Video: The Murder of Amanda Blackburn

Author and Editor unknown, but a compilation with some commentary on the case. I hope the organization takes down each video in which Blackburn humiliates, insults, 'corrects, or 'over-talks' Amanda. I hope they take down the video where he pulls out a gun. If Blackburn is associated with the shooter, the videos will be in court. If Blackburn has no association with the shooter, they are insulting to Amanda Blackburn's memory, and to her parents who do not need to see this man parading on stage telling the world that his wife could not meet his sexual needs

this is chilling. It is good to see someone outside of this blog is hearing what we are hearing and saying what we are saying.

Notice, when Amanda is sitting along side DB while he is talking, she keeps her eyes on him. But, you never see hear nodding her head in agreement of what he is saying.

Her sadness is clearly evident. It breaks my heart.

I've never heard anyone who talked in church like that! And what did he mean when he said something like "you know how it is we're resonate" ? Is the whole church philosophy or whatever centered around sex? And I've gotta say this , but saying you'd lay down your life for your wife is a lot different than essentially giving up every part of yourself on your husband's whim to do as he pleases (submit).

he is unable to talk without preaching. Can you imagine living with someone like that?

Is it possible/likely that LE suspects DB was involved so they cleared him early on and then provided such an odd mix of info/misinformation thru the press in order to make DB feel comfortable so that he would do exactly what he is doing? And eventually slip up?

I ask this because I recently moved to Indy from a city that is in the top 5 most dangerous cities in the US and LE in that city handled murders (which were frequent) in a much more logical/strategic manner than this case is being handled. Just trying to make sense of all the random/odd info I keep reading.

I have personally never followed a case with such bizarre coverage. And, I have never had such an instinctual feeling of "the husband did it". It may just be that I am suspect of religious people and how society handles their issues with kid gloves, but this mess (videos/etc) is just freaking weird. And, he is 100% either watching this feed or being coached by someone who is...the turnaround in the last couple of days proves that. Thanks!

I don't know if anyone else has posted about this but, yesterday, I.D. aired a show--I believe it was part of a series called "Happily Never After."--that featured a young married couple who were devoutly religious and had taken a "purity pledge" prior to marrying.

One day, early in their marriage, the husband came home to find his wife dead, killed by a gunshot to the head. She was 12 weeks pregnant.

An analyst or profiler then said the the 12 week mark was significant because that is when a fetus is deemed viable and when couples feel it is "safe" to announce the news.

Needless to say, this all seemed to "resonate" with the current case. I wonder if I.D. purposely aired this show when it did or if it was just a coincidence.

(I've been disturbed by this case from the start. Thanks for your insightful blog.)

Oh, I forgot to mention that in the I.D. show, the husband was, indeed, the killer.

Where was that clip with her mom and dad from? Anyone have the rest of the footage of them speaking?

Also I think that part where he is talking about not remembering your wedding day, because you know we're resonante. Makes me think he's referencing people being drunk at a wedding. Perhaps a big party culture at the church? Or pastor davey just likes to throw out any kind of sex and drinking because he is so desperate to appeal to a "hip young crowd".

I'm disturbed by the lack of information about this case and how the bit of information that is divulged trickles out. It makes me feel like the IMFP really doesn't know how to handle this case.

It also disturbs me that the reward is still at $1000.00. This is outrageous. We're not talking about donations for a church or money to pay funeral expenses but the money that would entice someone who knows something to come forward and reveal it. $1000.00 is nothing. So the church reaps donations and the gofundme accounts get money (which, by the way, goes directly to the husband) but nothing more to the reward. "Begging" people to come forward is not an enticement.

And of course, I'm disturbed by this husband. He's acting the part of a bereaved spouse and not doing a very good job of it. It's like he's talking about a friend's wife and not his own. His wife who was pregnant with their child, who was sexually assaulted and then shot three times. Even the moments where his voice breaks is entirely unbelievable.

Also, this keeps sticking in my head "no forced entry". No forced entry. Who opens their door at 6am to a stranger? Did he leave that door unlocked?

A few days ago I did an internet search, his name and "guilty", because there were red flags flying all over this case for me, and I ended up here. If we, supposedly untrained in the fine art of detection (apart from the blog owner who is trained), are very suspicious is it possible that the IMPD is also suspicious? I just can't get around the fact that this guy is guilty of something and it's more than just relieved to be free from being married to someone he clearly didn't love.

I have noticed that there is never much of a response to the DB's preaching, either in this video or the other few I have viewed on the church web site. But, if everyone, including his wife, is as uncomfortable with this preaching as they appear to be by the lack of roars of approval in the audience, then maybe this tragic outcome is not so unexpected.

DB's debauched and manic style is unnerving, even intimidating. I think he is pumped up and energized to see how far he can push it. I think his running of the mouth with all his nonsense on the talk show circuit is him seeing how far he can push it.

I too hope this is LE tactic--to let CD keep running his mouth until he incriminates himself. But, it sure is an odd method of investigation. Also, the newspapers's reporting is odd-so disjointed and using unnamed "sources." The reports come off as unreliable. Is FBI on this now?

Thank you for this blog. Extremely informative and interesting. This case has me mesmerized and saddened. Gut says Davey had something to do with it. Gut also says he isn't that bright. He doesn't come across as someone who paid a lot of attention in school. I think police probably already have evidence and are holding out till they have an airtight case. Sadly, I suspect the crime scene was a mess and why there has been little discussion of it by anyone. Messy crime scene=crime of passion. Points to the husband.

In the last video they made, she made a comment about after a date looking at your watch and saying something "man it's 9:30 and we still have to have sex". The tone was like it was a chore. His reaction was "WHOAAA". I wonder if his narcissistic ego was so bruised by this that he couldn't forgive her. Like how dare she humiliate him in a public forum by acting like sex with him was a chore...

I have heard of LE feeding misinformation to the press in order to confuse/trick the perp but only in the movies. Per his pushing the envelope in his mannerism/speech, I have seen the same showmanship/lack of gravitas in the behavior of the seminary students at the religious college I attended. It always made me want to scream...they were either blathering on about loving Jesus or they were stating something subtly provocative and/or entirely perverse and presenting it as a joke...because, ya know, as Believers they would never intend anything like that as anything but a joke.

His demeanor is odd, even for a narcissist. As I watched the pastor speak about his wife's murder on several occasions, I was struck by his odd comments, half smiles, and his seeming unwillingness to discuss what happened to his wife and baby, finding the killer or even talking about her personally. I have suspected from the get go he had something to do with it. With the confirmation that she was sexually assaulted, then his demeanor made much more sense to me. He is trying to move on and move past it because he does not even want to think, acknowledge what happened to her, perhaps because he is guilt-ridden. One thing he keeps repeating about Amanda is her love for Jesus and that she's in heaven. That is his consolation and probably the only consolation to relieve him of his guilt. Even a narcissist would be expressing some level of emotion, most of it would be for themselves and their loss. They'd be crying for what was taken from THEM. Instead, Davey just wants to move forward. Perhaps he hired someone and didn't believe she's be assaulted. Perhaps he assaulted her himself. I think another husband would feel so violated and distraught for losing their wife, mother to their kids, friend to a violent crime that happened in their home in the presence of their son. Someone who is not narcissistic would be devastated about their loved one's suffering. He just seems so sketchy.

Skeptic said...

Wow after watching this here are my guesses: they got into a bad fight, he kills her (or thinks he has). Somehow he covers this up - he would have to have help and fast. How would they arrange the staged robberies though hmmm. Because LE don't have a time of death this is hard to figure out. Adrenalin kept him going and he has been surprised that he might get away with it. I think he's going to come down though, He won't be able to maintain this facade. In his sermons he gets very personal - he puts himself out there. In fact, he's really just talking to himself , working out his own problems. I think he'll confess eventually.

why can't LE determine TOD? Is it because her organs were removed--my friend told me they take temp of liver. Sorry if I sound ignorant--I am ignorant as to how that's determined!:-) How long does it take to do autopsy to determine a TOD?

Anonymous said...

