Myra Lewis: SUV Removed

We have learned that an SUV has been removed from the home of Myra Lewis, who remains missing.

The family has reportedly stated that she was kidnapped, with one media source claiming that they have 'reached out' to whoever took her.

When the mother spoke, we noted distancing language in her short statement.  This is very unexpected by a mother, even when speaking for the family.  A missing child is very unclose and personal.

The mother avoided using the child's name.  The mother used the pronoun "we" instead of the expected "I":  This is to distance herself (two indicators) from her child.

We also learned that she was last seen at 11:30AM, but not reported to police until 4PM.  Even though the father searched on his own, this is an extreme amount of time to delay calling 911.  Expected is that after 5 minutes of not locating a child so young, 911 would be called.

We then heard that police praised the family for cooperating, which is not something considered necessary, unless police are 'courting' an extensive interview or cooperation with the family.

The immediate area has been searched thoroughly, and the search has expanded.

The length of time between being last seen, and calling police at 4PM is suspect.  The father reportedly did his own search on an all-terrain vehicle, but it is not known if this is what was impounded.     While the SUV was removed, media was blocked from accessing the home via camera.  Police have not commented on why it was removed.

We have not had enough statements to draw a conclusion.

Possibly the little girl climbed into the suv??????

Thanks for the unsolicited speculation you provided based on this new knowledge. I believe you have solved the mystery.

Peter i thought i would move this across to this article.

Body language.

Myras Father.

@19 secs Myras father say's.

"That's all i ask bring my baby home".

Watch his jaw.It is very noticable he bites down, you can even see his ears move. This body language is a variation of "False Mastication" (false chewing) and is a nonverbal highly consistent with anxiety. Jaw clenching can also signal anger.

Which one it is, we don't know for sure.

@55 secs, her mother says "we feel that Myras in the hands of someone else right now, and we pray that they will have the compassion and love to release her whether "She", (false start) "they" take her to a police department or a Wallmart.

Freeze the clip when she says Police department @59/60 seconds. She displays a classic micro expression or CONTEMPT/SCORN.

The question is. Why does she flash contempt when mentioning the police. There could be any number of reasons, past bad experiences. Even if this is the case, i still would not expect this micro expression at this time given that the police are trying to help find her daughter?

To Add.

Myras father does not show any central forehead contracted (CFC). The central forehead is actively contracted during times of physical or emotional pain - either felt directly or secondarily via empathy for other people or animals. In these contexts the CFC should always be accompanied by a congruent mouth expression (never with even a momentary trace of a smile.

Caveat: If someone has had botox, this will reduce the amount of (CFCs).

These(CFCs) are also missing when her mother says "just imagine the (PAIN) of a loved one being gone.

When she says "Pain" this is where i would expect to see the grief muscles employed.

This odd to say the least?

John thanks! I wonder if that lady who talked on the tape (I dont believe that's Myra's Mom though) had something to do with Myra disappearing. Very interesting about the lack of central forehead contraction. The Dad is not distraught about Myra missing.

Sus said...

John,
I always love reading your body language analysis. Thank you.

I believe that is an aunt speaking, not the mother.

We've had so few statements from the parents, but it seems clear how the police are looking at Myra's disappearance. Taking the family SUV, digging in their yard, searching only around their property sure seems to indicate they are focusing on family.

John Mc Gowan said...

Thanks for that Sus,Anon. It still doesn't explain why they display these body language tells. Especially the father.

Sus said...

Correct. I simply thought we should identify her as the right person. If I remember correctly, she is the aunt in the same clip who lists those who would never harm Myra...her children, her brother, and his wife...IN THAT ORDER. Strange!

trishpatk said...

John's body language analysis is often worth reading whereas there are some people who seem to think that they have learned enough by reading the "Eyes for Lies" blog and watching "Lie to Me" and maybe browsed Paul Ekmans book. John does a good job and doesn't seem like an armchair detective.
Thanks for your valuable input, John.

John Mc Gowan said...

Re CFCs.

Even though that is not her mother but her Aunt, i would still expect to see these muscles used, if not for anything but empathy for missing Myra and her parents.

The contempt/scorn displayed by the aunt, now makes me believe that she has had problems with LE in the past

Red Ryder said...

Hi All, really good posts! There has been so little to work from from the family, LE has offered more for SA-in particular the Sheriff. Yes, the woman with the black head scarf in the Dad's sister, so Myra's aunt. The Mom is in another video, she looked destroyed..I also thought the Dad looked angry vs upset, also he did lolled down and side to side, did not look anyone in the eye.

Anonymous said...

