Holly Bobo Update

The Federal Bureau of Investigation executed several search warrants Friday in connection with the 2011 disappearance of missing nursing student Holly Bobo
Investigators conducted one of the searches at the home of Zachary Adams, who was arrested by Decatur County authorities on unrelated assault charges during the search. Adams has a record. He bonded out on a drug charge in another county a few days before Friday's arrest.
Neighbors say investigators searched his property on Adams Lane—described as heavily wooded with at least one well—in the past in connection to the disappearance of Bobo, who went missing at 20 years old.
The TBI blocked access to Adams Lane and several marked cars were in the front yard of the home, where Adams' grandfather also resides. The homes is 14 miles north of Bobo's hometown Darden.
Agents were seen from chopper images sifting dirt and looking for clues in an area behind Adams' home. They used metal probes as they searched the grounds. Also, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office had a cadaver dog to assist with the investigation. Two to three more cadaver dogs will be made available to participate in the search again Saturday.
At least four vehicles were towed away from a property as a result of the search warrants. In addition, officials conducted interviews in surrounding counties.
"This is a very important time in this investigation. We're not going to say or do anything at the point to interfere with this investigation," said TBI Director Mark Gwyn Friday afternoon. "Hopefully we'll be able to return Holly home safely to her parents. That's our goal."
He said the investigation remains ongoing and may span over the next several days. Gwyn did not indicate what prompted the agency to ask for the search warrants.
Bobo was last seen on the morning of April 13, 2011. Her brother said he saw a man in camouflage lead her away from the Darden, Tenn. home into the woods. Her brother told the Decatur County sheriff that he thought the man wearing camouflage and walking into the woods with his sister was her boyfriend.
Family members say she was leaving for school when they believed she was kidnapped.
Danielle Darnell, who lives in the area, says she and Holly Bobo's mother saw three men acting strangely one week before Holly disappeared. She says she has known Adams her whole life.
Darnell says Adams and two of his friends were following Holly at a coon hunt dinner.
"Holly was on stage walking around the coon hunt. They basically stalked her a little bit," she said.
Bobo's hometown and the surrounding area have never given up hope. The people of Parsons, Tennessee routinely replace pink light post ribbons, but their resolve has never faded.
Bonnie Smith has a Holly Bobo reward sign in her convenience store window.
"Every time that anything happens, there's been so much hope," she said. "I'm hoping that this will be the final time"
Several cars were parked outside Corinth Baptist Church Friday evening, where some of Holly's friends formed a prayer circle inside the sanctuary.
"At this point we believe she's still alive. We don't have any evidence to contradict that, so we still believe Holly's alive," said pastor Don Franks.
The church organized an all-day vigil for Saturday even before Friday's new developments.
The 12-hour vigil takes place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church in nearby Darden, Tennessee.
If you have information that could help investigators, call 1-800-TBI-FIND.

Poor Holly. I hope TBI can find her and bring her home to her family.

I hope this beautiful young woman and her family get the justice they deserve.

This must be so frustrating for her family. It seems like another case where family, community & LE have specific suspects, but are unable to find the evidence they need. It's hard to believe this meth dealer (with or without his buddies) could outsmart local LE, state police & TBI. Who does this happen?

^^^^ I meant HOW does this happen, not who

Does this mean they think she is alive?

It seems strange for the official to say that while they search with cadaver dogs and send divers down wells.

"Holly was on stage walking around the coon hunt. They were basically stalking her a little bit."
Can anyone tell me what it means to be on stage walking around a coon hunt???? I have read this over & over, it makes no sense to me, I can't even picture this.
Also the qualifying of stalking by adding "a little bit" seems strange.

JoAnn, I'm not sure, but since they were at a Coon Hunt Dinner, I'm assuming they had some type of replica of a Coon Hunt that people could walk around, and even stalk - a little bit. The "a little bit" seems strange to me too.

John Feit phone call: "I am not the man who killed Irene Garza"

In 2003, at the request of law enforcement, former monk Dale Tacheny was asked to call former priest John Feit. Tacheny has said that in 1963, when the two were in a monastery together, Feit told Tacheny he had killed a young woman. Hear excerpts from that call recorded by law enforcement.