Either DB is a narcissistic sociopath, with a touch of something from the autism spectrum, or he is being coached and DID have some involvement in the murder. I strongly suspect he had knowledge of when the murder would take place. IMPD is not stupid; I'm sure they're handling this strategically. I have faith that IMPD will get to the bottom of this and arrest the right person/s. He's going to end up implicating himself by his lack of emotion and comments.

Skeptic said...

She didn't technically die - she was brain dead. The body stays warm - the body is alive but the brain is gone.

Gold said...

I am assuming that there is no TOD that relates to who killed her because the injury didn't immediately kill her? If that is the case, can they determine time of injury based on coag of blood found at the CS? Is it possible that he shot her before his daily trip to the gym in order to have an alibi in addition to clean himself up at the gym? The robbery could have been a coincidence since no video can confirm that the hoodie suspect entered the house? And, correct me if I am wrong, the neighbor didn't immediately call the police when gunshots were heard, correct?

I don't know if he had anything to do with it or not, but I recognize this type of narcissistic way of communicating and relating from other people I have known in ministry. If he had nothing to do with her murder, he's a familiar character I've seen over an over who believes himself to be a type of celebrity within the realm of Christianity. He actually believes everything he says, and may even use the term "we" legitimately. As a Christian, I often use "we" as being inclusive of all people who are following Christ with me in this life. I don't really think that is the case here, but could be...or he could be using "we" speaking of her family or even her sister he seems to be close to. I truly hope he is innocent. I'd like to think this incident will be a suffering that the Lord uses in his life to teach humility—but, as a narcissist, he seems to be basking even more in the glow of celebrity. Peter, you have been very insightful in all of this. I won't be surprised if he was behind it all, but honestly hope he is just another Christian celebrity who thinks he is some great benefactor to mankind representing Jesus. The Lord knows and the Lord, who offers grace to all through His Son, will prevail. I'm sorry for her little son, sorry for her family and friends, and hope to be able to say that DB has my sympathy as well. We will know soon, I guess.

The robberies had to have been staged. Something happened the night before. He then had help creating a story. He might have had some drug dealer connections through church outreach? Lots of addicts turn to religion to solve their addiction.

Wow, did DB ever love his wife? He's got a major problem with sex and I got a problem with him discussing his sex problems in church. I've been following this case and I believe he had something to do with his wife's murder. I hope this case just doesn't sit and is not resolved. DB is a freak show and why he still ahs a congregation is beyond me. Something to remember- the video says the reward is 1,000 but all money must go through church so really how much has he really gathered? He is someone I would like to punch the lights out of. He is disgusting.

Regarding how IMPD is handling this investigation...

I lived in Indy for several years and watched them handle several high profile cases. I never saw them react like they currently are. In fact when someone first asked me if I has heard about this, the first thing I noticed right away was how strangely IMPD was reacting.

Their usual handling of cases like this involves daily briefings and updates, putting out photos and sketches asap, reassuring the public constantly that they are working tirelessly to solve this, telling everyone Indy is still a relatively safe city and that they will catch this guy.

The fact that they have been largely silent so far tells me that they are being very careful about this investigation. I have no doubt they are withholding info to protect their investigation. I was really intrigued by their press conference when they seemed to make very specific statements to the suspect. I can't recall seeing them do something like that before. I think despite what they've said publicly they are still considering everyone a potential suspect. I think they know exactly what they are doing and are being really strategic in what information is being released.

GeekRad said...

I have to think it is related to the church. Maybe someone believing they are protecting he and the church? Knowing she was pregnant and going to need more of his time? Or that he was unhappy so they solved the problem for him? His preaching's are odd to say the least so I am going to take the leap that so are the members of the church. It would not be the first time murder for the sake of the church took place. No forced entry rings bells for me that she knew her murderer and let he/she in. The only thing throwing me off is the use of her credit card and the other burglary and surveillance photo. But I guess if you are staging a robbery that fits. Regardless, he speaks and behaves with guilty knowledge- be that knowing the truth or guilty that he isn't feeling badly about Amanda's death.

Question:

His Q&A about the browser reporting his activity to his head pastor and wife, and his comments about apps to get around this clearly surprised his wife... Is anyone else thinking perhaps it was not just porn viewing they were monitoring him for?

1) he said they were coming up on 7 yrs of marriage...and the first kid is 15 mos, so they went over 5 yrs with no kids...then within one year, he has one kid and another on the way...this put a huge dent in his sex life with her.
2) he said he goes on trips frequently, AND talks about his constant failure to protect and GUARD his purity...
3) Hook up apps

I am wondering if he had associations with one or more ladies while traveling, and they were also monitoring him to prove he was not still messing around...He had mentioned booze many times, and it occurred to me perhaps he hooked up in the hotel bar, and she saw evidence of this later online, or saw a credit statement or suspect receipt, and THIS is why he was being watched by them, not just viewing porn, since you CAN block those sites.

Why the need to prove it every week, voluntary or otherwise, unless something BAD already happened requiring the head pastor to verify to Amanda she was not being lied to again...

CD needs to take acting classes, that was THE WORST fake ass cry I think I've ever heard...ESPECIALLY since he was SMILING while doing it EVERY TIME.

Also, OPN, His eyes are indeed dilated, more than 4 cm, and the light is bright enough to reflect off his teeth, buttons, nose, hair, forehead...

dialated definition: more than 4 cm in bright lights.

However, you are correct.

They are not dilated all the time, but are NOTICEABLY dilated in several videos.

I could snip the images and do a scale measurement, but that is not necessary..its quite easy as there are scale references present, like the diameter of his iris, which is obviously constant...

I've just scanned through DB's entire Twitter page. .....I am now not so sure what to think about him. I had made a comment yesterday about his seemingly normal posts about his new baby, being a dad, etc. There are comments about how he "loved this wife even more than ever," how he had weekends alone with baby Weston while his wife was away, several photos where he references being out with just him and baby. ....These things seem rather normal and like moments many of us have had.

Also, on the narcissism, we're probably finding out there's a bit of narcissism in many people as we see from all the posting on line.

I'm not looking at this more from a crime of passion viewpoint. Based on his Twitter personality as it relates to his family, I don't think he abused his wife, Amanda. Sadly, I think they both bought into the 'women is inferior" bit of their religion. I'm not sure it bothered her as much as it bothers all of us. Just my opinion....

Something pushed him over the edge and he's clinging to his religion to find a way to justify it. He will likely now talk his way into a corner and confess.

Yes, why had the CHURCH not donated more to the reward? Perhaps they are broke and don't want the members knowing, since they contribute to the plate?

And this: If Amanda was a stay-home mom with her first kid, why the heck did she need a nanny so early, and a live-in at that? I'm a career mom who put myself through a west coast Ivy league as a single parent, and even if I was able to afford a Nanny when my kids were INFANTS, who are not hard to care for, I would not have done it.

Most first time mothers(and dads too) will elect to stay home and bond, and many do not trust their new babies with a total stranger, no matter how nice and stable they seem(thats why nanny cam was invented, but there are always blind spots it can not see).

I am ultra curious why they had a young live-in Nanny (I'm betting she is attractive, see plight of Gwen Stefani...same exact reason I became a single parent, daddy and the Nanny) if she was the "perfect mother".

Perfect mothers do not need a Nanny, they are IT, but then again, no matter what CD says, NO ONE IS PERFECT< NOT EVEN AMANDA...we are all fallible humans

I'm wondering if the Nanny was his idea, so she could get some "me" time...and if he went through the selection process with her or not.

The reason I say this comes from experience: my ex found a reason to say no to every Nanny we checked out until he saw the one that excited him sexually, I was too young and naive to realize why he was so damn selective, and why he insisted, through his dismissal of candidates, that the Nanny be a young white female, who was thin, and hot and single...LOL live and learn for me, :C not for Amanda unfortunately. I feel terrible for her, and anyone who actually loved her. My condolences to you folks. I hope you get the closure you need, and soon.

