my perfect quarter, things fell apart. I was scared and it felt like the whole world was pressing down on me. Things got so bad that I didn’t know what to say or HOW to ask for help. I had dug a hole so deep, that I felt entirely hopeless. That Monday morning (March 9, 2015) when I reached the gate, I felt I needed to lighten my load. I didn’t intend on ever coming back or being found so I dropped my stuff over the wall and walked away with just a bit of cash. Eventually public transportation and God’s guidance took me to Los Angeles.

During the 10 days I was gone, God brought me in contact with many people in Los Angeles. I could feel his guidance and protection through them. Some of them were like angels, helping me stay alive, or teaching me the things God had brought me there to learn. To everyone I met in L.A. who helped me in even the smallest way whether you know it or not, I would like to thank you all very much as well.

The majority of my time in L.A. was spent in two different hospitals under a fictitious name. On the day I was released from the second hospital, I was blessed by making the acquaintance of another angel. She had no idea who I was, she just realized I wasn’t where I belonged and wanted to help me. She convinced me to open up to her and then to let her call my dad. She was like God’s messenger telling me my journey was complete and it was time to return home.

In closing, I know what I did was incredibly dumb and that I am only here by the grace of God. But I am not at all ashamed of what I did. I know that I did what I had to do, and went where I needed to be. Now I know I am back where I belong and I have a new appreciation for myself and for all of the amazing people that I have in my life. I have and am getting the help and support I need as I now work on getting my life back on track.

God Bless with Sincere Love and Many Thanks,

-Sahray Barber

The father of missing Minnesota fourth-grader Barway Collins took out a $30,000 life insurance in his son's name before the boy vanished nearly two weeks ago, it emerged today.

Barway Collins 10, was last seen after school March 18 near his apartment complex in Crystal. Police said they were working to find the boy and were checking flights to see whether he might have been sent overseas to his mother, believed to be in Liberia.

Last week, Police Chief Stephanie Revering named Barway's father, Pierre Collins, a suspect in the child's disappearance, saying the man who was seen weeping at a vigil has not been entirely honest with investigators.

Mr Collins has stopped talking to the press about his son's suspected abduction amid mounting suspicions concerning his alleged involvement in the case.

Fox 9 reported Tuesday that according to sources, Mr Collins, 33, took out a life insurance policy in Barway's name totaling $30,000 not long before the child went missing.

Police said the father failed a lie-detector test last week, but he has not been arrested or charged with any crime as of Tuesday morning.

Pastor Harding Smith, who has been acting as the family's spokesperson, said Collins has told him he had nothing to do with his son's abduction.

In a recent interview with CNN's Nancy Grace, Collins said he last saw Barway as he was getting ready for school on the morning of March 18

Police have released a video of Barway riding a bus after school. In the video, the boy said 'there's my dad' and 'there's my uncle.'

'The father and the party described as an ‘uncle’ are likely the last known people to have seen Barway,' Revering said, as reported by the Star-Tribune. 'Unfortunately, we have reason to believe that Barway’s father has not been completely truthful with us.'

Addressing the footage on the bus, Pierre Collins explained to Nancy Grace that in the Liberian community, children commonly refer to adults as 'uncle' or 'auntie.'

When pressed by Grace about the failed polygraph test, Collins explained that he was 'very emotional' during the test.

'I wasn't...myself when I took the polygraph,' he said.

Over the past 13 days, local police, federal agents and Hennepin County's sheriff's deputies have been searching the area for Barway with K-9 dogs, reviewing footage from surveillance cameras and interviewing family members and witnesses.

Officials are now focusing their search efforts along the Mississippi River south of Interstate 694, where Pierre Collins was spotted walking in a park after his son went missing.

A $12,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for Barway Collins' disappearance.

According to the Crystal Police Department, a man and woman pictured in a screen shot from a CCTV camera installed at the front entrance of the Cedarwood apartment complex may have witnessed Barway being dropped off from school.

So far, the mystery couple have not been named as suspects or even persons of interest in the case.

While law enforcement officials continued searching for the missing fourth-grader, members of Crystal's Liberian community were busy handing out fliers featuring Barway's picture to help bring him home.

At around 5pm last Monday, more than 100 people gathered outside Cedarwood apartments for an emotional prayer vigil.

'We miss Barway,' his father, Pierre Collins, told the crowd. 'Barway has been gone for a very long time now. We are begging and asking everyone to look out there.'

Chief Revering also attended the gathering, promising Barway's family to continue looking for him until he is found, according to Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Barway was reported missing by his father at around 6.30pm on March 18 after the child failed to come home from school. A call to the school bus company revealed that the 10-year-old was dropped off outside his building at around 4.15pm.

Mr Collins and his wife, Yamah, said the entrance surveillance camera caught their son opening the front door to the building, looking inside and then closing it, as if someone called him outside.

