Missing Heather Elvis

Some national broadcasts turned to Horry County this week as the search continues for a Socastee woman missing since the week before Christmas, but authorities aren’t sure the attention will provide the lead that solves the case.
A task force in Horry County is working around the clock looking for 20-year-old Heather Elvis, who was last seen about 2:30 a.m. Dec. 17.
Searchers will return to Myrtle Beach on Saturday to look for clues in Elvis' disappearance. Volunteers who want to help should sign up at www.ncmissingpersons.org/volunteer-online-2/
Volunteers should report at 9 a.m. Saturday to the corner of Dick Scobee Drive and Ronald McNair Road in Myrtle Beach, according to CUE Center officials. Searchers must have picture identification and dress for the weather as well as wear long sleeve shirts, long pants, and proper footwear.
Volunteers also will have a tent set up near the railroad tracks off River Oaks Drive from 5 to 11 p.m. Friday to accept tips about Elvis' whereabouts.
Lt. Robert Kegler, with Horry County police, said he’s not sure whether the national attention the Elvis case received this week has been helpful.
Elvis’ disappearance was talked about on “Nancy Grace” and “Good Morning America.” Her story has also been on Huffington Post and the website for the New York Daily News.
But Kegler said tips in the case were pouring in steadily before Elvis made national headlines and the information has continued to flow all week. Investigators are looking at every tip received and chasing every lead, he said.
In a report filed late Dec. 19, a police officer on patrol saw the 20-year-old’s vehicle parked at Peachtree boat landing and called her father, who is the owner, to ask why it was parked there.
Her father, Terry Elvis, said he last heard from his daughter about 10:43 p.m. Dec. 17, when she sent him a text message.
Center for Missing Persons spokeswoman Monica Caison couldn’t be reached immediately for comment on ongoing volunteer search efforts.
A search task force includes personnel from the Horry County Police Department, Horry County Sheriff’s Office, Myrtle Beach Police Department, State Law Enforcement Division, U.S. Marshals Task Force and the 15th Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Agency.
Elvis, according to a police report, went on a date the last night anyone reported seeing her. Her date is not considered a suspect, Kegler said.
There is a $25,000 reward for information about her whereabouts.

I'm sure there are a lot of possabilities here/ she had just moved into her own apartment (with a room mate) earlier in December. It's possible anybody could have seen her as being more vulnerable prey in that short time frame. However --- the father's statements raise red flags for me, given what I've learned from statement analysis. He starts he plea with "we are worried sick" and finishes with "I can forgive almost anything" ---- this blog has taught me -- "we" in an unexpected work from a parent who just lost their child -- and talk of forgiveness so soon -- means maybe he wants forgiveness.
apparently Heather sent her father a text of her mastering driving stick on the date. the father said in on camerta interview he had tried to teach her but never had the patience and now she was doing it. Im really curious is the father REPLIED to that text. if he did no reply -- was it because it stirred jealousy or angry in him? was that an element at play?

there may be a stranger involved. likely there is a lot more to know. but from hearing/watching the father's initial words -- I immediately thought -- oh no .

Heather Elvis had been last seen at her parents house on Tuesday, Dec. 17
Monday Dec. 23 her father Terry Elvis made a plea for her safe return.

"Christmas is a time for family and we won't have our family,"

"I can't explain it," he said. "It's like having your heart torn out, 24 hours a day. No sleep, you can't eat, just the worry, the worry is overwhelming. I'd give anything, anything to have her back safe."

I think he knows he won't have to give "anything".

mastered driving a stick that day??? im betting she had been drinking on that date. im thinking father was laying down a reason for why she took the stick when she couldnt drive a stick... something he didnt think of earlier cause he needed his car.

oh, he knew she wouldnt be found by christmas.

@
Sent her Dad a txt about finaly mastering a gear shift stick as oppose to a automatic on the Date.

What Date Is he referring to?
The Date she went on with a male that night..

Or Is he saying she sent him a txt pertaining to Gear stick control on the Date she disappeared?