Revising my armchair detective theory: they get in a bad fight, she goes to bed. Enraged, he shoots her in the head. Is it possible to muffle gunshot sound with pillows/blankets? Arranges for staged robberies plus two additional gunshots through criminal contacts -maybe relapsed addicts who once attended the church (probably lots of addict trying to get clean in a church like this). He gets very very lucky because she's not technically dead and no time of death can be determined.

She has been described as a babysitter, not a nanny, I think. It is only people outside of the situation who have started using the word nanny. But anyways, maybe I shouldn't argue, because nanny is a subjective term when I think about it. I used to watch 2 kids for 3 afternoons a week and they called me a nanny, not a babysitter. But it wasn't a nanny like in the Hamptons or something where you are like a surrogate parent. It was just that I was the steady person who regularly watched these kids. A babysitter is a teenager who is called to babysit occasionally on a Saturday night. A nanny is a regular caregiver, even if it is very part time. So I'm ok with call this person a nanny as long as people don't think it means that the nanny does all of the mothering while the bio mom is off getting massages and manicures. I think Amanda had a business restoring furniture, so she needed someone to watch the baby while working with chemicals.

What's been bothering me is his lack of mention of how he found her or their last words to each other. I remember every last word I've said to every last dying family member even 30 years later. Wouldn't he have said, "I was leaving for the gym and we said I love you to each other before I left." Last words are forever imprinted on the brain, my daughter's 19 year old friend left our house and got killed a few miles down the road in a rollover accident. I remember every word as she left the house. Last words can either haunt you for life or comfort you.

Also, the police may have told him not to comment on how he found his wife but surely he could say something like, "I was the one who found her, it was the most horrible moment of my life but I was so glad my son was ok".

Skeptic said...

One more thought and then I must get something done today....
Maybe someone confessed some criminal behavior to him - like they'd murdered someone. He keeps it secret and now they owe him. He could thus force them to commit or participate in the murder of his wife.

I think that he hired someone to do this. Indy is a pretty scary place and there are many neighborhoods you don't want to walk through. (Theirs wasn't the kind I am talking about) Look up crime stats and you will understand. It wouldn't be hard to find a couple of young gangbangers or drug dealers or even wannabe thugs and set this up. Maybe he even got the idea because of the home invasions and shootings that permeate the nasty parts of the city.

He would have known that his neighbors are often gone and could have told them to go there first, to create a motive: robbery. He made sure he was at the gym so he has an alibi. He could have taken her credit cards and left them anywhere while he was out and about, figuring someone unrelated to the crime might find and use them, taking more suspicion off of him and those he hired. Or the thugs he hired were stupid and took them, or took them as payment. The sexual assault might not have been part of the plan but the dumb teens he hired saw an opportunity and took it.

I live near Indy and my husband works in the city. The police are not handling this the way they usually handle these types of crimes and believe me, Indy is a cesspool, the police have had plenty of experience with heinous break ins and random shootings.

I really hope he's seeing all the skepticism of him on the Internet. He needs to see that he's not smart enough to fool people. Detectives are smart. None of this guy's inconsistencies and unusual behavior is lost on them. And a guy like that won't be able to stop doing interviews, and he won't be able to stay off the stage for long. He will be his own downfall.

Hi, I'm new here. The discussion here is very good.

I looked into Amanda's sister's Facebook page. She looks a lot like Amanda. Were they twins or just very close in age? Now, in the long Q & A video Davey tells about he and his friend wanting to meet friends to date so they could hang out together once they were married and that how they had ended up marrying sisters. OK, back to the sister's Facebook. She has a LOT of photos posted. Get this, the sister and her now husband (Davey's friend he was referring to in the video) and Amanda and Davey had a double wedding. There are lots of photos there. The photos look like the wedding was "on stage" for show. I just find it really strange. I have a bit of questions about the sister. She and Davey? I don't know. The double wedding and her last post about being with Amanda when she died are just, um..., very unusual to me.

Another thing. the grainy shot of the "suspect" that police have released ... it looks like that person is wearing a lighter hoodie with a darker jacket on top. Now, look at the videos of Davey and Amanda at the train station stop - light hoodie and darker jacket. I just hadn't seen this mentioned anywhere on here.

I sure would like to hear the 911 call.

Dear Anon,

yes there actually is enough time in the day for all that. I did it, my firends did it, and almost every woman I know with kids that is NOT FINANCIALLY WELL OFF have raised kids and kept house, even working too, without a NANNY.

Most women in the world DO NOT have a Nanny, and have MULTIPLE children and a household to run, with DAD gone all day...this is proven by history and by statistics...

I'm not buying it, 'cause AMANDA did not have a job(not judging, only stating fact as we have been shown by the info put out there), only home and church...

They did not need the extra income, or she'd have been working out of necessity, like MOST families that struggle with both parents working, daycare/Nanny becomes a must at this point...

A nanny was then NOT NECESSARY to the success of the household...That is why I question it...Both of my Grandmas had 6 or more kids, and kept the house too...without a Nanny...I can see a Nanny for a mom attending college due to the classes and workload, but that was not the case either...

A nanny is often a first-world privilege of those that can afford the luxury...The hours add up and they are not cheap. Childcare is EXPENSIVE, Nannys more so than daycare centers, or home childcare centers. This is currently a national hot topic for several reasons I will state below.

This also begs the question "Was their Nanny a CPR certified, bonded caregiver/Au Pair, or were they calling a BABYSITTER the Nanny?", as there is a big difference.

If she is not infant CPR and 1st aid cert, why on earth did they leave the baby with her? One episode of choking can be the end of your precious child...

Check out the lady in the news who's infant son died in daycare recently, its all over the news right now as she questions this very subject--he died because they neglected to check on him while he was sleeping, and did not do CPR correctly when it was discovered he was choking in his sleep...come to find out, UNLICENSED, no CPR certs.
Daycare is necessary for working parents who need either the income or the health insurance...somehow I don't think the Blackburns were in that position.

Which type of family was this then, if CD received $100K and a FULL YEARS SALARY up front to move there?

Also, if her work she did that required a nanny was for the church, why not use the church daycare? Did they have one? Where was it she made trips to that left CD all weekend with his son? 'Cause that sounds like DAD needed the nanny, not MOM.

What I noticed from the video (aside from what everyone else has said about DB and Amanda, which I think is spot on) is that most of the women have the nearly the same hairdo - Amanda, her sister, her mother, the woman with the dark hair and black eyeglasses... not that it makes a difference, but it just struck me.

Anonymous said...

Right, of course, Dad would need some help on the weekend when mom was away......never thought of that. Good point. So, maybe he had something going on with Meghan, the nanny/babysitter, at this time?

Anonymous said...

No one has come out and said it but I think Meg the babysitter is fat. That means nothing in itself but firsf off maybe she (or a random idea od a GF) was a sex kitten in bed and also maybe he would feel extra special good that she was flawed and he wasn't? Who knows.

Im off the fence and totally on the side of: he did it. He killed her. It may havae even been the night before or during the night. Maybe zhe rebuffed hus sex and he got mad and decided to make her submit and force s bunch of stuff on her?

He is clearly to me very very unstable. I was kind of releived thinking well at least she didnt suffer. But fhe truth of it could be that she suffered for hours.

We don't know the timeline, we only know when he checked in and out of the gym, was there a back door he could have gone in and out of undetected by cameras? He strikes me as a sneaky fellow.

Anonymous said...

But anyways, maybe I shouldn't argue, because nanny is a subjective term when I think about it. I used to watch 2 kids for 3 afternoons a week and they called me a nanny, not a babysitter.

Most people will upgrade the term babysitter to NANNY, as it has a financial association attached to it.

BABYSITTER conjures images of teens watching the kids, and if you hire a BABYSITTER then you can't obviously afford much better, TEENS are not legally responsible to care for the kids unless 18+.

Upscale it to Nanny, you seem more affluent. It was not a coincidence they used NANNY, as terminology reflects something about the family success. You don't see execs or rich folks hiring BABYSITTERS, do you? Nanny is a status symbol, and there is a distinction between the two, but most people use Nanny for these reasons.

