Belief, Articulation and Action Part 3: Who Chooses The Jihadist?

In 1942 Germany, the most dominant political party was the National Socialists Party, or "Nazi", which was an extreme left wing form of socialism where the government dictated the social lives of tis people, married to an extremest right wing belief in the superiority of one nation.

The ideology of supremacy was against all, with specific hostility towards Jews.  This was their belief, which they spoke and carried it out, but by only a small portion of the population.

The ideology of supremacy in Islam is against all, which is why even when a country finally turns Islamic, violence continues, but it has specific hostility towards Jews.  Their belief is stated plainly in the teaching of the Koran, and is carried out but by only a small portion of the population.

We do not address persons but types, or ideology.

It is not the German who is in focus, but the ideology and the classic methods of 'brain washing' of youth.  Only a very small percentage of Germans carried out the killings of Jews.  Even among these, those who were coerced into it committed suicide.  The rest of the Nazis were largely silent lest they, too, meet the fate of the Jews.  Soldiers fought for the 'fatherland' while the tiny minority, held "special action" behind the scenes and without the knowledge of most of the German military.

It was not the German we focus upon, but the criminal ideology that brought forth the death of 6 million Jews.

It is not the Muslims in focus, but the ideology.  Only a small percentage of Muslims carry out killings, yet the killings, around the world, by the order of the ideology, has about 300 people dead each week, and about 300 seriously wounded.  Holidays show increase with Ramadan a deadly month.

Muslims, too  are often the victim of Islamic violence.

Koran, Surah 2:191: "Slay the infidels wherever you find them and drive them out of the places where you were driven out, for the sin of disbelief is worse than slaughter."

Jews and Christians are specified in the Koran for death.
Muslims who are not devout are also targeted.

Homosexuals are targeted, not for repentance, or change, but just death.  No jizrah, no compromise, no discussion: just death.

Atheists are coerced into converting (a one sentence statement in exchange for their lives) but if do not keep Islam, are then targeted for death, too.

The Dhimmi leaders who worked for "co existence", jobs, peace, sales of oil, etc were too targeted for death once they outlived their usefulness to the supremacist.  This was no different than Jewish leaders who at first worked with the Nazis.  At the end of the day, they were "Jews"; and at the end of the day, in Egypt and elsewhere, the Dhimmi who enriched himself and his company were "kaffir", or "infidel", and pegged for death.

The supremacist ideology allows for "mercy" to be shown to Christians who will pay "jizrah", or extortion, to be allowed to live.  This is why the letter "N" is spray painted on their houses, to show "Nazarene" or Christian.  Jews generally get no such "mercy."

But there is another victim of Islam that is often missed:

Who are those who carry out these murders?

People like to point to the percentages, but if just a tiny percentage of Muslims turn jihad, it is an army of 1,000,000.

Could you behead someone with a small knife, who has never wronged you, nor is even known to you, because an ideology tells you to?

The mosque where the jihadist attended will use the solemn islamic tacquia or "lie" to the public, but this is where his (or her!) devoutness and interest was used to send him out to be a "warrior" or "soldier" of Allah.

In a sense, he, too, is a victim.

Desensitization begins in the home with violence towards the mother.

Before the howls of protest are heard, consider that we are viewing the basis for sexual violence and murder, within an all encompassing ideology of supremacy over women, and over fellow man.

By the time tomorrow dawns,  there will be another 19 people killed in obedience to this ideology and 20 seriously injured.  This is each and every day, of every week, of every month, of every year.

The phrase, "Religion of Peace" is in Statement Analysis, "unnecessary" making it "very important" or "sensitive" to the subject.
In the Koran, it is to spread the religion with jihad's language including be-heading and raping.

The danger to society is always latent, as the Koran is incompatible with Democracy and freedom. This is why someone must assert "...reading American values in the Koran today..."
or, "Islam is a religion of peace."

The assertion, itself, should be unnecessary.  In Statement Analysis, the subjective dictionary most of us share is that religion is peace.  Therefore, the unnecessary statement is to be deemed "doubly important" for the analysis.  The statement, "Islam is a peaceful religion" or George W. Bush's statement, "Terrorists hijacked a peaceful religion" is signaled for deception:  if it was peaceful there would be no assertion.

This deception has long been in the lips of politicians as part of the mechanisms of the oil industry and the Arab nations' oil wealth considerations.

The Religion of Peace

A demonstration:

One of the victims in the California Islamic terror was a messianic Jews.  This means he has the religious belief of Christianity, but the cultural aspects of Judaism.

He and the killer argued with the killer pressing, "Islam is a religion of peace" while amassing and building bombs in his garage and basement.

His father said that he noticed his son became more religious over time.  This is what the politicians call "radicalization."

It is when one becomes "devout", or dedicated to the ideology of the religion.

Another victim was an Iranian Christian who came to America to escape Islam's prescribed persecution of Christians.

Obama's "work place violence" remark may be parroted by those who curry favor and political correctness, but read the comments to learn:  Americans, both Democrats and Republicans, despise the lying.

Loretta Lynch, Obama's attorney general, vowed to prosecute those who criticize "aggressive action with anyone using anti-Muslim rhetoric that edges towards violence."

Speaking for the justice department she told Muslims, "We stand with you."

We note the word "edges", as a Dhimmi status to her superior's Islamic loyalty.

When a drone can take out a single ISIS leader, while deliberately passing over ISIS headquarters, even Iraqi officials take note and politely decline American 'boots on the ground.'

Europe has enacted laws prohibiting the quoting of the Koran that jihadists use when they kill.

Since 9/11, to date, there have been 27, 386 deadly Jihad attacks.  This number rises every day as does the body count and the injured.

Europe has enacted laws forbidding criticizing immigration policies.

Europe has slowly and steadily enabled Sharia Blasphemy law to be enforced.

Islam forbids criticism of Islam, which is how it has avoided any type of reformation in 1400 years.

This is how Europe's dhimmitude (second class/slavery/jizrah) status came to accept the Sharia blasphemy law.  One who criticizes Islam is put to death, just as one who leaves Islam is put to death.  It is how Islam has survived 1400 years of a world progressing and reforming.

What is the difference between a religion of persuasion and  religion of coercion?

"Those who offend Christ are offered forgiveness.  Those who offend Mohammad, are be-headed."

In countries where Muslims are in the minority, they are obsessed with minority rights.
In countries where Muslims are in the majority, there are no minority rights.

This is the outworking of the supremacist ideology that is criminal.

Judaism, Christianity and Islam all teach "thou shalt not" regarding homosexuality.

What is the reaction of protestors?

Silence towards Islam.

San Francisco city council has rejected ads that state Koranic teaching of killing homosexuals as "hate speech."

This is "dhimmitude" in action.  It accepts the 'lower class' submissive status to the supremacy of Islam.

But what of Christians?

Christians are often called "homophobic" (the irrational fear of homosexuality) for asserting its belief in marriage.  The media is often venomous with name calling and the two signals that no dialog will take place are:

1.  Moral Deficiency
2.  Mental Incapability.

No dialog will take place because if you disagree, you are "hateful" and "phobic"; leaving you of no human value to be heard.  This need to 'shout down" is used in Europe today and has led to both rape and death by supremacists.

In Christianity, for example, the homosexual is called to repentance and if he refuses he is free to do so.

In countries where Islamic law has been enacted, the homosexual is identified by two or more eyewitnesses and is thus dispatched:

Just before murder

Each week a video or two appears in which a gay man is tied to a chair, or bound standing, and thrown off a roof.  Last week the video showed that when he hit the ground, he was still alive and was immediately beset upon by women and children stoning him.