'Please just bring him back. We just want Barway back. We don't want anything from them. Just let him go. Just let him come home,' the parents begged, according to KARE11.

Collins is described as 5 feet tall, weighing 80lbs with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, white T-shirt, black pants, red shoes and carrying a red school backpack.

Anyone with information on Barway Collins' whereabouts is being asked to call police.

Off topic ( it's getting better by the minute)

The kidnapper who claims to have masterminded the Gone Girl kidnapping of Denise Huskins in California says he will turn himself in, but only if his co-conspirators are given immunity.

In yet another email to the San Francisco Chronicle, the individuals wrote that police could accept this offer, or that he would 'go overseas and teach English' or 'live off the grid and read books for the rest of my life.'

This came just one day after the group demanded an apology from the police for calling the entire incident a hoax.

Huskins, 29, was allegedly snatched from her home by kidnappers who tied her boyfriend up on March 23, then released one day later 400 miles away beside her parents' home.

After her 'release' police accused them of staging the kidnapping – a claim they both strongly denied.
In the email from earlier in the week, the kidnappers write; 'I/we may be the direct agent of harm.

The letter to the Chronicle says authorities had until noon on Tuesday to apologize.

That time came and went however, and this new email arrived Tuesday afternoon.

The old email had demanded that the police make clear that neither Huskins or her boyfriend Aaron Quinn - who was with her at the time she was allegedly kidnapped but waited 12 hours to call police - will face any criminal charges.

As for the main reason behind the kidnapping, they write; 'The Mare Island kidnapping was a training mission to test means and methods that would be used on higher net worth targets.'

They then compare themselves to the cast of Ocean's 11, the famous caper film that starred members of the Rat Pack when it premiered in 1960 and Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and George Clooney in the 2001 remake.

It is not the first email the alleged kidnappers have sent the paper either, also reaching out to them on March 24 with an audio file of Huskins to prove she was still alive one day after being taken from her home in Mare Island.

As for the ransom they requested, what police believe to be a rather paltry $8,500, the group said: 'We chose $8,500 because it was below the $10,000 reporting threshold, and far enough below that it likely would not be flagged as part of a structured transaction under that prong of the reporting law.'

Lt. Park, the Vallejo Police Department and the FBI all have yet to comment on the emails.

Even the comments are saying it's a hoax and are generally mocking the abduction, surprising for daily mail readers :)

Well, a couple things to take into consideration:

She is 80 years old. We don't know her medical or psychological history. At 80, there are medical reasons that alter and adults physical health which can also affect their mental health. Her comments aren't rational. Losing your home and desiring a calico cat don't show the priorities of a woman who raised kids or taught school for a period of time.

Secondly, regarding the term "gone Hollywood." Wouldn't that be classified as a type of a regional expression, or something to that effect? It's more like saying "the blind leading the blind" which is used as an expression of illustration.

The rest of her comments sound manipulative. But her words show someone that is not all right in the head.

For heavens sakes. Have a heart for the elderly. This poor old woman is 80 years old.

Whether she has a monthly retirement benefit or not, her well-off son should have been giving her a regular stipend monthly for years. Say $2,000 a month wouldnt' have hurt the b'stard, that's only $24K annually. Then she wouldn't have had to struggle so hard the way she has.

It was SHE who made him what he is whether you like her or not; and no, it isn't right that she can't afford a movie, or a new dress. It just ain't right and that's all there is to it!

We have a case here which has, to put it bluntly, surprised me.

Domenico rancadore a mafia boss was sentenced in Italy for 7 years.
He has spent 20 years living in London and was fighting extradition from the UK since 2013.
It now turns out that because of a stroke of luck and good defense team the courts had a year from when he was arrested in the UK to extradite him, he managed to fight extradition on human rights grounds.
The Italians appealed but filed their appeal late which took up more time, the result is his sentence was extinguished.

The Italian Embassy said Rancadore's case "expired" last October.

Vincenzo Celeste, from the Italian Embassy, said while Rancadore's conviction for Mafia membership remained intact, Italian law states a sentence is considered expired once a period of more than double the time of the penalty has passed.

Karen Todner, Rancadore's solicitor, said the Italian Court of Appeal had agreed to extinguish the ongoing case on 31 March.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-32144720

Apparently if you evade arrest long enough, (whatever your sentence is, doubled) you don't have to serve your sentence although the conviction stilll remains.

I am disgusted that justice seems so easy to avoid if you have the money, the contacts or the sheer luck from cockeyed bureaucracy.

Basically it means that if knox had been found guilty and sentenced to the 28 yrs, if she had successfully fought extradition long enough and stayed within the States, after 56 years she would be home free with no sentence to serve.