This video’s author tries to manipulate viewers into believing Davey Blackburn killed his wife because he/she doesn’t approve of the “submit to your husband” message and Davey's marriage videos. Sorry, but “wives, submit to your husbands” is in the Bible. This doesn’t make him guilty of killing his wife. Yes, Davey tried too hard to be “edgy” with his unprofessional marriage videos. He tried too hard to present Resonate as the cool, hipster church. That’s annoying, gimmicky, and some would say inappropriate for a Christian church, but that doesn’t make him guilty of killing his wife either. It only reveals him to be desperate for church members. He'll say anything to be known as super edgy church for young families in Indy. What was truly spooky in this video wasn't immature, desperate-for-parishioners Davey, but the overburdening music straight from a Twighlight Zone episode.

When DB changes topics after briefly answering the news reporter’s questions, this is what’s occurring. With DB’s “job”, he must always be upbeat because evangelical churches sell the brand “you’ll always be happy when Jesus has saved you”. When he was finished answering George’s question, he couldn’t just stop talking, so he rambled on trying to market his church. He can’t leave any pauses in conversation because he must always try to “make that sale” for his “job” (recruit more church members). The evangelical mega church pastor is, sadly, exactly like a hungry car salesman in this regard.

IMO, this is where Davey IS guilty. He has poor, immature pastoral judgement. He should change careers and sell used BMW to annoying hipsters. He also didn’t respect the modesty of his wife while filming the hipster marriage videos. That means he could be an insensitive jerk to his wife at times. It doesn't mean he killed his wife.

Google "victim's family speaks". You'll find INNOCENT people who answered the reporters' questions about their loved ones' murders and they used the pronoun "we". Although asked to give their own opinion, they answered for their entire family using that pronoun. It's possible that Davey had Amanda's parents and sister were staying at his home and he answered some questions with "we" for the family. It's also possible that his immaturity/insecurity caused him to distance himself from some questions.

Also Babysitters do not live in your house, but Nannies do...Mary Poppins=live in Nanny, not babysitter...there is a difference.

Why is it still being reported that Amanda had been sexually assaulted? Yesterday Lt Riddle IMPD spokesperson denied the previous report that they had determined she was sexually assaulted. He said they have DNA evidence in this case, and have not confirmed and are unable to say if she has been sexually ABUSED. The term being changed to sexual abuse says they are looking at a whole different scenario surrounding their physical findings. This is so key, why is it not being pointed out?

Isn't the house a crime scene still? Has it been released back to him?

Also, I agreee with OPN that he could be answering for the whole family, but I think not as he was asked about HIS feelings, and to clear HIMSELF, not the whole family of suspicion, and he still used WE, along with not even an UNRELIABLE denial, or refute of unwarranted suspicion...that is why it is suspect, he refuses to answer for himself solely when asked to, and instead switches from I to We in avoidance of the personal commitment I comes with.

Just a thought--a sickening thought: I read in other discussions about three wounds (head, abdomen, hand). Perhaps the abdomen shot was intended for the unborn child. If she grabbed her abdomen and the shot went through her hand; maybe that is what is meant by trying to protect her child?

Also, given the theme of his negative views of women; if the two thought the baby was a girl maybe he was even more upset that it wasn't a son. The name Everett also sounds more masculine to me.

Based on comments he made "I've always wanted a boy . . .(pause, quickly adds) and a girl." Seems they may have argued over the name.

Hope none of that is true.

I hope LE has her journal. When he talks about reading it a few days before she was killed, he stops himself and then sort of clarifies that he read it after she died. I wonder if he didn't read it before she died and there was something that set him off.
I also wonder about the computers and his internet report. Was that set up ahead of time to cover what he was really doing on the computer. Did he purposely create this to give LE a completely different picture of who he is. Or was it set up to see what she was doing instead. Was he spying on her every move?

Here is a similar murder from 1988. Although the victim's husband and babysitter were (and probably still are) the likely perpetrators, the police were never able to build a prosecutable case:

Nanny sounds affluent but it's not. I was paid about $8 per hour with no benefits and I reported it as income so parents could get tax deduction. It was only about 15 hours a week. I was in college, it was an easy job because I like kids and enjoyed finger paininging and going exploring with them. Parents were not rich. Prob about $50,000 a year with dad working full time and mom part time. But rich or not, I was the nanny. I don't remember if they started calling me the nanny or if I did myself. Maybe I did because it sounds better to tell your friends that you have a job as a nanny then to tell them you babysit.
The person in question didn't live at the house because she was a nanny though. She lived there because she was in process of moving out to Indianapolis and they let her stay there for few months. I looked at her social media feed early on and it seemed like she was returning the favor of free room and board by entertaining the baby.
I thought it was a little creepy, though, because it seemed to me that she was single-white-female ing Amanda. She moved from Blackburns old hometown to their new hometown. She started doing same furniture refinishing as Amanda. Started same kind of business as Amanda. She seemed to kind act like baby was hers when she posted pics and video. Maybe she just liked and admired Amanda. But I thought it was unusual.

When someone is shot in a home invasion, how often are they shot in the abdomen? Head shot makes sense to me if they wanted to kill her. I understand being shot in the hand because you are immediately going to put your up to block the bullet via natural reflex. If she was fleeing I would understand a shoulder or neck shot, but not an abdomen shot. Probably reading too much into it...

http://fox59.com/2015/11/20/sister-of-potential-suspect-in-amanda-blackburns-murder-defends-her-brother/

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Nov. 20, 2015) - More than a week has passed since 28-year-old Amanda Blackburn was shot and sexually abused during a brutal home invasion at her northwest side home on November 10.

IMPD investigators are still questioning potential suspects-- and Friday, FOX59 talked with the sister of one of those men.

Jalen Watson, 21, was arrested for a parole violation and possession of marijuana Thursday afternoon.

The arrest was made by IMPD Homicide officers. Watson’s older sister Geornita talked with us at her home about Jalen’s arrest.

She says her brother called her from jail Thursday evening.

She believes Jalen didn’t have anything to do with the murder of Amanda Blackburn.

“He told me that he’d been locked up and I’m like for what? What did you do? It startled me because he hadn’t been in any trouble so, he’s like well, they said something about a murder or something, Geornita I don’t know what they’re talking about, like I don’t know anything,” said Watson.

Watson has a lengthy criminal history that includes burglary, theft, possession of a controlled substance and gang activity.

His sister says he was in the process of turning his life around.

Blackburn, a mother and wife of a local pastor was shot in the head, sexually assaulted and died two days after the incident.

She was also 12 weeks pregnant with her second child.

DNA evidence was collected in the Blackburn case. At least three suspects were swabbed for DNA that could possibly link them to the crime.

No arrests have been made yet in the case.

If you know anything, call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.

One thing is clear: Davey is not lost without Amanda. He is quite comfortable with death. Moving on (starting over) is his main objective, not finding the killer. He's not afraid, sad or distraught. Not even for his son. He is not looking for justice for Amanda, the murdered mother of his child. They way he delivers sermons/interviews he comes across more like a mix of a rapper and a dramatic soap opera actor, not a man of God. He's a man-boy: Childish, show-offish, immature, self-centered, self-absorbed and lacks wisdom. Its evident he likes to hear himself speak. His body language is appalling. In the video he thrusts his lower body forward when speaking from his "stage" about his favorite subject: sex. CREEPY, sly, suggestive and cunning. He has all the signs of a sex groomer. He is not someone I would trust either of my daughters with. If one has to look at the floor while at the gym to prevent oneself from perverted thoughts when in view another woman, he has a sickness. It's an addiction. He is a sex addict. He has told us so. I can barely stomach hearing him speak, he sickens me. Based on what I've seen and know about him thus far he spends his time googling himself to see what people (or has CD would see it: his fans) are saying about him. He's seen he comments, the haters and majority who are not buying his story and lies evident by his change in speech/dress/fake tears in recent interview. The ring fondling made me throw just a little bit. He loves himself more than he ever loved Amanda or Weston.