He is not free to disagree, nor free to walk away, nor free to say, "I will accept Islam and not practice homosexuality ever again."

He is executed. It is not just ISIS but Saudi Arabia, of whom the UN has bestowed "Human Rights" titles to.

Warning...disturbing video...

In Iraq and Syria, this is typically claimed to be "ISIS" but it is not "The Islamic State" exclusively.  Videos from Saudi Arabia and from other countries where Islamic rule ("Sharia") is followed, the executions continue.  Should ISIS be defeated, the "rebels" are also Islamic and have designs on establishing Sharia law as well.  The various Islamic groups differ in small matters, but not on homosexual deaths, nor amputation of hands of thieves, nor stoning, lashing, or beating women.

Among "refugees", the violence and rape are extreme.  At a time where most people would pull together for unity and survival, here 5 gay men had to be saved from the others.  No time exists for unity, including 100% Islamic nations.

They fight for control, for the "Caliphate", or the "one leader" that can give world wide orders to all "faithful Islamists" to "wage Jihad" as specifically commanded in the Koran, and by the life of Mohammad.  This includes criminal activity against:

all who resist;
rape to women who are uncovered (though they differ at the length of the covering)
all Jews
all Christians who refuse dhimmi status and jizrah (tax)
all homosexuals
all adulterers
all artists, poets, musicians
all Muslims who disagree, including "secular" Muslims
all Muslims who convert to other religions

Some Islamic sects include anyone who plays sports.  ISIS, for example, does not attend soccer matches, so the chants of "Allah Akbar" heard on video is not "extremest ISIS" but "moderate" or simply, Islamists.

What about Muslims as victims chosen by their mosques to commit holy jihad?

This is not the non religious Muslims who are targeted as betrayers, but specially, those whom are chosen to be suicide bombers and terrorists?

The mosque from which they came is where they were taught and encouraged to kill.   When the leader of the mosque denies this, it is to us, the kaffir, that the denial comes and it is part of their sacred duty to lie.  It would be precisely at the mosque he attended that he heard the teaching of jihad.  The educated Imam would talk him out of it, or report him to the police.  This is a most rare occurrence.

Who chooses the jihadist?  Who handpicks them, and why them?

Those who feel ostracized by society are chosen in the mosque to carry out jihad.  The majority simply watch.
Those who are depressed.
Those who have mental health issues
Those who feel inconsequential.
Those who have various handicaps.
Those of lesser IQ.

These are often targeted by Imams who feign "peace" on one hand, but cannot and will not deny the Koran.

As they claim it of divine origin, they not only know that denying it would lose their jobs and careers, but would be to have the death penalty ascribed to them.

The most 'peaceful' and 'moderate' mosque has the same Koran and same Life Of Mohammad as the most openly hostile mosques.

The ideology is the same everywhere, but where there are disagreements, there is also violence among Islamic countries as they vie for power.

The "moderate rebels" in Syria hold to the same basic beliefs of ISIS.

If ISIS is bombed out of submission, the new Islamics will take over.  They will have slight differences but consider this:

That "jihad" is 'personal struggle' is tough to explain when:

1.  The "perfect man", Mohammad, murdered and raped and prescribed his followers to do so.
2.  Mohammad was a pedophile.  See UK statistics on pedophilia among Islamists.
3.  The Koran teaches "jihad" using specific terminology on "how to jihad", which specifies be heading and raping, not resisting a personal failure.

This is the "Islamic lie" which allows the supremacist to deceive others.

All this "religion of peace"  matters little to those who will die today, or tomorrow, by koranic prescription and perpetrators' obedience to the koran.

In crime, we look for the motive.

In this criminal ideology, which Churchill likened to rabies within a wild dog, spreads, even while it insulates itself, and it does so with techniques that the Nazis never dreamed of.

Nazism lasted less than 20 years.

Islam has not changed in 1400 years, and even the blowing up of buildings is not rooted in fascination with explosives, but because the Koran tells them:  When they come to a non Islamic land, see "the ruins" as proof that Allah hates them.

When the Islamic supremacist sees, for example, the beauty and brilliance of the Twin Towers, it tells him, "there are no ruins; the Koran is wrong" which is why church buildings, art, and beauty is torn down.

Russia did not use nuclear weapons due to fear of retaliation or "mutually assured destruction."

They treasure life.

What was the "moderate" Muslim response to the Twin Towers' destruction?

Islamic supremacy noted:

They sought to build a mosque on the ruins.  I cannot express what pain must have been felt by the victims of this horrific 'salt on the wound' Muslim insensibility.  The debate raged for years in New York City with typical Dhimmi arguments.  The 'making right' of the Koran mattered most to the supremacists who constantly cry, though CAIR, that they 'feel' unsafe. We, the 'kaffir' are unsafe, but they 'feel' unsafe.  CAIR's links to international organized terror has not precluded the president of meeting with them in the White House or speed-dialing the FBI with hurt feelings.  The FBI is under pressure from the White House; intense pressure.

In California, the victims were not even buried yet while CAIR and its dhimmi politicians and main stream media ridiculed prayer and wants to limit guns for those who need protection.

Iran has openly vowed to destroy Israel and its supreme leader chanted our death while our president who said, "my Muslim faith" made more certain Iran would obtain a nuclear bomb and the only hinderance would be if Israeli jets take it out.  Mossad may have killed many scientists, but the president of the United States publicly warned them against stopping Iran.

We do that which we believe. Islam is a criminal ideology that is militaristic, social and finally, religious where its eternal reward is sexual violence.

Listen to a man who has worked with violent Muslim youth in prison.

How many more will die before we acknowledge the ideology that has led to more deaths than any ideology or warlord in human history?

Please read this carefully, particularly what makes some Muslims vulnerable to the manipulation of ISIS, Al Queda, Boka, and so on.

Here is Nicolai Sennels, psychologist on how Islam preys upon the vulnerable in their own population to carry out what the masses support.

Psychology: Why Islam creates monsters
By: Nicolai Sennels, psychologist
Psychopathic people and behaviour are found within all cultures and religions. But one tops them all — by many lengths. The daily mass killings, terror, persecutions and family executions committed by the followers of Islam are nauseating, and the ingenuity behind the attacks — always looking for new and more effective ways of killing and terrorising people — is astonishing: hijacking jumbo jets and flying them into skyscrapers, hunting unarmed and innocent people with grenades and automatic rifles in shopping malls, planting bombs in one’s own body, using model airplanes as drones, attaching large rotating blades to pickup trucks and using them as human lawn movers, killing family members with acid or fire, hanging people publicly from cranes in front of cheering crowds, etc. It makes one ask oneself: what creates such lack of empathy and almost playful and creative attitude towards murdering perceived enemies?
This is a question for psychologists like me.
Studying the Muslim mind

Nobody is born a mass murderer, a rapist or a violent criminal. So what is it in the Muslim culture that influence their children in a way that make so relatively many Muslims harm other people?
As a psychologist in a Danish youth prison, I had a unique chance to study the mentality of Muslims. 70 percent of youth offenders in Denmark have a Muslim background. I was able to compare them with non-Muslim clients from the same age group with more or less the same social background. I came to the conclusion that Islam and Muslim culture have certain psychological mechanisms that harm people’s development and increase criminal behaviour.
I am, of course, aware that Muslims are different, and not all Muslims follow the Quran’s violent and perverted message and their prophet’s equally embarrassing example. But as with all other religions, Islam also influences its followers and the culture they live in.
One could talk about two groups of psychological mechanisms, that both singly and combined increase violent behaviour. One group is mainly connected with religion, which aims at indoctrinating Islamic values in children as early as possible and with whatever means necessary, including violence and intimidation. One can understand a Muslim parent’s concern about his offspring’s religious choices, because the sharia orders the death penalty for their children, should they pick another religion than their parents. The other group of mechanisms are more cultural and psychological. These cultural psychological mechanisms are a natural consequence of being influenced by a religion like Islam and stemming from a 1,400 year old tribal society with very limited freedom to develop beyond what the religion allows.
Classical brainwashing methods in the upbringing