Sadly Italy is a member of the EU like us and it is stuff like this that really ticks off us Brits (putting it in a ladylike manner)

Peter, I worried my age comment would be off target. I understand now that age does not change that she can knowingly lie and manipulate. I think it's sad and I have a soft spot for the elderly and I think it's a shame that they may had a bad history all his life and even more of a shame that she is cranky and mean and when she dies her son will be left with those memories. You are right, you caught my weak spot. I have a friend who went through this with her mom who just passed last month. It is heart breaking how a mom can hurt her family and then die leaving them with an unresolved past. I'm so grateful and blessed to have my parents.

Well Peter. You and the rest of you who have no compassion for this woman; just wait until you get to be this womans' age. You just might not look at her circumstances (OR your own!) quite the way you do now. The good, the bad, the ugly; life takes its' toll. It's not a pretty picture.

Actually, the woman ISN'T lying about her basic circumstances OR the part she played in her sons' earlier life and successes. Google for yourself. She has needed his help all along. Bully for her that she still has the ability to stand up and say so.

No excuse for her rat-fink son ignoring and not helping his own mother when he could have. His reputation? He deserves to be exposed for the POS he is. As to his future guilt? He won't feel a danged thing about the way he has made her grovel and publically humiliate herself. Will you? Be assured it comes home to roost on your own head. Comprende'?

To take it a step further: "Despise not they mother when she is old." It doesn't say it's okay to kick her in the teeth for her million and one lies, or not loving you like you thought she should have, or for humiliating you, or for sleeping with 100 men a week, or for beating you with a cane, or for giving you away after letting you go hungry and neglected.

Sure, some women ought to have their reproductive organs cut out with no anesthetic and allowed to bleed to death; but aren't their deeds written in the book of life just as ours are?

Your/our instructions remain: "Despise not thy mother when she is old." You are not accountable for what SHE did, only for yourself. Comprende'?

I did not say I did not have compassion on the mother, nor am I advocating not honoring thy mother, either.

Mom is lying and smearing her son.

This is wrong.

At what age is it now excusable?

Whatever answer you give is arbitrary.

The same not despising in her later years source says to

"speak ye every man the truth to his neighbor" and the mother is manipulating the willing press to slander her own son.

It is wrong.

This does not preclude compassion, empathy, or concern for her welfare.

She is not truthful about her rent.

Peter

GetThem,

it is not wrong for you to have a soft spot for the elderly. It is right.

My commenting is upon the selfishness of the woman. This does not negate the son's mandate to honor his mother, after all, what could is,

"Honor Thy Father and Mother" if it is easy?

I simply pointed out that she is deceptive about her rent.

The greater evil may be the NY Post who played into it.

I have seen children of abusive mothers show amazing compassion to their mothers later in life. It is a testimony to them.

Pointing out the mother's deception is not tearing her down, nor does it address "compassion."

Can you imagine re-defining compassion as not calling out liars?

I believe the Nazi hunters did the right thing in the last few decades seeking justice. Age does not negate justice.

Even in justice, there should be right treatment.

Good posts Peter, honest, forthright and heartfelt. Thank you for responding with empathy to my two anony posts in defense of this elderly mothers' present status in life.

She is alone and lonely now, she is weak, her health is declining and her mind is in turmoil fixating on the past. She has no future; only her past disappointments loom large in her memory, perhaps some memories are vague and slipping, perhaps others not, possibly slipping into dementia. She is utterly bewildered.

Her son is heartless and cruel not to keep in tough with her or to gladly do anything she needs. I think he has already proved this by the way he is treating his eighteen year old daughter as well. Do not actions speak louder than words?

You have no idea what Laurence Fishburne's life was like. Maybe he has good reason to be away from his mother. Looking at her and his words, I think he does.

Violence is introduced in the same statement as losing her teaching job. (Beaten by little girl; beat principal)

Laurence says his mother got him into acting. He thanks her for that, but note she's the one pushing and he says it helped with what was going on around him.

He got jobs lying about his age. Since his mother was right there with him, that means she lied, also.

Laurence says his attitude was that the world owed him until he changed it. It's easy to see where he got it, and she hasn't changed it.

Last, the mother lists material things she wants from her son. It stands out to me that she isn't asking for time or a relationship.

Just to weigh in here...I do not have much of an opinion about this mother, she seems manipulative...however, some people as they age soften but others DO NOT. I have seen one such individual refine their calculating sociopathic lying manipulation well into late middle age. It's very surprising as you would assume getting older, the person would run out of energy at least. Not true for some! If they've lived their whole lives perfecting the art of lying scapegoating evil manipulations covert attacks etc older age provides them better cover. "Who would suspect me?" Little old me!!' Think of the story of little red riding hood going to grandmother's house...except grandmother is really a wolf pretending to have poor vision. These individuals are scary as it's the relentless meanness and cruelty inside them that actially grows stronger with age. Very strange, and I dont know if Fishbourne's mother is as bad as what I describe, but age does not necessarily temper some people's desire to do evil stuff. Ive seen it and it NOT pretty.