Sus, that is really weird and I remember you caught that right off the bat! Do you know, is she talking about HER children or Myra's siblings?

Anonymous said...

I'd say the Dad and the sister did something to Myra. The father might have frightened the Mom so she would flee and stay gone for an extended period so he and his sister could harm Myra or he could have harmed her to get back at the Mom if he was angry with her.

Sus said...

RedRyder caught it. It wasn't in the transcript. RedRyder looked at the actual clip and posted it. I can't remember what post it is under. I know order is important.

John,
I had to watch several times to see what you meant. Thank you for pointing out in detail what was seen vs what would be expected. When I see something that seems odd or "off," like the parents & aunt in the video, I want to know why I am feeling that way. It's so helpful when someone breaks it down the way you did & the way Peter does when he analyzes a statement.

We know the ATV has crime tape around it and the father claimed the ATV stalled. The SUV was taken as evidence. I'm wondering if there was an ATV accident involving Myra? Did the older children use the ATV? Was Myra removed in the SUV? So many questions.

Sister of Dad answering reporters question "Do you believe somebody in the family had anything to do with this?"
" No, not at all. I know that that's routine and I can understand it being routine especially in today's society. But I know my children, I know my brother, I know my sister- in-law. And you know they love their children. They love their children,” she answered.

Here is the actual statement that the aunt made. Thanks RedRyder!

Specialized search teams are back at it, scouring the woods in Camden for any sign of missing 2-year-old Myra Lewis.

Television stations are reporting additional K9 units on the ground, and overhead photos from WLBT’s news copter show what appears to be heavy machinery digging on the property.

Sheriff’s Department spokesman Heath Hall said the heavy machinery carries “no implication” as to whether officials believe the toddler could be buried ont he property.

“They’re just tools of the investigation,” he said.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol Special Operations Group and the Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks Special Response Team, both of which had not gone out on Wednesday after searching Tuesday, rejoined the search today.

Hall said there’s no new information in the case.

“The investigation has taken different turns throughout this process. This is just another element of the investigation,” he said.

The Mt. Pilgrim Road area is closed off to everyone except searchers and residents. Photos from WLBT’s chopper show at least several dozen vehicles -- considerably more than have been there since early in the search for Myra -- lining the road near the Lewis home.

It’s unclear what factors have predicated the searchers’ movements, and authorities are tight-lipped about it. Madison County Sheriff Randy Tucker has remained firm that the case is simply a missing persons case until evidence is found that would point to it being something more.

Myra disappeared on Saturday, when her mother said she saw her in the yard as she left to go to the store and told her and another child to go inside, where their father was watching a newborn.

That’s the last time anyone saw the child, according to reports.

Authorities say the family has been cooperative in the investigation. Ericka and Gregory Lewis have publicly begged for Myra to come home. Gregory Lewis has publicly recounted searching for the child until his ATV stalled, and tracking her with the family dogs.

Neighbors wondered whether Myra might be with her biological father.

But officials would not address whether Lewis is Myra’s biological father or, if not, where her biological father is.

“I would have to tell you it’s an ongoing investigation, and we can’t comment on that,” Sheriff’s Department spokesman Heath Hall said.

Officials are asking anyone who may have information to contact the sheriff’s department, the FBI or their local law enforcement agency with any details, no matter how small.

This will be an interesting story. There are two other children, who were not taken. The alert was issued after the mother was found dead & Caitlyn discovered to be missing. The mother had allowed the father to stay with them for the past several weeks. The mother was remarried & her current husband is being held at the Baltimore Detention Center on "various sexual offenses."

Would the police have waited to arrest her because she was about to deliver a baby? I know they have a newborn, and I'm just guessing here.

John Mc Gowan said...

Hi Kirsti,

If you watch it again you will notice.

It is mostly demonstrated by her right-sided (our left)"snarl-like" face which involves an upward vectoring of her mustache area and a unilateral nostril flaring. There is also a foreshortening of the right side of her mouth and a deepening of her nasal-labial furrow. The partial closure of her right eye( our left) lids also acts as a "contempt amplifier" raising the magnitude of the emotion felt at this time.

Sadly, I'm not surprised at how this is turning out, taking into account the parents behavior, delay in reporting, barely speaking and failing to call out to Myra/appeal to her supposed kidnapper, etc. However it is still so sad and infuriating.

What has happened to our society, when children are not safe with their own parents? I say this with thoughts of Ayla, Isabel, Caylee, Lisa, Hailey, Dylan, Myra(?), the 3 children who's mother drove them into the sea a few days ago, and many others we likely know nothing about. I know it is a complex issue, but I have to wonder, what is at the heart of the brazen and callous actions. Mental issues? Plain selfishness? Pure evil?