Brainwashing people into believing or doing things against their own human nature — such as hating or even killing innocents they do not even know — is traditionally done by combining two things: pain and repetition. The conscious infliction of psychological and physical suffering breaks down the person’s resistance to the constantly repeated message.
Totalitarian regimes use this method to reform political dissidents. Armies in less civilized countries use it to create ruthless soldiers, and religious sects all over the world use it to fanaticize their followers.
During numerous sessions with more than a hundred Muslim clients, I found that violence and repetition of religious messages are prevalent in Muslim families.
Muslim culture simply does not have the same degree of understanding of human development as in civilized societies, and physical pain and threats are therefore often the preferred tool to raise children. This is why so many Muslim girls grow up to accept violence in their marriage, and why Muslim boys grow up to learn that violence is acceptable. And it is the main reason why nine out of ten children removed from their parents by authorities in Copenhagen are from immigrant families. The Muslim tradition of using pain and intimidation as part of disciplining children are also widely used in Muslim schools — also in the West.
Combined with countless repetitions of Quranic verses in Islamic schools and families, all this makes it very difficult for children to defend themselves against being indoctrinated to follow the Quran, even if it is against secular laws, logic, and the most basic understanding of compassion.
And as we know from so many psychological studies, whatever a child is strongly influenced by at that age takes an enormous personal effort to change later in life. It is no wonder that Muslims in general, in spite of Islam’s inhumane nature and obvious inability to equip its followers with humor, compassion and other attractive qualities, are stronger in their faith than any other religious group.
Four enabling psychological factors
Not only does a traditional Islamic upbringing resemble classical brainwashing methods, but also, the culture it generates cultivates four psychological characteristics that further enable and increase violent behaviour.
These four mental factors are anger, self-confidence, responsibility for oneself and intolerance.
When it comes to anger, Western societies widely agree that it is a sign of weakness. Uncontrolled explosions of this unpleasant feeling are maybe the fastest way of losing face, especially in Northern countries, and though angry people may be feared, they are never respected. In Muslim culture, anger is much more accepted, and being able to intimidate people is seen as strength and source of social status. We even see ethnic Muslim groups or countries proudly declare whole days of anger, and use expressions such as “holy anger” — a term that seems contradictory in peaceful cultures.
In Western societies, the ability to handle criticism constructively if it is justified, and with a shrug if it is misguided, is seen as an expression of self-confidence and authenticity. As everyone has noticed, this is not the case among Muslims. Here criticism, no matter how true, is seen as an attack on one’s honor, and it is expected that the honor is restored by using whatever means necessary to silence the opponent. Muslims almost never attempt to counter criticism with logical arguments; instead, they try to silence the criticism by pretending to be offended or by name-calling, or by threatening or even killing the messenger.
The third psychological factor concerns responsibility for oneself, and here the psychological phenomenon “locus of control” plays a major role. People raised by Western standards generally have an inner locus of control, meaning that they experience their lives as governed by inner factors, such as one’s own choices, world view, ways of handling emotions and situations, etc. Muslims are raised to experience their lives as being controlled from the outside. Everything happens “insha’ Allah” — if Allah wills — and the many religious laws, traditions and powerful male authorities leave little room for individual responsibility. This is the cause for the embarrassing and world-famous Muslim victim mentality, where everybody else is blamed and to be punished for the Muslims’ own self-created situation.
Finally, the fourth psychological factor making Muslims vulnerable to the violent message in the Quran concerns tolerance. While Western societies in general define a good person as being open and tolerant, Muslims are told that they are superior to non-Muslims, destined to dominate non-Muslims, and that they must distance themselves socially and emotionally from non-Muslims. The many hateful and dehumanising verses in the Quran and the Hadiths against non-Muslims closely resemble the psychological propaganda that leaders use against their own people in order to prepare them mentally for fighting and killing the enemy. Killing another person is easier if you hate him and do not perceive him as fully human.
Why Islam creates monsters
The cultural and psychological cocktail of anger, low self-esteem, victim mentality, a willingness to be blindly guided by outer authorities, and an aggressive and discriminatory view toward non-Muslims, forced upon Muslims through pain, intimidation and mind-numbing repetitions of the Quran’s almost countless verses promoting hate and violence against non-Muslims, is the reason why Islam creates monsters.
The psychological problem within Islam

The problem with Islam and Muslim culture is that there are so many psychological factors pushing its followers towards a violent attitude against non-Muslims that a general violent clash is — at least from a psychological perspective — inevitable. With such strong pressure and such strong emotions within such a large group of people — all pitched against us — we are facing the perfect storm, and I see no possibilities of turning it around. For people to change, they have to want it, to be allowed to change, and to be able to change — and only a tiny minority of Muslims have such lucky conditions.
Far too many people underestimate the power of psychology embedded in religion and culture. As we have already seen, no army of social workers, generous welfare states, sweet-talking politicians, politically correct journalists or democracy-promoting soldiers can stop these enormous forces. Sensible laws on immigration and Islamisation in our own countries can limit the amount of suffering, but based on my education and professional experience as a psychologist for Muslims, I estimate that we will not be able to deflect or avoid this many-sided, aggressive movement against our culture.
I do believe that we, as a democratic and educated society can become focused and organised concerning the preservation of our values and constitutions, can win this ongoing conflict started by the often inbred followers of sharia. The big question is how much of our dignity, our civil rights, and our blood, money and tears will we lose in the process.

Oh My God. Oh My God. I knew of the massive beheadings and killings but had never seen the actual photos of them beheaded, stoned or burned alive, or really understood their in depth teachings. The magnitude and horror of this is indescribable. What can we do, what can we say? Where does this stop or does it? Not according to the beliefs and learned opinions of the psychologists' article. 1,400 years this has been in progress?! Oh My God.

I read the entire article, it is the most thorough article and description of Islam, quoting their own scriptures from their Koran, that I have ever seen or could have imagined, now I understand how they indoctrinate their children to kill; and here, our own govm't has fallen into their trap, with Obama leading the way. Nazism is nothing compared to this and we know the horrors they performed. The scope of this is unimaginable while we sit here in danger.

This boggles the mind. What ARE we going to do? ABB

I took your advice from yesterday and read Jihad watch Islam 101. I learned in the Koran, it is okay to lie, steal, rape, kill, behead, and enslave. So, before I read, I thought they just wanted to kill all infidels. Now I think they want to enslave us. In a way, they are with their oil. Their riches will allow them to fight for a long time. Anyone who is spared for the moment has some usefulness to the Muslims. I think they do not work at anything. Just living off the profits of oil. Don't those countries just hire people to do all the work? And by hiring, I mean enslaving. Like keeping the passports of the imported workers. Harsh, crude and inhumane treatment. How is this a religion? It is not. It is a war mentality.

No love in what I read. Do mothers not love their children? Do they not stand up against their husbands when they rape their own children? It is a despicable way of life. A mental illness. Since they prefer to marry within the family, maybe they will continue to produce low iq individuals who will be Islam's downfall.

The whole thing is horrifying!

Low IQ will not be the downfall of Islam. If that were true, Christians would have been gone in the last century.

It is easy to tell the lawyer for the family of the SB shooter is working up a conspiracy theory in his own head. (look at the eyes rolling up and to the right) Keep it close enough to the truth to rally rachet writers to his way of thnking.