Inside Edition reported that the investigation shows that the suspect had allegedly robbed a house two doors down from the pastor's house. After seeing the pastor leave his house early Tuesday morning, the suspect was spotted outside the house, and several neighbors called the police. Unfortunately, the suspect had entered the house and shot Amanda Blackburn in the hand, abdomen, and head. The pastor returned from the gym around 8:30 a.m. to find his unconscious wife on the floor. Their 15-month-old son, Weston, was in his crib upstairs and was not harmed. Amanda was 12-weeks pregnant with the couple's second child.

She was 13 weeks pregnant, and the child did not survive, family spokeswoman Suzanne Swift said.

The Blackburn's neighbors have been very helpful in the investigation, authorities said, but they stressed that others who might know about the crime need to come forward. It also shows a dark colored SUV. Police are investigating if there could be a connection.

Earlier this week, police said they had established no links at that time. Resonate Church posted on its Facebook page that Davey returned home from the gym and discovered that someone had broken into his home and found Amanda with a gunshot wound.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Sgt. Kendale Adams said detectives are "following up on several leads".

"I've been married 44 years and been in the pastorship for 34 years and I can't imagine what it would be like trying to function without my wife", said Pastor Anthony Pippens of Greater New Hope Church.

"For those who killed Amanda, we are coming", Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter said.

So many of you, literally from around the globe, have come together to pray for Amanda Blackburn.

Unfortunately, the suspect had entered the house and shot Amanda Blackburn in the hand, abdomen, and head.

Blog post Davey Blackburn in 2006
Someone talked about this at memorial service, but here it is in his own words

Part 1
Lent Hurts

I don’t have a whole lot to say tonight cuz, frankly, I’m pretty tired and I’m still trying to get over this flu that’s been going around. B.T.W. (By The Way) if you haven’t read Kenneth’s blog for yesterday, check it out. It’s awesome! There is a link on my sidebar that you can follow (There & Back).

My thoughts were pretty crummy today until God smacked me in the face. Normally I wouldn’t tell you guys about this but to be honest, I want my life to be transparent for everyone to see. I want you to see my weaknesses and how God uses those to strengthen me. Last night, my girlfriend told me that she was giving me up for Lent. My first reaction was something like, “What!? That’s crazy! Why would you give up something that’s going so well? Doesn’t God want us to be relationships that challenge us to seek Him, and are fruitful? Doesn’t He want us to be happy, especially if we are impacting each other so well spiritually. He doesn’t want us burying out talents, right?”

My girlfriend lives 12 hours away from me. WOW! Just thinking about that seems like forever away. Neither one of us are very good “phone” people but we’ve done so well, and the phone has really been the major vehicle for our relationship. Good, long, fruitful, fulfilling, and challenging conversations on the phone are all that we have had to grow on these past five months. So when she told me that she had to give up talking to me for Lent because that is what she felt God wanted her to do, my mind was racing with a ton of PRACTICAL objections. (b.t.w. God doesn’t work practically) I mean we were talking about the extent of our relationship—PHONE CONVERSATIONS. Take our phone conversations away and you have no relationship, right?

Again I tell you guys this because I want you to see how wrong I have been in approaching this scenario. If she knew I was posting this on my blog for everyone to see she would probably not be very happy. Good thing she is computer illiterate. HeHe. My initial response to her, though, was shock and dismay. Why would she want to give me up for Lent? She proceeded to inform me that I was the only thing in her life that she would really notice and suffer over if I was gone because she cares about me so much. “That’s flattering, so why are you giving me up?” And as flattering as that is, selfishly (my human nature kicked in) I didn’t want to give her up for forty days. That’s a long time! Initially, my thought was that she was just over-spiritualizing things and that she just wanted to find something that she could suffer for to show Jesus that she is willing to suffer for Him.

Hmmm said...

Part 2
Lent Hurts

THAT’S WHEN GOD SMACKED ME IN THE FACE!! I could not have been more wrong. And I want to apologize to her before everyone. Because while inside I was accusing her of having wrong motives, I was having the worst motives of all! I’m so blessed to have a girlfriend that would follow God’s direction before her own agenda. I’m so blessed to say that my girlfriend loves Jesus with her whole heart and she’s not going to let anything stop her from being obedient to Him. I’m so blessed that she is only reliant on God and not our relationship!

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” -Proverbs 31:30

And while I’m affected by this decision, it shouldn’t matter! The Matt Redman song keeps popping in my head. “You give and take away. You give and take away. My heart will CHOOSE to say. Lord, blessed be Your name!” God blessed me with this amazing girl in the first place. Who am I to say that He can’t have her back any time He wants her. Amanda, if you’re reading this, I commend you and fully support you in your decision. And while these next forty days are going to be difficult, I know that God is going to reveal Himself in extraordinary ways—ways that He would never have been able to had we been wrapped up in each other during this time. Thank you, Amanda, for being sensitive to the Holy Spirit and for being bold in approaching me about it. “Stay off the paved road!”

BASEBALL UPDATE: Be praying for us this weekend as we’re going to Cleveland, TN for a conference series. We will be very purposeful in our conversations, and we will be praying that God will continue to reveal Himself to these guys, that they will recognize their need for a Savior. We have a handful who are teatering on the edge of accepting Christ and we don’t have the words for them. But God meets us in our weaknesses. Keep us in your prayers and I’ll let you guys know how things go when I get back on Sunday.

People hear "DNA" & jump to the conclusion that there was some sort of sexual assault. DNA evidence today is miles ahead of the 1990s. The DNA could very well be "touch" DNA from fingertips or saliva from a cigarette butt.

NO WONDER Davey had a browser service with reports sent to his wife and his head pastor...He is bragging and laughing about posting private things he thinks she will not like, and even goes on to say she will not find out, cause she can't run a computer...

Can this case and the misalignment to the lifestyle they advertised get any more contradictory or weird?

Just issue the reliable denial please Davey, so we can be done guessing and move on already? The suspicion would probably end, if you'd let it.

Are you frickin' serious? Delusional Koresh has absolutely no similarities with annoying Davey Blackburn. Koresh had a very difficult childhood and was raised by a teenage mom who married multiple abusive men. He didn’t have a college education. The USA government stated that Koresh took all the females into his bed including children. Koresh’s cult members were poor and Biblically uneducated. Koresh had no ties to other churches. All his sermons centered on Doomsday. He declared that he was a prophet and finally, The Lamb of God. His parishioners kept a large cache of guns which frightened Janet Reno who approved tear gas to be fired into their compound. Koresh's 76+ followers were incinerated while they were alive.

RE: reward money

Over the course of several posts this question has popped up several times.

One commenter mentioned research showing that a monetary reward of more than $1000 for a tip does not lead to better tips, just more false leads from people who are coming forward just for the money. Ultimately this just makes more work for LE.

A poster in live chat who claimed an acquaintance with the parents said they wanted to raise the amount and had been asked not to by the IMPD (consider that an unsubstantiated rumor, however it makes sense given the situation).

This is not a scenario where a person has gone missing, which is where we frequently see sustantially larger rewards offered.CJ

There should be a comma between like and you know. "...losing the person that you feel like, you know, completed you..." a/k/a "losing the person that you feel completed you" when you take the need to persuade out of it!

Part 1. Death . . . The Final Exam

I asked you guys to pray for Amanda yesterday. I wish I could tell you how she and her family are doing after their loss. To be honest with you guys, I have no idea how to handle this situation. I feel so hopeless! I want so badly to call her, comfort her, let her cry and scream to me on the phone. I want most of all to walk through her door, embrace her, let her cry on my shoulder, and then wipe away her tears. BUT I CAN’T!!

It was a new side of Amanda that I was exposed to last night, her grieving side. I’d never “seen” her cry before (I guess I still haven’t since she was crying on the phone). Do you guys know how helpless of a feeling it is to hear the girl you care the world about hurting and not be able to do a thing about it? AAAAAHHHHHH! Even though it doesn’t seem like enough, I will continue to lay my requests before God. I think God is teaching me that I can’t humanly handle everything that I go through. I have to rely on His sovereignty and providence, especially when there is absolutely nothing I can do. So I know that somehow, through my prayers for her, God will comfort her heart and convey to her that I am carring for her and that I’m here for her.