Dale Tacheny letter to police: "I can’t breathe"

In April 2002, former monk Dale Tacheny wrote a letter to the San Antonio Police Department. In his letter, Tacheny says he and John Feit were in a monastery together in the 1960s and during that time, Feit admitted to Tacheny that he had killed a woman. Feit denies the allegations. Tacheny reads excerpts from his letter.

Thanks just Jen. I thought maybe Holly was performing on a stage as part of the coon hunt, but the sentence spoken by the friend just didn't make any sense. I was having a hard enough time picturing a coon hunt - I'm still not quite there!!! Lol

Sus said...

JoAnn,
My guess is there was something displayed on the stage, either pictures of the hunts and dogs. Or possibly cups and trophies from hunts.

I also wondered since coon hunt dinners are usually to raise money (they charge for the meal) if there was a raffle or auction in conjunction. And the items were displayed on the stage.

That's what I'm picturing and only a guess.

JoAnn said...

Sus, that sounds about right to me! I have a bad habit of getting sidetracked by things that are not important...spent the last 30 minutes looking at coon hunts online. It seems that Decatur County, Parsons, TN has one of the largest events & it's held at the fairgrounds/convention center to raise money for St Jude's. It really is fascinating, but I need somebody to keep me on track sometimes. :(

just Jen said...

I thought performance as well, but couldn't see the boys stalking her in the middle of it.

Sus said...

Yep, then I bet they had other items displayed on the stage and Holly was looking at them. That's how we do it in my small town when we have a fundraiser.

JoAnn said...

The friend who made the statement that Adams & others were stalking Holly "a little bit" may be softening her language out of fear. Adams is in jail, but who knows for how long, and he has friends & family in this small community. Her language could be a reluctance to point a finger too hard in that direction. They were stalking holly.

John Mc Gowan said...

"They basically stalked her a little bit," she said.

"Basically" tells us that there is more information that she is thinking of, but withholding.

Sus said...

They were "stalking" her enough that Holly's mother interfered at the time. Enough that the friend offered to wear a wire and meet with Adams. Enough that his property was searched before.

Again, no link, sorry.

I too would like analysis an on John Feit. I live in the same town and hes been on the local news a few times.

one that really indicated guilt was when he was asked about the allegations and I cant find the original quote but it was something like "look at the last 40 years of my life" and....it had been 40 years since the murder.

and im not great at SA but John...

his comment "I am not the man who killed Irene"

Still not reliable. He still did not say "I did not kill Irene"

my thoughts then are that he changed to some degree and has not killed again and he no longer considers himself to be the same man as he was then. so he is not the man that killed irene, hes another man....

Hi Sus,

The full episode is on 48 hours.

"He no longer considers himself to be the same man as he was then. so he is not the man that killed irene, hes another man."

Thats an excellent point.

Did have the opportunity to issue a reliable denial in the phone.

John,

I watched the 48 hours on Irene Garza and was convinced it was Feit. It sounds like it was covered up right away and that her own family could not bring themselves to accuse a priest. The only person who has fought was her cousin.

That is just so sad. That so much clear evidence points to him and religion protected him.

Also the prosecuter basically said the one priest who has since passed was crazy and refused to proceed. He told the cop that John Feit would never be charged.

I am also convinced to this day that the McCanns confessed to the priest in Portugual but they are forbidden to repeat it.

That makes no sense to me but history has proven just how many hind behind religion.

Is there a particular camouflage pattern specific to the region? If so was the abductor wearing this pattern? If the abductor was working on the roadworks (which has been a connecting factor on a series of young, blond, female abductions according to one website) do any of his colleagues know he was going on the hunt?

I remember this case well. There was so much focus on the brother. There was misinformation and conflicting reports by the media at the time which drew immediate suspicion surrounding his statement. Though I did agree his statement had me wondering, my personal situation affected my view.

I had four babies within a five year span. I hope you can appreciate my family dynamics when they all turned teenagers at the same schools and peer groups. The two older are daughters and the two younger are sons. My sons learned the hard way to stay out of my girls' disagreements with their respective boyfriends. They were raised to protect and respect their sisters and their reputations. But my daughters set out clear boundaries as to their help which can sometimes be seen as interference. I did not jump to judgement suspecting the brother.

Peter, as an analyst, should we always take our personal life out of the picture when analyzing? I just learned a valuable lesson to take out emotion as seen in my immature and unnecessary reaction to a recent poster's comments. I'm sorry.