Yes, Peter, please let the truth be known!

Any one with a bachelors or above can be the next Lt. of Colonel in the new and improved world at war. All one needs is a history book and few low Iq'd minions to rally the troops.

But, why just make church goers paranoid with conspiracy and WWII general effects-go after the neighbors of anyone not spying or reporting suspicious packages being delivered during yule season.

In the words of a former FBI agent(once analyzed on this blog) who likened crime to a used car: look for the old worn out pedals.

Start with the children first. Move on to bigger issues-school, small community events, county, then state. Next the nation. Then, once indoctrinated, one is ready to rule the nations abroad.

But, more ads are sold pouring over those not grieving properly or those with self-centered agendas,eh?

Wow, you said something so powerful when you said, "Desensitization begins in the home with violence towards the mother." I have seen this in strongly in individuals whose father beat their mother -- they are completely desensitized towards violence and have trouble with empathy. The violence they see on the news is like a cartoon to them -- not real, and doesn't effect them emotionally.

I found this interesting post from a Muslim (former?):
Simi Rahman

Every Muslim humanist is asking themselves a question I first asked myself in September 2001.
How do you tell a radical Muslim from a moderate peace loving one?
And here is my train of thought.
The 9/11 hijackers reminded me of boys I had gone to school with in Dubai in the 80s and 90s. They were the same age, background, and modern enough to have listened to 80s pop and chased girls. Meaning that just like most young people in the Muslim world, we weren't that religious.
So, I thought, maybe I could locate the differences between them and me, and at some point I would identify a breakaway point. Something they would do that I never would. And it took me a while to realize this, and now with the California shootings, it has reaffirmed for me, that indeed, when it comes to being able to tell a moderate from a radical in Islam, you can't.
You really can't tell until the moment before they pull the trigger, who is moderate and who is jihadi. Tashfeen has broken our moderate backbone, by revealing that she lived among us, unnoticed, normal, experiencing motherhood, enveloped in our secure community and yet, had radicalized.
And that's the problem, that there are many others like her with exactly the same beliefs, who may not have been ignited yet by a radical cleric, but if the opportunity presented itself, they would follow. They're like a dormant stick of dynamite, waiting for the fuse to be lit. The TNT is already in there.
What's it made of? Not the 5 pillars, belief, charity, prayer, fasting and pilgrimage. Not the sayings of the prophet as to how to lead a good and just life. Not the celebration of Eid ul Fitr.
It possibly glimmers through in the fealty that Allah demands during the Eid ul Adha, when Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son as a sign of his superior faith is commemorated in a sacrifice and celebration very much like the American Thanksgiving, with family and food. But without the football. And oh yes, the fratricide.
It is there in the silence one must maintain during prayer, brooking no interruptions, because it would make the prayer invalid. It is there in the severity of the hijab when it is followed to a tee. Not a hair can show. It is there in the forced separation of men and women at social gatherings.

Pt 2
It is present in every act that is performed that excludes us from the mainstream. It is present in the very concept of Us and Them. Because the only way we remain Us is to reject Them. The only way to be an exemplary Us is to reject westernization at every turn. Halal only is a sham, constructed out of this notion of meat that has been cut a certain way. It's the same meat. And yet there is a magical difference that people will attest to in all seriousness.
I went deep into the Midwest, wore a hijab for a year and lived there for 8 years. In that time, I attended ISNA gatherings, met w educated, professional people like myself who were also asking the same questions. They were looking to their faith for answers. And sure, there were efforts made to modernize Islam, but they were only superficial. We couldn't do it. We couldn't do it because there is a logical dilemma at the core of Islam. And that is, that the Quran is the last word of God, that it is perfect and unchangeable. And to even suggest such a thing is blasphemy and apostasy.
And so, to understand the moderate mind, you have to envision it on a continuum from radical to middle, but the closer you get to liberal, there is a wall. It creeps up on you, in the condemnation of homosexuality, in the unequal treatment and subjugation of women, but it's there. Beyond that wall that they are afraid to look over, for fear of eternal hell fire and damnation, is where the answer lies though. So being a Muslim moderate these days is like running a race with a ball and chain attached to your feet. A handicap. Unless you can imagine what the world beyond that wall looks like, you can't really navigate it. If you're so terrified of blasphemy that you refuse to look over, you're forever stuck. Right here. And behind you is the jihadi horde, laying claim to real Islam, practicing it to perfection, as it is laid out in the Quran. A veritable rock and a hard place. I feel your pain. I've been there. And it was untenable.
I read, discussed, debated alongside many good Muslim young people from all over the world, in Internet forums, trying to argue our way to a solution, much like we are doing on social media right now. I knew I rejected the homophobia, I knew I rejected the subjugation of women. And it all remained a theory until I saw it in practice. In the drawing rooms of the Midwestern professional moderate Muslim. There was the discussion of whether the verse that allows a man to strike his wife instead actually means, he should strike her with a feather. As a doctor, I am a humanist first, and so the blatant homophobia was irrational, dangerous and something I stopped tolerating politely. I attended presentations at the mosque of videos from the Palestinian Territories, played to rouse the outrage of the gathered congregation.
And that's when the absurdity started to really hit home. What in the world were we doing? We were training our children to kowtow without questioning an authority that we believed would keep them safe from evil western ways. And so the community's children went to Sunday school, wore hijab, prayed and fasted. They were enveloped in a Muslim identity that was unlike any that I had experienced before. I was raised in a Muslim country in the Middle East and religion was something we kept in its place, somewhere after school, soccer and cartoons. Here was a more distilled, pure and, most dangerously, a context-free Islam. There were no grandmothers here to sagely tell us which parts of the Quran to turn a blind eye to. There were no older cousins here who skipped Friday prayers and goofed off with their friends instead. Oh no. This was Islam simmered in a sauce of Midwestern sincerity, and boiled down to its dark, concentrated core. This was dangerous.

maudes harold said...

Pt 3
As my children grew older, I grew more afraid. I had tolerated their father's insistence on sending them to Sunday school, where mostly they played and learned a few surahs. But as they grew older I knew it would change. A sincerity would creep in to their gaze, teenage rebellion would find just cause in judging your less religious parents as wanting and inferior. Bad Muslims. How many teenagers have started to wear hijab before their own mothers? I've lost count. Mothers who found themselves in this dilemma would choose to join their child on this journey. They would cover too, and as such offered a layer of protection from the ideology by offering perspective.
I worried though, about the Internet, about radical recruiters posing as friends, finding willing and malleable clay in our unformed children. For we would keep them unformed. We would shield them from western influences in order to protect them, only to create a rift that could be exploited as an entry point. We would in essence be leaving our children vulnerable to radicalization.
And that is exactly what has been happening. The young girls from Europe and the US who have traveled to Syria to join ISIS, have done so because they're looking for what all teenagers are looking for, a sense of identity, to differentiate themselves from their parents and find a separate identity, the thrill of rebellion, adventure. They can't date, drink or dance, so they might as well Daesh.
This thought is what drove me to scale that wall. I dropped prayer, stopped feeling guilty for not praying. I drank alcohol, in moderation like most people do in the west, and I didn't instantly turn into an alcoholic. I dropped the need to cover to my ankles and wrists, and wore regular clothes. Bacon. I mean, seriously, it's bacon, I don't have to explain how good it was. I turned to look back at the wall from the other side, and it was...a relief. I relief to lose that fear of apostasy. To realize there was no such thing, it was purely in my mind. The ideas that had worn a groove in my mind, the guilt, the anxiety, the self flagellation for being a bad Muslim, all were gone.
And now, looking in the rear view mirror, I cannot recall what that felt like. I can't recall what believing used to feel like, because it's not as if there's an absence. It's not like I miss it. No, in its place has come a more robust understanding of humanity, philosophy, history, human nature and yes, even of religion.
A realization that the future is everything. There is no heaven or hell. Or rather, we no longer need a heaven and a hell to curb us into moral behavior. We have evolved. We know more of the universe, too much to be afraid of it anymore. We know more of this earth, and we know that every human being is made of exactly the same material. There is no Us, no Them. There is only We. We need to move on. We need to break free. We need to scale the wall so we can push back against the forces that seek to snatch our children's minds and bodies. We need to protect them, we need to inhabit our own intelligence instead of surrender it in the service of an archaic structure of beliefs that make absolutely no sense to follow in this day and age.
We have to break the chains in our own minds in order to do any of this. And it is scary. Especially when you've believed your whole life in the concept of blasphemy. Especially when you know that to openly come out and reject these beliefs would be to risk alienation, to be ostracized and maligned, rejected and alone. And in many cases, dangerous to your own person.

maudes harold said...