My cousin died last semester and I began pondering some things about life and death. This incident with Amanda’s cousin has re-awoken some of these thoughts and questions in my own mind. The biggest question that I’ve struggled with is how do we as Christians handle death? Death is such a final thing. That’s the reason death is such a scary thing to think or talk about in our society – a taboo. There have only been a few cases of people crossing over into death and then coming back to this life; all of these had been brought back by the supernatural (Jesus). Check out the story of Lazarus in John 11. Even Jesus wept when he saw how Mary and Martha were pained over the death of their brother. Death is a scary and sad thing to think about, and Jesus

The bing maps streetside view shows a black SUV in their driveway. It's not in the google maps picture but there's another photo that was in the news that shows the SUV with a smaller dark car parked behind it in the driveway. Since it's shown up in two photos, I think it's likely it's theirs. I imagine her furniture projects took up room in the garage so they probably weren't always able to park the cars in there.

Part 2

is the only one who can conquer death.

I had a scary thought the other day. My dad was supposed to meet us over in Waleska, GA for the double-header on Sat. He called me well before the game while he was on his way, but by the end of the first game he still had not shown up. I was freaked out! A billion thoughts raced in my mind. Did he get in a wreck? Is he in the hospital? Is he dead? What do I do? Thankfully my dad showed up in time for the second game (he had just been caught in serious traffic in Atlanta), but for those few moments I was at a loss. I didn’t know what to do. I just couldn’t imagine my life without my dad! Even the thought of death is a scary thing!

As Christians we have the assurance that neither this life nor the grave is our final resting place (THANK GOD!). In fact Jesus is preparing a mansion for us in heaven and is looking forward to the day that we finally get to be with Him forever. My buddies and I often sit around and talk about what heaven is going to be like. Imagine the best house you have ever seen on MTV Cribs and it doesn’t even compare to what Jesus has waiting for each of us! We have this one guy on our team that asked me if Jesus would make him a grill (mouth bling) when he gets to heaven. I thought that was hilarious, but it’s awesome that he was looking forward to heaven! The point is that as Christians, we cannot even fathom how good heaven is going to be! No tears, no pain, no stress, no death, no fatigue – nothing but basking in God’s perfect presence forever! How awesome!

However, the last thing somebody wants to hear when they’ve lost a loved one is the ill-coined cliché: “He’s in a better place.” “That’s awesome, but how does that help this pain that I’m feeling? The point is that he’s not here right now and I’ll never see him in this lifetime again! I just miss him!” These are NATURAL reactions to the cliché funeral comment. So what can we do to console someone who is in pain over a death of a loved one? Be there for them. Love on them. Hold them if they want to be held, and back off if they don’t feel like being around anyone. Be there to just listen to them. I’m glad that I was at a loss of words when Amanda was telling me about her cousin. She was extremely upset and she didn’t NEED my words because frankly NOTHING I could say would help. After anything I could have said the pain would still be there. The only one who can heal that pain is Jesus, and all I can do is point her to Him! What did I do? I was a sound-board for her to bounce her pain and confusion off of and then I PRAYED WITH HER. That did more, I’m sure, than anything else I could have done! And I’m continuing to pray for her

Hmmm said...

Part 3

So what about death for non-Christians? Not a pretty sight! The Bible talks about a place of ETERNAL DAMNATION called Hell. We’ll talk about Hell some more another time, but the point of it is ETERNAL SEPARATION FROM GOD! You think this world is bad. Imagine the world with all of God’s grace, restraints, and presence taken from it; imagine a place where Satan has free reign to do whatever he wants. UTTER CHAOS! This is why it is so important for us as Christians to tell people about the hope offered in Jesus Christ. What if on judgment day the friends you hung out with on earth passed by you one-by-one on their way to Hell? What if they looked into your eyes and asked you why you never shared with them the secret to eternal life? The Bible says Ezekiel that we are the Watchmen for all mankind and if we don’t tell other people about the forgiveness offered through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, then their blood is on our hands; we are responsible for their eternal destination! That’s heavy! That among other things is what has motivated me to tell all my friends about how much Jesus wants a relationship with all of us.

If you guys have any suggestions of what I should do in helping Amanda cope with this death, feel free to comment. I’ve sent her a couple cards and letters, letting her know how much I care and that I’m here for her. I guess nothing I do will feel like enough. Stay in prayer for the baseball team, too. Let’s go to war on our knees together!

Who made this video? Peter - Did you create it or is it from another source.

I think his body language, in addition to his language, is very telling - does Statement Analysis analyze body language as well?

When he said in his most recent interview that "anyone with holding information should come forward" he pointed to HIMSELF when he said 'anyone'.

Also, he touched his face a lot, eyes went up to the left, and he had hands palm side up -- all signs of lying. He also does the shaking his head back and forth a lot when speaking in the affirmative, which is another sign of deception. Apparently people freeze their upper bodies and stay still when lying, which he also seems to do.

I am curious about others thoughts on his body language...

I was thinking, this morning as I was driving up to Hudsonville from an amazing Memorial Day weekend in Elkhart, about our relationships, particularly with our Heavenly Father. I wonder if God get's tired of long distance calls sometimes. I lay awake at night thinking about how much I would like to be with Amanda, just spending time with her on a daily basis, and sometimes I can't take the phone any longer. I just have to SEE her!

Another blog article by Davey. He talks about death. Similar to how he's been asking about death in relation to Amanda.

I wonder if us being on Earth is like a long distance phone call to God. I know the Holy Spirit is always surrounding us and God's presence is always with us. That's the beauty of Jesus' sacrifice; it made interaction with God available to everyone. But I can't help think that God looks forward to the day that we're in His presence in Heaven, "kickin' it" with Him all the time, personally. Maybe that's when He calls us home, when He can't take the long distance phone calls anymore and He just wants to see us and embrace us. Maybe death, the state that induces such mourning here on earth, creates an environment in heaven that blows away that of a New Year's Bash in New York City! The day that God takes us up in His arms and wipes all of our tears away will be even sweeter than when I embraced Amanda for the first time in 5 months.

why is crap like this still visible on this site, but as soon as someone posts even a slightly dissenting opinion from the "Davey did it" mindset, that person is shut down and their post deleted?

There are a lot of us who think that the husband is acting suspiciously, and are brought here through a news story. And then we see all of these suppositions of steroid and drug abuse regarding the husband, and that he's sexually perverted and forced sex on his late wife, and there is no reference to these extreme and shocking claims besides the church videos, which really are pretty benign. If someone here disagrees via a comment that the husband is a frothing, pupil dilated sociopath, they are ganged up on and ridiculed.

She was DB's intern where he worked before. She's the one who laughingly posted on Twitter that he sent her as an intern to buy a jockstrap and bib for him. She retweeted this last year. When she was planning her move to Indy to work again for DB, she grieved about leaving her perfect little yellow house. She moved in with DB and Amanda when she got to Indy where she did some babysitting and, I can only imagine, some extra things for DB! When the suspicions began about DB, Meg made her Twitter account private. I believe she is connected in some way and that he summoned her to Indy to help with his Amanda problem. I also wonder if she went to SC with him "to grieve" when he was out to dinner with other "lead pastors" and their ministry teams.

Why Everett? Everett is a boy's name. It means "strong as the wild boar". Not a nice name for a little girl.

(While I was researching the name Everett I came across this " .......And there’s a nod towards Everest as well, which makes us think of majestic mountains.

Speaking of mountains, Everett is a place name, worn by at least a dozen sites on the map, including a mountain range in remote Antarctica and more familiar suburbs of both Boston and Seattle.)

Hmmm., thought I, donning my tinfoil hat, mountains, where have I heard that in relation to this case? Then I remembered.

The babysitter's Instagram, along with all the "best is yet to come / nothing is wasted" signs had one which said
"The mountain that is before me shall be cast into the depth of the sea". And a comment saying I hope you can cast your mountain into the sea. Mountains are a metaphor for problems and worry. ( what do we worry about? Kids, spouses....)

