Crystal Rogers Case: Houck Named Suspect

Analysis of Brooks Houck, fiance of 35 year old Crystal Rogers, when he appeared on The Nancy Grace Show, indicated:

1.  That Crystal Rogers was deceased;

2.  The Brooks Houck was deceptive, and deliberately withholding information about her what happened to Crystal.

We then learned that Brooks Houck brother was suspended, and his vehicle impounded.  The following information has been released by the town.

If a lengthy interview transcript of Brooks Houck interview exists, it is possible that the location of Crystal Rogers' remains may be within the wording.

It is very difficult for anyone to suppress guilty knowledge of a crime during an interview.  This is because the subject goes into memory to answer questions, while carefully seeking to pick and choose his words and struggles to concentrate on what happened in one moment, while choosing words to avoid disclosure.

The mother of a 9-weeks-old boy who has been missing for more than a month and is now presumed dead has been charged with first-degree felony murder in the baby's slaying.

Kristen Bury, 32, made her first appearance in a Sarasota, Florida, court Saturday morning after being extradited from South Carolina the day before.

Bury faced a judge just three days after search teams acting on a tip found a body believed to be that of the missing Chance Walsh buried in shallow grave in a remote area of Sarasota County.

Medical examiners are currently trying to positively identify the remains.

Joseph Walsh, 36, baby Chance's father, was arrested along with Bury in Ridgeport, South Carolina October 6 on child neglect charges after the pair got into a car accident. Chance was not with them at the time.

Walsh is expected to be extradited to Florida to face charges in his son's death in the coming days.

According to a probable cause affidavit unsealed Saturday, Bury and Walsh revealed to detectives that Chance died in the early hours of September 16.

The couple told investigators they left Florida for South Carolina to 'start a new life,' reported ABC7.

According to the affidavit cited by News-Press, the weapons used in the alleged attack on baby Chance were 'hands/fist/feet,' suggesting that the infant had been beaten to death.

Last Thursday, Kristen Bury told police they would find her infant son's body buried in a wooded area in North Port, Florida, about 12 miles from their Sarasota County home.

An excavation of the site indicated by Bury yielded the body of a baby clad only in a diaper and a fragment of a blue surgical glove resembling gloves worn by Chance Walsh's father, according to the court documents.

In court Saturday, Bury kept her head down, using her long blond hair and her hands to shield her face from the cameras during the proceedings.

She is being held on $150,000 bond for a child neglect charge and no bond for the murder count. Bury was also ordered to have no contact with Joseph Walsh.

Chance Walsh was last seen September 9. Authorities said they became involved in the disappearance when Chance's grandmother, Sally Susino, called them October 4, concerned about the baby's well-being.

Bury's mother told officers she had tried and failed to locate the baby and that his parents told relatives contradicting stories that the boy was dead, and that they had given him away.

Police from the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office appealed for help in finding the boy, though a later search of the couple's home revealed blood spatter and evidence of a body.

According to an arrest report, seen by Fox 13, police found 'droplets of blood and evidence of blood spatter on the walls and ceiling and cadaver dogs indicated the presence of human remains'.

The probable cause affidavit, obtained by People, shows the couple had another son, Duane, who died a year ago.

Duane was 2 weeks old when he allegedly died of a kidney infection stemming from a botched circumcision, a family friend told the magazine.

The document says Bury had spoken to her stepmother about how she 'despised' Chance because he wasn't Duane, and admitted to having thoughts about hurting him.

That stepmother, Ms Susino, told police she had last seen baby Chance on September 9, almost a month after he was born.

She said she became concerned for the boy's welfare after such a long absence, and decided to try and locate him after hearing that Walsh and Bury had been in a car accident in South Carolina.

Doubtful her location will be found in the suspects speech as he most likely did not do the deed himself. Cops are a cowardly lot and would prefer to entice others to do the terrorism. I guessing a gaggle of serial killer got her.

cont.

According to police, the couple, who are described as 'longtime drug users', fed various stories to relatives after the crash, including that Chance 'was unharmed, that he died in the crash and that they gave him to a woman at a hotel in Georgia.'

Police said she and the baby's other grandmother, from the paternal side, had gone to the couple's house to try and find the boy, and when nobody was there they decided to call police.