Pt 4

So maybe that is where we should start. By encouraging Muslims to create safe spaces to challenge the logical fallacies and inconsistencies, not between translation to translation, but between Islam and the modern world.
Peter Janecki, who created a machine that converts sewage into clean drinkable water and energy, noted in his TEDMED talk recently that he had to zoom out and look at it not as a garbage problem, but as an energy problem. He had to make the problem bigger in order to come up with a solution.
And I think it's the same with islam. We have to make the problem bigger. Instead of minimizing, we need to blow it up big and examine it and let go of this idea that a sacred text is unchangeable. Or unquestionable. We have to look at it instead as a humanism problem. Is Islam, in the way it is practiced and preached, humanistic enough? In that does it respect the personhood of a human being enough, and if it doesn't, then what can we do about it.
We have to make it ok to walk away. We have to come out of this closet and into the light. Because none of us are safe anymore. And none of the old bandages will hold much longer before it becomes a full on carnage that we only have ourselves to blame for

Really makes Malala stand out as a miracle. What's the difference? Education and openness to other ideas. Her father was educated in a British-influenced way I believe, if not in Britain itself. You cannot underestimate the influence British colonization had on India and small parts of Pakistan. If you're educated and are encouraged to learn other ideas, philosophies, and approaches, you cannot be brainwashed into one small way of thinking. Clearly theirs is a rare home of love and respect for a woman's potential. No wonder the Taliban wanted to kill her. One loved, respected, educated woman can undermine their whole system. So Peter would you say that what her family practices is not basic Islam, but a modified, enlightened form that is not agreement with the Koran? Or would you say it is not Islam at all? Western Muslims would say it is Islam, but what would Eastern Muslims say? Is the Koran open to as many interpretations as the Bible? How do peaceful people who say they are Muslims read those passages in the Koran and justify them?

Statement Analysis Blog said...

The most peaceful muslims attend mosques where the "book" (Koran) is "open to interpretation" which is why Sunni debates another type, etc. They differ on many things, but not upon Jihad.

They argue over length of women's veils, but not that women are second class citizens.

They argue most often over who is in control; which is superior.

They do not argue over the 5 Basic Duties, which includes jihad.

Mohammad, the perfect man, committed sexual homicide, and he prescribed sexual homicide.

As to interpretation, for 1400 years, this is what Islam has done, always, and always will.

Migrants, or "refugees" in Italy were asked for an Italian documentary if killing French people in Paris is the right thing to do.

The migrants are headed for Germany and Sweden or the UK.

Exposing lies is what brought many of you to this blog.

Islam as a "religion of peace" is the single largest and deadliest lie told in history, but it is a deliberate lie to cover the contagion that spreads everywhere it goes, and enslaves.

Years ago I thought, "why provoke these nuts with cartoons?" but I did not understand what was happening with freedom of speech in Europe due to Islamic blasphemy laws and how they use democracy as a tool against people to enslave them.

I now grasp why it is our duty to stand up to the tyranny.

We are at war with Islam because Islam has declared war on people of freedom everywhere. Had it been content to stay in one country, we could have ignored it.

Obama lied about his Muslim faith in his first election and he has imported Islam both through immigration, lawlessness and promotions throughout government.

Has terrorism affected journalism finally? It used to be the shill story only, but does this one seem to include the truth??

The shill:

"A passenger got up and tried to do something at the door, but was stopped by crew members and other passengers," said airline spokesman Andreas Bartels.

"The passenger was then restrained for the remainder of the flight in his seat and handed over to the authorities in Belgrade," he said.

"It was a normal door, which of course cannot be opened in-flight... it was not the cockpit door," he said. "The safety of the flight was not jeopardised and the flight landed safely in Belgrade".

Bartels declined to provide information on the identity of the passenger or his nationality, or what he said during the incident”

The rest….in the same article:

“Serbian state-run television reported that police had arrested a Jordanian man after he tried to forced his way into the cockpit of the Lufthansa flight.

The man had suddenly got up during the flight, banged on the cockpit door and demanded to be allowed to enter, threatening to open one of the plane's doors while it was flying over Austria, Serbia's RTS television reported.

The man, whom Serb press said was called Laken and had a US passport, had cried out that he wished to join Allah along with all the passengers, RTS said.

He was overpowered by flight crew and members of a Serb handball team who subdued him until the flight landed in Belgrade where he was arrested, the report said.”

excellent point.

There are web sites dedicated to tracking Islam's violence.

Interesting, should Loretta Lynch ban the Koran for violent hate speech?

It is incomparable to Mein Kampf where one simply voiced distain over a group of people, which is rectified by violence, whereas the other labels the people, complete identity, calls for death, and then describes, in detail, how to kill them and what to do to their wives and children.

We listen for rebuttal, but it comes in the form of propaganda, particularly, tangent.

This is an example;

Interviewer: "Does the Koran teach violence?"

Answer; "so does the Bible!"

Interviewer, "Yes, but history shows that this was never understood literally..."

The Islamist successfully moved the topic to attack Christianity or Judaism rather than answer about violence.

This is a form of deception and most commonly used by propagandist who hope or believe the audience to be incapable of following an argument.

The Interiewer should have said, "Does the Koran teach violence towards those who leave Islam?" moving it towards a speific.

Answer: "When states joined the Union were they told that if they left the union they had to do so only by death? But the slaves had to be free, right?"

This now moves the topic to American history, which, although affirming the answer about violence, moves the topic away from the Koran and towards the Civil War and, in particular, racism. It is also in the form of a question, which "polite" people answer.

This is typical Islamic apologetics.

You must remember: they are commanded to lie.

How devout? If one offers to shake hands with you by offering the left hand, don't do it.

Peter: Did you see this story?

The threats and attacks against gay migrants are so numerous and serious that they “often don’t dare leave their rooms”, Philip Tijsma of gay rights lobby group COC told Amsterdam’s daily newspaper Het Parool.

Since September, Amsterdam has become the temporary home for many migrants from the Middle East, especially Syria. In October one particular shelter in the borough of Zuidoost saw unrest break out that was directed at gay migrants. The Director of Care for the Salvation Army in the city, Harry Doef, admitted: “We could not guarantee the men’s safety.”

In cooperation with a local affordable housing company, the Salvation Army found alternative accommodation for the three Syrians, one Iraqi and one Iranian who had been threatened.

Then in November trouble broke out in a second emergency migrant shelter in the same borough of Amsterdam, again aimed at gay migrants housed there. Next weekend four people will be moved to a separate house for their own safety, and early next year there will be a dedicated wing for the vulnerable group in a shelter under construction in a former nursing home.