Not content with making that link I googled "the mountain that is before me..." And found it's part of a hymn.

When I read the " my eyes are upon you" line....I thought hmmm and took off my foil hat.

He probably just named his poor baby Everett after a Cubs player

Oops here is the hymn

Through it all, through it all

Through it all, through it all

Far be it from me to not believe
Even when my eyes can’t see
And this mountain that’s in front of me
Will be thrown into the midst of the sea

I have a couple of statement analysis questions, I hope those of you who are more experienced can point me in the right direction.

In one of the initial interviews that Peter analyzed (found here: http://statement-analysis.blogspot.com/2015/11/statement-analysis-transcript-davey.html)

Davey Blackburn never mentions their unborn child. This is a non-introduction. He also does not claim Amanda with the pronoun "my" or the title "wife". So, clearly they had a bad relationship (which I think has been well established). According to statement analysis, they are not married.

But, what do you make of the non-introduction of the unborn baby? Is it fair to say, according to statement analysis Davey Blackburn did not lose a baby?

In the McCollum case, (The police chief accused of shooting his wife) Peter said that the lack of social introduction denoted extreme distancing and anger. (Found here: http://statement-analysis.blogspot.com/2015/01/911-call-of-chief-shoots-wife.html)

Is this the same thing we are seeing toward the unborn baby in this case? Extreme distancing and anger?

If Davey Blackburn did not lose a child, and showed extreme anger and distancing toward Amanda's unborn baby, is it possible he believed she was having an affair? I'm not saying she was, just that it would be motive and is one possibility that could cause such extreme distancing and anger. What do you guys think?

MemphisPat said...

ABB, I'm sorry I offended you. My comment was unkind so I will moderate myself.

MemphisPat said...

Brooke, I think the troubling thing about DB not mentioning Amanda's unborn child is that it is unexpected. A normal father would be torn up and talking non-stop about his love for both of them. IMO, Amanda was not the type woman to have an affair. I believe, as with many other husbands who have killed their wives, the pregnancy was the breaking point.

Davey preaches that women should submit to their husbands, sexually. He says outright, wives should have sex with their husbands EVEN WHEN THEY DONT WANT TO. Have you watched the videos?

In my opinion, feeling compelled to have sex with someone when you don't feel like it is akin to sexual abuse.

I think it's likely Davey hoped he could get away with having an affair. Because that's what he wanted, I think it's possible he projected those feelings onto Amanda and that may have led him to suspect she was having an affair.

I have had a post deleted even though I did not use profanity and only expressed my opinion that the husband was acting like most of the fervent Christians I have known in my 50 years in SC. Thanks MemphisPat,

You are right, it is definitely unexpected. Amanda probably wasn't having an affair, be he's such a narcissist that the suspicion alone could have pushed him over the edge - at least in my opinion.

Regarding the unborn baby, it is such an unexpected distancing in the language, to the point of a non-introduction. I don't understand what would cause it. I think for SA principles it is ok to say, DB did not lose a baby. It's possibly ok to say, he had extreme distancing and anger toward the unborn baby. The rest, for me was just speculation as to why. What do you think could have caused him to act that way?

Brooke, there is a whole spectrum of narcissism and his behavior seems to be at the extreme end of it. I believe he thought this very religious pretty girl who hardly knew him after mostly long distance dating would move in and give him any kind of sex he demanded any time he wanted it. He pretty much says that, doesn't he? It probably took her a while to realize she could have a voice, perhaps that happened after Weston was born. He could go to the gym for 3 hours every day and spend the rest of his time "working" (performing, in my opinion). My feeling (for what it's worth) is that he brought the babysitter who once was his intern, to Indy for moral and perhaps, practical support as he figured out how to get rid of his wife. She (Meg Griffith) may have taken care of business without even being told directly by DB. It would not surprise me if DB lost control and shot Amanda that morning and the babysitter (or someone else) did the burglary of the house where DB and all the other neighbors knew the owner would be out of town. Okay, so that's my longwinded opinion, Brooke! Aren't you sorry you asked?!

I'm a Fundamentalist Christian. I'm used to church services being a little more relaxed, looser, more casual. I don't mind a Pastor wearing jeans, or people raising their hands in worship, or music that is a little modern, or a sermon that veers from the traditional, as long as it is Scripturally sound and not too worldly.

Having said that...I am embarrassed for Davey and I am embarrassed for the Body of Christ, if that is his idea of a "sermon". There are lines you just don't cross as a minister, and he managed to jump over them all. No wonder my hinky meter is showing red. Her poor parents.

Brooke,

In the whole announcement segment, Amanda's name is not mentioned.

To clarify... I recognized some of the methods DB was doing on stage as some of the more modern techniques used in some churches. However...I have NEVER heard a sermon focusing so much, and so explicitly, on sex, in what I assume is a mixed gender service. That is not taught to new ministers (I know this for a fact). That is something DB did all on his own. If anything, ministers in training are taught the opposite; to not create such an atmosphere in a church service.

There are times when a frank talk about sex is needed with a new Christian, or one that has an addiction to pornography or casual sex. Sometimes, men and women are separated and talks about married sex take place. Ministers are taught when such a talk is needed and in what atmosphere and context. A mixed church service is NOT appropriate.

I'm just completely amazed that anyone would be drawn to this guy as a pastor.

what also is odd is that there is very little if any reaction about the case from other family members. I did see an article on the daughter saying that her sister talked to her or whatever. But I'm wondering if there is anything from family members OTHER THAN DAVEY.

I would love to hear what the parents think of his videos with their daughter and him. I gotta believe they think all this stuff he says is just as inappropriate as we all do for a pastor of a church.

OT Update:

Mark Redwine files to dismiss wrongful death lawsuit in death of son, Dylan Redwine

Father’s attorney argues statute of limitations has expired

Three years after his son Dylan Redwine’s disappearance, Mark Redwine has filed for dismissal of a lawsuit filed June 29 against him by his ex-wife, Elaine Hatfield Hall, for the wrongful death and loss of their son.

In a filing in District Court on Wednesday, Redwine’s attorney, Stuart Morse of Greenwood Village, said the statute of limitations had expired six days before Hall filed her lawsuit.

That is based on the fact that Dylan Redwine’s remains were found on June 23, 2013, and that is when the state of Colorado certified Dylan’s death, according to the motion.

“Plaintiff did not file her complaint until June 29, 2015, six days after the expiration of the statute of limitations,” the motion stated.

Redwine filed a motion to dismiss on July 22, as well.

Hall’s complaint said their son, Dylan, was visiting his father on a court-ordered visit Nov. 18, 2012, when he disappeared. A widespread search ensued, involving community members and local, state and federal investigators. On June 27, 2013, some of Dylan’s remains were found about three miles from his father’s home in Vallecito.

A parent in Colorado has the duty to provide proper parental care for a child, the lawsuit stated, and Mark Redwine breached that duty “when his conduct resulted in the death of their son, Dylan Redwine.”

It continued, “the death of Dylan Redwine was the proximated (sic) and direct result of the negligence of defendant.”

Hatfield also has suffered the loss of consortium with her son and suffered damages from that, the lawsuit stated.

In her lawsuit, Hatfield asked that she be compensated for damages, costs and fees. She also requested a 12-member jury if the lawsuit goes to trial.

To Anon who asked about the lack of reactions to his sermons, I noticed the same thing. I also noticed that he seems to try to prompt a reaction from the crowd by getting more vulgar/personal when one of his 'jokes' falls flat. It's cringe worthy to watch, like a stand up comic 'flopping' on stage!

I'm sure that my baseline for a church service is WAY different than this church, (Catholic) but I have been to lots of different denomination's services, and never felt uncomfortable like I do listening to him. He is SO over the top, and seems almost manic. What he is doing isn't preaching, it's imposing personal details of his sex life in an exhibitionist type of way. He invites/wants the congregation to be voyeurs of his sexual relationship. He repeatedly evokes images of what their sex life entails. It's inappropriate.