Investigators following up the couple's stories confirmed that there was no baby with them when they crashed their car, and also no sign of Chance at the Red Carpet Inn hotel where they stayed.

However, police say they did speak to another guest of the hotel, a woman, who said Bury tried to sell her baby clothes, saying her child 'had died three weeks earlier'.

BARDSTOWN, Ky. —Months after Crystal Rogers, 35, a mother of five disappears, new details are emerging about the case. Court discovery was released Monday, days after Rogers' boyfriend was identified as a suspect and his brother, a police officer, was fired for interfering in the investigation.

Nearly 200 pages of documents and several hours of police interviews, hearings, and phone calls were included in the discovery.

Brooks Houck, the boyfriend of Rogers, had sat down with police for a two-hour long interview in the days following her disappearance. Because he had been the last person to see her alive and there were 'big gaps' in his timeline, a detective told him he had become the 'main person of interest.'

Houck is seen becoming emotional, saying his focus is the couple's 2-year-old son, Eli and the safe return of Crystal. Still, claiming his innocence, he agreed to cooperate.

"I don't need an attorney. I haven't asked for an attorney but this is really starting to get silly," he's heard telling a detective.

He said on the night of July 3, around 7 that evening, he had gone to his family farm with Crystal and their son to feed the livestock.

When investigators mention a burn pile a search dog has previously hit on, he also remembered lighting a trash fire.

"Did you burn anything Friday night?" the investigator asks.

Houck replies, "Yes, it's not uncommon. I don't want stuff piling up to the moon. I always light a fire."

A surveillance camera on his aunt's nearby home shows him leaving just before midnight. Houck says he had left with Crystal but when he wakes up the next morning he said she was gone.

"I didn't know what to think but yes, I called her. I called her that morning," he says.

Houck said he later returned to the farm and admitted to moving a bulldozer to the top of the driveway and then his brother, a police officer, calls.

Brooks Houck is heard on the phone telling Nick Houck, "I'm innocent. I haven't done anything wrong."

Still, the interview comes to an end. One week later, the man on the other line, Nick Houck, comes in to talk with police.

He is asked about that phone call and the trip the brothers made within two hours of Brooks Houck's interview. They had been captured on surveillance returning to the farm.

"What went on at the farm?" the investigator asks to which Nick Houck replies he cannot remember.

"Man, if I knew I'd tell you. I wish could give you a detailed statement," he said.

But during a nearly twohour interview, there was more. Investigators told Nick Houck neighbors had reported seeing him taking something out of his police cruiser in the days following Crystal's disappearance and then putting it into his mother's car.

A search dog hits on his police cruiser and the Kentucky State Police Crime Lab, according to investigators, found even more.

"There's a couple spots in your trunk and that blanket lit up like Chernobyl. Why would that be?" an investigator asks of apparent blood splatter discovered in the trunk.

Houck replies there would not be blood in the cruiser's trunk. The investigator presses on, "Okay, bodily fluids."

Houck said, "I don't have a clue."

He said he never helped move a body or helped to destroy evidence. He claims both he and his brother are innocent, "There's no way he could do something like that. He's not capable of it."

Law enforcement said last week Crystal Rogers is "presumed dead."

Still, her family is continuing their search, though they are scaling back their efforts.

Out-of-state search crews returned home Monday and Rogers' father, who is self-employed, went back to work.

Brooks is the suspect. His brother, Nick, was the cop.

The talk on the streets here in Nelson County is that Brooks will eventually be arrested and charged with Crystal's murder.
It is believed that her body was dropped into a sink hole on the family farm.

"I don't want stuff piling up to the moon."
When I read this statement, to me, it reinforced the idea that Crystal's body was somewhere under ground, unseen and dark..
It is an exaggeration that implies it was after nightfall when he did what he "always" does
People here often have burn piles that they ignite at dusk when there is no wind to cause a disruption or unwanted spreading of the fire.

They burn old wood, discarded rubbish, uprooted bushes, and unwanted furniture.

The word "stuff" jumped out at me like a frog on a nature path, in his statement. He is defensive and vague to withhold information.

Nick doesn't remember his conversation with Brooks, yet the police have proof that he discussed the investigation with him. I'm told through a reliable source at the Courier Journal newspaper the the police have text messages.