At least 72 employees at the Department of Homeland Security are listed on the U.S. terrorist watch list, according to a Democratic lawmaker.

Rep. Stephen Lynch (D., Mass.) disclosed that a congressional investigation recently found that at least 72 people working at DHS also “were on the terrorist watch list.”

“Back in August, we did an investigation—the inspector general did—of the Department of Homeland Security, and they had 72 individuals that were on the terrorist watch list that were actually working at the Department of Homeland Security,” Lynch told Boston Public Radio.

“The [former DHS] director had to resign because of that,” he said.

DHS continues to fail inspections aimed at determining the efficiency of its internal safety mechanisms, as well as its efforts to protect the nation.

Lynch referred to a recent report that found the Transportation Security Administration, which is overseen by DHS, failed to stop 95 percent of those who attempted to bring restricted items past airport security.

“We had staffers go into eight different airports to test the department of homeland security screening process at major airports. They had a 95 percent failure rate,” Lynch said. “We had folks—this was a testing exercise, so we had folks going in there with guns on their ankles, and other weapons on their persons, and there was a 95 percent failure rate.”

Lynch said he has “very low confidence” in DHS based on its many failures over the years. For this reason, he voted in favor of recent legislation that will tighten the vetting process for any Syrian refugees applying for asylum in the United States.

“I have very low confidence based on empirical data that we’ve got on the Department of Homeland Security. I think we desperately need another set of eyeballs looking at the vetting process,” he said. “That’s vetting that’s being done at major airports where we have a stationary person coming through a facility, and we’re failing 95 percent of the time.”

“I have even lower confidence that they can conduct the vetting process in places like Jordan, or Belize or on the Syrian border, or in Cairo, or Beirut in any better fashion, especially given the huge volume of applicants we’ve had seeking refugee status,” Lynch said.

If you view his decisions from his Muslim faith, which he has owned in pronouns, every decision he has made makes perfect sense.

That IRAQ does not want us on the ground there makes sense.
That IRAN is getting a nuclear weapons facility makes sense.
That our country is flooded with Islamic hirah (invasion by migration) makes sense.
That he has ignored the cries of inner city blacks
That he has done everything he could to "change" America, including breaking laws, threatening sheriffs with imprisonment, and stacking Islamic supremacist everywhere, all makes sense.

It is the greatest deception of our generation.

CAIR is terrorists who regularly make false claims, false pictures and false "Islamophobia" nonsense, but America is seeing through it, even if it takes bloodshed, they are seeing the lies.

For this, I am glad.

We are not as bad as Europe.

I see Europe eventually making a treaty with Islamicst by ceding over property in exchange for stopping the killing. They do not have the strength to fight back.

This is why you see police officers injured while they can take no action to defend themselves.

With all respect and as horrifying as it is, it is past time we see what is really going on in this world, not just in our imaginary thoughts, but with the reality of actually seeing for ourselves in living technicolor if that's what it takes to awaken us from our peaceful slumber.

I hate seeing this as much as anyone could, I' sure everyone here does; however, you realize, these severed heads, and stoning's, and people being burned alive, could be photographs of our own family members being slaughtered right in front of us? If we continue to look away because we can't stomach looking at such gruesome pictures, or think to ourselves, 'oh this is going on way over yonder in foreign lands somewhere else, it doesn't touch me and I can't bear to look at it' then we are kidding ourselves.

It actually could touch us, and does; with Islamic indoctrinated practices and cells of ISIS already hiding in this country; THIS is the reality of the gruesome madness that is already on top of us, our families, our neighbors and everyone else we love. This is not sadistic or make believe, this is wide-awake reality.

It's past time to open our eyes and our mind and take a good look. These are human beings, with a soul; beautiful people, once alive who had the same likes, dislikes and loves that you and I have. It is sickening, I agree, and I'm sorry to put it this way but these gruesome photos is the reality of the world we are all living in. We can no longer look away from this horror. We just can't. ABB

If there is one question I would like to be able to answer definitively about Muslim immigration to the Euro-zone, it is "Why?"

Why have the leaders of Europe not only allowed this but actively encouraged over a period of several decades?

Why are they willingly committing cultural suicide?

Why do the citizens of Europe tolerate it?

I have some notion of what is behind this, but I would love to know *definitively* what is driving the policy. Because there can be no mistake that this is a ironclad policy that the leaders of Europe have chosen to sign and enforce in their own blood

I have a feeling also that the question of "Why?" would be answered just as well if we knew "who" was behind the policy.

Poor, poor Europe.

It's who is at the helm, that is of the say isn't it?
The good people of Europe are being stifled by their own govt, they are not allowed to make choices. They are provided " options" which are not for their betterment, these options are for the betterment of the " incoming" who are parasitic.

It begins at the top level, who is the authority.
If this authority is fair weather or actually instilling
what they say Needs to be done: to protect. Then is the authorities
of no fear, as they authorize the destabilization of their major cities, the citizens are last to know. The trickle takes time.

It's done, now what? now the citizens are criminal for speaking
out and or refusing these mercenaries? It's evident the citizens are being punished for what their own government is predicating: civility no longer is natural law, nor is it held to a standard.

Hungary Mayor, his no longer warning, he is stating
if you cross, you will be imprisoned. Sept of 2015.

He the voice of the citizens first, then Govt.

As this is personal, to persons who's country
is being invaded by visceral alike minded mongrels.

Men in droves, the invaders who are without a doubt by Hungary's intelligence, they are Commissioned Mercenaries in route to Germany and or destination " only their known" or all the governments know, it's not for the good people to be informed.

If citizens of the masses were pre-informed, it would be an all out Civil War. What works has been done time and time again. Keep persons in the dark, after it's done, strip them from
their voices, this began years ago: Politically Correct voice Police, some who frequent here.

I will reserve judgment on the Hungarian politician for the time being. Will he be able to carry out his promises? Or will he be brought to heel by his superiors in the European establishment?

Given the transnational power structure of the EU, it is really not possible for a local or even national-level politician to act independently. All of the power is concentrated in Brussels, Paris, and Berlin.

And as much sympathy--true, deep sympathy--as I have for the European peoples, they are not blameless in this. They bought in wholeheartedly to the post-WWII secular humanist experiment. They turned their backs on their institutions and heritage. They emptied the churches and cathedrals. The chose materialism over their ancient spiritual identity. These choices made today's situation inevitable.

My sympathy for them comes from the fact that they were manipulated in their suffering after two terrible wars. If I were a European who had lived through the human meat grinders of WWI and WWII, I might have made similar choices. "There but for the grace of God..."

The only certain way to stop the tide of Islamization is to reverse the decades-long Process of secularization and globalization. It would require dismantling the power structures of the EU, including the common currency and banking system. It would require transferring sovereignty back to individual states. It would require and full and equal partnership of Mittel Europe with Germany and France. And above all, it would require a resurgence of Christian faith among Europeans. In other words, the social megatrends of the last 50 years would have to be reversed.

Sadly, I do not see those things happening. On the contrary, all of the operative trends are accelerating.

The only logical conclusion is that the power structure of Europe *wants* this wave of demographic invasion to happen. Which brings me back to my original question, the question everyone should be asking: "Why?"

I assure you that it is not mere political correctness or humanistic "compassion!"

Some will argue that it is about economics, that the dwindling European workforce needs this infusion of fresh labor to support the socialist welfare state.

I believe that is a fig leaf and that there is a deeper agenda at work. As Peter pointed out above, there is no wealth being created or sustained, here.

Keeping asking the question "why?" and follow the logical answers to their final logical conclusion...

I think you are either over-estimating the will of average Europeans to fight for their survival or underestimating the will of their leaders to suppress them.