If the latter then Its problematic leakage .
As how exactly would anyone know precisely when She went of the radar .

I think she sent the text while on the date and that's what he said or at least inferred. he didn't say "on the date she disappeared"

apparently they don't know when she disappeared. but ny ten a.m. cops found her car and weht to her dad to ask about cat since it was in his name. he said he called her for an hour. and after an hour went into panic. that is weird to me. why an hour.

looks like leakage to me...

Heather's father seems to already know Heather is dead -- this is demonstrated in the language of all of the statements he has made, that I have read. For example he said she won't be with them for Christmas, before Christmas even came.

In his facebook page he says he is smothered in darkness… it makes me wonder if he knows SHE is literally smothered in darkness. And that he buried her.

I wonder who could have driven that car, parked and locked it without leaving damage - other than Heather OR her father seeing as he surely has keys too.

I wonder why he did not REPLY to Heather's text about her learning to drive stick. I wonder if the reason he did not reply to the text is because it sparked some kind of jealous rage in him and he went to see her in person that night in response. It seems very unusual that he did not reply to that text with a text, of congratz or any words at all.

Why did he progressively call her cell until the power was drained - starting immediately after the police showed him the car? Everybody knows you need to conserve power on the phone of a missing person who might still be alive and attempting to contact you when they are able.

Does no one think a sexual predator could be involved in Heather's disappearance? Some of the news articles state Heather was promiscuous online and her lifestyle involved drinking, partying and drugs. She worked at two restaurants, with at least one requiring a "sexy" uniform. I am not blaming the victim, but it is certainly possible that she inadvertently drew the attention of a sick individual who harmed her.

I would assume a sexual predator too, were it not for the father's dubious behavior.

"I thought I knew the meaning of pain, I thought I knew the meaning of love, I thought I knew just how much my children meant to me. I had no idea how deep it runs. It's amazing, I never knew you could feel that way, so if anyone knows anything please come forward," said Terry Elvis.

what is THAT way?

Didn't Brittany Drexel go missing from Myrtle too?

Seems a lot of people have gone missing in Myrtle Beach for the past few years. I'm wondering about a serial killer.

Anonymous said...

a serial killer is possible. but these cases actually seem kinda different in specifics, also sounds like the area is full of tourists and young people vacationing -- could be enough other factors to push statistics up of missing people without there being a single killer.

I just can't stop seeing red flags about Heather's father everytime I see him speak, his new years eve "poem" on his facebook page is SO full of imagery about suffocatig and darkness ---- reminds me of lots of examples on this blog about leakage.

also -- the abandoned car -- I just read dogs did not find Heather's sent in the car. I don't know if that means the car was cleaned or if she just wasn't driving it that night. BUT it makes me think she wasn't in it when it was moved to where it was ababdoned and that no struggle went on inside it. now who would even want to move her car if she wasn't in it when they found her ------ all I can think of is her father --- he's surely got keys -- and he might think -- easy way to throw people off whwatever it was that really happened.

apparently she was involved with a married man. maybe the dad acks like he knows she's dead -- because he realizes the married man must have killed her.

Really!!!! Dad has know since first 24 hrs that his daughter was dead but hadto keep it all inside... They hunt is on today... You all should delete this awful post and get an updated version....

It does seem like if the car was locked it must be someone she knew because she would not had time to lock it if it was a stranger. I am not saying a family member I am saying well guess who?

Can someone answer this question without emotion or some lame explanation. Why, on the findheatherelvis page on facebook, are there phone numbers that dont go directly to the police but to the father of Heather Elvis himself??? Shouldnt this information go directly to law enforcement? Why wouldnt he want the officials to have the info unless there is something being hidden and he is trying to cut it off at the pass?? He is not the law and he keeps speaking of a bounty on that website. Seems really odd his hands are in everything. What does he know that he is acting in this manner????

That Terry Elvis may be losing confidence in law enforcement is not unexpected.