It boggles my mind! On a happier note, it is a gorgeous day, and I'm going to get in some playtime with my boys! (big and little, lol)

Have a great weekend ya'll!

VioletBaby said...

I don't think the lady talking is the mom. Seems to be the Dads sister. The dad is very stiff, but stiffness in that situation isn't unheard of. If they are innocent and believe Myra was taken "JUST bring my baby home" is a very vague plea to a potential kidnapper. In fact, it is not necessarily directed to a kidnapper in this context. He could be talking to police, it could be a type of self-talk/prayer. The "just" is also interesting. I found it strange that no one was crying. Not the mother, not the father, not any of the people standing beside or behind them. It's odd. Especially given a beautiful and precious baby girl is missing. I'd be losing it and not be able to control tears if this was my family member. The fact that police have removed the SUV does not look good. The fact that there was a delay in reporting does not look good. When things don't add up, there is usually not a happy ending for the victim. Poor little Myra :(

VioleyBaby said...

Also, one commonality I see in these cases, is when children go missing and the family is acting odd and/or is under suspicion....the parents or family spokesperson will say drop the baby off at Walmart, police station, fire station etc. I have not seen this plea in innocent parents from what I can tell. How common is this plea from the family of missing children. It just reminds me if Deborah Bradley and her plea to drop her off at Walmart etc.

Peter, in your experience, what have you seen with respect to this dropping the baby off at random places plea? Is it common in innocent and guilty parents alike?

Looking at this one part
" But I know my children, I know my brother, I know my sister- in-law. And you know they love their children. They love their children,” she answered.
Since what she "knows" is that the people she listed "love"....
I wonder if what she almost said at the start was when responding to the question if ANYONE in the family had anything to do with it, I wonder if what she almost said was "I know I love my children", but her brain caught it right before it came out bc it would have been incriminating so she changed it to "I know my children".

Just to clarify, it would have been incriminating to herself suggesting her own involvement.

It's sad... Seeing the criminal history of Myra's parents did not shock me.

They look the part.

These are the people that have no right having kids.

They are a danger to society and more so innocent helpless children.

The sad part is I think I read that combined they have 10....now 9 kids (sorry, I do not believe this precious child is coming home) that will be raised in this reality....most likely continue the same path....have multiply kids.... They will continue...

This why society as a whole continues to get worse.

The cycle needs to end. But I fear it never will

Tanika Allen is a Facebook friend of mom. Looks like mom is her step mom so she is Myra's sister.

So today she posts pics of her boyfriend and comments how good he looks.

This whole family is awful.

I don't have a sister but I have a very close cousin that is like a sister. If she was missing I would be walking the streets with her parents hunting. Not posting pics of my man in Facebook talking about how good he looks. Especially if her step mom was arrested. I would be demanding answers.

Poor Myra never had a chance. The whole family is clearly only faking their concern.

JoAnn said...

Shelley,
There was a post from one of the Myra Lewis group followers about the stepsister. It seems there was a group prayer that the family didn't attend. During a search on Wednesday, the stepsister was asked by this poster why the family didn't come to the prayer vigil. Her reply was that they had to get milk for the baby & get tires replaced on the SUV. Now that the SUV has been taken by the police, there is speculation in the community that Myra was run over & the whole family is participating in a cover-up.

Red Ryder said...

Tires for the SUV! Oh no! I don't know why it isn't SOP when a child is reported missing that the family home and vehicles are prosessed ASAP, along with obligatory polygraphs and LE interviews if family. Maybe not a full on process, but scrutinized enough to determine if there is blood, signs of violence etc. I bet that would go far in helping solve many of these cases that aren't solved and "innocent" parents wouldn't mind (or am I projecting ?). I hope LE gets the old tires from the SUV. I hope they followed them if that is what happened:(

JoAnn said...

Red Ryder,
It gives you chills, doesn't it? This info come from a FB post, but I can't imagine someone making this up.
If this did happen on Wednesday as was stated on FB, Myra had been missing a few days already & there was FBI involvement by then. LE had to be keeping an eye on the family, so surely if they took that SUV in for tires, the police were able to take the old tires. Perhaps evidence from those tires led to impounding the car, and the subsequent pressure (arrest) on mom. Press conference today, hopefully. Media reports were that the sheriff was "under the weather" yesterday.

This person has been very outspoken in his opinion of the family & the police; and it was interesting reading to get a feel for how some in the community are reacting. I'm not sure what the etiquette is about providing names & links to a FB post from someone not directly connected to a case.