Any European factions that attempt to fight this will be dealt with most harshly, I assure you. Look at what happened to some of the populist European politicians who spoke out against immigration ~10 years ago.

They were liquidated with extreme prejudice.

If average citizens attempt to resist, they will be dealt with under Europe's hate-speech laws, all in the name of "tolerance," of course.

Here is the answer to your "why" question.

Speaking at an October 22 gathering of the European People's Party in Madrid, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán warned of the consequences of Merkel's immigration policies. He said:

"We cannot hide the fact that the European left has a clear agenda. They are supportive of migration. They actually import future leftist voters to Europe hiding behind humanism. It is an old trick but I do not understand why we have to accept it. They consider registration and protection of borders as bureaucratic, nationalist and against human rights.

They have a dream about the politically constructed world society without religious traditions, without borders, without nations. They attack core values of our European identity: family, nation, subsidiarity and responsibility.”

Unfortunately Europe is still recovering from WWll.
Germany is ripping itself apart to atone for the atrocities it did and condoned.
East european countries are joining the eu because they see free money and benefits thrown about rather than what is on offer in their own countries.

The eu single currency is destined to fail as it has in all the previous attempts.
Countries lied outright about their economies to get access to all the handouts and preferential lending rates and now are suffering the consequences when their economies have gone bosoms up since they cannot change their own rates etc to help their country. Greece, Italy, Portugal, Ireland, Spain are all in deep doodoo because they cannot change their bank rates.
The stronger currencies such as genrmany (although that is having issues) benefit whilst poorer countries can't keep up.
Greece has now had to beg for bailouts yet again to pay the interest due on previous bailouts (like that makes any kind of economic sense)
Austerity is not allowed.

With now uncontrolled immigration (germany looks to have taken in over 1m 'refugees' (economic migrants for the most part)
Gateway countries such as turkey, greece and italiy simply cannot cope and are being swamped.
Once in europe the migrants are heading for germany forcing other eu countries to close borders or create corridors for them to go through,

With the schengen agreement (no borders inside the european union) immigrants are free to travel and work anywhere once they get residency whereupon they all want to get to the UK, (check out the jungle at calais)

The right wing parties are now do9ing well in elections as the populace express anger at the uncontr9olled immigration, german families being evicted to give their homes to immigrants.

The do gooder liberals are safe as they are protected and far from the rabble whilst the rest of the population suffer crimes such as murder, rape, assault and abuse by the immigrants, who are even demanding they get better food, housing, amenities and so on even when they are given for free what the citizens have to pay for.

If you say anything against islam you will be threatened and abused, called racist, a bigot, an islamaphobe, a hater, anything to shut you up.
Citizens face attacks such as in Paris, even single attacks such as on Lee Rigby, Yestedays attack in a tube station in london.

Demands are made by immigrants and granted without a by your leave rather than telling them you want to come here, you follow our laws.

WWlll is well on the way and this time it is islam against the rest of the world.

Sharia courts operating in the UK are treating women as second-class citizens, a damning report has revealed.

The secretive Islamic tribunals, working mainly from mosques, settle financial and family disputes according to religious principles.

But the parallel justice system runs against the law of the land and is condemning British Muslim women to ‘marital captivity’ while failing to protect them from domestic violence, an independent study found.

In one controversial case, a sharia court refused to intervene even though a woman said her husband was denying her a divorce unless she gave him £10,000.

In another instance, a woman who claimed to be married to an abusive husband was told by a laughing judge: ‘Why did you marry such a person?’

Under Islamic law, men only need to say ‘I divorce you’ three times to separate from their wives while women need the sanction of clerics.

According to the report, a judge at an East London court told a couple who had already obtained a civil divorce that the paper counted for nothing.

It said the judge – known as a qadi – told the couple: ‘Secular judge does not do religious divorces. We have Islam. Secular courts do not have Islamic laws. Can a kaffir [non-Muslim] come in and judge Islamic matters?’

The report was written by Machteld Zee, a Dutch academic who was granted unprecedented access to Islamic divorce hearings in London and Birmingham.

She concluded: ’There are, in fact, two separate legal orders functioning [in the UK], of which one currently operates in the “shadow of the law”.’

Judges in the courts were ‘upholding the theory and practice of the strong hold men have over women’, she added.

Her findings will reignite the debate about the rise of sharia law, the legal system derived from the Koran and the rulings of Islamic scholars, which are known as fatwas.

It provides a code for living – including prayers, fasting and donating to the poor – but is also notorious for laying down extreme punishments such as cutting off a hand or death by stoning for adultery.

Sharia courts cannot overrule regular courts. But they are responsible for issuing Islamic divorce certificates – although these must be approved by a law court before they can be recognised in civil law.

A separate report in 2009 found there were as many as 85 sharia courts in the UK, which are recognised under the Arbitration Act.

But Miss Zee’s study, based on sitting in on 15 hours of hearings at the Islamic Sharia Council in Leyton, East London, and Birmingham Central Mosque Sharia, found women were not treated equally. She said judges were ‘not a neutral third party’ but ‘always in favour of the man’.

In her book Choosing Sharia, she said: ‘In a toxic mix of religious fundamentalism, culture and tight-knit communities, sharia councils uphold the theory and practice of the strong hold men have over women.

‘Sharia councils may “help” women who want a divorce, but it is a solution to a problem that they fuel and one that they seek to preserve.’

She said that the councils ‘frustrate women in their requests, especially if the husband is unwilling to cooperate’.

‘One judge said, “Under Islam, we should reconcile marriages, even if there is violence”. They don’t care. It was shocking.’

Muslim women wishing to divorce often feel the need to get a religious divorce for cultural reasons. Also, if a civil divorce is not accepted by a country that follows sharia and they have remarried, they risk the death penalty for adultery.

In 2008, then Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams sparked an outcry by arguing that adopting ‘some aspects’ of sharia in Britain could help with social cohesion. However, a report the following year by the Civitas think-tank warned that the courts operated behind closed doors and their decisions were likely to be unfair to women.

Examples set out in the study by Islamist specialist Denis MacEoin included a ruling that no Muslim woman may marry a non-Muslim man unless he converts to Islam and that any children of a woman who does should be taken from her until she marries a Muslim.

In 2011, ministers controversially abandoned an inquiry into the rise of secretive sharia councils – because the Muslim courts refused to help.

Khola Hasan, a scholar at the Islamic Sharia Council in London, rejected Miss Zee’s allegations.

She said: ‘We certainly don’t condone domestic violence or force women to go back: we are there to get women out of religious marriages.’ She described the allegations of bias towards men as ‘absolute rubbish’.

Do we need to see decapitated people? Those men were sons, husbands, brothers, etc. imagine how distressing it must be for their loved ones to see them minus their body on the Internet.
I saw a woman wearing traditional Muslim headwear today (I've forgotten the name..hijab?) I felt contempt for her. I'm starting to hate people I don't even know and that doesn't make me feel good. I don't trust ANY Muslim, radical or not.

Yes I think you've identified what is wrong with these photos: They are not anonymous, faces can be seen. They're too personal, with no dignity even in death.

I've been to the 911 museum in New York. There are small rooms off the main hall with warnings of disturbing images. You can see people jumping from the windows, but not clearly. Those images truly bring home the horror of the awful choice they faced that day: being burned alive or jumping to their deaths. I looked at them for a long time, and my 11yr daughter did too.

Now if I'd seen a picture of their bodies smashed to pieces on the sidewalk, well I wouldn't want to see that. My brain just goes into total freak out mode. Gruesome scenes don't bring me to a place of empathy with the victim, just pure horror.