The brother's statement can be seen here:

Cindy Adams is not surprised her son was arrested this week, ” He got mixed up with drugs at an early age. It really changed his whole demeanor, but he is one of the sweetest people.”

The TBI also searched Zach’s great-grandparents old, dilapidated home across Highway 69 from his house. Cindy says the family is dealing with rumors about not only Zach, but his younger brother, Dylan Adams. Cindy says Dylan has been behind federal bars since July. She says he deals with learning disabilities and was questioned by investigators this week.

“I asked him, ‘Did you get interrogated?’ He said, ‘Yeah mom I did. They kept me up all night asking me all these questions about Zachary and Holly, “explained Cindy.

TBI is not releasing any information on whether Dylan or Zachary are involved in the investigation directly.

” I am not saying that either one of them is innocent. I am just saying that as their mother, I am going to believe my children until proven otherwise,” said Cindy.

JoAnn,

Holly was singing on stage at the coon hunt. It had long been speculated by people following the case (on websites such as Websleuths) that someone from the coon hunt may have seen and followed Holly. Also, her mom's behavior on the day of kidnapping led many of us to believe that something strange had been going on for at least a few days before her kidnapping. I've been following this since she disappeared and I pray they find Holly!

Thank you Anonymous. I appreciate your comment. I thought about it all day yesterday. I tried to stay away from the blog even telling myself that I had crossed the line so far, it was time for me to drop participation. My next thought was to quit using my name and using the anonymous function as it might help me create distance thereby lessening emotion and protecting my best interests. (I do believe anonymously posting serves a function and meets a need, I have posted anon before and no doubt will again. Circumstances define that decision) I am happy you did so in this instance as I don't wish supporters to carry the risk of condemnation by those I have offended. After much thought and prayer, I came to the decision that sometimes all we have is "our name" to stake our reputation. I'm not intimidated or afraid of repercussion by mean commenters. As I have stated many times: I have children - you can't scare me! I've been through it all. Thanks again for your comment.

Don't beat yourself up over it, that poster is already back trolling for attention in the latest Tammy Moorer post under other names. They changed their writing style "signature", dropping the multiple hyphens for numerals (which they must have forgot they started doing while still posting under their usual name. They convinced themselves that the issue you had was not wanting anyone to have a different opinion, anything else you said was in one ear out the other. Their angry troll persona is easy to spot, with the deliberate misspelling, deliberate improper punctuation and personal attacks (also using numerals in place of letters, I think we're supposed to think that identity is a man), the new anonymous victim persona leaves tell tale remarks about being persecuted for having a opposing opinions. I noticed in the hours after the "issue" being brought up, there are a multitude of new commenters with irritating quirks seemingly intended to bait annoyed responses to prove how unwelcoming the community here is, thereby reinforcing the persecution complex of the original "target". The only way to deal with it is to ignore it, it will escalate no doubt, but eventually it will move on once they don't get the attention they seek. I wonder why the attention from people who comment on this blog is so important to this person? There are tons of message boards and blogs to choose from. I thought it should be pointed out so people who may not have noticed will not "feed the troll". This is the last time I will mention it.

I also dont "they" are that good at statement analysis! OK, well I probably shouldnt say more, probably already said too much, and need to get dinner on the table and iron some curtains, spring cleaning coming a little early in this house :)

So just to get back to the case...can anyone answer my previous question regarding the pattern of camouflage that the abductor was wearing? I have absolutely no idea whether there are different patterns? And also can't find any mention of a physical description, height, weight, hair colour etc. There are so many elements to this story that don't make sense and I'm not sure as to whether this is due to bad reporting or lack of info from the police.

Samwise, a simple Google search should turn up articles related to the case. But to sum it up for you, Holly's brother Clint apparently saw the perpetrator leading Holly away from the house. Clint thought that the guy was her boyfriend because he had a young-sounding voice, Holly sounded like she knew him, and he was wearing camouflage. Clint knew that her boyfriend was going to go hunting that morning (turkey hunting, which uses a particular kind of camouflage, and it was turkey season). The guy was about the same height and weight as her boyfriend (over 6", around 200 lbs). The boyfriend was ruled out by LE.

Here's one of the most recent articles from last year (before this new story
broke). You might consider googling turkey camouflage if you want to know what it looks like. To me, it doesn't look like regular deer hunting camo at all.