'Davey' isn't just making silly jokes about 'wanting it' all the time, he demeans Amanda as his punchline repeatedly. I imagine that for Amanda, (someone who took a purity pledge before marriage, and had little sexual experience) his over sharing was humiliating!

Hi CJ,

I just noticed that the title of the sermon you are watching where he announced that they were expecting is "worship as a weapon", on Nov 8.

Isn't that the same sermon where he produced a pistol on stage, and 'shot' at a target shaped like a person in a hoodie?! Two days before his wife and unborn child were shot dead, presumably by a person in a hoodie?!

John,
Not having viewed as many videos as some here, I decided a quick look at the Spiritual Warfare video would suffice if I could only stomach one. I didn't have to view it in its entirety to realize what may be going on. On that day, Pastor "Davey" was on vacation and Perry ruled the roost.

It started off with warm ups, quotes others can relate to, then a little into the subject-very little-he announced a drawing for a Harley for father's day. Soon he patted himself on the back for that commercial break and went back to the subject covering much to manual instructions.

Big box management style and watered down Bible.

Spiritual Warfare may be upon many members of the congregation as they are pressed to discern.

He should worry about his kids....Smokin' what he's sellin'...

I just scanned through the "Worship as a weapon" sermon, and YES, he seriously did whip out a pistol (air soft) during his sermon two days before his wife and newly announced addition were murdered, and repeatedly fire it.

Scroll to about 52:20, and buckle your seat belt on the train to crazy town!

Surely LE can't ignore the occurrence of such an unlikely coincidence!

Davey boy certainly has proved the S.A. principle that we say what's on our mind! (And act it out too, apparently!)

Jen Ow said...

Correction, he is wearing a black hoodie, as he shoots at a target off camera.

All I saw was the airsoft gun being used as a prop. That's okay if he is trying to relate to members of the congregation that may have unstable environments to live in.He, evidently, did little to make his area safe for those within his house as she knew prior. She knew.

CJ,

Thank you for the link, I'll watch that now!

At the 45 minute mark of his performance, Davey whips out a gun.

He is helping 'jesus' to get people to vote for 'him' because the message of 'jesus' is so weak and beggarly it needs such theatrical prompts.

That is the very best I can say about it and it tells you Davey's opinion of the Gospel of Christ.

The very worst?

How long after this was his wife and unborn chid murdered with a gun?

Here is yet another video that should be taken down in respect to Amanda's parents.

Nancy Grace has pulled a Tiffany Hartley. She cannot believe people think he is involved.

Didn't CD "choose" Amanda to be his wife because of her "Purity Pledge" (unkissed, untouched and unviolated)? Was he a virgin according to the same criteria?

One thing I've learned about these weapon pusher people: Whenever they are in the area, a person needs a weapon near every door and window.

MemphisPat,

I've been thinking about what you said. There is a whole spectrum of narcissism, and DB is definitely on the extreme end of it. I also believe you are right that Amanda possibly having an affair is unrealistic. It's not reflected in his language. What is reflected is a lack of love and empathy for everyone around him, consistent with narcissism.

I went back and looked through the initial interview and he shows the same disconnect with his son Weston. He does not call him "my son" or mention how he will be growing up without his mother, or what he would have experienced being in his crib while his mother was murdered, and then what he went through being alone for at least an hour after that. So, it's the same disconnect with both of his kids and Amanda. He doesn't claim any of them.

Then, CJ's link here: http://resonateindianapolis.com/mediacast/worship-as-a-weapon/
and the posting of DB's public birth announcement helped me understand too. The baby is mentioned only as an aside and immediately used as a reference for his virility. Amanda and Weston are not mentioned there either.

Plus Peter has referenced how pregnancy was a "stressor" on their marriage and John McGowan noted the order of importance to him: finances, his future, the church's future, the church's frailty, then kids. I'd be impressed kids made the list for him except that he was using this as a birth announcement! (Gag...this baby's birth announcement was a list of worries)

Perhaps he saw the kids as interfering with Amanda's ability to serve him and satisfy him (which is why they got the baby sitter/nanny to begin with?)

I don't know anything about the babysitter? Why do you think she was involved? I'm sorry, I haven't had a chance to read through all the comments on the recent posts, which I should have already done. DB definitely needs help, his personality makes it hard to understand if he did kill Amanda, or if he's just so messed up he's happy it happened.

It is hard for me to believe that this guy is a follower of Christian teachings. He acts more like a cult leader who wants to control and direct "his" audience in a "grand" manner.

He wants his message to the listeners to stand out above the message of Christ.

I agree that Davey thinks the message of Christ is weak. He thinks that without his own "spin" and theatrics that the audience will loose interest and turn their attention away from him.

This is a really odd statement:

“Our detectives believe this was a robbery likely to have gone foul,” said Indianapolis Metro Police Sgt. Kendale Adams.

Does crazy davy take steroids?

He gestures like the guy selling products on tv, "if you act now, we will DOUBLE
your order.."

On the burglar video, looks like pants are close to falling off,
that would not be a female.

Brook Kaelin,

The babysitter moved to Indiana from SC just a few weeks ago. Here's her Etsy store, https://www.etsy.com/shop/NothingIsWasted/about?ref=shopinfo_about_leftnav. She say's she was in ministry for 5 years, but not anymore. Uses the same quotes as Davey. Did he ask her to come? Did he know he would need someone to take care of the baby, or is she somehow involved? As of yet no one knows the true story.

Amanda had a dog, a rather large dog that loved her. There's a photo on instagram with the dog at Amanda's feet, she writes "Little me, literally never leaves my side" someone responds "little?" Where was the dog the morning of the murder. Surely would have tried to protect her.

I have a suspicion that Amanda lived a life of hell in the privacy of her home. I see Davey Blackburn as a narcissistic, sociopathic psychopath. Amanda was raised in a home that taught submission. My heart breaks for her and her son.

My guess is approximately 36-48 hours at most, between his bizarre gun wielding display, (which has zero connection to the idea of using worship to squash worry, which was the root message of his sermon).

He could have just as easily said, instead of worrying, you should worship. Instead he employed the imagery of using a gun to shoot your worries away. (A wonderful message for the children in the audience too!)

As in "foul play?"

Note the way he grips his wrist when handling the airsoft...like a gal.

Jen Ow said...

Hi Anon,

The prop had no basis in the analogy he was making. Crushing worry with worship, some how equals using a gun/weapon? I fail to see the connection. *(Also, what Christian message employs the use of weapons/violence against your problems, and worries?)

Even if he employed it purely to be shocking, or provocative, it still draws a gasp, and a side eye as to what a 'coincidence' it would be for him to put on this bizarre demonstration mere hours before his wife meets the same horrific end. That's a 'coincidence' that can't be easily dismissed.

SUCH a tough question to answer, every time: "What do you say to anyone who might know who did this?"

SO conflicted on that, SO confused, SUCH a conundrum!

(pause)...I mean...(sigh)...in our HEARTS we want justice, BUT....Amanda would want forgiveness! So I dunno - it's okay by me if you remain silent.

His body language, which I am no good at reading unless it is overt, and his is, tells more than his language, imo. The fashion police in me noticed his "fatigues" in one video.

These are the type to worry and fatigue those within their environment.

My post was referring to the police stating that "this was a robbery gone foul". Sorry.

Yeh that is so strange the reward has remained at the "chump change" amount of $1000.

Amanda's father pastors a local church near where I live. My wife and I attended there for about one year. Her father is a godly man. I do not believe he was aware of what was going on in his daughters life at resonate Church.

I really wish Amanda's father and mother would be speaking out publicly like DB is. The fact that they're not doing that can be interpreted several ways. I will not speculate on that.

I am however totally baffled at why the Reward money is not thousands of dollars. The church her father pastors very wealthy. They could easily come up with tens of thousands of dollars.

Davies words and body language speak for themselves.

I do not believe Amanda sister is crazy. She's mourning the death/Murder of her beloved sister.

My big questions: is there anyone who has been sitting under DB's teaching questioning him. From the outside looking in, it looks very cultish. Very sad to say. But it's almost as if he said "drink the Kool-Aid" they wouldn't question him.