On your other point, I'm right there with you. I am hating the head scarf and want to rip them off, and I'm a rational law-abiding mother of two. But, isn't it interesting that the men are not required to display their religion for all to see, only the women. It's mostly the women who will be at risk of backlash violence, while all the men can come and go as they please in western dress.

I don't know what the solution is but we dare not go to the place of hating random women in public because of the head coverings.

Regarding head coverings, I was raised Catholic and most of my teachers were nuns, who were dressed in the traditional black habit. As a female child, I had to had my head covered in church, while my brothers did not. At school, if we girls forgot our veils, the nuns would pin a Kleenex on our heads, because we absolutely could not go to Mass otherwise. Does that mean all the men in our families were bad because they did not protest this treatment? No. My dad was a wonderful man and loved me greatly. That said, looking back I don't like that women had to wear veils in Mass, but it didn't mean we were evil. I can't remember when that tradition disappeared.

I am currently in a different church because I am on an ordination path that is not possible for women in the Catholic Church. There was a long period of my life when I was agnostic and skeptical of all religions; then something happened that I can only explain as grace. (But that's another story.) After all that I wrestled with, including at times being very angry at the church and hurting my dad's feeings, I look back and see that my Catholic upbringing gave me something inestimable and deep. It shaped who I am. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I am saying all of this because there was a time in U.S. history when Catholics were feared and dreaded, and wild rumors and stereotypes abounded. The Pope was the Whore of Babylon, the Catholic Church was the anti-Christ, etc. Jews endured terrible stereotyping and persecution in this country. After Pearl Harbor, the U.S. put all the Japanese in concentration camps. To me, this hysterical stereotyping of all Muslims is along the same order as what other groups have endured. Perhaps we can learn from history and not give in to it this time? You can oppose ISIS without having to make the entire population of 1.6 billion Muslims into lying, inbred caricatures.

I wonder if the commenters here know any Muslims personally.

Thanks for your reply, MsSkeptic. I know you're right - Going to a place of hate isn't good for anyone and I have to remember that Muslim women suffer under their religion, at least those who are afraid. The woman terrorist who recently murdered all those people in California? That's shaken me. She was a mother. How could she! They all had mothers! Where was her maternal feelings? She gave birth 6 months ago! It's terrifying to me, more so than when a man goes on a murderous rampage. I know men and women are both capable of evil, but a woman killing someone else's child..that's a level of evil that is terrifying.
I'm afraid.

Kathryn, I know 2 Muslim moms. Their boys are friends with my son. They've been very nice to my son and I haven't had any cause for concern. However, they dress and live like western women and I wouldn't have known their religion if I hadn't been in their homes, seen the Arabic stuff and books. They aren't radical as far as I can tell. But of course how would I know! I read somewhere that Muslims are encouraged to lie, to gain the infidels trust. I don't know what to think anymore. My gut tells me they are good people, but HOW do I KNOW for sure? So many people say of murders (after the fact), "they were nice, respectful, we had no idea."

Of the 1.6 billion Muslims, how many are standing up to ISIS? How many are condemning ISIS? THEY should be shouting from the roof tops against ISIS, they should be doing all they can to make sure their religion isn't being hijacked. But they don't. Why?

how many nuns were raped for not wearing the thing on their heads?

kathryn ever heard of Islamic lie?
have you even read how the moderate muslims pick and choose the nut job to jihad or how they all are told to feign support for anti terrorism?

The FBI said that since 9/11 Muslim Americans have given "ZERO SUPPORT" FOR COUNTER TERRORISM.

The moderate Muslim is the best lie since the nice nazi.

It is because of undiscerning superficial utopian fools like you that their status has gotten so powerful.

you are the San Bern co worker who organized a baby shower for their "good muslim" friends while they were loading their guns.

muslims who are good are no longer born muslims. their book says to kill and rape and either they reject the book or they accept it.

wake up.

they laugh at your type and in europe they rape your type. how many goodie good moralists have been attacked by them? do you read???

the catholic church ordains men because that is what Jesus did and what the bible teaches. if you don =t like it invent your own religion but no, you have to try to make scripture say what you want it to say which shows you a liar and why post here?

Kathryn said...

@Anonymous 9:16

That is not what Jesus did. Women were quite active in the early Jesus moment. Paul might later say in a letter to Timothy -- but scholars dispute whether Paul could have been its author -- "I do not permit women to teach" -- but I do not answer to the author's personal predilection for who he allows to teach. In that same letter, bishops are married. Doesn't that contradict current Catholic practice?

As for your question, why am I posting here? That is a good question. What is "here"? I thought this was a blog that analyzes statements, looking for indications in a person's speech as to whether they are being truthful. I came because I was disturbed by Davey Blackburn's statements and manner after his wife's brutal murder, and I felt a sense of grief for her and a sense of grief that justice might not prevail in this case. That's how I found this site. It does seem that I might have arrived somewhere that is different from what I thought. Some people seem to throw accusations around quite easily. Should I be surprised that I am now referred to as a liar? I do believe that something is strange in the Blackburn case. However, I am staggered by how wild some of the speculation gets, and the accusations to the point where Davey becomes the, or at least "a[n]" anti-Christ.

I see the same kind of pile on with the analyses of Muslims. It is as if human beings can't oppose ISIS without demonizing the entire group of Muslims utterly, and accusing them all of depravity in their very essence. I think Davey's actions after Amanda's death are troubling and deserve scrutiny, but I don't think I need to imagine him as the anti-Christ to pursue a desire for justice. There is the possibility that he is innocent of involvement in his wife's death. A case must be built with evidence; it must be proved. It is justice that I hope for, for Amanda.

So, tell me, where have I landed? Is this a right wing blog? Then I should bow out. Does this blog desire to get at some kind of truth? I had hoped so.

It is not lost on me, anonymous, that you have told me to stay in my place as a woman, the kinds of accusation others here are making against Muslim men. My place as a woman is where I am called, by my gifts and training. My place as a woman is no different than any other human being's place. My place as a Christian is following the humanity of Jesus of Nazareth, where it has called me and continues to call me.

I have not been considered utopian before; I think people who know me would consider me to be more on the dystopian spectrum. I have read The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, which was one of the hardest things I've read, in terms of the nightmares it gave me. More recently I have studied the work of Bonhoeffer, especially his Letters and Papers from Prison. I went over to Israel and Palestine a few years ago, went through the military checkpoints to the other side of the wall, and learned from people on both sides of the wall who work for reconciliation. I remember standing in northern Israel near the border with Syria, and knowing that there was a civil war going on in Syria, and that there was great violence taking place. In the time since I was there, it has become so much worse. I don't think I would even stand at that overlook where I stood that day. I have followed the news from Syria since that day I stood there. I wonder that I saw little condemnation of what Assad was doing in those years, or of pictures of his brutalities, or of how many have died under his regime.

And no, I am not the coworker who would have organized the San Bernandino baby shower. I'm not good at organizing parties; many of the details that make successful parties elude me. I would, however, have attended it. People didn't know, not because they are stupid and naive, but because the actions of individuals who would do this kind of action are hard to predict. Other mass shooters, who were not Muslims, were also not recognized by people around them prior to the act for being capable of it. Are you blaming people who organized and attended the baby shower?

No need to trouble yourself to answer my question, "Where have I landed [here on this blog]?"

I can see it myself in the two latest "analyses" published today. I am in the wrong place. I want no part of the anti-Muslim and anti-Obama screeds posted on this blog. I don't know if the blog has always been this way or if this is something new. But I am in the wrong place. I did appreciate the comments of a few people on this blog. But otherwise, this is no place for fruitful dialogue. I'll let myself out the door.
